there is the rabbi as the authority figure right listen you grow up there's the parents and then there's the teachers and the principal and then when you're an adult the the authority figure is the rabbi I'm not I don't love that role I don't want to be in that role personally and I'm not looking for someone to have that authority over me in my life I subscribe to the model of the rabbi as a resource in the lives of the people for the purpose of Education inspiration guidance when it's sought right not a person who is going to usurp the autonomy of the individual when you have a question big or small you have somebody who's available that you can ask you come to sh and hopefully ad Russia inspires you right that's not celebratory that's a very valuable role in the lives of the people it does not have to be I need my rabbis permission to x y and z
