It was shortly after World War II and the Zutkbut Isaac Rosenbal had a little in the lower east side of New York and after Shabas davening he walked out of the but instead of walking home he walked to the more industrial part of the city and the few mispin the people that davened with him were curious where was the reba going talis and he headed towards a factory and he walked into the factory and they were peering from outside of the factory looking through the windows and they see the Reb walking and there's people working at sewing machines, tens of people sewing garments and he walks past them and he says and one by one these shocked Jews who were working at the sewing machines they looked up at the Reb and they were horrified. They were so embarrassed and ashamed and he walked up and down the aisle. And when he finished these yidden, they came over to him and they said, "Rebi, you have to understand my wife was killed and I'm trying to rebuild my life." And another Yid says, "Rebi, you have to understand my children. They're gone. I'm just trying to start over." And one by one, each yid told the zutba their tale of horror and woe. And the Reb looked at them and with tears in his eyes all of these heathens stood around them and he looked at them and he said, "I understand Shabas, but it's still Shabas. I know it hurts and I know you're in pain and I know you're trying to recover, but it's still Shabas." And then he said, "Good shabasen. Good shabas." And he walked out. And as he walked out, one by one, they went back to their sewing machines and each of them put away whatever they were working on. And they too walked out of the factory and the Zutkirbe closed after the war. 140 factories of Jews who he was able to bring back after they had lost their way. And sometimes we lose our way. But Shabas is the same letters asshu to return. Shabas is the time that we come back to the rabbi. It's true we have so much going on in our lives. It's true that it's so difficult to commit and to follow through on the promises that we made last year and we've wandered and we've strayed out. But it's still Shabas and this Shabas is the time to return. Good shabas. Good shabas.
