BLACKOUT | Episode 1: Rerun explained

so my mother actually used to call me rerun as a as a joke [Music] rerun um who was actually the name of a character from a show that was out in the 1970s um what's happening we run uh used to be now if you're chubby kid growing up you know in the time that i'm growing up you know the older generation and i used to love to dance and sing or whatever and that's what rerun did on the show he would sing and dance or dance [Music] the song rerun is uh one of those songs where it's like for me it's very dear to me because i got to record i haven't recorded myself in years so because of corona i couldn't go to the studio so i recorded here at home in my own studio you know they be calling ya but i'm on the go for the win so they be starling the song itself is about um you know a lot of times we feel like we are being put in situations that are very troubling for us uh whether it's financial stress or losing a loved one or a family member or just stress at your job you know which is a big one dealing with very difficult people in difficult situations um so i sort of wanted to make like an anthem for like getting those things out of your way and and moving on and being able to to progress um and when i heard the track itself it sort of like was screaming that to me um like dusting them off like moving off these bad situations and being able to you know proceed and go forward this video is just sort of like day in the life of myself and then also a day in the life of rerun and i sort of wanted to be silly with it a little bit [Music] the world is obviously not very aware that there's other jews of color so i had a few of my boys come and make an appearance inside the video one of my biggest things right now is sort of like trying to figure out how to blend my past and my future together to be able to tell and give over a narrative that to some degree makes everybody feel comfortable so we really tried to do that with rerun and be able to reconnect you know do something that i felt like would be appropriate big for the culture and at the same time you know give people you know a nice little laugh or something [Music] [Applause] [Music]
