[Music] JM in the AM. The Israeli rock selection done by Yakov Schweki here on a Tuesday morning broadcast at JM in the AM. Our Steckler has walked into our studio. As I said to him off the air, it's always a delight to welcome him. Roesh Mar Keshvan. And by the way, a Ramy found the clip of Mayor Wearten explaining why we should call it Mareshan instead of Keshvan. We're going to have to correct the flyer by Stler. Uh because the actual word that refers to this month in our tradition is marshan. Anyway, I've ramy found the clip. We're going to play it tomorrow. Please God, at some point, probably early on. Uh it has nothing to do with mares. Nothing to do with bitter, nothing to do with mister, none of that stuff. It's the actual name that was given uh uh centuries ago. Anyway, I digress. Heal Hatra which is located on Sterling Place in Tene New Jersey and I've had the pleasure of touring Heal Hatra and meeting a lot of the students on the day that I was there. It's quite a place. I'm a big fan. Uh he Torah is is hosting an uplifting morning welcoming Roshesh Mareshvan with the Roshesh club with the Clifton Base Roes project with worldrenowned singer Eton Cats who will be conducting the musical Vasikin Davening starting at 6:50 tomorrow morning. Breakfast will follow. our good friend Ad Balor of course who has been our Rohes go to for so many months now um is involved and I'm sure will be there and for information you can contact the Rosh kodes club or just show up uh again begins at 6:50 tomorrow morning the rashiva Torah is Rabbi Ary Steckler a pleasure to welcome you back to JM in the AM >> thank you so much NA for having me it's always exciting to be here >> I appreciate that and that the the second full day back. You could come here and spend a few minutes is amazing. And can I assume that the school year is off to a terrific start? >> Yeah, thank God. Thank God. We have a new group of freshmen, 216 uh talum now total for the high school yeshiva. We started a col. We have 10 uh guys learning to be future Jewish educators. So, it's exciting. >> These are guys who came back from Israel or what? Like what are they up to? >> Yeah. already uh already college uh degrees and already um >> uh married and um >> Oh, married. Yeah. They want to be they want to be educators. So, we brought them into the high school. They learn with Rabbi Ellie Bellazison. >> And they may end up being in our Yeshiva high school system at some point. >> That's the point of the program. Yeah. >> Thank God someone's doing that. I hope your colleagues recognize how important this is. >> Yeah. when we get together all the principles uh each year we have 50 principles across the country >> and they lament that there's no teachers available. >> Yeah. I mean if everyone would want to expand to one rebby a year that would be they would need 50 new a year. It's just they're not out there. So >> right. >> Yeah. It's exciting. >> Um and then in addition to that when I toured your building it was obvious that you open up your yeshiva to older folks. Let's put it that way. >> Not older. Not older. People with flexible schedules. So, can I assume a lot of them are over 50 or 60? Can I assume that at least? >> Yes. Yes. Over 50. >> And that program continues through the school year. >> Yeah. Yeah. It's a great program. Uh Rabbi Daniel Friedman, who's the rabbi of the Jewish Center, he's the head of that program. Uh it's a beautiful thing cuz I love it for our boys. They see that, you know, when you have free time, you spend it some of it learning. It's a beautiful thing for our kids. >> The older people must love >> Yeah. They love the energy kids. Yeah. Originally, we thought maybe we'd have the program in a shul, but uh during the day, the shoos are empty. But to come into high school with the young guys, it's great for the older uh the retired. >> All right. How did this look, we're very familiar, as you know, with the obsession that Nader Balor and his group have with Vasik and Manim, >> right? >> They'll never miss it. And they are so dedicated and devoted to it >> to the point where they'll sponsor breakfast to bring hundreds of people over for Ro. So how did this how did this partnership begin? >> Yeah. So the way it began first of all I know Nadra for many many years. Uh I was a rabbi in Englewood many years ago and he's always been a leader of the community. >> Um but most recently uh when October 7th happened there was the big rally in Washington DC. Um heal of course uh participated. Uh but Rabbi Epstein who's our assistant principal in charge of programming >> very impressive guy. >> Yeah. He heard that uh Nadder was doing this uh Vasikin in front of the White House. >> All right. >> And I said uh you know we're going to travel through the night. I mean how are we going to pull this off? He's like we got to do it. We went. It was one of the >> with the high school kids. >> With the high school kids. We took uh I forget if it was two buses or three buses >> for a 6 a.m. shopping. >> We pulled up to the White House at Vasikin. It was one of the most inspiring things I've ever done, you know, in my entire life. Uh so I said to Nander at that time I said we got to partner together. This is a beautiful thing that you're doing and whatever way he could be a part of it. Let let me know. >> Now are you making this a requirement for students to be at 650 chakras tomorrow? Is it optional? Like what's going on? >> Students shouldn't be listening now because they can't have their phones during the tisha day and during chakras. But why the rash is missing chakras is another question. But uh yes it's it's required. Do I think every guy will come? Uh no. But if uh if we require >> But nobody's complaining that you've implemented this. >> Yeah, the high school boys always complain. That's okay. We you know to ignore them. >> Hey, members of the Jewish community, some would argue constantly complain. But that's just a rumor. That's just a rumor. Now, don't you agree, and I think your colleagues in other Yeshiva high schools that we love in this area would also agree that Eton Catz is the perfect choice for this. >> Yeah, we have Eton all the time at the Yeshiva. He's uh what I like most about him is um besides all the other things that are amazing, he has this way of getting high school boys so excited about Jewish music. I haven't seen anyone else who can get the guys that that pumped up. >> He's great. Hallelu is going to be amazing tomorrow. >> Yeah. Yeah. It's going to be beautiful. I'm sure there'll be a lot of dancing and singing. It's going to be amazing. >> That's right. All right. Vasikin at Hehal at 70 Sterling Place in Tene, New Jersey. And that happens tomorrow beginning with Shakus at 6:50 a.m. It it is in fact Eton Katz who's going to be responsible for that beautiful musical hal. There'll be a breakfast to follow and all the regular rotoesh people are invited. No one should think that this because it's an yeshiva. >> No, the the entire community is invited. Um and uh we'd love to have everyone uh be a part of be a part of the rokes club. Uh I think it's going to be very special for everybody. >> All right. So the uplifting morning is tomorrow and those of you out there who have been accustomed to joining the Roesh clubs at all the various locations make sure you're at Hal tomorrow morning. I'm sure our good friend Ralph Rosenbomb will be there. I'm sure our good friend Morris Estus will be there. I'm trying to think of everybody who's obsessed with the Roshes Vasikin circuit and Nader for sure will be there. >> Yeah, he's going to be leading Shakris. >> Oh, nice. We'll have uh because he's Iranian so we'll be having Bad Kim at Shakas that's special for first time that I remember that we'll have that. >> I will I will say I also love Ding Vosikin. >> You know there's something about getting up early seeing the seeing aeshbu sun rising. It's just very inspiring. So recommend it for everybody. And not that I'm condemning anybody for hopping aboard this time of year, but we always make fun of the fact that this time of year the Vasikin is much easier than at some other times during the year. >> Yeah. Yeah. 4:30 is a little harder. >> Yeah. Those who want to do it in tamos, you know, they may want to rethink it. But tomorrow 650, I mean, come on. That's you can handle that. >> That's not so terrible. Now I I have to before I let you go, Rabbi Steckler, I must acknowledge um how much I enjoyed and maybe that's the wrong word, but how much I appreciated your tribute to Rabbi Adler. Yes. >> And I did not know that you had grown up in his sh essentially here in T-neck. >> And on top of that, there's a picture of him reading the suva at your wedding. >> Yeah. Yeah. is uh it's a big loss for the entire community, but I feel it in a personal way. My sh Rabbi growing up and definitely inspired me and a lot of what I've done is definitely uh he gets credit for. >> Now, we also know what kind of revolutionary he was when it comes to uh boys high school education. >> Yes. >> Can I assume that some of the things you're doing are modeled after his leadership? >> Yeah. Look, as a kid, I saw him taking a yeshiva that was barely anything at that time and growing into a major Torah institution. So, that type of role model for me definitely a big part of uh why I was able to build HA. >> Wow. Amazing. And um you you have had tremendous success in attracting great staff members, right? You have to admit, you said earlier that a lot of schools around the country are looking for a bay. You've been lucky with some of the people you've been able to attract. Yeah, the key to uh HAL is is the team, you know, the the passion, the excitement, the the willing to grow, the caring about the kids. These are amazing amazing people. I'm so fortunate to work with them. Uh unfortunately, when you lose somebody on your staff, overlander passed away. >> It just it just uh changes everything for you. You realize that Hashem has sent certain people to you, you got to appreciate them. Don't take them for granted. I'm glad you mentioned him because boy, what a talented fellow, huh? >> Yeah. Yep. So, that just uh it's a reminder >> when he got sick. Uh the first thing I said to the staff was, you know, I ded every day for every Tomlin, you know, I d for a Tommy, but I never ding for our employees. If someone was sick, I would die for them, >> but I didn't never include that in part of myos. And that's that's terrible. when you have a family, when you have a team, every day you got to thank Hashem for them and ask Hashem to keep them healthy and keep them safe >> and certainly appreciate them. All right, everybody. Rabbi Steckler invites you to Vasik Hal tomorrow. This is the regular roesh uh group uh getting together with all the talmid at and cats shakers at 650 at 70 sterling place in Teneal Torah tomorrow morning to celebrate Roesh Mareshvan and any information you can contact or any of your roes groups etc etc and we hope you have an amazing 5786 school year. Yeah, thank you so much for all your supporting them and wishing you a great year here at J&. >> I appreciate that. Make sure to encourage the students when they do have their phones to listen in. >> This is one of the only apps we allow. >> Thank God we made the cut. Bar Hashem, thank you so much, Rabbi. >> All right, take care. >> All right, Ari Steckler's Russ at Vasal tomorrow. will be there for bro at 6:50 a.m. And this is America's one and only Jewish moments in the morning radio program heard on listener sponsored digital radio around the world web single.com on the Malcolm single network and of course on the beloved NSN App.
