JM in the AM on a um a Tuesday morning
broadcast. It's a new music alert
Tuesday with our good friend Tonnie
Gutman. May many of you are aware of the
fact and many of you enjoy the fact that
Tonnie has been with us now for many
years. Thursday night with Tani talks
para and throughout our schedule
on the Nahome Seagull network with
different uh aspects of his professional
life and and of his um observations
through life that he brings to us during
his different segments Tonnie talk
sessions uh and many others and um now
Tonnie has drifted into the area of
music and that leads us to today's new
music alert with Tonnie Gutman with us
live via telephone. Ani a pleasure to
welcome you back to JM in the
>> AM.
>> Thank you so much for having me.
>> You know it's Roesh Adar. I feel I
should start with asking you how Fel's
doing. [laughter]
>> Fible is doing great. We are in the
middle of book three and uh we're very
very excited about that. We have a whole
new method of how we did it. We have the
family the items and that's uh that's a
big project. We made it bigger this
time. So I need around two years to
finish it. So not this year. So uh and
for those of you who wonder why I'm
asking about fial and joking around a
bit on this roader,
uh Tonnie has actually gone ahead. But
what's what's the what's the official
title of the book?
>> The third one that we're in the process
is
>> no the two the two that are out already.
What's the official title?
>> Uh the first one is fine fal fun with fo
and family on Barnes & Noble and Mulu
and [clears throat] the second one is
fine fal the world tour Israel journeys.
Amazing. And that's the goal. The goal
is for people of all ages to sit around
and find Fial. He's somewhere in that
picture, right, Donnie?
>> That's right. Him and his family and
those mitzvah items that they're always
losing.
>> He's He's somewhere He's somewhere in
that scene. What is a typical mitzvah
item that Fal and his family are losing
on a constant basis?
>> So, I tried thinking of the different
items that are common seen in a Jewish
home. So that's like the candalabra that
we like for shabas or a kala roll the
big kala loaf is lost that talis is lost
in the sitter the tucka box those are
some examples uh and in all seriousness
families are loving this and they're
enjoying it very much we enjoy featuring
it and those of you who who want it like
you like you said you can just literally
go to Barnes & Noble um and and and and
find the uh the find or where is fal
right what's the name again
>> it's on bn.com easy website find you
type it in it's one of the first
searches that you could find we're also
on teacher spay teachers for those
teachers out there
>> amazing all right good job on that and
now you've uh with all the different
things you've been doing presentations
on the para presentations about
different aspects of life
finding fal as we just discussed you're
now drifting into the area of actually
releasing music tonnie gutman tell me
about the beginning of this story about
you deciding to start composing and
releasing some musical selections.
>> So, thank God I've been playing music
since I was 10. My family had said that,
you know, I lost my dad when I was nine.
I lost my brother when I was 20. And we
had thought it was a very good idea to
get into music, especially as a kid to
find a way to, you know, express my ways
emotion. I wasn't able to really go
through that, you know, healing process
otherwise. I believe that music for me
was very healing. I started playing at
10. I started writing music at around
14. And I've had these ideas with me for
years, but I never had a really good
medium of going through it. So I worked
with this beautiful, amazing program. I
put all of my tunes in. I put all of my
lyrics in. I spent hours and hours and
hours. And this is the first CD. Music
for me is very, very, very cathartic.
When I play my guitar, my acoustic
guitar, my family got me the best guitar
in the world. It's Martin for those of
them who are curious, the Martin guitar.
And when I play and I sit there, it's
very cathartic. So, one of the series,
the music series, which is God willing
going to be four or more CDs, is going
to be called Catharsis. And each one is
going to have a theme. So, the first one
is called the rhythm of the climb
because when you go through life and you
struggle, it's a climb. And then the
next one, God willing, is going to have
freedom hopefully, and then you find
your home, and then you find your
belonging. So, each one has a theme.
>> How many selections are on the First of
all, it's unusual. A lot of people say
they don't even bother releasing um
musical selections on CD. They make them
available only digitally. So that's a
big advantage to those who want that
medium. How many selections are on the
first album?
>> It is digital technically. We released
it to a distributor. They used to have
it physically, but it is technically
digital. And it is available.
>> Yes, it is available everywhere music is
in the in the digital sphere. The first
CD has 19 tracks, 18 songs plus the
bonus.
>> So we can call it a CD even if it's not
a CD.
We call it a digital CD for those uh to
be uh showing biases out there for those
music afficionados. [laughter]
>> Yeah, just to be technical and to get it
100% correct. Tonnie Gutman is with us
live via telephone. All right. I'm
assuming that you in addition to
composing these songs, you're
responsible for the vocals on these
songs. Are you responsible for
everything on these songs?
>> So, the way I did it is I made it into
two versions. I have the cover version
where it sounds like a full studio
selection and then I have the raw
version where I do my version because
this was the best way to go about it. I
felt some people have their own personal
studios and personal selections but
thank god we're a family of uh seven
almost eight. So due to different types
of constraints this is the best way to
go about it. So I give the audience two
ways to listen to it and be both are
beautiful and both have their different
flavors and their different abilities
and it really I thank God it came out
really well and I cannot wait to keep
releasing I'm on a little bit of a
schedule so that we we pace it but in
another life I would have released all
of them at once
>> and I and I assume that all the uh that
all the digital platforms that have it
all people need to do is search your
name I would assume.
>> So we go by Tonnie G. I wanted it to be
an artist's name that's catchy. My logo
is my pick and my guitar that I use. I
found a picture of the Martin. And then
they could just type in Tonnie G or they
could type in catharsis. They could type
in the rhythm because all the CDs will
be called the rhythm of blank.
Catharsis, the rhythm of
>> All right. And you're looking for Tonnie
G, folks. T A N I G. Uh if you searched
for the artist on your digital
platforms, first song we're going to be
doing today is called The Change. Tonnie
Gutman, here's your chance to tell this
wonderful musical audience what is the
change about.
>> So, each of my songs has a different
flavor. It has a different topic and has
a different heartbeat to it. Has a
different reasoning behind it. The
change came to me. The idea that we all
can change. We could all work on
ourselves every year. Especially when we
think about Rashana and Kipper time.
Even if it might be scary, even if it
might be fearful, we have the ability to
change ourselves. Only we can change
ourselves. Well, Tonnie Gutman, we're
calling this a new music alert Tuesday
at JM in the A.M. Song is called The
Change, and you're listening to JM in
the A.M.,

T A N I G.
Brand new music. A new music alert
Tuesday.
Song is called the change.
[music]
Tonnie, you've got to be happy with that
sound. I mean, that really came out
beautiful.
>> Thank God.
>> Thank God. I love it and I appreciate
it. I also want to let your listeners
know that I try to do something that's
unheard of in the music uh Jewish
element. As far as I know, I don't know
any other country, western folk, uh
Jewish type of a singer. All of my songs
are in the country/cunchy rock genre.
So, I'm hoping it's something different
for all of your listeners as well.
>> All right. It's definitely different. We
uh we we think you're joining a small
and unique group uh that really that
really does it well. And I'm not
kidding. And it's funny you say it
because as I'm listening to it uh I'm
thinking of um you know who would
appreciate it. And there is a very loyal
group out there of people who love that
you know country western Jewish angle.
Let's put it that way. And I think that
you're you know you're really hitting
their sweet spot on that.
>> Thank you very much.
Tonnie Gutman's with us. Tonnie G. You
can literally search his um his name in
your digital platforms. Tan
and find the uh the brand new CD. 19
songs, 18 plus a bonus track. The change
is the name of the one we just did. Next
one up is Troubled Times. Tonnie, your
opportunity to tell us what this one's
about. Go ahead.
So, this one came to me many many many
years ago, but I revamped it over the
past few years because we've seen a lot
a lot a lot of craziness and madness and
difficulties in the world, especially
from my perspective. Thank God I'm a
young Jewish family, you know, seven God
will only eight very soon for us. It
should all go well. Amen.
>> But it's a very it's very difficult.
Thank you. It's very difficult to make
it in this world. Not even to make it
financially, but to make a difference.
And there's a lot of craziness out
there. people fighting with one another,
people not getting along. And I wanted
to make a song that deals with this and
tells people, "Let's just get along.
Let's let's be well with one another.
The world already is so difficult. Let's
try to make it through for one another."
>> Fantastic. It's called Troubled Times.
It's a new music alert Tuesday with
Tonnie G with us live via telephone in
the AM.
[music]
>> [music]
>> Trouble times.
[music]
Don't mind
keeping [music] life.
You'll be fine.
We live in such troubled times. [music]
It's hard to make.
There's way too much crime and [music]
people really whine. We live in such
troubled times. There's way too [music]
much online. It's hard to stay offline
and people really can't [music] lie.
Trouble time.
Trouble. [music]
Don't
lie.
>> [music]
>> Well, you'll be fine. You'll be fine.
You'll be fine. We live in such troubled
times. [music] It feels like to have no
time. Remember to keep in your line and
you'll be all fine. We [music] live in
such trouble times. There's way too much
crime. It's hard for some stay in line.
People need to all trouble time.
[music] Trouble time. Don't
[music]
keep me alive.
[music]
>> [music]
[music]
>> Trouble times.
Don't
keep in line.
You'll be fine.
[music]
>> [music]
>> Troubled [music] times.
Tonnie G is with us live by a telephone.
[music] A new music alert Tuesday. That
one is called Troubled Times.
It's a uh it's a bold declaration. Uh
when one says you'll be fine, you know,
Tonnie.
>> Well, we have the and that we believe in
Hashem. So hopefully we will be fine
>> 100%. Well, yeah, [laughter]
even beyond hopefully the way you put
it. Very strong words and a very strong
message. Troubled Times is on Tonnie
Gutman's Tonnie G's very first CD. Uh
official name of the CD again,
>> Catharsis, the rhythm of the climb.
>> Catharsis, the rhythm of the climb. You
can search that or the name Tonnie G on
your social uh on your musical platforms
to check out the brand new CD, the
virtual CD which contains 18 plus one 18
songs plus a bonus to bring it to 19.
And we're doing a couple of them this
morning here during a new music alert
um
Tuesday at JM in the A.M.
Have you explored any uh live music
performances? Is that something that's
in the cards for you or this is
something that remains in the studio?
>> This is for now in the studio. I'd love
to perform live as long as they could
accommodate my wife and children because
that would be hectic chaos otherwise.
But we're hoping uh at some point if
people really love the music that would
be a huge dream. That would be
wonderful.
>> And uh you got to work on uh you got to
work on the country western sound.
um you know in a studio it's one thing
live it uh it can be a bigger challenge
right
>> absolutely but I think it's a a very
unique type of a sound so I'd be happy
to do that if people have the venue
we're happy to do it
>> oh you have no idea you you did this at
the right time there is so much interest
at least I find it now I mean look it's
it's it's over 40 years I can tell you
when the peaks and valleys were for
these types of uh you know for these
these types of selections right now I
think we're in a very very high point
for it. Uh people are really
appreciating the uniqueness of it and
the and the sound of it. Uh not just
here, by the way. I think it's across
the country as well. So, you're really
hitting this at a good time in my
opinion.
>> Excellent. Thank you.
>> All right. Uh we're going to wrap things
up and uh recommend to everybody to
check out Tonnie G and the new and the
brand new CD. The uh the song we're
going to close with is I Want to Is it
Is it entitled I Want to Climb Rock? Is
that the name of the song?
We have I want to climb which is the
regular one and on my CDs I include a
bonus one. So I I choose one or two
tracks to give it a special style. So
even though I play in country I also mix
it in the rock version
flavor sometimes to a song.
>> All right. Now I understand that. So the
song is officially entitled I want to
climb. Tell us about it as we say
goodbye here on a Tuesday.
Thank you so much for all the time and
this song a lot of a lot of people deal
with a lot of anxiety especially
nowadays and this song I thought
especially for people in life that have
to that have to deal with you know
mental illness that have to deal with
things that have to deal with worries
and concerns all their life. This song
is specifically the anxiety song that I
written for that. All these thoughts all
these stuck things stuck in their mind
all the time and sometimes you just want
to climb out of that and have a a safe
calm type of a day. So that's the
anxiety song is this one.
>> I gotta tell you, you know, it's uh you
you deal with a whole bunch of different
situations. I mean, you speak about so
many different things whenever you uh
are on the NSN network in the different
segments that you do, but uh it's pretty
amazing when it came to the musical
piece. You're looking at things in a
very very positive manner, which is a
really important message. It could be
very helpful to a lot of people.
Listeners, I think, will appreciate that
very much.
>> Very much.
>> Thank you so much. And I hope so.
>> Tonnie Gutman is with us on Thursday
