I'm very excited to share with you this project that I made with Nachman Dry. Nachman has been the guitarist for Freilach Band ever since it started. >> [music] >> Nachman is a very good and deep Yid, a very talented guitarist. >> [music] >> And also, which a lot of you may not know, he's a very, very talented singer. >> [music] >> And he also composes his own songs. Here you can see a project that I worked on together with Freilach Band and Nachman many years ago. I've known Nachman for how many years? >> 15 years? 15 years. Give or take. >> Yeah. Nachman. >> Yeah. >> I have this cooking show that I make every week. It's usually between 1 and 3 minutes. And I wanted to have uh music. It's very hard for me to get music because it's either not Jewish music or it's royal and it's not royal to royal it costs money, right? So, I have a very hard time with the music. >> [music] >> You know that song? >> As Nachman brought up so many great songs on Shabbos, we just got into it, just singing. We didn't even record. He suggested this, I suggested that. I really enjoyed this part where we were just [music] talking about different songs and singing them. [singing] >> [singing] >> It's funny, I did songs for him. You know Mushi the painter? I did the the Kalina song for him. For Shabbos. I love that song like that. >> [singing] >> Nachman, Nachman is a real story. Nachman is a real good Yid. Nachman a great example of a deed. A real deed who make who made his only disguise [music] and his connection with Hashem in a real way. >> [singing and music] >> It's a beautiful song. >> It's all about it, yeah. Wow. >> [singing] >> When I learned about storytelling, they taught me storytelling is about >> [music] >> energy changing from negative to positive or positive to negative. Whichever way it goes, it's a story. But if it doesn't change, then it's [music] not a story. >> This is a song of life. A lot of Lubavitcher songs have this if you talk about storytelling, it's a a story about trying to get there and falling and trying to get again, so. >> [singing] >> You finally get there. >> [singing] >> And whatever you get there, you go back to reality. >> [music] >> It's like it was before, yeah. >> Yeah. >> This part of it came before that. All right. In the story you have sections like you have first like laying down the pieces, the theatric, the the trees, the sky, the then you bring the characters. And then you bring the drama, and then it goes back to the to the way it was before, Shabbos. >> Yeah. >> Separation. >> Music is also a story, storytelling. >> For sure. >> Yeah. It's it's a higher way of story. It's a much deeper way of of >> Cuz it's up to you. >> It's the deepest way form of storytelling. You know, the >> When I'm telling you a story, I'm I'm forcing you to with the narrative to go to a certain place. When When I'm playing a song, you in your own head, the story can be whatever it wants to be. >> [singing] [music] >> I quickly realized I should not give him any advice, since he's a very professional and talented musician, and decided to go with the chef's recommendations. >> [music] >> Maybe you recommend You recommend the Take the lead. Then, he records another layer on top of that with a different style of playing the song, like harmony or different type of melody. And it really comes out so beautiful. Just with a guitar, he made very enjoyable and professional and fun to listen to track. I'm fascinated by the amount of control that he has on a guitar. You cannot appreciate I did No, at this point a moment happened that I can relate to very much as an artist, as an editor. The self-conscious doubt if I did good enough, even though you you've been doing it for years and years. And you know you're a professional and you appreciate it, but still they have these doubts if people like it because it is something that's a matter of taste. Music and art is a matter of taste and sometimes even if you made something beautiful, the person listening to it or watching it or seeing it may not like it. So, it's a very uncomfortable place where artists find themselves constantly. It's stunning. It's stunning. Beautiful. But perfection is a kick down. You know what? Like That's exactly what you did. I see you making a big dish of it now and a moment. That's all. This is the hell the hell of This is professional stuff. [music] It's to me. I mean it over over over the way dealer.
