Mikvah that the heat should not

winter should not come and cool off the

should be a foam over there to protect
to protect the heat of the M okay again

the Mikvah and you and the outside is
exposed let's say you can go down to the
basement and um the M on the first FL
Flor so it goes into the basement and
you can see from the basement if it has
a leak if you know that um if if you
only have
one container where the water is in you
can see where it's leaking it'll leak to
the outside but if you have one inside
of the other there's no way you can tell
and it could cause a lot of problems so
the um and this seems to be the outer
cradle which they made and they're going
to pour a m inside this so I said I'm
not a of this I I'm really against it
but besides the fact that it's I think
it's cost you about $30,000 extra which
is a waste of
money okay so here um this is what it
looks like from on top and everything is
being hung this inside the inside
container which is going to the the
concrete is going to be around it not in
it has to be hung so that the cement
could get

technology available that they put

concrete and then rebar is not necessary

um glass fibers fiberg glass and um
their fibers which keep the thing
together just like where
the they put straw
into the um into the cement which the

metal bar metal bars of the rebars going

pipe or 3-in pipe you don't have to fill

make a mikah that as many people as
possible should be happy with it even

make the water too high so she'll make
it a little bit lower beneath the hole
so in order that shouldn't
happen they made everything with all the
water has to go through a mikah and by
making it go through a mikah it becomes
mikah water and then it doesn't matter
if it doesn't go up to the
hole um according to the
strict
now
the was very much against
theik so so so so the
um wasab the bar is under the place
where the um people are to so this under
the place people to it's impossible not
to fill it up to theole because all the
water is going to be in it has to be in
the bottom mikah before it can be in the
top mikah so so there may be a problem
that person's to will put their foot
over the hole and then it won't be
connected so they uh even though would
be anyway so they make two holes that
far enough apart from each other that
you can't put one foot on one foot on
the other because they're too far upon
so however from a construction point of
view it is not so simple to make a bur

dirt in the M usually flows to the
bottom so after a while if you have a
bur under your bar with two holes which

wide according to the
bab um you actually after a while get
it's it starts to get all full of dirt
and when it has when you have a foot of
dirt in it which is in M which is used
um frequently it's it's not after a
year's time it can get quite afterwards
you may not have the sheer of water
anymore in the bottom in the bottom so

should always have 40 so of rain water
in the Mikvah and if you have Z keeps
getting washed out all the time and
after a while since you changeed the
water in the B you don't have anymore

bar andak theak doesn't change too
much and as z bar changes all the

around it because they've been washed

to fill the
mikah they have to plug
up this they have to plug up the this
drain over here that has all the leaves
on it and that forces the water to go
down this drain which
is the
um which is
uh um going to be the koser Wat used for
the MK doesn't is is isn't this looks
like some sort of cap to a yes it's a
cap this one also has a cap the cap is
there to catch the S like some sort of
exhaust no no no this is uh this stops
the leaves from going down into the pipe
and this here there's the same thing but
this is lower and it has the same thing
to hold back the leaves that's why all
the leav are here and they didn't go
down the pipe but the um oh you can't
see the cover over here but if they
instead of um if they put a stopper in
this in in this hole then the water will
be forced into this one and that's what
they want use when they fill the M CU
most of the time you don't want the rain
water you don't need the rain water it's
only the beginning and if you want to
change the rain water you need it uh
some pay to do it every year or what or
so and that's what this setup is
for

see all these uh wooden um these wooden
beams what is what are they doing over
here these wooden beams so this also has
to do with construction when they pour
the concrete the concrete is so heavy
it's much heavier than the wood wood
floats in in water it pushes up the the
concrete under the wood pushes the wood
up so in order should push it up they
have to put beams on top to keep it to
keep everything down in
place same this over here is uh
basically the same I the same

and um I'm not sure exactly what they're
doing here they must be doing some work

drain in them on the bottom of the mid
to drain out the water however a drain
comes with a lot of problems because you
have to when you use the M you have to
plug up the drain now you have to plug
up the drain such a way that no water
should leak out cuz if water leaks out
there's
a you can't you have to can only you
can't be T in running water so if it
lies out of the dra drain stopper which
after a while gets worn out by putting
it in putting it out so it's not going
to fit tight and the water's going to
leak and so therefore it's not done
anymore today all mcars are emptied by
pumping out the water so the pump if
it's uh the the pump the water goes up
above the above the walls of the of the
mik and goes out to a drain somewhere so
it can't leak because it's in a if the
drains on the bottom the pressure of the
water will push water out into the drain
pipe but it can't push it up higher than
the level of the water so that's much
safer okay now this

I believe a pipe which they Ed to pump
in the
concrete they pump in the concrete
because the truck couldn't get to the
building it it just can go to the
outside of the building then they have
these pipes and they and they um pump it
in these pipes are tremendously heavy
because a concrete wasts so much you
need sometimes two three people to hold
it three three strong people because of
the weight of this pipe well that's when
they want to pour in the concrete like
they pouring the concrete over here in

a question how thick is the wall that
there typically the wall is somewhere
between 10 and 12 in that is the wall of
of the M itself now over here I believe
that this over here is a vibrator

all it does it vibrates when they put in

have to make sure that there's no air
that is trapped in the cement which is
typical that happens when it plops down
down into the place so there's air there
and if there's air it um it's going to
um cause a after it dries there'll be it
won't be water tight so it has to be

it's strong long as I said I'm not AUST
of this so this is not the actual floor
of the mikah this is not the floor of M
floor mik is going to put on top of

proba looks like the same thing and this
is where they already put up the boards
over here on this floor to pour in these
walls which are going to be the Cradle
walls and the actual mik over here is
going to be poured inside this space now

over here are are there they don't want
to put any pins even in this outside one

them to hold them up so the pressure of
the concrete should not push push these

see where I was talking about that this
is the outside wall of the cradle and

which they're pour no this is just
boards these boards they haven't poured
it yet they're they're going to pour it
um um at a later later date so we have
two questions here what is the problem
with the Cradle why doesn't the r uh I I
don't like the Cradle first of all
because it waste of money cuz I don't
think it it acces anything and second of
all I think that it is a problem I've
had this problem in had a CU if there is
a leak in in the wall of the
Mikvah and very often this is a very
often this part is exposed in the
basement of the building so in other
words the the m is on the first floor
the ground floor and in the basement you
can see the walls and if there be any
leak you could see where the leak would
be on the outside wall CU it's going to
leak to the
outside but so where you see a leak you
know where it fix it but if you put into
a cradle the water gets between the
mikah wall and the Cradle wall and it's
going to come out someplace in the
Cradle wall any
place not necessarily the place where
the leak is and so it's very hard to
find the leak if that sort of thing
happens okay checking the reliability of
the mik does one have to inquire whether
the raak himself was present at the
pouring of the concrete or is there a
certain monus that is attributable to
lay or other Representatives present at
that time that can attest that the
pouring was done
properly the the does not have to be
poured you just have to have it and you
can come and see it if you if you look
at it you test it to make sure it
doesn't leak it doesn't matter how it
was poured this would be in
contradistinction to the the collecting
of the water though yeah that would be
even when you collect the water to the
way it's set up set has to be uh
carefully scrutinize to make sure it's
done properly but once the once it's set
up you don't have to be there when what
actually comes in

was he was so upset I've never seen
upset like that before so I asked him
like what was the problem he said they
made a m and they were not to put any
nails in the roof because the water's
going to come off the roof and it didn't
want it be supported with
something he was so upset that such say
the person could be something that makes

are um are Tuma not that the doesn't
make it true of him and the whole thing
was not necessary and uh so I'm just
saying that these studs even these wood
metal studs even though they're holding
up the roof doesn't matter

the cement was
not um vibrated properly and I was
talking about the a holes these over
here are all air holes in the in the
concrete and when they've actually uh
put it put water in it to test it to see
if it's waterproof the water came
gushing out over here not just trickling
out actually gushing out in a in a in a
poor um because it went through the air
holes that were there in the in the
wall okay so this is
uh this is um over here is where the
water was coming out it really came out

because because of these holes there was
little holes in the cement because the
Builder said that now we have new cement
we should don't have to vibrate he
doesn't need
vibration I in the end I I said look we
got to what he doesn't need it do it so
then he did it but he didn't do it fast
enough until the bottom part over here
still over here he did it later but he
didn't get to the bottom of
it uh in this I go back yes please in
this picture you can see over here all
the water on the bottom which had leaked
out from this uh from the this
W okay um can you a little smaller

yes so this over here can you see the
over here this was the hole which they
cut out in that wall of the Mikvah which
was leaking so they cut out all this
concrete the with the holes in it and
this is the rebar which was in the wall
and they put down two piece rubber over
here went all the way around and around
the top and put one here and one there
in order to that after they fill this
with special type of concrete which
expands after it dries as it dries and
therefore make the tightest fit possible
um but still felt they need this rub in
there to stop the to stop the leak so
the um uh this happened some time ago
and it seems that um it's
holding this is this the same this is
the same oh maybe it's not the same but
it's it's the uh they cut this out from
the wall of the mikah in order to repair
it so they have a special type of which
expands as it dries and therefore it
makes a pretty tight fit a barrel which
is made out of wood how does it get how
do you get it water tide it's made out
of a l pieces of wood but the wood when
it gets wet it expands and they expands
so much that it presses against the
other wood in such a way that it becomes
water
Ty and this was another place where they
had to get out the in in the same
construction site they had to get out
the some of the cement which was leaking
and the um they didn't have to go all
the way through it seems that part of it
was was pretty tight but it did they
went halfway through because of these s
holes which they had well when they saw
that when they saw that they went
halfway through past the rebar they saw
this part looked pretty
good and this is still another place
where they did that where they had to go
all the way through and there you have
the pieces of rubber again over here
which they put in it's a special type of
rubber and
um this
rubber they they put that in to stop it
from
leaking make a little
bigger okay so this is the the same the
same big when they repaired it they had
to make sure that the um part they
patched up would
be um would
not would be pressed against the mik
walls they put up all this whole
Contraption over here to make sure that
when they fill with concrete that it
will not um fall out or be loose but it
should be tight in the place where it
was um
where it was patched it looks like
there's a box over here they didn't just
fill the space that was dug out they
they filled more um no they put a
special box over there which um would
not just wood there's something in there
but the actual wall was were flat after
they finished could R address how much
mikah has to leak in order to be a
problem and how do how does one know
okay there's two things once M starts
leaking no matter how small the leak is
leaks have a tendency to get worse and
not better um
so which is brought
down that um if it it leaks less than 2
in in 24 hours it's considered in the
Caris but not everyone agrees with that
but that's a pretty much an accepted in
most places because you can't see at the
time you fell you can't see that it's
leaking it's only after 24 hours you see
that leak but if it's more than that
then it's
puzzle and if someone is that the m is
leaking test it how how can they tell
where it's leaking from how can I tell
when it's leaking okay so there's the
oldfashioned way to tell how mik's
leaking like this you take a toothpick
and you put it in the middle of the
water you come back the next day and you
take a look on which by which wall the
toothpick is the toothpick is going to
is going to go to the wall where the
leak is now you don't know where in the
wall the leak is is near the top is it
near the bottom well you fill it up
halfway and you put it in the middle
again if it doesn't go to the side
evidently the leak is in the in between
the top and the until where you filled
it so you filled up 3/4 and try it again
and that's the way how you get to where
the leak is if it doesn't move at all
the leak is in the in the floor straight
in the floor and what's the new way you
have say that's the old way that's the
old that's the old way how you tell how
you tell so the um there there once that
had a leak and we got an engineer to fix
it and he
says there's no way you can tell where
it's leaking so I told him the toothpick
thing he was very aspell from that he he
saw the amson it he
said sounds good sounds
good so we don't need a new way okay how
often does a Mikvah need to be checked
for
leaks we don't assume there's a leak
unless you uh unless all of a sudden the
the water is not on the same level one
day as the day before should someone be
looking for
that um it's important that the M be
koser if it is
if it is leaking let's say it leaks a
half an inch now the question is the
half an inch leak because of evaporation
or is actually a leak so the way to test
that is this is the old way to test it
is you fill the Mi to a certain
point and then you make a mark on where
to how much you fill it and you take a
bucket of water and you fill it to a
certain point and you leave the bucket
in the MRA room if the bucket and the
mikra both lose the same amount of water
then you know it's evaporation but if
it's only mik loses it and not the and
not the bucket so then you know that
it's problem in
the okay so now this is
a there is like this that the it says in
the in
the if all the water it comes from
and you pour it over the ground
and and from the ground it went to the
mikah but it originally was in a so was
so it's but if
was rather then it
is but m is M so
this says it should be a wi the says has
to be at least three
long the water runs over the three but
what's typical is that you have a a pipe
that ends up into the when when the pipe
is when the W is running it jumps over
it doesn't hit the ground right away and
first hits the ground after a few inches
so the part that actually hits the
ground has to be at least three three
now included is is this is all included
if the water hits it and and and this
even though it goes around the corner it
doesn't matter it doesn't have to be
straight and here it goes into a pipe
which goes into the bar this over here
is a cover on the bar it's a plastic
cover and it's cut out uh over here and
when you pick up this cover this Remains
the this half pipe the the significance
of this half pipe um I'm going to speak
about some later over here this over
here is a plexiglass piece
of flat piece of plexiglass which is put
into two IND indentations on the side of
this ham there's another one over here
here's an indentation and there's
another one on this side and it is to
direct the water if the water comes in
over here it can't flow over here to the
next bar or to wherever else is going to
go is forced to go down over here and
and into this pipe which goes into the
bar okay so here
here in this case here's an
indentation and um piece of Plex of
glass could be put in over here there's
also one over here if you want to fill
up this bar so then you put in the
plexiglass over here and it
automatically go into into this
part I'm not sure exactly why this
plastic is over here I guess doing con
instruction um
this says should
be it should be Kaka which is really it
has to be
absorbed to able to absorb the the water
as opposed to the mikah itself this is a
wall of the mikah over here this this
wall and and this is also part of the
wall that you don't want it um to to
absorb water you want it to be as
waterproof as possible so the way you do
this is you put more sand into the mix
so usually the if if it's half sand now
you make it 3/4 sand and then it'll
absorb the water now
aric um
the farm he um held that this kak FL has
to be connected to the ground to the the
natural ground because he says
says that there's veins in the ground
and you want that this water should be
connected to all the veins of the water
in the ground in order that it becomes
what it was once is not sh anymore there
are even though if you make the
whole it's not it's
only it is even if you took the whole as
long as made on the water even though
was one sh him it makes it not Shu him
anymore he says this picture illustrates
an error that the Builder made the
previous picture shows that the Builder
had put a cement slurry over the loose
Mix Concrete to make it look
smoother we had to have them remove the
slurry so here in this picture they
removed
it

okay here we can see this is leaking
this is rusting okay so here we I'm not
sure exactly where this is but here we
have a rust
spot um in the concrete there's
something wrong over here there must
have been it could have been a nail
which when they put up the boards on the
outside to when they put the forms they
put a nail and the nail protruded from
the form into place where the concrete
is so then it maybe it enter the
concrete maybe an inch one half Ines not
significant there wouldn't be any
problem but if it's something from the
rebar inside that turn to the outside
that's much more of a serious problem
leaking not okay so they they try to
save money scre and they put in screws
they made in China where the stainless
steel
in China is very
often or they didn't bother because
thing still screws this looks good
before you put in the water but then
they start to rust so this really it
wouldn't Poss make these screws not that
deep but it discolors the the wall and
discol colors maybe in the water it's
not it's not
AB now this over here looks like a
exhaust pipe that um that pulls the
water out of the m b fi when you want to
change the water um typically this is
put into the wall but it doesn't have to
put in the wall just just put into the
wall for beauty uh purposes but not for
any Hala purposes 100% ction um but it
would look nicer if you didn't have
anything on the walls outside the
walls okay so let me explain what this
is
the this is the top of the mro wall this
over here is the which is on top and the
water is coming out from the roof down
this pipe and this over here is a pipe
which has is open on on three sides it
was open here it was open here it was
open over there where it's attached to
the other pipe now the reason why they
used this pipe this type and didn't use
just an the water comes down here
go flows down over here and then it goes
into this um half pipe and goes down
into into the
m so let me first explain the Lums
behind this P they could have used a
regular bend a regular pipe with a bend
that will go from this straight
direction to this direction is
uh that type of pipe really is form of a
CLE even though it's not being used as a
CLE over here but if you would take it
off and hold it with the two sides
towards the top the two ends it actually
hold water this type of pipe that you
this PPE of fixture this piece which has
three places where the where is open to
the outside there's no way that you can
hold it it would hold any water and so
that's why this is why they use that
even though this end they're not using
at all they're not using for any the
word only goes out that now when it
comes over here they could let it just
drip into the mikah but there's a sha
with that because this mikah has
a it has it goes from this bar into the
mikah so there's a hole on the other
side of this wall there's a hole on the
other side this this
one whichever W it will be there's a
hole and the water will go down over
here and when it fills up it's going to
go through the hole into the
B now if if that
happens says that this water which flows
down here and goes over here into into
the hole into whichever wall the hole is
is really not standing water it is water
which is
flowing and has to have standing water
and I'll be running water that's problem
we is it just running water so in order
to get around that problem you force the
water over here so when it goes in go
down beneath the hole at this point
beneath the hole it is not flowing it's
only flowing above the hole or at the
place the hole the hole is not going it
becomes M Water this place and then if
it goes up again later and starts moving
it's not a problem now really what we're
dealing with this water is coming from
the roof it's not really such a problem
but if for some reason they want to put
in regular water once you have
saw once you have 40 saw rather you can
put in regular water over here put a
hose in over here and the water will
flow then it will only become koser Mel
water if it actually mixes with this
mckel water beneath the place where the
hole is and then when it runs out it all
becomes water through the 40 so which is
already in this
place thing that would City go here one
no initially initially you have have 47
rain water once you have that and let's
say it holds 80 C and the water cell is
going down for whatever reason
evaporation some way so you want to fill
it not not always practical rain water
number one because rain water very often
is dirty because it comes from the roof
and number two is sometimes in summer
doesn't rain for a couple of months so
then you can actually go with regular
water has to go to and then if go down
over here then it will become MC Water
by being in the
M
okay okay so this is this
shows um just different angle the same
thing to show that it's open all over
here it is at this point the water would
run down over here this it goes It goes
down there a slope it goes in here and
goes down this pipe
as I I suggested it whates the
KE
same okay now here's an interesting
thing so the whoever made this
mikra this looks like mik so the water
comes down over here and this is a k
mikah maybe it's not accessible to the
public and the water goes through this
hole um and fills up over here and this
is the place where the people use now
for some reason the bu did not listen to
the instructions and he made this host
uh it's only 1/2 in pipe and it has to
be at least two and4 inch
pipe 3 in pipe but he didn't have the
pipe handy or whatever reason I don't
know why he didn't do it so now after
he's finished um he said what should I
do I said well you have two choices
either drill this out this pipe and put
in a 3in pip but you should know if you
do that you might be drilling into the
rebars are to know exactly where it is
or make some more holes make these holes
and if all together they have
the so then it also be it doesn't have
to the first doesn't have to just one
hole is that the only make for the RO
has seen like that pretty much pretty
much they only make uhhuh but why didn't
they just make one other hole a bigger
hole cuz um the one who did it his drill
that he had with him was only made that
size
hole
he's asking are those holes too high no
the holes have to be lower than the top
of this hole cuz as it is we figured out
on paper exactly how many holes you had
to make this hole um the water has to be
filled at least here and all those holes
are beneath that benath that
space okay we're going to get to some of
the questions that you're asking in a
minute let's just get through these

perspective this is the mik from the

from the outside where the water's

pipes together um when you do that you

space between the two pipes that can
hold water so what typically is done
that you put you smear the inside with
the coron compound to make sure it's all
smooth inside and the two pipes because
this is the third this is the third pipe
this one that keeps these this one
together with this this one so they they
put Cork and comound inside to make sure
there's no place where the water can
gather what if a pipe has a
crack is's
asking if it has a
crack um it is if the crack goes all the
way through the pipe it's even more
prusher than if it didn't have a crack
CU now for sure it can't hold
water okay so this is really what
happened over here that this water is
coming from from the
roof um this is was the normal drain
pipe which went out into a parking lot
and was connected over here now they
disconnected it over here this is pipe
is not connected in order they could
connect this pipe with this T this is a
t on the top and water went over here
it's connected to the SE pipe and here
was connected to the pipe connection was
saw before and from here it goes into
the building into the into the M now
over here this is the uh this is the the
uh drain pipe no it's called g g this is
a g it's a metal G but if you can notice
that it's on a slight angle in order
that the water they make it ESP a slight
angle in order that the water should go
down this through this hole over here in
the B to go through all the way down
here okay so here you can see better a
closeup this is the this is the uh T and
over here is the place where there was a
hole in the pipe now you can't see from
over here but at the end of the pipe
they took off the cap because if it has
a cap so then actually could hold some
water from past this place is going at
an angle downwards so actually can hold
water over here so should not be able to
hold water this C was taken off any
water that would not go down through
this hole would just go into the ground
they're asking if the the roof permits
metal
gutters I have no problem with
permitting metal
gutters um the the problem metal gutters
is not that it is
a it's not that it become because we
took care not become because took off
this end over here so it's not a CLE
that can hold water the question is it's
tum and when you make a m the water has
to come
in it has to come in through not through
T So number one it goes through this
passing pipe
which is not the doesn't say PL
pipes talks about metal pipes and then
even it would
be the bottom before it goes into into
the into the actual B it go through over
some concrete that's enough that it's
not
considered so you you can start a with
the
snow um because snow does not become but
you can't just take the snow and put it
into the M you have to put it on a board
outside the M let it slide in so it
should

without any problems as a matter of fact
all the old before that Plastics
everyone was made of metals no one had
any problems with
it now if they would if if they would
design a Mah I would put it in TS
because um people feel more comfortable
with them but from standpoint there's no
problem this was there before they built

yes okay we have some questions here um
um
um go back a little
bit okay the question again about koses
for leaks if we are not Kish for leaks
is it ever necessary to check at all
going back to that issue um we only
check initially when you build a mikah
you have to check it for leaks to make
sure there has aaka that doesn't have
any leaks because the beginning has no
once you've established that there's no
leaks so then you only have to check it
if there is a reason to believe that
maybe you come back and you see the
water is not there's usually a line
around the mikah to like a different
color tile You' fill it to that line if
once you come you see that it's um an
inch beneath it so then if you have a
reason to suspect there a leap you have
to check it okay what is the R's opinion
of a floating PL the cover are there any
shers when you remove the
cover
um what is the purpose of the
cover oh the floating P I know what mean
the purpose of the cover of a floating
passive cover is to keep the humidity
out of the building and to keep the heat
in the mikah there's absolutely no
problem with it um even if some water
gets on top of it and when you take it
out it goes back into the m there's
absolutely no problem as long as you
have 40 saw hopefully you'll have 40 saw
in there besides the water on top of the
cover okay let's go to another
uh another set of pictures here this
this coloring here is a little bit off
because of the florescent lighting but
it's really uh just the inside of the
building so this is a similar idea
that and this is where the water goes
down into into the B this is where this
is a um this not a t this is a pipe
straight pipe and they made a hole in
the pipe and they put this into the
hole um with a hope that the water is
going to run down this way um which I
think the wish I think it did but this
is not so easy this was not cut straight
it was cut with a it was cut to fit this
hole which they made in this pipe and um
they probably SED it with cocon compound
or something to make it fit which is
100% Co this is a

yes okay so this is the inside of the k
m there's two Buras not that you need
two burs it's just a practical thing
that you can clean out this side and
then when you fill it up above this hole
so which the board on the other side
it'll be a c you can you can clean this
mikah and do backwards and forwards you
can do that as many times as you want as
long as you have one mikah that's intact
while you clear out the other as a
matter of fact
the in press was that way that there was
steps going down on this side and steps
going on that side when they wanted to
um clean this makeer took out the water
and then they filled it up again with
regular water until the hole and then
they went and they clean out the other
side and that's it was
okay so this is water is coming in it
goes through the water goes through a
hole over here this is the hole from the
goes through a hole into the
bar the same
thing

building and this water this instead of
using a t joint they just uh drill the
hole in in the pipe in this pipe which
is going into the building and they just
drill the hole and the W came splashed
over here and then because the angle of
of this pipe it went down into the

pipe that came off the gutter and went
in over here beneath this part this is
over here there's a there's a question
over here because the water maybe could
collect on this place where it's um IND
so this pipe went beneath it and
um they this pipe they made a hole in
this pipe and this pipe went all the way
down over here and here they put a
cookon compound this
is because over here actually if you
turn it around you turn this pipe around
and now it can't uh this was sealed but
it doesn't matter they attached it first
to the building they sealed it so that's
that's
question okay so this is the all right
so over here you can see that for over
here they took off the cap at the end of
this Gutter and the water went down into
this metal pipe and went down over here
and this is what we saw before how it
was attached over here went down over
here and then it went
the
so you can see it better there's there's
actually a hole in this gutter where the
water goes down over here but the cap
taken off over here in order that it
should not be considered a k because
this is going in a downwards Direction
so the water should flow down into this
pinee and it may be able to hold water
over here the end so that's why the C is
taken
off
so this this is the same idea but if you
take if you look carefully you can see
that the distance from the top of the
roof until the gutter over here is
slightly less than the distance over
here to the top of the gutter because
it's going on a downward it's going
downward slightly in order that the
water that comes off this roof is if
that roof should go down into this
point do the same same okay let's take a
few questions that we've been
getting
um does r have any Aces how to control
splashing from the filter on the way
back on the way back in I lose a
tremendous amount of water because of
it does understand is that clear um yes
I don't know the way to control the
splash splashing from the filter is that
when the water before it go into
the let's say a foot maybe before if you
can widen the pipe um then it will not
Splash so much but I think that maybe
you're losing the water
because the ham is supposed to be um por
porous and you're losing the water
because going into the ground uh maybe
it's too porous and if you make a little
bit less porous
it would be you wouldn't lose all that
water okay we did get another
question
in about the temperature of the water
um it's my understanding that rabman
holds that the temperature of the Mika
must be 94 to 95 degrees and must never
exceed 98 first is that an accurate
representation of Rim's position second
if so what is M for that is my
understanding that m is water should not
be yat which is much higher than 94
95 okay um there

when it is not considered water anymore
and then not considered a to begin with
but there's Tak that you should not go
into hot water and when I made this
mikah in Sun place and I worked out a
system that the water could not get to
more than 98 Degrees which is which is
called
and was brought down to check it out he
was very happy with this system that I
put up that it could not get to more
than because there's some she say this
pule if it is harder than that so it's
very difficult to rely on ther on
thermostats and thermometers exactly to
the degree between
93 and 94 is a very comfortable
temperature for most people and that's
what I insist on

aspects that you

and would there be any from either non
kabad or kabad who would have a
pbook I can't guarantee that no one's
going to have a pi book well I say is
that if you have all the aspects covered

PVC really they used to use terracotta
pipe terracotta pipe is like
concrete um and that was fine um the
meic today is to use plastic pipe
basically because it's cheaper and and

waterproof but

you could use it now if you need if
you're using for the this pipe then
terra cotta is the only one you can use
you cannot use plastic pipe because it
has to be Roy laer it has to be able to
absorb and a

been important to make sure it doesn't
rise and um doesn't get pushed off I
guess they didn't put it in
yet

which is put in and
um it goes over here between this is
where they P the concrete evidently this
wall this wall hadn't been put up yet
because um because there would have be
one wall here and another wall over

okay so this is how the water came into
the mikah the water came down from the
roof now over here there is a metal
gutter but what happened was they put a
pipe plastic a plastic pipe on top of
this metal gutter the P pipe was only a
half pipe no was fo lengthwise so one
end of the pipe was put under the
asphalt shingles
and this pipe was was resting on this
metal metal gutter which was underneath
it now this is the pipe drain pipe that
goes to the to the ground for the from
the metal pipe but the W didn't go into
the metal pipe the water went into this
half plastic pipe over here they cut a
hole into the side of the PIP they just
put put it on same thing over here so
the water went it went this way went
down this pipe and if went this way it
went down this pipe um probably did the
same thing over here and then this pipe
over here goes into the basement of the
house where they had the where they was
about a
m there's a question on the previous
picture um if they are using rebar why
aren't they using the green
one or maybe it is green um no it wasn't
green there's no that rebound has to be
green it could be black just as good but
why is he asking about green is there
something special that green better
rebar he says it's a better rebar what
he says okay so these evidently maybe
when this was built they didn't have the
green one

went like this into the basement of a
building this is the pipe that brought
the rain water in and it probably went
into a

pumps out the water from the Mika pumps

so then this valve will be shut off this
one be this which is off we put on on so
the water will be forced up over here
and it forced up here it probably went
into a
drain okay you want to go back to the

there's another thing over here that
this water over here this is a city
water and when they want
to um add when they want to um clean the
mik they can just that City water goes
through the
samaka and it will go into the
bar and from there go into the me so
they want to add water they want to add
water want change the water they don't
change the bir water the the water in
the B stays there but the water in the
Bas side to if they wanted to change it
they could do it that way so there must
be some way of directing the water on
the other side of the water there must
be the must go somehow into a
bar okay
okay so this over here is the end of
that ham it goes through the wall and it
comes out over here it goes down in this
white pipe over here now this looks like
it's a barab bar because you see this
hole over here in this ple PL glass
which has um divided the top half of the
from the bottom half of the bar and then
it goes through this hole into the base
f no it's not mik it has one bar under
the other but the mik is that the is in
the place where
they they Mar been on
that they Mar on
that okay now this is interesting thing
that nothing to do with M but has to do
with how you keep the mik warm see the
these are
are um radiant heat pipes these are
pipes which you put when when you put
them on the ground like this hot water
runs through them they cover with
concrete and when all these PS cover
with concrete but when you put on the
heat it goes through it heats up the
floor of the mikah and the floor of the
mikah Heats up the water on top of the
mikah so this is a uh very um it's a
good way to heat up a mik because the
heat in the mik is even because heat
rises as opposed if you have a heating
element on the side of the mikah very
often the Bottom's going to be cold the
middle of it is going to be uh lukewarm
and the Top's going to be boiling on if
there's a problem with this how does one
fix it you pour the cement over here so
you pour the cement over here now these
boards I assume are there just to uh
keep the um to keep the pipes in place
until after the cement is poured they
will take them
out okay let's go over some some
questions there does the r have any
aor yeah to suggest to engineer to the
engineers finding that the soil is Sandy
and somewhat somewhat watery which
suggests the need for very strong
foundational Shoring to ensure Integrity
of the building because of the depth of
the dig this is very expensive is there
any
ASA um typically what what you do is you
put in a couple of feet of
stone into the into the on top of the
Sandy Earth and um since the weight is
dispersed over the whole B the whole M
it's going to be full of water it weighs
many tons and it won't it's not going to
move
okay um there was another question here
is Terra Cotta absorbent enough for the
amaka
have
it okay but they should do like the r
said before mixing the sand into the
cement correct

Shoring so you only need uring where the
weight is put on a certain place like if
you have a scaffold so there are
pillars and if all the weight is
concentrated in one place and there's no
weight on the sides of it they're going
to go down into the ground but if you
have a mikah which has a a floor which
is all the way distributed over the
whole area of the mikah uh maybe the
whole mikah after after many years might
sink in a little bit that's going to
happen any place if it SS in a little
bit so then you'll have to uh it's it's
not the mik is not going to leak because
so because the Earth is
Sandy generally not a problem since all
the weight is distribute over such over
maybe 8 10 feet by 15 ft or whatever
theis is it should not be a
problem okay um

I read that right the interf of the
building Integrity of the building is

question okay it sounds like it's it's a
detailed question maybe he should call
the r directly to discuss how what they
could
do the person who asking people asking

this there's two ways how to build a
building the expensive way is that you
first put up the walls you need a
foundation for the walls and then you
put the floor inside the
walls that's the expensive way to do it
and that's the way that's usually done
but the better way how to do it is to
first pour the floor the whole floor and
and you make a little bit thicker than
normal usually it's uh three 3 or 4 in
the floor you'll make it 6 in and then
you build a building on top of the floor
building then nothing's going to go
anywhere it's it's not going to uh sink
in because the whole floor takes the way
to the building and that way you
shouldn't have any problems I'm not a
builder but I'm just saying that that's
seem me the easy way to do it okay I
