foreign I figured I'd give you a call I'm on the way into Brooklyn I want to know if you uh had time to you know get together for lunch or Kappa schmooze you know what we have choir practice today so I got maybe how about the following idea maybe you could pick up the kids on the way to practice and then they would pick me up and then we'll be coming for the process had to be fun well I can come into choir practice nothing you better bring your dancing shoes oh boy wow okay I'm excited they're definitely definitely sounds interesting I'll text you the address where the kids are okay okay please thank you okay see you soon bye see you soon got some kids here to pick up got some kids here to pick up any boys choir kids yeah would you rather your parents picked you up no no so who do we have here not me what's your name Alicia Cohen Alicia Cohen ellia Leo Olivia so who between the four of you who's been the quiet the longest so far um okay it's between me and Alicia yeah so how long have you been in the choir like two years about yeah what's your story though my story I'm I'm a music fan music fan I grew up listening to amboy's choir I am from Montreal Canada and one of my cousins introduced me to one of the early Miami choir albums I think it must have been uh or Tara today and I just I was crazy and for me to say come pick up the kids and take them to choir practice I was like great anyways I got some music you guys wanna listen to something [Music] fireworks [Music] foreign and you're learning these dance moves which I'm sure are not easy yeah a lot of patience do you do you does your smell like tape the dance moves and send them home with you that you should watch or you no you have to learn them live outside for himself and also when we first come in because maybe some people forgot it so it tapes it so we could re-watch it and we're like and everybody goes oh you guys you gotta pick up your Camille you know what that means it'll be on your best behavior oh yeah and you got to go to the back I'll go to the back no everybody else no everyone's gonna stay here let's just uh switch over yeah how you doing boys it's unbelievable opportunity you could get a ride here directly to choir practice I hope you're not gonna start calling me every week well we'll see how good of a drive you are because they were very very you know really yeah behaved very well almost like the man was choir involved yeah but uh you don't know what the old kids were believe me you're right you know it wasn't until you did the Rev after we got to peek a little bit behind some of the traveling and everything no no I could tell your stories where we went on a trip I went to Europe and uh this goes back to 1980 Something and uh we're doing this unbelievable tour and after a show I think it was an Antwerp somebody come out somebody tells me you know what uh a kid is standing and dancing on top of a bus and I said what was I went outside and this kid it was a little hyperactive was dancing a type of bus so you don't know what was going on are you seat belts people here oh it's seat belts listen safety first right yes 100 so what's the story you have any music yeah let's go guys foreign [Music] foreign [Music] [Applause] [Music] thank you oh [Music] I'm playing forever you know because suspended we don't resolve to the court I was gonna say was this song Hard teaching it to the kids because they would have that little uh phrase catch the beginning yeah they learned it right away it's like you know the talented kids somebody was teaching for 10 years goes through hundreds of students thousands of students you're doing the choir for 40 years right do you have a number amounts of how many kids actually went through the quad I don't know I don't know it's Gotta mean to thousands uh every choir you got a green like Bible just in case you want to know New York someone's gonna honk okay yeah I'll go I'll look at it or they think you're on your phone or they think so 25 to 30 kids in a choir sometimes 35 right each choir stays in for about uh three years okay and then this overlap of new choir correct so if you've got 40 years hmm well it's probably let's say just four years it's got to be like about 14 groups because over the years that's got to be about five six seven hundred yeah something like easily yeah try it out from ten thousand I don't even think about that I'm just trying to think about having the quiet if you can imagine you track down every kid in the choir and got them together for a performance pick up the whole stage yeah well you talk about all the kids that used to be in the Houston yeah everybody saying that I should do a reunion right the problem is we need of which year that's the problem yeah reunions to their fathers you either their grandfathers already yeah we're Union of who where is it gonna be held right I need a place with fifty thousand Miami school Jewish song I guess when the building goes up eventually when the building goes up it stands still who's in 1983 people gonna hang out with the 1996 people they don't know who they are but they have this connection with the stickers we have a song from the olden days that we can actually do what do you got what do you got what do you got I have lots of those you got a lot of your cigaras you gotta do War like this switch I gotta switch you gotta not hit the car I have a double a hard job [Music] [Applause] [Music] to everybody [Music] [Applause] let's go I remember that I do remember this I told them now come on [Music] choreography movement's gone something like that I don't remember what does it take for you what are you what are you looking for what qualities oh a really bad voice is a starting point that's the starting it must have been him right oh it's just you know I don't know what it is why but no look listen kid has to be a Miami kid what's a Miami kid Miami kid sort of it means in the winter he goes with his family right that's usually what it means right but in this situation a Miami kid is some oh God I got I got a phone call in the middle of a carpool karaoke terrible I don't know anyway you know we got to get to the quiet practice in a few minutes right you know because I know I really appreciate you picking everybody up so we're gonna go back around that right but anyway the next year question a Miami kid is sort of like has has his act together the enemies got a singing he knows how to sing he holds himself the way he understands how to deal with other kids he has his behavior together and you can tell that from rehearsal what second he's got his learning he learns to Yeshiva well this is a Miami all around he's got his act together so he checked all their market report cards and made sure backgrounds no I hired a private investigator to make sure right yeah but I tell you what it is it's just the uh to be really straight with you yeah when you when a kid tries out I could pretty much tell most about the kid in the first 30 seconds really not sometimes I get surprised later on you know everybody's like a kid dancing on the bus you're a vocal teacher for children at a very hard age when they're trying to learn how to use their voices you know how to sing but they have to know how to they're not trying to use the voices they don't know anything more than um then be able to you know just to be able to they're singing they don't know anything about why they sound good but first you have to know about singing right about singing about do you think about Pitch about voice about timings your mom is giving them voice lessons and breathing exercises so uh you know there is breathing exercises everything give me a breathing exercise guys that's it well are you good we have to learn how to breathe the idea that you should breathe yeah definitely it's a journey it's a real joke but they're in the choir for three years four years five years it's not an accident that so many Miami kids are going on to musical careers I think there was a clip of of this song already being sung at hopo like not even a week two weeks after the album's all right actually I got calls from other people that they have other people singing it at weddings and different symbols already out there wow Elio sings it really [Music] foreign [Music] you didn't tell me what to do got a bunch of karaoke but he can't step his foot so just now you can do it just said nothing this is the test one two three go ahead [Music] [Applause] so [Applause] [Music] um okay hold on so who do we have here names please my name is David turkey my name is Isaac turkey Young you guys are related yeah brother uh my name is Ellie zilberg everyone knows this one [Applause] [Music] you know I got his eyes Yiddish [Music] unfortunately [Music] emotions [Music] Reach Out your feet [Music] oh this is the choreography yep I didn't learn it yet so what's your favorite part about being the Miami Boys Choir just everything everything is amazing so how hard is it how hard is it to live the dance steps the entire time I mean it's really hard yeah but by the way the hardest part of the choreography is not learning it what is it affecting facting is fiction how does one perfect choreography I don't know practice perfect practice that's what they all said that's what my dad says he drives me drives me to Brooklyn every Sunday I live in the New Jersey let's try something different okay like yeah well let's see what's going on much better where's the gas pedal um so I think it's easy to be me huh yeah it is yeah let's see yeah so how's it going how's it going it's going great what is your name my name is wow you know I actually met someone who had a similar name to you really what was his name is yossi greenswag that's close to someone yeah very close what song do we do I don't know how to control this thing just turn it on oh yeah [Music] under control [Music] [Applause] [Music] there's no question [Applause] thank you let's go [Music] here where are you yeah [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] questions [Music]
