Message from Dr. Rich Roberts regarding Chol Hamoed Sukkos Carnival 2023 - The Lakewood Scoop

hi I'm rich Roberts Castel Roberts Dr Roberts whatever this is hopefully a quick update on the Carnival that's happening tomorrow Colo at sucus um and the in the Blue Claw Stadium parking lot there are a bunch of updates I'm going to try to go rapid fire there's a new theme this year I'm going to ask for people which is to care about others or think about others most people the carnival these carnivals are very very well behaved very respectful but I am going to bring up this theme of thinking about others in a number of things the subjects that we're going to come up to the first of all the part the uh it's going the carnival is going to be in the parking lot of blue claws but there's a recreational vehicle um uh display or or event going on uh after the carnival is over in in the coming days so there so where we typically would have the carnival we can't be in that part of the parking lot anymore so when you drive in you'll see we're just located to a different spot the parking Arrangement will be a little bit different please listen to the the LPD like leg Police Department Kum and uh everything should go very smoothly the carnival is starting at 11:30 to uh Tuesday morning and one of these things about caring about others is I've instructed that there should be no Nosh no popcorn no cotton candy there nothing should be given to anyone who shows up earlier than 11:30 the staff is very very busy uh it's it's um Shia leafer is running the the carnival and he and his staff are extremely busy and um it's really not fair to others when the carnival starts at 11:30 for people to show up earlier and to think that they can start sitting in the tents uh to get ready for shows I think they can um get uh toys or or candy we're not going to do that we're going to be thinking about others the ones who sort of follow the rules and nothing will be given out at 11:30 when it starts so please think about others the tent layout is changing the um on the liquid scoop I received a lot of feedback from from people about projecting like the schedule on screen or projecting the the shows on on on the ceiling because people are sitting so far back from the stage excuse me so uh in the tent where the Storyteller is which is not usually too overly crowded that's staying the same but the other tent we're going to be having the the um what do you call the Chicago boys uh group doing acrobatics and the Rope Warrior um shows going on what we're doing is and this is came from rabbi leafers um group their their ideas is that we're going to move the stage to the center of the tent now the performance has to take into account all you know the people are sitting all around the stage and not just on one side of it what it means is everybody will actually be about at the worst you know 50% closer than they would have been if they were in the very back and should be much better visibility all around will it would allow it will allow us also to lower the stage from 4 feet down to 3 feet and we're planning to put the speakers on the perimeters of the tent again not to block anybody's view so you'll notice that that difference um again we're talk about caring about others the aisles are made to be clear so people can come in and go out those who who go to the shows early enough and they sit down in the seats that's they're doing what they're supposed to do it's really not fair to be blocking the aisles to be standing up in the aisles um because someone came late put carriages in the aisles it's really not not fair it's not fair to those who did the right thing got there you know early enough and sat down and got seats the shows are going on throughout the day and if it feel you can come back later later in the day when there hopefully be more room so please don't do that also please no one should again we when and when we have walls around tents there's entrances people should not break open the walls of the tents and walk through we're doing that for a reason we will also have more ushers in the tents we've upgraded the number of ushers to try to keep the aisles free so please think about others care about others who have done the right thing who are sitting down and do not stand in the aisles do not block the aisles and the aisles are not you see they're free they're not free they are occupied they're occupied to be open for people to to come in and go out and not to block those that are sitting so the aisles are not places to be um to to be uh viewing the shows sorry my screen turned off and I have some notes here um for the nsh we've been giving out for a number of years now 10,000 nshes 10,000 prizes because the carnival was so um oversubscribed last year we're increasing the number to 13,000 nshes and 13,000 uh prizes for the kids we're also trying to increase the cotton candy from 470 pounds uh output to 700 lb and this included boys were trained um during this last week at at the sh k& that sponsors uh colon aam that sponsors this event and we have we bought extra machines so if one is broken it'll come offline and the new a new machine will be put in place of it we've also bought you know a little a little hardware store of of extra parts so be able to fix the machines and they won't be sitting offline very long so hopefully we're going to get much much more nsh out much much much more cotton candy out now when again talking about fairness or caring about others the the um the nause it's being given out and the prizes are only for children that show up and get their hands stamped their hands marked so if you have you know oh you please like please don't hassle the boys you know oh my my sick child is in the car uh my you know five kids are in the car and I only have two kids here no if there's two kids here they get two I got 27 kids at home muzzle Tu very nice of you but it's only the two kids who are here who are getting the the uh bag of candy and who getting the prize so um please don't try to get stuff don't try to fight with the with the people are Distributing the prizes and the and the candy it's really only for kids that are there at the carnival for water you will see water bottles but that's only for the staff that's working at the carnival it's a long day it's a hot day uh and that's who it's for there are maps all around the car all around the the the facility or all around the property showing you where the water station is it's actually attached to a fire hydrant the water from the fire hydrant goes through a water purifier so it's highly purified delicious water so look on the map and you'll see where the water stations are or station I should say one station and you can go there and get purified water um if you have questions uh please don't ask the staff questions um you know if there's an emergency downal 911 um havam and the LPD are also going to be there uh LPD if there's you know if there's any security issue there police armed police armed police officers you know all throughout the event and um there's a medical problem dial 911 um tellum they'll get somebody you know get somebody on it um but the people that are working at the carnival especially the MC's um please don't go ask them well well when's the next show where do I go there's maps all over the place there's schedules all over the place there's really you really don't need to ask questions and it's it's very very disruptive for the people who are working very hard uh to do this this great mitv it that they're doing uh to try to uh make it a an increasingly sweet experience uh on H modid for the children and and their parents um I think that is about it I want to thank everybody for watching this video and I hope to see you
