>> Good morning RABBI VOICE
I
WHAT IS THIS MESSAGE TO US TO SMART HOW
WOULD I DO WHAT I DO I FEEL IT?
I would say massive seal expecting close
to a thousand people at the scene it's
going to be unbelievable.
A lot of surprises.
In Armonot Chain, a double hall.
Two.
>> [laughter]
>> I can always
There is there is parking. There is
parking.
Yes.
I love it. Love it. Love it.
If there's room if there's room which
ladies that do the daf ladies that don't
do the daf. Some ladies I I don't think
so. It's Bnei Brak.
Maybe I don't know. Speak to the I don't
think so. We don't have a plan for it
yet but maybe maybe it's not a bad idea.
Not a bad idea.
We
are looking for sponsors. It's
subsidized by Moshe Cohen himself the
owner of the hall and we're charging a
hundred shekel but there's still a lot
of cost on top of that close to twenty
thirty thousand dollars minimum.
Toronto satellite Thursday nights.
A lot of children there. A lot of
children. Wow.
And adults. And adults.
What a room.
Canada.
>> [snorts]
>> This is your friend Simcha Firestone. I
would say check this out. Good evening.
My name is Simcha Firestone.
In the last several years I've been
learning and growing and listening to on
a daily basis one of the most powerful
energetic and learned Torah scholars of
our generation.
He is world known.
Smart, funny.
Nice.
And I am very grateful that I am
am able to be his student in the
apartment of life.
I would like everybody to please stand
as we welcome and call up my rebbe and
teacher Rabbi Eli Stefansky.
I got Wait wait wait wrong speech. Wrong
guy.
>> [laughter]
>> It's the wrong speech he said.
He's trying to call up Rabbi Ephraim
Goldberg. He was calling up Rabbi
Ephraim Goldberg.
And he got the wrong speech.
>> [laughter]
>> There's more laughs in this room than
over there I think. I don't know if
they'll appreciate it over there.
Yeah.
At my son's
uh
a Sheva Brachas so one of his friends
gets up and and says "B'shos
the the the the biggest maker of cheer
in America and this a whole a whole long
this and then he pulls out a picture of
Rabbi Shmuel Bornstein. She got uh
I got on the plane today. I look across
the aisle and see this person completely
engrossed in the daf with airpods,
iPhone and a Gemara full of sticky
notes. You should recognize him. Believe
it or not it's on the same day I believe
that he himself donated Neil Halpern
donated the daf.
This is an interesting one. As you
recently got started this year got kind
of pulled in good way by my two friends
Mordechai Nakash and Ari Hershkowitz. I
figured since he started Menachos
get ready for Chulin. It's really
amazing cheishek Torah. While I was
learning watching with my eleven year
old Volvi came over my my eleven year
old Volvi came over and asked me you're
learning Stefansky I was surprised told
him I just started. He tells me he's
been learning the shiur for a while
already apparently behind my back lol.
This this generation you never know what
they're doing behind your back. They
might be learning shiurim and watching
clips. He started pushing me to learn
with the daf so with Rabbi Shmuel we
started Chulin together we're going to
start Chulin together somehow. So he and
we also set up
Listen to this. They they decided we
also set up that if when we finish
Chulin we're getting sponsored tickets.
They already know where they're getting
sponsored tickets from my dear friend
Mordechai Nakash.
Come to the shiur just giving you a
heads up.
So just a small comment yesterday's
shiur by the Carbon Yisrael there was a
picture showing poor middle class and
rich. And it felt very it felt a little
stereotype. Why is a Chassid poor a
Yeshivish middle class and modern
American boy rich?
I couldn't get out of my head so I
figured I'd write. As a Chassid Baruch
Hashem there are plenty of wealthy
Chassidim. Not sure we always work in
the usual traditional way but we figure
it out. Thank you again for everything
you do.
>> [laughter]
>> It's really inspiring. All the best.
Yosef Weiszberger. What's interesting is
that
Let's see when this one came in. I
didn't look at the date or the time but
I know that they were both together in
these emails. It says on top Thursday
April 23rd 6:51 p.m. Thursday April 23rd
2:31 p.m. Here's a woman who doesn't
like the way we depict women like we
have that lachluchas and why we're
showing lachluchas.
Um
Bringing Carbon Site uh for long time
we've depicted women in a Talmudic
shiur. I don't understand the issue but
I didn't say that we may
once have a humorous way to avoid a
sensitive topic seems now in light of
development of Daf Yomi in general.
Uh to be honest say many women learn the
daf some very fine daf were given by
women.
Blah blah blah.
Okay.

I would say a few surprises today. One
of the best videos AI videos that we
produced is an idea given by one of our
Kollel Yungeleit Rebbi Mendy Auerbach.
I'm not joking.
He comes he's part of our Kollel.
He's part of our Kollel. Actually he
gets a little stipend I think.
>> [laughter]
>> But he did give an idea.
It's going to be known it's going to be
famous around the world. When I saw it
the first time I was on the floor
laughing hysterically.
It's called Middois. Middois with a with
a samach at the end. Midot.
Measurements Middois. [clears throat]
Is that that's the that's the name. But
you have to wait until close to the end
of this shiur to see it.
Also also I'm telling you right now
on the way mamish literally walking in
the way here Hashem Baruch Hu gave me an
idea so I said if if he threw it into my
head we got to do it.
And the idea consists of
>> [cough]
>> a little
we're going to do a little um
competition thank you. A little
competition where the prize money is two
thousand dollars a thousand dollars five
hundred dollars and all it takes is
making a short thirty second one minute
video l'kovod Chulin. Think about it.
I'm going to talk about it in middle of
the shiur. I'm going to show you a video
that somebody sent me this morning and
it got me going what if there were more
of these videos
how many people would join the daf. So
and see.
So says the Heilige Mishna we're mamish
in middle of the middle of the daf kuf
beis amud beis.
Ho Omer
ah
Ho Omer Harei alai Menachos.
You know
that there are two types of Menachos.
There's many types of Menachos. But two
that are very very similar, but done in
they're they're they're baked in
different ways. One is a machvas, a very
short like a pan, flat pan.
And one is a marcheshes, round, shallow,
thank you, shallow pan.
And one is a marcheshes, a deep pan.
They have the same ingredients, but one
burns off the oil quicker and therefore
is a harder like almost like a matzah
kind of thing. The other one is more
like a lafa, more like a chewier kind of
dough. If you remember we had this
>> vessel?
Would you like a machvas or a
marcheshes? The art is amazing. The
The havar is a little annoying to me.
According to Rabbi Yose Hagelili, a
marcheshes had a cover while a machvas
had no cover.
And according to Rabbi Chanina ben
Gamliel, the machvas is shallow so
there's no room for the oil so the
mincha comes out hard. While the
marcheshes is deep, it bakes in the oil
and comes out soft.
Okay. So
if a person
promises, he makes a neder, I'll bring a
machvas, I'll bring a a shallow frying
pan. Vehevi be marcheshes. Hoymer alei
be machvas, vehevi be marcheshes. In the
end they end up bringing the deeper one,
it's a completely different mincha.
So he's not yoitzei. He has to bring
another one.
Be marcheshes vehevi be machvas, the
opposite. He said I'm going to be bring
the chewier chewier one, the thicker
one, vehevi be machvas and he brought
the flat one. Masha hevi hevi.
So you don't have to throw it out. Why?
Because mistama he meant he had another
nedava.
He had something else going on in his
mind. He did another nedava at different
time.
V'dei chovas lo lo yoitzei. But this
that he promised
a shallow one and he brought a deep one,
you weren't yoitzei, you start over. But
don't throw out the one you brought
because maybe it's for something else.
What rebbeim say, think about for a
second, you'll all know the answer. If
somebody says zoo, this flower right
here zoo, is that called a neder or a
nedava?
How do you know?
Z'dai, zoo.
So but what does it mean? What does it
mean it's a nedava? It means that if you
point at something say this
then that it's this. You can't change
it. Zoo lahavi be machvas, he pointed to
this flower you say
this flower I want to go in a shallow
frying pan, vehevi but he took this
flower and he put in a deep one, now he
made a pasul. Made a pasul, you can't
you can't talk about this particular
flower and change its designation from
shallow to deep.
And the reverse also, zoo. If it not
doesn't say zoo, but he said zoo. Be
marcheshes vehevi be machvas. He pointed
to the flower to the bag, this whole bag
is bag is going to go in a deeper one,
but it went in a in a shallow one,
hareis pasul. Now you can't even use it.
Hoymer hareilai shnei esronois.
Yesterday I told Benny this this moshol
so I think I'll say it over. If somebody
promises to bring to the base I bring
this two animals
200 pounders and he brings one 200 pound
animal, yoitzei or not yoitzei?
No way. Not yoitzei. But it's the same
amount of pounds. It's a different type
of It's a different type of thing. If a
person says I'm going to bring two
menachos, two.
Each one requires its own kemitzah, its
own aktara.
But he doubles it up. Instead of a
typical mincha is how much? One isaron.
So he brings two esronim.
But he did it in one kli, not yoitzei
cuz he promised two.
And the same in reverse. If he promises
one
and he brings two. So let's say with an
animal, he promises one gezunta, hefty
200 pounder
and instead he brings
two smaller ones, 100. But he did
double. Well, that's good. No, not good
cuz he promised a 200 pounder, he needed
to bring a 200 pounder. If a person
promises one mincha of of two esronim
and he splits it up to two. It's not
that he did double, he didn't bring what
he promised.
>> [clears throat]
>> So I may hareilai shnei esronois lahavi
here.
He said I'm going to bring
two cups, two esronim, but at the end he
only ended up bringing This is not a
good moshol because it's not the right
size. But he brought one instead.
Mhm. [clears throat]
>> [cough]
>> Shkoyach Reb Breuer Schwartz.
The baal hamain.
What's What's very interesting about Reb
Breuer Schwartz, when I give him a
compliment once in a while, he only
picks it up 10 seconds later cuz he's on
a YouTube delay.
>> [laughter]
>> It's
It's funny, but he he listens
He listens in his ear. Okay.
Masha hevi hevi, v'dei chovas lo
yoitzei. [laughter]
Hoymer hareilai shnei esronois lahavi
bigli echod.
What?
No, no, here I'm I'm reading it. Hoymer
alei shnei esronois. He said I'm going
to bring two.
L'havi bigli echod. I'm going to bring
sorry, double measurement. Double
measurement, but I'm only going to bring
it in one vessel.
Vehevi bishnei keilim, he ended up
bringing in two. Bishnei keilim vehevi
bigli echod.
So basically he doesn't have the right
amount in the kli. He doesn't have the
right keilim.
Masha hevi hevi, v'dei chovas lo
yoitzei.
So you continue bringing it again,
perhaps another time he made such a
neder and he was it was two. So let him
bring the two and I'll have to bring a
different time the one.
But now here's the interesting case. Oh,
no. Eilu bigli now the same thing. If he
points at it instead of saying zoo, he
says eilu, these This is the flower.
Bigli echod vehevi shnei keilim.
Bishnei keilim vehevi bigli echod. He
specified the flower that's supposed to
go in, but he ruined it by putting it
into different types of vessels, two
instead of one, one instead of two,
hareilu pasul because he already
designated the flower, this flower like
a nedava, zoo, eilu, and can't change
it.
Same case rebbeim say, same exact case,
but there's a little variation at the
end. Hareilai shnei esronois lahavi
bigli echod, vehevi shnei keilim.
He said I'm going to bring two esronim
in one vessel.
And he brought it in two. That's exactly
what we had before. But
omru lei, his friends are standing there
and say what are you doing?
Okay.
Kohanim. I don't know that it has to be
kohain. Let's say Yisroel Karozel. Fine,
it doesn't matter who.
Mis- Probably the kohain, but what if a
Yisroel says side from with a from a
distance? Omru lei, bigli echod nodarta.
What are you doing? You're messing up.
So if he ignores it hikrivam shnei
keilim pasul. What's the whole svara
over here?
How come you could continue bringing
your carbon even though you messed up?
Cuz perhaps yesterday you made another
neder
and it fits your other neder, nobody
knows about it. But if your friends are
making a comment, they're they're
they're trying to fix it. And you don't
tell your friends, hey, no, no.
You got it wrong. I I made a neder
yesterday. You're right, you're right.
You heard me say two keilim, but right
now I'm bringing one kli cuz on Sunday I
said one kli. You should explain
yourself. If somebody says
If you just ignore them, that means you
don't care. If you don't care, that
means you're messing up now.
Yeah, you get it?
Good.
Bigli echod vehevi shnei keilim pasul.
Hareilai omru lei, bigli echod nodarta.
What are you doing? Why are you bringing
two? Hikrivam shnei keilim pasul. Bigli
echod, if he listened to them, that's
not a chiddush, he listened, he changed
his whole mouth, shair this kosher.
Hareilai shnei esronois lahavi bishnei
keilim. If he promised to bring two
esronim in two keilim, vehevi bigli
echod, he messed up on the amount of
keilim. Instead of bringing two
klishores, he brought in one. Omru lei,
his friends again making remarks,
bishnei keilim nodarta. What are you
doing? Why are you bringing one? You
said two.
Hikrivam shnei keilim shair. If he
brought in two, he listened to them, he
changed your your your route, shair.
Here's a little difference. Bishnei
keilim bigli echod, but if you put into
one kli, kishtei menachos shnei esronim.
This has a halacha, if anybody recalls
we learned about this. We have two
menachos that get mixed up. So if
they're not completely mixed in and you
can make out the two menachos. You see
this is mincha alef, this is mincha
bais, they're both in the bottom of a
giant frying pan. So you just take a
kemitzah and you go yoitzei. Nothing
happened. If they're mixed in, then you
have a problem.
Says the Gemara, utzricha.
Huh?
Okay.
Utzricha.
The Gemara simple utzricha say here, why
do I need two different cases of a guy
messing up between a a frying pan and a
deep dish and a guy messing up between
two esronim and one esaron? It's the
same idea. So di ashmin anaha k'meisa,
mishum d'omar if we're just talking
about a person promised to bring in a
marcheshes and he brought a machvas,
mishum d'omar k'meisa marcheshes.
Aval hak Okay, that's why you completely
messed up the type of mincha, it's a
different type. Aval hak didi be
machvas, you're bringing the same type.
Didi be marcheshes.
Aimi dinidri nami yoitzei. You brought
the right amount, it's the right amount,
just not in the right keilim. So I think
I'll let it go, let it slide. Maybe he
doesn't have to redo it. No, you have to
redo it. Vi ashmin anaha, and if it only
said the case of the the amounts and the
keilim
mishum d'kol palig lo. At the end of the
day you're breaking up your carbon. You
promised the a gezunta two esronim
uh
like what's two Australian in like 10
pounds and instead of you wrote two five
pounders. No good.
The
but by the Marches he brought the right
amount he just brought the wrong clay
MLA I'll let it slide I don't know
exactly why but I think so three car.
We
learned that
you could bring it but you have to you
have to bring you continue don't throw
it in the garbage it's okay it's a good
he probably meant he probably had
another another in mind but he has to
bring another one. But
in all the
every case if a person said in Marches
and he brought a
Marches
you you it's a
you it's a
zoo
because at the end of the day
I think it has to do with his he holds
it has to do with his Marches and he put
it he put into the into the Marches at
the end.
At the end he that that was his thing
okay.
Interesting.
zoo
If he said only this this flower I want
to bring in a pan
and he ended up bringing it in a Marches
it's possible.
Why is it possible? Take it out of the
out of the Marches and start all over
again. What did the pan do? What did the
what did the Marches do?
We
learned that the
doesn't have an effect on it. I'm
you're right it doesn't have an effect
to the point that you could continue
bringing it on to the
I will possible which we had the other
day it has enough effect to make to ruin
it.
Oh.
So what happens? You have
sponsors.
Sponsored by Bennys.
A person on Sunday says I want to bring
a carbon to the Migdash.
And on Monday he goes to the store and
he buys a bag of flour and he takes out
from the flour.
So when exactly does he decide that he's
going to bring a frying pan and a deep
dish?
At the time of his when he says when he
specifies I'm going to bring
a
Marches.
Now when he pulls the flour out of the
bag at that point it's too late you
can't decide then.
You decide already then.
When you're removing the flour from the
bag light why?
Says in the possible
as you make a
a vow
but not when you are
separating and removing and and putting
aside the flour.
It Marches
Omar
Hanina
It's Marches a freebie three lines of
freebie
we have a few freebies today. I will
you have to say by the time that you say
the it's all about again once again you
see the idea it's about
your speech
your
not the
of removing the flowers. When you say
I'm going to bring a Marches
Marches
why? Because it's
below Marches he fresh though.
I pointed out in the Hebrew share and I
want to point out here as well
that I feel privileged to sit in a room
where
there are a bunch of people in this room
who on
said hello with a car.
And there are a bunch of people in this
room
who said taco.
There are some people in this room
some people in this room [clears throat]
that fasted on Marches.
No there's nobody in this room that
fasted but maybe in the Hebrew share
there a few that show up there.
But at the end of the day we all get
along we're all friends and we all
respect each other's car.
My comes from my father
who gets it from his father sometimes I
question that sometimes I say I don't
understand maybe I should do like this
like that but this is what I do. So I
appreciate the fact that this year I
didn't receive any emails why did you
say happy Marches when you say this
every year I get a little you know stuck
from this one that one.
We have such a variety of people in the
same room the same room.
There's people that said hello without a
people with a people
people that didn't do anything just no
there's all types.
Some said hello
some
people had
some direction and they don't understand
how
no seriously it's I always have found it
interesting like you come to me like why
don't you do this and I don't come to
you and say why don't you do that? We
all have our
and we might be right we might be wrong
but
a bunch of
doing the same thing we're learning
together in the same room that's what
we're doing.
>> [applause]
>> I want to tell you
this morning my my my my son-in-law sent
me a clip that's going around I guess
from work with it's great. He brings
from Schmuel Schmuel said
the base on the Satmar of
you have to have a tremendous of life
to to all
why?
Because Satmar of says the analogy go to
the
because if you go to the
so
you're going to have to have a
to have. So if you go to the you have to
have a to have.
It's a more to give up.
According to the Satmar of you have to
have a to have. That's what Brookwood
said it. Okay [snorts]
you
I went yesterday to the
and I enjoyed myself a lot I had I
wanted to take a video I forgot to take
a video for him to why but I went to the
as a I had a give the to have. One day
I'll tell the why tremendous
ready to go I remembered hey when I was
in America I was in Chicago and
something good happened to me I got on a
plane went to the
didn't go to visit my family nothing got
on went to the but after cuz I didn't
want to make it a trip that I went the
got back into the car went back home to
America. So if I live in what should I
go to the I went I went with my wife.
It's a stickle better I'll tell you it's
when you you might get here so you have
a privilege. Some privilege I drove into
the
pulled up.
Yeah pulled the the gates they go can't
even get in.
No they see the license plate it opens
up it's Marches automatic you go in.
I have I have and then the the the the
two cops there
with this.
Cops at the this the
this the whole thing. We'll have more
than the cooling. All right.
So after mission
>> [clears throat]
>> I really I really I really Marches
This is a famous Marches this we have
over and over you should all be familiar
with this why?
Listen to this.
We all learn
this.
What
is made out of barley?
So you thought
So you thought and I am right.
That's because you learned the you know
there's only two
that are made out of
barley.
If a if a man
a man whose wife did not warn him not to
be with another
woman.
There's no such thing.
A site a site of a man is not a site.
If a man gets up there and says I want
to bring a out of barley
and it's not
it's not
so it can't be she screamed at him not
to be a site.
Do not be a site.
He's a
yeah.
How's it possible that a man says I want
to bring a barley car? There's only if
he's a woman and his and his husband
warned him not to be somebody I get it
but he's a man. A man cannot bring
barley. So what gets up there and says
I'm bringing a barley car.
So what do you do?
What do you do in such a case he said
I'm bringing a barley new.
What do you say Rabbi Rocky? What do you
do in this case?
Huh?
Who?
What about? No I didn't hear.
So you again?
No.
Okay Rabbi say
there's something called twice Russian
twice Russian
I could take you said it?
I give it to you bro.
It's a it's a
Marches.
A guy contradicts himself he says
something
so do I take his first
the first part of the sentence I really
I Marches period.
So you
bananas so you then
I don't
everybody knows you don't you don't make
a
Marches out of banana so that part I
ignore or perhaps no.
The guy was saying I really I Marches
all of a sudden realized wait a minute
Marches I have to drive now all the way
to the so
bananas so I'm going to erase what I
said by saying so you that's going to
erase the
so it's it's a Marches to be sure we
still do I go by the first do I go by
the beginning or I go by the
Marches okay you like that the video
okay good me too.
You might like me this
me this machine.
me this me this not me this me this.
me this unbelievable me this
unbelievable.
So you mission
I really I Marches
he messed up he contradicted himself I
want a mincha, I want it out of barley.
Every mincha in the world is made out of
wheat besides two that are not nogea
today. Yavi min achitim. We say he meant
to bring a mincha, so'irum I don't I
ignore. What if he says
kemach, I want to may bring it out of
flour. Again,
only a so'ita brings kemach. Everybody
else brings so'iles. Yavi so'iles. Bring
it like a mench. If he says b'lo shemen
u'v'lo levona, new those of us who
learned menachos, what mincha does not
have oil?
You know how the Israelis remember? They
said men the orebach.
Sh'lei choit taniskar. They all remember
that.
They remembered how? Why a guy that does
a sin, he should gain and he shouldn't
have to pay the $2 that the oil cost? So
that's how you remember. Choita does not
bring oil.
B'lo shemen u'v'lo levona, he he messed
up. The only people he's not a he's not
bringing a mincha because he's a choita.
He's not bringing a mincha because he's
a so'ita or a sho'ita. He's bringing a
mincha because he wants to bring a
mincha. So he messed up. Yavi shemen
u'v'lo levona, we ignore him. The second
part of his statement,
disregard. First part of the statement,
"Harei alai mincha." Bring a mincha like
a mench with levona, with so'iles. What
if he says chatzi so'irum?
He has it. We all know a mincha must be
at least one isar. He ignores it. Yavi
isar shalei, we ignore him and he brings
a full isar.
Isar u'mechtza, this is a good one. This
is one and a half. There's no such
thing.
I got it. Gevallik.
What What about isarna one and a half?
Yavi shnayim. There's no such thing as
one and a half. So bring two.
Reb Shimon poiter. Reb Shimon says every
case in this mishna, poiter. If a guy
says, "I want to bring a mincha made out
of barley," he doesn't have to bring
anything. Sh'lei snadev k'dei r'chamis
nadvim, because that's not how people
say it. So if he said it the wrong way,
that means he wanted to erase his
initial comment. Instead of just saying
no no no, he says so'irum. And so'irum
means nothing. The doctor barley, what
if he says he wants rice flour?
Something that was never brought before.
>> So the gemara is going to talk about it.
I threw in bananas, which is
[clears throat] wrong. The gemara is
going to talk exactly about what you
said.
Dafka barley, the difference between
barley and anything else is cuz barley
is something that
is brought. And if you don't do the daf,
certainly if you don't do the daf, you
ask a a general person in the street,
"What What is a mincha made out of
barley or wheat?" He most likely will
not know.
If you ask him, "Could I substitute
barley for wheat?" Or "Is there any
mincha that's made brought out of
barley?" He wouldn't know. How would a
guy know?
There's no way for him to know.
Am I neder pischoy im o hu?
Isn't he trying to
change,
rectify, whatever the loshon is? He in
the neder, he has an opening. It's
me'ein I say inyan. It just It's a
beautiful thing that I think about
constantly. It's a just the the moshol
of how within every
um
Uh what's the word I'm looking for? Um
within
every
ma'aseh that happens. That's not the
right word.
Within every area, okay, you'll you'll
you'll insert that word.
Every situation. Every situation that we
go through in life, you have the answer
within. But the what one of the most
beautiful mosholim, or not a moshol, a
ma'aseh sh'haya is Yosef Hatzadik. Yosef
Hatzadik dreams he's going to be a king.
A minute later, he turns into a slave.
How How's it pos- like from
Cuz Hashem is giving me hints that I'm
going to be a king and I'm going to be a
slave. But
a regular person says to himself, it's
simple, you know, something's wrong
here. I was lied to. I was This is not
fair. But within the actual story, the
only way he could be a king is with that
contradiction. By By him being a slave.
So anyways, within every everything in
our life, everything that we go through,
the answer lies right there. It's neder
pischoy imai. Uh on the one hand you
have a neder, but you have a pesach. You
have There's an understanding. There's a
way out of it from within it. Omer
Chizkiyahu, "Homani b'Shammai."
Oh.
So here's the machlokes Bais Hillel
u'Bais Shammai. Bais Hillel say, "Oh,
before I show you this, let me just show
you the characters. The characters, you
have so'iles and so'irum. So'iles is is
you know, the number one. Most of the
menachos are made out of of so'iles. And
who's the last man standing? Rishon and
and so'irum is
is loshon acharon. So when you see the
the so'iles,
Bais Hillel say
the the acharon stands. The the barley
is the one standing. Tofes loshon
acharon. And Bais Shammai say tofes
loshon rishon. You go by the first part
of the statement. Bais Hillel say you go
by the second part of the statement.
Says Chizkiyahu, "I go with Bais
Shammai."
Our mishna goes like Bais Shammai.
Again, a person says, "Harei alai
mincha." I want a mincha.
So he has to bring a mincha. The second
part of the statement, so'irum, I ignore
that. Disregard. So I'm tofes loshon
rishon. Chizkiyahu says this mishna goes
like Bais Shammai. Slightly problematic
cuz we go like Bais Hillel. How do we
fit this mishna into Bais Hillel?
Homani b'Shammai, the rishonim tofes
loshon rishon. D'snon "Harei nozer min
agurges." If a person says,
Here's Rabbi Tertzman again. Look at
this. He's standing there next to the
grapes.
What he says, "Oy oy oy." Check this
out.
A person looks and he says, "I want to
be a nozer." A nozer is somebody that
refrains from grape product. He doesn't
drink wine, grapes. And he looks at the
at the at the figs and he says, "I'm
going to be a nozer from figs." So
again, once again we have a pelgina
dibura. We have "Harei nozer." Period.
I'm going to refrain from grapes.
Uh figs? Disregard figs.
So that's the the classic machlokes.
It's not "Harei nozer min agurges u'min
hadveila." Dveila is, you know, you glue
the dveila something like this where
they press the figs together.
So his his words contradict each other.
Bais Shammai say, "Rishon nozer." Bais
Shammai say he's a complete nozer and we
disregard. So in other words, tofes
loshon rishon. Let's grab the first
words, disregard the second. Bais Hillel
say, "Rishon nozer." You go by the
second words. He he meant refraining
from figs and that doesn't exist.
So
that's Chizkiyahu. Chizkiyahu says I go
with Bais Shammai, everything's great.
Says Rabbi Yochanan, "I prefer to go
with Bais Hillel." And in fact, the
gemara is going to say that that
Chizkiyahu also goes with Bais Hillel at
the end.
Rabbi Yochanan amar, "Afilu teima Bais
Hillel, we could go with Bais Hillel."
But Omer, "Ilu eisi u'dei ashei nodrim
kach, eisi nodrim kach u'kach." Says
Rabbi Yochanan, "I go even though Bais
Hillel says typically tofes loshon
acharon. And he said barley and there's
no such thing barley. But he explains
himself. If a person explains himself
right away, he says, 'Listen, I didn't
do the daf. I don't know anything about
mincha. I tried to be smart guy. That's
what I have at home. I said, 'Let me
bring a mincha out of barley.' If I
would have known there's no such thing,
I wouldn't have said I would have said
wheat. Okay, so bring a mincha out of
wheat." I'm explaining what you're
doing. Omer Chizkiyahu,
"Lo shonu ela d'oma mincha min adashim."
So'irum is something that exists in the
Bais Hamikdash by a so'ita, by omer. So
okay, so he messed up a little bit. Aval
omer, "Mincha min adashim." If a person
says that I want to bring a mincha from
lentils, that's what Rabbi Aryeh Schuman
was asking. Lo he's completely poiter.
Asks the gemara, "What's going on here?"
L'choira, if you say tofes loshon
rishon, so the guy says, "I want to
bring a mincha." Period.
End of the story. Bring a mincha. The
fact that he added on
a watermelon or lentils, ignore. Michti
Chizkiyahu amar amar Rabbi Schuman
d'Chizkiyahu ozel like Bais Shammai.
U'Bais Shammai mishum tofes loshon
rishon. And they go You just use the
first words. Mali min aso'irum, mali min
adashim. So what difference does it make
if he said so'irum or adashim? Says the
gemara, "Hadar bei."
He [clears throat] actually holds
Oh, I forgot to put this in here. If you
go mincha min adashim,
poiter. Why? Because you're going by the
adashim. And that's why he's poiter. So
in other words, I hold tofes loshon
acharon. How can you hold tofes loshon
acharon when you hold tofes loshon
rishon?
Rabbi Yochanan on the other hand says,
it's problematic also. He says that if a
person says mincha min adashim, you you
you have to bring a a mincha. That means
that I I I stop. I go mincha. Period. So
that means I go by loshon rishon. But he
holds like Bais Hillel that says loshon
acharon. But that's not the gemara's
kasha. So
hadar bei.
The real question is why hadar bei? Why
did he take it back? Maybe there's a
difference between adashim and so'irum.
And that's what the gemara is going to
ask. By adashim, there's no mistake. By
By so'irum, you can make a mistake cuz
that's in the Bais Hamikdash. But nobody
every every even even a guy that never
learned menachos in his life knows that
you cannot bring a mincha out of
lentils. Ask anybody. Go to shul
tonight. You can ask them, "Is a mincha
made out of barley or wheat?" Nobody
will know. But if you ask him, "Is a
mincha made out of lentils or wheat?"
They'll tell you no no no. Not Not Not
lentils. Not for sure not.
Yeah.
That's uh 2026. Not then. Hadar bei.
Says the gemara, "My time hadar bei."
What's the real reason? Omer Rabbi
Mesarsya shetei. He had a He had a
problem with the mishna, Chizkiyahu.
If it's true that like that the mishna
goes like Bais Shammai, they go with the
first words and we don't go with the
second words. "Mayir d'tani mincha min
aso'irum l'sanei min adashim?"
Tell me what speak you chidush. When a
person if you go with loshon rishon, a
person says mincha, so even if he adds
on some something silly like like
lentils, we still go with it. "L'shmani
no mishum d'to'i." The whole point of
the mishna is that we go it's a mistake.
"B'so'irum to'i." You can make a honest
mistake between uh a flour from wheat
versus flour from barley because in the
base of migdal you have barley also
sometimes.
But I don't like that. Here, coming up
we have the omer coming up. It's made
out of barley. But I don't like that.
But nobody's going to make that mistake.
If a person says, like you see in the
right bottom corner, if a person says I
don't like that, you have to bring it.
Why? Because he holds that the whole
mishna is going to be silly.
And the whole point of being silly is
why even though they typically hold that
you go by the last words. And the last
words were omer, and that's a no-gooder.
But the reason why we go with the with
the lashon rishon here is because he
made a mistake. He explained himself. He
said, "Had I known, I wouldn't have said
omer."
But I don't like that. I don't like
that. In fact,
but in in I don't like that he doesn't
make a mistake.
So,
you should go with lashon acharon
according to the mishna.
He goes like this. But he's telling I
don't understand you. Why did you come
to my team? Why did you reverse your
shita? You went from saying that the
mishna goes according to the mishna goes
according to
that I have a problem with. Why?
Stay on your team.
You hold so far as you prove it from the
mishna that the mishna used the word
omer instead of I don't like that.
Maybe that's not such a great question.
Maybe the
mishna was saying
I don't like that
and that certainly is no question in I
don't like that.
Because a person
took it back and he's he's going with
the first language. I don't like that.
The reason the mishna uses the lashon of
omer is because maybe in I don't like
that and omer a person can make a
mistake.
I feel
still go with the first lashon.

Let me give out the video.
What's his first name? Itzy?
Itzik Lebovich is a is a Satmar chossid.
And he lately has been going around
making um
short clips to get people to do the daf.
He'll stop people on the street. I think
I showed a video to his he he he drives
a minivan for parnassah.
He's fluent in English.
And uh
he he learns the daf four times a day.
Four times a day.
He knows how to learn. He's a good
learner.
But he has it in his bones that he wants
to get another person. He says it
changed his life.
Last year was unbelievable and he wants
to get more people to learn Torah. So he
went ahead and made this video. And I
saw this clip this morning.
After I saw the clip, I was walking to
shiur today and I said, "Wow,
it's a good clip. Imagine if more people
made clips like that."
So, I want to make an incentive. I want
people to send in their clips.
Send a clip, but also post it to your
status.
Any clip that you post to your status
will be included. Benny, I'm making you
in charge of this. I'm going to forget.

$500. It's not going to be No, it's
going to be Benny is going to decide the
winner.
The
the people on this table are going to
decide who's number one, two, three.
We're going to show all the clips as
they come in.
And huh?
Who?
Medidas.
The medidas are going to decide when you
see medidas here.
Okay. So that's we're starting today.
Um here's the first one. First entry.
This guy is a big contender in the
century. Check out this entry. I don't
like that.
Oh, this is Hebrew. Sorry.
The real guys.
These guys really do it.
880 days is the mishna.
All right.
It's valid. That's entry number one.
I don't know if he he he he can't drop
below 500 this guy. How you going to do
it? There's going to be more than two
that Try to do it. Let's go. Let's go.
Let's bring those guys Bring your
statuses in. Bring them in. Yossi, you
got a status for us? Coming?
Good.
Right now, middle of shiur. He's not
wasting any time. Good. Valid.
Okay.
When a guy says this this whole thing
that twice lashon rishon I don't like
that you got the first words in the
sentence is because he said I don't like
that I like I don't like that. The omer
he says I don't like that I
I want to bring an omer. But I don't
like that omer
But if he didn't say I don't like that
omer, what did he say? Says Rashi,
listen, this is a little tricky. You got
to write it in with your pencil. He
said, "I don't like that omer."
It's a big difference. If a person says
I don't like that omer, omer, so I could
split his words. Anybody who speaks
Hebrew knows. I don't like that omer,
period. Omer is another sentence. When a
person says I don't like that omer,
omer, the omer goes together with the
word omer. You cannot split those two
words. They're together. Omer omer. It's
an omer of Omer means omer of
omer.
I can't break his words.
And therefore you don't say
he would be partner.
Cuz he said specifically you can't make
two sentences out of one sentence. If
you can't make two sentences out of what
he what he said, so what he said is a
contradiction and
and therefore he's partner. You call my
law I don't like that. So I don't like
that it's over. It's
I don't like that. I don't like that.
What about in the mishna it says I don't
like that. The mishna doesn't say what
he said. It doesn't say in the mishna I
don't like that I like I don't like
that.
I don't like that I don't like that.
My love I don't like that. He didn't say
I don't like that I don't like that. He
probably said looks like in the mishna
he said I don't like that I don't like
that.
I don't like that.
I don't like that sorry. I don't like
that he said.
Now,
a person Rashi explains a person doesn't
say anything I don't like that. Person
doesn't just stand and say things.
So may law
when he says I don't like that I don't
like that
that he's being
then then then he's being serious.
I don't like that I don't like that. My
love I don't like that.
Even without saying I don't like that
he's valid.
I don't like that No, you have to say
he said no, only in a case where he said
I don't like that I don't like that like
Ziri says.
Now, the so
free me
I don't like that
I don't like that. I don't like that I
don't like that. He said I don't like
that. I don't like that
I don't like that I don't like that. I
don't like that I don't like that. But
the mishna is setting up this question.
I don't like that. What about the end of
the mishna? Says he
I don't like that.
If a person said one and a half he has
to bring two. Even though I don't like
that.
So ask the Gemara,
once a person says the word omer,
according to you, Ziri, he says omer?
If I don't like that omer, then you say
twice lashon rishon. When a person says
omer, then
the what the first thing that he said is
good. I don't like that omer.
Why is he valid two?
He didn't say anything on the second
part is nothing. His twice lashon rishon
goes on a full omer. The second part of
half is nothing. If you want we can see
Rashi real quickly.
I don't like that
I don't like that. If he didn't say the
word omer, he has to bring two. But
because he explains himself away if I
would have known. I don't like that I
don't like that. But if he says But if
he says the word omer and he says the
word I don't like that, so the word omer
goes on the and I don't like that is
nothing. I might maybe trade. Why should
he bring two?
You Ziri say you have to say the word
mincha. So now he did say mincha.
But only on one of the two words. So it
has to be related to him.
If you say if you don't say the word
mincha, this is gives a better here. If
you don't say the word mincha, you don't
have to bring it all.
So over here he said mincha
So
the mincha is going to go on the part.
And on the
he never said mincha on it. So he
shouldn't bring it all. So he said
you're right.
The
he didn't say one and a half, he said a
half and one.
And the word
Time out. So look what I look at what
the does here. A little different than
what you think. Let's
say half
Yeah, we're changing it around a little
bit.
The key to the mincha So the word mincha
right there and then means a full
mincha. If a guy says I really
how much does he have to bring? One
without explaining how many there is.
If
you
when he says I want to bring a half, the
on the half part we're going to
disregard completely.
And then
here's what's going on here.
He says mincha, that's one.
He says that's zero.
And then he says that's another one. One
plus one equals two, that's why he says
bring two.
But if he really says
mincha in this
You tell me that a person doesn't say at
all.
A person he said over here mincha.
So why does he say he doesn't have to
bring anything? He said I really he
should at least have to bring he should
have to bring some.
Am I am I
There's another slightly different We
have twice as
We have twice as
and we have a we have a called He's busy
he's busy making a status. Look at him
with his phone over there selling.
We [snorts] have And then we have we
have a that combines the two and says
listen, if there's a
Mish
If there's a here, then we have to
disregard everything. We have to we have
to we have to
So I'm almost losing my words. We have
to
No, not that. We have to consider every
statement that he says. So we're going
to consider the first statement and the
second statement. But they contradict
each other. So
so nothing. That's why he doesn't bring
anything according to him.
Okay.
The Mishnah.
And here we're going to come to one of
the
a classic
I
can't wait.
We
had this already. It's for us.
A person brings a giant clea
of 60 is
A typical one is
maximum is 60.
That's the maximum
that can go in one vessel. And I
realized she should But what if he goes
over the limit?
It seems from the Mishnah that you bring
one clea that has 60 and one clea that
has one. Don't try to break it down.
30 and 31
just
Don't break it 30 and 31, just 60 and
one.
Okay?
Or maybe sorry.
Okay, let's see what maybe beyond the
reason on Sukkot.
That's the most you could ever bring.
She should
Here, let me show you beautiful thing
that did here.
Every every sheep you bring one You see
they're holding one in their hands.
And the the aisle is two per aisle.
Cows are three. 13 * 3 is how much?
39.
18 * 1 is how many?
Very good.
>> [snorts]
>> 2 * 2
is four. So
4 + 18 is how much? 22 and 22 + 39
is 61. Even if you don't know math you
can cheat and look at the top. It says
61. 61 is on.
So that's the max, 61 is on.
So he says So if the brings This is
interesting. No one's going to love this
one. If the brings 61,
you know what? Take one off the the the
community of an individual. An
individual can bring up to 60. I'm It
doesn't make any sense what you're
saying. By the way,
these 39 that you bring with the cows
with the bulls, they
18 of the sheep, they
they never go into the same ball. How
did you just make a mincha that has 60
in one ball when
the bulls and the the sheep never go in
one ball? It's forbidden to mix it.
That's why it's to mix. That's exactly
why it's You can't mix different
different times of
The point is physically speaking, you
cannot mix more than 60.
makes no sense what you're saying.
60 you could, but 61 not?
Call
me
with a tough at end. Call me
What are you talking about? Everything
in in in is like that. But so it says
you need 40 to be
or
but
40 minus one little drop
the smallest amount, you cannot do it.
That's the question. The
maybe So this
How do you know if a person says 61?
Maybe
bring 61
The famous If anybody wants to remember
this one.
The
famous story of
him
coming up
like
him
coming If you want to remember where
that story
is, everybody knows that
like
him. So it says over there that that's
why they started calling him
the
That's the whole story that started the
whole fight. The Romans wanted to
because he
he stuck up for the Romans.
The The says from this

power over them
that they could decide that so and so

on him he said
This whole thing that we just said that
you can bring 60.
So in you should bring 61
you bring 60. All right,
this you mix in the morning this you mix
in the evening. They don't
go together.
And
so so what what the shot?
Bring something that you can mix. What?
60 you can mix, 61 you can't. Here this
