Men spend so much of their lives being asked what they can do for everyone else. But almost nobody asks them one simple question: “What do you need?” Adam Klasner (@findinganochi) breaks down why that question can be so powerful for men — and why so many men have a hard time even answering it. One thing that you kept on asking
people, what do you need? The the
question, what do you need is so
powerful is such a deep question because
no men don't get asked what we need.
We're usually the providers.
And so what's behind that? The what do
you need?
>> Well, we've divorced ourselves from our
needs. We really have. But as I
mentioned, you know, a child growing up
needs stuff. Like there are survival
things that I need. It's just how it's
who I am. It's like if I don't if I'm
not attached to my caregivers,
>> I will die.
>> Right. You can't take a baby that's even
even a 2-year-old, three-year-old, a
four-year-old, and put them in the
forest and say, "Hey, you're you're go
survive." Like, it just doesn't work.
>> Mhm.
>> So, growing up, we have needs. Now, what
happens if we don't get those needs? So,
I have I have the need to for someone to
take care of me and to provide for me
and to love me and to tell me that I'm
good and to understand me and to listen
to me and to see me. But what happens
when you don't get those things? So, if
I don't get those things, the only way
to survive is I need to create
substitutes for those things.
>> And that's why today people are addicted
to their phones. They're addicted to
substances. They're addicted to external
validation. Pornography.
>> Pornography for sure.
