[Music] hello megan david yeshiva we're getting ready for another awesome school year we're here coming to you today to discuss a very important topic the cell phone and social media policy mag and david as a yeshiva listen to the parent body who came to us and said we need standards help us help our children in order to guide them to a bright future we've seen a lot of young people come to us with mental health issues and without a doubt you can trace them back to social media i've seen a lot of young people as early as fifth or sixth or seventh grade get on to these illegal and legal gambling sites and oftentimes they'll start gambling and this has proven to be a big big issue in our community we're noticing that the misuse of technology is causing an increase in bullying situations we've had issues that turned into very serious problems the effects have been devastating a lot of children feel ostracized feel left out kids are getting online through their phones any hour any day this is the covert of the soul sos save our souls and therefore we need to be proactive when it comes to making sure that the access that our children have to the internet is proper the foundation behind the new policy is that we believe as a community that it's not okay simply to give a device to a child that has no management no supervision and no filtration whatsoever and therefore the policy in simple terms is we're requiring parents to apply parental controls to the devices used by their children parents will be required to set up family sharing to oversee and supervise how much time is being spent on those devices which apps are being purchased which apps are being used as a reminder smart watches are not permitted in school at any time for any student students in grades one to five are not permitted to bring phones to school students in grades six to eight may bring phones to school but they are collected at arrival this is a policy that we saw a tremendous increase in the amount of focus in class last year [Music] recognize that this policy ultimately is for you this policy is for your children to help them to increase the capacity of learning our yeshiva should be very proud we're doing a responsible job to protect our children's souls it is our hope and prayer that together as a partnership we will ultimately see a tremendous amount of success this coming school year and for many years in the future [Music]
