Mayor Menashe Miller ahead of Impending Storm

good morning Lakewood it hasn't yet been 24 hours since I've been sworn into the seat of Mayor I'm already expecting some inclement weather here in Lakewood this inclement weather will be coming in the form of some significant snowfall I've been in constant contact with deputy mayor arriman who to his credit had a foresight last month and put together a committee to sit down and discuss snowplowing and to better enhance the cleanup process here in Lakewood a meeting was held in the mayor's office last month under the leadership of dep Deputy Mayor arrian together with committee mayor lonstein and they had at that meeting the department heads from the various departments that are involved such as Chief flon from the police department Alber Toni from Department of Public Works Etc and various others all to get together to enhance the cleanup process I've um received a phone call from uh committeeman Ray Kohl's who has updated me he is the liaison Department of Public Works he has upd he has updated me with the ongoings of what's going on right now with the preparations for the snowstorm Public Works vehicles trucks are right now salting sanding and putting out calcium chloride the purpose of the calcium chloride and the salt is to better facilitate the cleanup process by melting the ice melting some of the snow as it falls tonight we're expecting some dangerously low temperatures and for that reason try to stay off the road drive safely the roads will be slippery if you have pets again it's going to be dangerously cold temperatures if you have pets take them inside I doo have a pet I'll be putting my pet away for the cold season what has to happen is we need everyone's cooperations one of the things that I've seen in Lakewood which is a beautiful thing it's heartwarming to see that during these times whether it was Hurricane Sandy or any other type of major blackout or catastrophe people get together and In This Storm it should be no different if you have an elderly neighbor help shovel their steps help shovel their driveway get together be there for your neighbor try to help out I want to give a thank you to Department of Public Works and condolences to Tony Ari who recently lost his father our condolences to you Tony you you your family uh we have you in our hearts and prayers again I'd like to remind everyone to please park your cars in the driveway and try to take as many things off the roadway such as your garbage pales or whatnot to enable the plows to be able to get as close to the curb as possible if you see areas that have signs that say do not park when when road is snow covered those are the snow routes please try to pull your cars into driveways parking lots or any other place where it will not impede the cleanup process last but not least again be there for your neighbor be there for your friends be there for the residents I hope to be here for you as well we will not be going as sleep during the storm from the beginning till we till we find that every road is clean and clear
