Martin Luther King was aware of the special relationship they shared by African-Americans and Jews. He knew both our peoples were used and abused, oppressed so hard we could hardly stand, involuntarily forced from our land, and we were both shaped by the unsavory tragic experience of slavery. We've both been victims of segregation, forced to live in some ghetto locations, both been targets of legislation passed only for discrimination. We've both been forced to watch our back simply because we were Jewish or black, and we've both seen oppression and genocide on levels unprecedented worldwide. So, Martin Luther King never failed to stand up for Jews and support Israel. He said criticism of Zionism is a new disguise for anti-Semitism, and solemnly pledged he would help maintain and uphold the Jewish people's good name cuz he truly believed that bigotry in any form is a travesty.
