remember when to hit record. What?
Remember when to hit record? I did that
one. Right. Here we go. In five minutes.
Okay. So, we're continuing the B in the
Kutamaran. In the beginning of the
Kimaran, we got up to ice. But to give a
little recap obviously to get into the
swing of things
that the Reb spoke about the of Mashiach
Mashiach. He was speaking about
Mashiach, how Mashiach is going to
come through main weapon of Msiah is but
he connected that through
toem also through the breath the sense
of smell and the uh the the
breathing. I just wanted to say a few
things about that. I kind of glossed
over that but very interesting. I mean
nowadays people are very into uh what do
they call it? Breath work. Breath work.
very into breath work. So there's a yid
that that's m in the forest of
Abdu an older yid that's I don't know I
think he's like I'm not exactly sure
what he is but he's like a yet he walks
around with his white beard and his
towel over his so over his hand he's all
over and he comes and he gives to people
wherever they are in forest or wherever
you'll see him walking the streets of
very special with the phone on the hand
no phone and
Um so he once told me a vart he's giving
me in the forest he told me a vart from
I believe it's the zilla rebba almost
everything he says is from the villa or
the moonba so it's one of those two
that he said to someone they asked him
how do you have such such uh
suchesh so I think it's he answered them
it's not a big deal you could also have
it really okay I want it sign me up
where do I sign up he said all you have
to do
is for five years straight. Every breath
you take, thank Hashem and you'll get it
naturally. It won't you won't have to
work for
it. So, so he told that to me once. So,
for years I just had that little nugget
of information in my mind. I'm sure he
connected it to some beautiful onion. He
he has a way of doing that. But it was
just an interesting thing. And then
years later I was thinking about this
how we
say and
says with every breath you take you
should praise. So there's a certain
aspect of what that means that every
time you breathe should be praising
helping out doing a mitzvah. There's so
much that you could do with your breath
with your words every single breath to
try to do something good with that that
breath. Then I realized something deeper
and that might explain a lot of things
is that every breath that we take that
we're taking it for good. We're using it
to speak words of encouragement to speak
words of and all the things like that.
So at a certain point the breath is
going out out and it's doing so much. At
a certain point it stops. We get to the
point where we can't talk
anymore. Every single person every
couple of seconds get to that gets to
that point where I can't go on anymore.
It's a it's a a place of internal
physical ble that every single person
goes through a thousand times a day
where we come to the place where our
exhalation is finished and we need to
inhale to live and we do
it. The inhalation though is basically a
place of saying I can't live anymore. I
can't exist. I I'm finished. Even though
I'm a big and I'm I'm saying words of
I'm ripping through tom and I'm giving
speeches and everything. I can't live
anymore. I need to now take a deep
breath and the and in a in a inhalation
in a breath. What could you do with
that? Nothing. Unless you're like Kenny
G who figured out a way of exhaling and
inhaling at the exact same time to break
the world record for blowing a saxophone
35 minutes or something. But other than
that, kiput when you're exhale when
you're inhaling you have you have no way
of doing anything. You're silent. that
silence that BL is such a tremendous
place where we all have that we all
naturally experience that and maybe
that's why already half of the of the
statement from from the zba is every
single time that we get to that place
and we inhale we're praising silently
we're saying hashem I can't live anymore
I need you hashem I need you so that's a
little bit of understanding that
obviously if we use when we use the
exhalation to speak words of of kaduca
That's the of the of the um but the
rabbi said over there with theem the
breathing is to to praise and to to dav
into him and he said afterwards that in
order to get to the in order to get to
this place of dvening it's like a weapon
so we have to be able to have sabris he
spoke about and he said that it's really
a coak of wielding building the sword of
tila. Tila is a sword. It's a powerful
weapon. But we have to be able to know
how to handle this weapon as every
weapon needs to be able to have
instruction how to use it. Sometimes you
can lean too much to the right or too
much to the left. And we have to be able
to judiciously balance this uh amazing
weapon called file. He says because the
weapon of file is a two-edged sword.
It's it's um praise and prayer so to
speak. It's praising and just asking him
for what you need. So in order to
understand that a little bit how we have
this um this this balance of of praise
and and prayer of of davening. So you
know when you hear this originally so
sometimes you think that okay so we have
another requirement in our long list of
of
in Yiddish you know the greatest thing
in Yiddish is to be ded and par. So you
could eat whatever you want and you can
do whatever you want for a couple hours
until your next. So we have another oh
okay we have to d a lot because that's
going to bring mashia but the only way
to d is we have to be able to balance
our our our thanking hashem and are
asking another but there's you know like
the famously said that the whole world
is a it's a very thin bridge and the
main thing is not to be afraid. So it
once struck me a few months ago in the
in the winter time. Um I was actually
walking home from a from a sham zer by
myself in the winter here in Muny and it
was quiet. It was it was uh you know
very silent. The the amazing thing about
Muny now on Shabas there's basically no
cars. When I grew up in Muny it was not
like that but uh then during Greek there
was no cars also but the the the um I
was thinking about it. I was I just
happened to have been having fun with
myself cuz I was by myself. It was like
10° so I'm just trying to like keep sane
in the freezing cold. So in order to
keep sane and fun I was going on the
curb and I was walking on college road
just walking on the curb balancing
myself and it was fun. It was keeping me
busy. But I started to think I'm on a
gesture right now and you know what I'm
not afraid. And it struck me says this.
He says that you should not be afraid.
one the last thing and the probably
worst thing that you could tell a person
that's fearful don't be afraid just stop
being afraid stop he's like anxiously
starts having a hyperventilation you
know like what is telling us the world
is a crazy scary place but don't be
afraid you know like like the mitzvah
stick you know you better be happy boom
be happy boom you know like what are you
telling me obviously there's much more
depth is saying that yeah the whole
world is a very thin bridge he was
saying something different. It's It was
brought down once in uh I think in Mile
Beerman. I might be mixing it up from
some other source, but they said that
there was a very very realistic VR
headset that was in a mall somewhere and
you put on this VR headset and you were
mammish in it, you know, like they have
nowadays. And what you had to do is you
had to walk up on this 6 in little thing
stick. You have to walk across this uh
you know 25 feet on this six inch thing
the six inch beam and people put on the
headset and on the headset with wind and
everything you know the fans like the
whole nine yards you were in on the top
of you know the twin towers you know you
were like 2,000 ft in the air with crazy
heights you know threatening you on both
sides. So he uh they said that
invariably the people that were wearing
this headset and going across would fall
off. They would be like ah fall off. Ah
fall off. They're on a tight rope.
They're not tight rope walkers. They
don't know how to do this a and they
would fall off and then they would take
off the headset and they would look down
and everyone would be like laughing like
you just fell off of three inches high
six inches thick uh beam like not almost
anyone could do that. You know it's six
inches. You just walk foot in front of
foot. It's not the end of the world.
Most people can do it. But it was the
fear that got them. And the fear was
that they're thousand feet in the air.
And the reality was that they're 2
inches in the air. And so when says that
the whole world is a very thin bridge
and he says that you should not be
afraid, he's saying not that you should
not be afraid because you know just
don't be afraid. He's saying that it's
just not reality. Obviously there's a
bridge. Obviously, we have to walk on a
path now between between file that's
praising and fel that's that's asking
but it's not like there or for it. If
you fall this way and that way, you're
going to be caught. You're going to be
all right. Everything's going to be all
right. You're right here. Hashem is
right with you. And every single place
that you fall this side or that side,
you're going to be okay. You're going to
be totally fine. So in terms of of of
being able to internalize this thing of
this
balance. So the Reb says that you're
able to attain this balance of praising
and asking him which is a really what
we're saying now is not a external thing
like just do it and it's another but
rather it's something internal that when
you what it is and when you attain it so
then it's the most beautiful connection
and love with you realize that this is
the relationship and now I am part of
this relationship and I'm connected to
Hashem. So the to do this the Reb says
is through a mishb through judgment and
he specifically speaks about this with
and like we said that is the ultimate
judge and Hashem decides who's going to
be rich and who's going to be poor and
so he shells out so to speak his
decision who's rich who's poor and
Hashem is the judge like
him but if you yourself take your money
from your pocket and decide that this
poor guy who does not have money he's
going to have money, I'm going to make
him rich. You just exercised the
judgment of also and you just decided
not only that that you yourself who had
some money is now going to be poor. So
you're imitating way of judgment and
you're now basically becoming like the
judge of in a very altruistic good way
of giving. Not obviously I'm taking
which would be a perversion of this
whole judgment basically saying that the
only thing there is is in the world is
me. I'm going to take everyone's money
to myself. Rather you're say recognizing
now that you're not the only thing in
the world. others and you're judging in
a very realistic real real way by giving
it. So he says that that's why we give
before ding when we're coming to we the
setup of our and the whole setup of is
usually praising and begging him and
praising him more to um and that way
brings down. So what happens is when you
do when you give you're actually doing
that it once struck me I was it was
actually a fast day was a bunch of years
ago was
It was interesting. It wasn't a real
fast day. I was in like a yeshiva. I was
in Zilberman's program in the old city
and they were making a fast day for I
think it was the expulsion of Gushkatif
at that point and the government was
continuously threatening they were going
to do it. They did it. Um but the were
up in arms and trying to be and they
said we should all fast this particular
day. So I said, you know, I'm not like a
big faster um but I'm going to try to do
it. That was my tinest. So I was trying
to do it and I made it to and I made it
a little bit further. I remember being
in the old city there and I was just
fainting. It was the summer and I was
very hot, very over, you know,
dehydrated. So I went and I got myself
finally a a snapple and I sat down in
one of the cafes there in the in the old
city and I was just going to break my
fast and I was just like so so weak. I
was like, "Okay, please, you know,
accept this partial
fast maybe, you know, after all the they
say always come
back. Now the Gaza is coming back into
our handsm in good ways but it should be
in good ways. Everyone should be
protected and safe. But the um the point
is that when I was drinking that drink
it struck me that Gamarra speaks
about that the um the value of a tinus
is
sudaka. What does it mean that the value
of tinus sudaka is that it's very nice
that you're you know withholding food
and drink from your from your body but
the the great greater thing is if you
would give of yourself to give of your
money to another person but it struck me
that
another is that the value the gain that
you gain yourself from a tinus is to
recognize that everything that you have
is like I was drinking that drink and I
was thinking here I have I have no
energy I can't move I can't walk I can't
think I'm I'm just I'm done. Like I have
nothing. I was drinking the drink and
feeling it like revive me. And I was
like all the food and drink that I have
all the time. I never appreciate it. I
just I got to eat. I'm hungry. Go eating
drinking. But it's it's it's what's
giving me life. It's what's allowing me
now to think. It was allowing me now to
move and to go and to do all the things
that I'm doing. It's such a it's such a
duck. It's such a charity that gives me
at all times. So that's the basically
the recognition like we spoke before
about the the to uh to receive from to
recognize that in our in our palms that
we're not just giving from our palms but
we're also receiving from our palms. Our
palms are receiving when they're when
they're able to recognize that
everything we have is just a gift from
and that is the side of so to speak
where we are recognizing that there is
nothing else other than we start off
with praising Hashem and saying hashem I
don't have existence everything I have
is just you is just from you and then
when we come to the next level when we
start to give and we start to do things
in the world and we start to see that
hey this guy really needs money this guy
looks like he's starving. This guy is
going through a mat. So we start to do
things in the world. So we start to act
be active in the real world. That's the
other side of the sword of where it's
basically that we're also asking and
begging and the balance of those two um
is a very deep with you know this week
we were learning in the
the rabbi why sometimes and the alterba
said that there are many people that
they they they dive in very powerful
dings whatever it
They get to
like there's nothing else that exists.
They're
totally and they get out of they get out
of they're full of anger, resentment and
getting into fight like what happened
there like was was that not real? No, he
says it was real. It was totally real.
It was not like that faking it, you
know, like now they're getting angry.
No, they were real. They were totally
there. He says that the danger of being
there if you just remain there and this
is what is speaking about a little bit.
balance of being able to be in this
place of praising the then getting back
right out of it and grounding yourself
and the way says the the danger is that
when you get there you can't be there
forever like says
invim there you're going to have to come
back and the way to transition back from
that place of incredible bet is by he he
says learning tyra when you finish your
d finish your spiritual high and your
bet you sit and
learn you learn it grounds you it brings
you back into the physicality of the
world but with and then ah that infinite
light that you just received is grounded
in the finite world that is still
pulsating with and you're able to bring
that out into the world in a balanced
healthy way which hopefully won't come
out in anger anymore so I've been
speaking about this very
much this side of the paper the most
beautiful side right now the blank side
ah so we're going to go v because
apparently There's nothing more to say.
So, we're going to go invite over here
in in ice. So, the Reb brought down over
there that you have to have that um
mishb and the way to do that is now
going to
continue. Now, all of a sudden, there's
this new topic brought up of foreign
thoughts. What
are anyone that's dishar you know what
are you're sitting there and you uh you
don't know all of a sudden you're
thinking about every business deal every
single thing in your house that you
didn't do and everything that you should
have done wow it's like whoa like the
best most insightful things of the world
come the second that you start from
the
soazar's foreign thoughts and it's
coming he says through
kilkish through a a messed up sense of
judgment.
Keybid you're going to bring some rise.
We're not going to get too deep into the
um mishb is an aspect of the eyes or as
he's going to play on
words over there is really a um like a a
well maybe but the the idea is that the
eye and
the through messing up judgment. It's a
mess up in the eyes.
bribery, money, it blinds the eyes of
even the wise people. Something about
money, something about, you know,
invested interest in something. When you
have a ulterior motive, it just you
don't see things. You can't see things
properly. You're you're
blinded. These are clouds. This is from
I think Alash maybe that we're going to
see like the Z speaks about it that
there are clouds that descend upon the
eyes. cover the
eyes over there.
It's like covering himself in a cloud so
that the the should not come through.
And this is a big kilk in ding.
Obviously, we want in our file to speak
to Hashem. You want to be present.
There's a there's a guy once in I
remember this is like when we were like
19. I'm not even sure if I was learning
at that point. Maybe I was a little bit,
but there was a guy there that was just
hanging out in the basement all day.
like you know he was just one of these
guys that's going to be the people that
just spend time in the basement mad. Now
obviously the Mishna and says that it's
better you know just go keep going to
the base mad no matter what. But I
remember looking at him and it was like
so many months that he would just hang
out in the base and just smoo and hang
out and disturb people and go. I looked
at him I said like like do you really
want to do this for the next 80 years of
your life? Like is this the way you want
to do it? guys like like if you're here
anyways in the base just open a safer
and try to see if there's something that
can inspire you so that you'll enjoy
learning to for the rest of your life
instead of just sitting and cruising or
open a sitter and learn the sitter and
see if there's something that you can
get out of diving instead of like
spacing out and mumbling and making
believe like you're speaking and and
then and going vit it's going to be a
torturous life. So the idea over here is
that that um that these these thoughts
are damaging our we all want to enjoy.
We all want to enjoy a good
conversation. We want to connect to but
these um these clouds are just clouding
our judgment. They're not letting us um
connect. So he says that there's all
from a hamish. He says over here that
the fixing of
that
But and the future world is that when
all this mishb is connect is uh is is
fixed is
rectified then the clouds that are
covering over our eyes all these foreign
thoughts are going to go are going to
pass they're playing the words of and
when with able to see
properly and also of above the eye that
we're going to be able to have
proper eyesight in our so it's very
interesting over here that the the Reb
is bringing up this of now is there's a
famous that says that wherever you
have that's where there's you could
uplift so what does that mean like most
people have no idea what does it mean I
don't know like I'm not a makobo I don't
know what kadusha even look and I don't
know how to lift them up and why would
they be in my So one of the ideas I
think could be is that what areas if we
take we look at them we don't just
either be unconscious with them we don't
just say like oh what are they I don't
know like I'm just thinking but at a
certain point you know you realize that
oh I'm not thinking about I'm thinking
about random stuff so we could take it
at that point we could
say I'm terrible I'm terri terrible. I'm
terrible and go rest with feeling
remorse and feeling bad and then have
about feeling bad and how you feel bad.
Go down that whole line until you say or
you can stop for a couple of seconds and
say, "Well, what was I thinking about?"
And then you could start looking at them
and say, "Well, why was I thinking about
them?" And then you could start saying,
"Oh, because I'm actually nervous about
this bill that I didn't pay and it's
been two weeks and everyone's like kind
of asking me and you know and I don't
really know how I'm going to pay it."
Ah, that's what I'm worried about. Okay,
you could either just hold it, give it
space and say, "Okay, that's what I'm
worried about." Or you could try to
think of an ita. This is a real thing.
Taka, how am I going to deal with it?
Maybe if I ask this and this guy and
this dude and this and this, maybe I'll
be able to be able to deal with it
better. Okay, great. You put it, you
figured it out. That's called I think
what the is saying is lifting up meaning
all these they're not in a vacuum.
They're not coming from like it sounds
like Zurus like like some sort of random
foreign thing you know like some guy you
know you read you know but if you scroll
through social media they're like
throwing at you every you know crazy
thought in the video and everything in
the whole world. It's like where is it
coming from? It's coming from someplace.
I mean, even in social media, they have
an algorithm that knows exactly who you
are, exactly your weaknesses, and
they're also leading into those, you
know, playing into those things. Amen.
So, the the the idea is that we're able
to uplift these sparks when and if we
look at the at the uh at the thing.
That's also a level of mishb meaning
you're taking these
these these clouds that are covering
over your eyes and through mishb you're
actually able to destroy them and and to
uh be able to uplift them and come close
to even with them um which is lifting up
their their
sparks
says now this is another like kind of
almost random shift in gears the says
that you have to try to focus yourself
and
feel to connect yourself to bind
yourself to in the
generation every single is an element
of very interestingly in the I think
that's a bunch of places
in like it says in mo that they would uh
Tan and I think would actually call them
call each other Mosha. They would say,
"Hey, Misha, Mosha, Misha." The guy's
name was not his name was Rahun. His
name was Ra say what do you think Mosha?
So's playing over there. It was just
like a kind of an affectionate way. But
what is he's saying that every is an
element of Mosha
is Mashiach aspect of Mashiach the
one until
comes also. So this is Mashiach says. So
Mosha and Mashiah are synonymous so to
speak and every sadic they would call
each other Mosha. So every sadic has
this element of Misha Msiah. So we have
to connect ourselves to to this element
of each that a
person is a is a limb of the indwelling
presence of
um finite expressions of infinity
through the finite
world which are the limbs of the
mishkan. I don't know if limbs means
like arm. It means the the pieces of
Mishka or you know I guess maybe it
could mean both meaning the Mishkan
itself was
um beams and tarps and and hides and
things like that but obviously inside of
it all represents the limbs of man of of
a of a of a connection
to no one in can lift it
up
only could have had everything they
needed. They could have had gold and
silver and and and crimson and all this
stuff, but no one could make the Mishka.
What they had to do was they had to give
it to Mosa and Mosha was able to take
all of these parts and all these
beautiful like like speaks about in the
first thing these these colors. Some
people were gold, some people were were
were red wool. He took all of these
things and knew how to take it and weave
it all together. obviously and the whole
that was the did this but he was the one
that was able to bring it all
together all our words are when we're
little kids we're taught that every
mitzah we do is a brick in the mikdash
so that's what is kind of alluding to
here is that every word is also a brick
a limb a part of the building of the ba
mikdash up in shmay and we have to bring
it to the in order for him to be able to
basically put it in the right spot. Not
doing he's not doing anything. He's not
able to create felas. He's able to take
felas and just kind kind of place it in
the right place like a master architect
so that it so to speak looks good and is
put together properly.
They had to bring all the parts of the
Mishkan to Mosha and Mosha was able to
unify all the distinct parts and put it
together into a cohesive
Mishkan was the only one that was able
to do this. And so too when
we'reing we are um also try to we try to
we try to do this idea of bringing it
all up to um to the tadic. Uh I remember
once when I was when I my kids were much
more much little much smaller and my
daughter must have been three and my son
must have been
one and they were sitting on the carpet
on the floor and my daughter took a
sitter. She was already three so she
knew how to dab. So she took a sitter
upside down and started going yeah bye
bye bye bye bye bye bye bye bye bye bye.
And then my son was one started taking a
car eating eat in a corner. So my
daughter looked at me and she said,
"Daddy, he doesn't know how to do yet."
He was laughing. He's eating the corner
of the dinner. She knows how to do.
Usually they see upside down. They don't
read. Yeah, it's true.
So that's why you He's gr very smart
right now. The other one The other one
is steing.
Exactly. I don't have any tires against
him. What are you doing? Doing good. But
the idea, the first thought I was like,
"Ah, so sweet." It's the cutest of the
cute, the sweetest of the sweet. Like,
how sweet can it be? Then I looked at
myself. I'm like, "Oh, I'm the guy
that's laughing at her." Because I know
how to do. And now I go and I place
myself next to the amion of a Reb. If
anyone's ever beheld the aminoba or any
huge reba I'm like sitting there and I'm
gonna be diving with all my might all my
kavana and the is like you know like
they they asked you know how they asked
a rich once you know he said that the
rebba is in some sort of and when he
gets up to there on on I think it was or
I think it was the says when he gets up
to he sees there So they asked him but
is like it's four days ago when you're
up there on
on so he
said he's there the whole
year. So you know like it struck me that
that here I am and I'm I'm the der you
know. So the idea of there is that it's
a tremendous humility and when he's ding
he recognized that he doesn't know
anything either and he's mashing himself
to higher and bigger and bigger people.
That's the idea of right of wherever we
are to try to take our and to have that
deep humility to understand
that and that's I think the balance
again of what the Reb is saying here is
to recognize that we are so so so so
small. We're so valuable. We're so
precious. We're so connected to
everything else, but we're very very
very connected to a BL that's that's
much much bigger than us. And to have
that B is is also when expressed through
connecting to and in breast if you want
to go the
route. So then before you d you could
say you could say the
whole do and um but the idea is to
yourself and and they speak about this a
lot lately to the to the or if the tadik
is alive to mash yourself to him to be
there by him so that you're not just um
seeing words or you know seeing uh a
physical shell of a person but you're
you're digging into the to the the
kishkas so to speak to insights of what
really the saddic is by learning his by
trying to internalize it. Um and maybe
that's why the next words of the rabbi
and this just came to me now next words
of
the speak again switches gears to that a
person's learning to keep to to guard
and to keep. So that's the essence of of
connecting to it. to connect to means to
learn their toys, to try to be at their
tish, to try to speak to them, to try to
try to gain from them. But not in like,
oh, let's see if it's let's see if it's
a good tish. Let's see if it's let's,
you know, inspirational Torah is, you
know, no, you're here to try to listen
and gain in a way that you're going to
guard it. You're going to work on it.
You're going to continuously and a way
that it's going to affect you until you
you absorb it. you become the of the soy
that you're learning to do
that all
the letters of the terra that you're
learning um are souls like we said
before again it could be just souls are
like these spiritual um like like
liveless basically inner consciousness
if you want to re re-ransate
it now all of these things now if you
want to learn
Like many say doesn't mean he gave thera
means he's the giver of the that every
single second of life wherever you are
there's being taught who's speaking to
us. So if you're learning it like that
so every single word that you learn and
say for every single conversation or
every single interaction you have with
the whole world is all it's all it's all
inner consciousness that is trying to
bring to you trying to connect to you.
So now they become all these ideas and
these souls and these sparks so to speak
become
um clothed renewed in
the become so to speak
[Music]
pregnant there's a whole thing of Eber
but the idea is that everything follows
the same ideas of pregnancy that there's
an inception uh conception and then
there's a you know a a growing of the of
the embryo and then there's a birth. The
whole process of birth um is represented
also in the birth of our ideas and our
connections and our and
our let's just finish up until the let's
try we have two more
minutes is a hybrid of which is
We're not going to focus so much on how
all these things work
out which was the beginning of the says
of the of nostrils of breathing and
of an aspect
of honor respect is so to speak a a
clothing for us. Speaks about
this call his clothing his honor.
the these sparks of souls they
illuminate into
the and they illuminate
into that it's it's
renewed. Now you have these ideas that
you brought out into that started to
gestate started to become something
bigger than they were.
These are now brought who's now able to
take that to the next level where he's
able to take all of these
um these ideas and these like we said
sometimes they come from it comes from
beautiful places all of these um these
places that you found within that you
not didn't necessarily find before now
they're they're they're brought up to
your conscious and you're trying to
start to to deal with them and work with
them and they bring them into the words
of file. Now, when you bring them into
the words of with a connection to he's
able to take all of these words, all
these workings that you're trying to do
and put them in the right place so that
they're brought up to a tremendous
higher level.
defeat up on what is coming.
