We're just going to begin. Okay. Is the
second share and you guys are welcome to
pass through or sit down or do both. Um
second share in the
So last week we spoke about how
the Reb says that we're here to
basically fix the world. The world is
created for each and every one of us and
therefore each and every one of us can
and have to fix the world. We spoke last
week that it has more to do with fixing
[music] yourself obviously has to do
with working on yourself and putting
yourself together than um than going out
and starting another campaign or another
um program or something like that which
are also very good.
But he said they have to uh fix the
world and fill the world. a person has
to see
three things fix the world fill the
world and pray for the world. So he said
that uh that the is one of the is in the
beginning of we're justing from last
week is that to fill the world maybe is
the beginning of the process of to fix
the world. What does that mean? That a
lot of times we feel we find and we feel
that in our own selves we're we're
empty. We're empty or the gas tank is
empty. don't have something that's
inspiring us, something that we're
excited about that from within. We don't
we just don't feel it. So, you fill
yourself with some toy. You learn a
piece of that inspires you. You find
something that you grab onto a mitzvah
or something that in a certain place in
a certain time and you get this this
jolt of like that yes, I have something
within me. So you start to fill yourself
up and that filling yourself up gives
you the chance now to fix fix yourself
to fix yourself because after you get
filled with Tyra with fela with all
sorts of beautiful things a lot of times
that becomes it it sits as inspiration
as one of my used to always say he's
British it sounds much better in a
British accent inspiration is like
aspiration it's just like breathing it's
[snorts] in out like we were speaking
about before you know like some easy
come easy go. Things that go come quick,
they go very quickly. I I remember my
son last year was going through a kufa
of like, you know, just being sick with
viruses and this and all of a sudden he
broke out in like this rash and it went
all over his hand. I was like, "Ah,
hashem." He's like, "What are you
saying? It's crazy." I was like, "It
came in like 20 minutes. Going to be
gone in 20 minutes and it went like
went, you know, spread his whole body,
but it went through. It was like very
very quick in out." So that's what
happens a lot of times with Toya with
inspiration with these things. So then
the Reb says is to take that inspiration
that we have and bring it into ourselves
into specifically into the parts and the
places where we we can see that it
reflects these in these these ideas like
we find an idea of let's say just off
the top of my head like anger like a
very interesting toyra says about this
about anger and we're like inspired by
it but then the next step is to say oh
okay so when do I get angry what
triggers me why is it triggering me how
can I take this to and apply it to to
this idea and to work on it and to make
it like that that fixes yourself. That
takes it from being just something that
fills yourself with inspiration and and
becomes something that you're now
working to fix yourself. So we said that
those two things are the the pieces of
the puzzle that help a person to fix
himself which is a reflection that
definitely fixes the world. Um now the
Reb continues and he said in the in the
first paragraph he said that there's two
elements of the last thing they said was
to dav that you have to daven for the
world. So okay for the world means pray
that the whole world should be fixed and
everyone everyone should be come come
back to and should be and the whole
world should come and so we said that
there's two there's two elements of this
he says there's an element of
is before anything was passed so then
you could just dive in straight what
said after the is that once and
specifically we said he was speaking
about the cantonistic decrees of the
1800s where the Russians were drafting
young Jewish children for 25 years and
basically just destroying their lives.
It's not only destroying their Yiddish
but like destroying everything. And so
is working very hard to to be mak to to
be m these and he says that after is
passed already like those like those
those you have to be malish
you have to hide the in he says a mime
could mean a story a m could mean a mush
something that that um basically there's
mal that are upstairs that are like well
this is already signed and sealed this
you know the person's going to prison so
now you have to have a whole story and a
whole mush and then Maybe it'll be it'll
get through those mal and it'll come up
to and do and do what needs to be done.
Now B reb goes off on a whole like it's
like a a journey this um a whole journey
of very nice. So there's a tila that's
regular straight tila and there's tila
that's after the you have to hide in the
story but how do you know the difference
and obviously in general like he he said
in the last few words on the first
paragraph val that he's talking about
sadikim that are able to tell these
things that are able to like uh as we're
going to see it's a pretty to be able to
see what the difference is but however
and all the invok
on on a high level of sadic that's able
do these things is all reflected inside
of us. We have the within us that we can
also um take the lessons from these
things and apply it for for us on our
own levels. So B starts of
how would anyone in their right mind
know whether there's talking about in
heaven whether something was passed that
this is going to happen and it's not
going to happen
through the through things that we do
the Hashem we can know. So how do you
how does that work out? So he's going to
explain
it's when you do the mitzvah with utter
joy.
You don't want any of
who who writes
you just want more mitzvah
the says the reward of a mitzvah is a
mitzvah meaning you get another mitzvah
because he is so happy he's so um he's
getting such pleasure from the mitzvah
itself so All he wants is another
mitzvah. Right?
And obviously it's very high level in
itself. How many of us can say that when
we do a mitzvah we're like so joyous
that we don't want any we just want to
do the mitzvah sometimes sometimes we
get to those places but it's h it's rare
but as he's saying and he's going to go
into the the Indian of what's the
difference between someone that does
mitzvah like that or not. Um this is the
difference between he reflects it in the
difference between different types of
says this is the thing that hashem
command was able to point and say
specifically specifically this is what
said
every other in the whole history of the
world said hashem said like
didn't say that. He was clearly this
assh.
It's something that's a reflective lens
or a mirror that's unclear. It's murky.
So we say I I was uh I was thinking a
few weeks ago like the most uh probably
repeated word in the English language
besides from the you know like certain
types of words like that is like like
like like every single like sentence is
like has like the word like thousand
times right because we're not clear.
Someone that's crystal clear never uses
that word. Everything this is recorder
that's safer you know everything's
clear. You don't need to say well it's
like this is like a it's like a type of
recorder. It's not really that's because
we're not super clear and we have to
make comparisons which is good. It helps
us. But was not like he was razor sharp.
That's a clear lens, a clear mirror.
Everything that you see in it is
crystal.
Now that reflects back into
some people they do because they're
going to get like Jacobs and he says
they're going to get the 70 sushi and
pizza pies in the next world. Oh, we
have the plug.
So they're going to get a lot of gald
sushi in the next world. So they do a
mitzvah. It's going to be gishmaka in an
enemy mitzvah. So he has no interest in
putting on fillain. Why would I put on
fillin? Ah, you're going to give me
sushi. Okay, I'll put on filling. You
know, like uh kids in high school,
whatever. They have incentive programs.
You're going to learn a tough. It's
going to be so amazing. You're going to
get the trip to here. You get to go.
Wow. Amazing. I'll do it.
If you didn't give me the incentive, you
don't have
to do it.
It's something that's unclear.
It's like seeing something from very
far.
It's actually a person could say, "You
know what? I'm going to put in the
effort here because I'm going to get a
in 120 years." It's amazing.
Now, the Reb is going to go off and
bring a little idea from a from aim
showing how these this connects.
Now, payment of
rewarding someone is called how is a
profit.
in the right that we say after um so we
say
he comes in joy and he carries his his
sheav
talking about payment
he goes and he's going and he's he's
crying and he's sleing and he's carrying
I had to look this word up I probably
said it a thousand times I pa didn't
know what mesh means mesh mean in this
context he the article tites it as
measure a mesh is a measure of his seeds
of his plantings so
basically painting the image of a person
that's planting a field and when he's
planting his field it's he's sitting
there toiling and tilling and throwing
and watering it's it's hard it's hard
work and what do you see you see a
barren field see nothing
he knows you got to put in the effort
you're going to reap the benefits
and the same thing is with you're going
to put in the effort now you're going to
get in the end of the day.
Now, what does that have to do with over
here? It's
the end. When you're going to get the
when you put in the effort, you're going
to get the it's
the sees the but it's very distant.
He doesn't want any future rewards. When
he does a mitzvah, he's enjoying doing
the will of
he's so happy doing it.
It sickens him. It disgusts him. If
you'd say, "Here, you know, here's
here's $100 for what you did." He's
like, "Gh, what are you giving me money
for what I did? You going to give me
suicide?" Like, what if I'm doing it for
you? I have tremendous enjoyment and
love doing it for you, connecting to
you. Why would it would it would disgust
him? There's a famous um let me just
finish the sentence
that comes out that his is right here in
the mitzvah. So he's not waiting for any
he's right here. Let's just see a few
lines more
payment.
It's it's illuminated.
He's seeing it right here right now.
He is in the right here.
>> So it sounds like he still does like the
but he he has it clearly in front of
him. So that's
>> it's a different
>> So on one hand he's saying that he's bow
but in that line he's saying that he
sees it right in front of him. So it's
not even my just right there. Therefore
he's
>> I hear he's saying that this car is just
quicker. It's right here. Right. That's
what it sounds.
>> I I think I think it's a different um
quality also meaning it's coming from a
different spot. That's what I was going
to say. The story from the Bent of It's
not a story. It's a it's a um a Mishna
Mishna. I think it's the second Mishna,
third Mishna, something like that. It
says that you should try to serve the
master.
So, you should try to serve him. There's
another.
It's not the one that we have in our
thing, but if you look in the Mishna,
it's on the side there, another gear.
So, the vent grabbed onto that and he
gave the marshall of we'll say it like
the way the vent, but you can add in um
Donald Trump or any famous person in the
world nowadays. He says the king finally
this sweet little simpleton gets the
chance to meet the king and have one,
you know, one minute with a request for
the king. So when he finally gets there,
he says, "King, uh, you know, I want X,
Y, and Z." So one level is that the king
says, "Ah, you want a new house and and
and $150,000 is a pocket change. Seems
like a reasonable request. You seem like
a great guy. Here it is." Fine. So he
gets his.
The other level is that the person comes
and the only thing he wants is the king.
He's asking the request cuz he has the
minute to request from the king. But
what does he really want the king to
say? He wants the king to say, "Hm."
Ah, you want that? No. I don't think
that that's not what I want from you and
me. You know what? Come back every day
and we're going to sit down. I want you
I want you to be inside my circle. I
want to talk with you every day. I see
you're an intelligent,
authentic person. I want you to be right
here with me every day. Half hour. We're
going to spend we're going to smoo and
take a stroll in the garden together.
Ah, okay. That's something that I want.
So, the Bent says that there's one level
that you should serve Hashem. I don't
want Oh, if it comes
like amazing. I got $100,000. I'm so
thankful. Thank you. Not doing it for
that, but if it comes, great. Other
level is I don't want any I don't want
any numbers like that's why he says pr
is like um like a slice of bread. It's
just a little piece. I don't want peace.
I want you. I want the whole thing. I
want Hashem. So that's I think the
difference over here that the mitzvah or
it mean getting from obviously there are
mitzvah that you get a gishmak from
eating chlant is like it's a mitzvah
there is like you know putting on and
you do it every morning you're tired
necessarily you get aar from the mitzvah
it's a mitzvah to tie your hands I don't
know but if all you want is hashem so
then when you're tying yourself you're
just you're just binding yourself to
hashem so that's the itself that you're
that's that's right here. And so it's
not just like you're getting a later
versus a earlier. It's a totally
different there. It's just like I want
something from you. It's transactional.
It's like listen, I'm going to give you
today and give me you know like people
make those deals. I'm going to do you
give me parasa. But it's like I don't I
don't want parasa. I don't want fillain.
I just want you Hashem. The alterb used
to say that I don't want your angels. I
don't want your mahaba. I don't want
your I just want you Hashem. Just you.
So that's what he's saying.
>> I think it's to reach to come to a level
where we feel really love with Hashem.
It's like when we love someone, right?
And that guy will ask us for a favor and
then like he's going to offer us money,
right? Right.
>> We're not going to want to take it from
>> such a mad to love like that in a way.
>> Right. Right.
>> The question is how how can we really
get to that level?
>> Right. Right. That that's what I was
saying before that is you know sadik and
you see them they're just like ah
they're so in ecstasy just doing a mid
care about the
>> it's like they feel they really feel the
love
>> right? It's like who's talking of the
earth scar. It's like
>> right that famous story of the balm on
the the night of Pes in Istanbul when he
was trying to get to Israel and and he
all of a sudden he went into devas and
he was like turning white and then he
came back and he started singing and
dancing and they said like what
happened? So he said I went up and they
told me that because of what I just did
you know some miracle lost all all my
mahaba. So in the beginning I was just
lost all my other mahaba and then all of
a sudden I realized no I don't have any
reason to serve hashem just for hashem
to start to dance and then then the from
kachim you know the angels are like now
he's going to serve you with no give to
him back give him all the scars like I
got back those I'm also still happy you
know so but yeah but it's a da of of
love right so that's the the nakuda
right I remember
my wife was in a shear a bunch of years
back and the revitson was and
American Israeli and she was giving it
to American girls in Israel and she goes
you Americans like everything is about
like oh my gosh you help me out with my
kid here's here's $50 here's I'm going
to give you a bouquet of flowers it's
like in Israel we don't don't want that
we help you we love you like don't pay
me back for my love that I gave to you
like why do we need to pay me like we're
we're together we're yum yala you know
so it's a it's a it's a cultural thing
but that's that's the that's the you
have to get to that dar of love it's
like what you Good. That's the, you
know, avoid to work on.
>> What's the
>> What's the secret?
>> What's the secret to get there?
>> Yeah, we're going to learn the Torah.
Maybe we'll glean some secrets. So far,
I don't I didn't think of it in that
context, but we'll we'll we'll work on
it together. Let's see where he goes
from here. So, but that's the nudes,
right? To to come to that level of love
that you just you're happy just doing
his will. So that's the two das and
that's the he says
how you going to tell
but you didn't explain that yet because
how do I know what what does that have
to do with anything? So he's going to go
with
I think we're at the end of over here.
This is where Freed was here last week.
He mentioned he touched on this
Because the structure and the the
construct of the world is mitzvah. It
gives the whole framework of the whole
world.
This is the human structure, the
the uh space and time, right? We're the
human being. We're our consciousness and
space and time. So he says
everything, all of this reality that we
live in just draws from the
all of his actions, all of the all of
the world is based in rooted in
all of my are. So if you put those two
together comes out that the physical
reality of the world is based on the
is a total of unity with his.
So when is his misa meaning the mitzvah
as they reflect in this world are
straight when they're put in order
is super happy with the physical reality
of the world which is the mitzvah.
A person that makes something he makes a
beautiful table, a beautiful chair. It's
beautiful.
He sits there looking at it, touching
it, feeling it. Ah, what a gorgeous clay
that I made. So made a beautiful world
and the world structure is based around
on the mitzvah. mitzvah is that which
internally gives it um and Hashem when
things are going well, he has this joy
within the mitzvah, within the world um
coming from the the beauty of things
working out of going the way it's
supposed to.
It's all basically one unified piece.
Someone who does the mitzvah with pure
like we said before
this person is doing the mitzvah just
for Hashem. Hashem in the world has the
mitzvah and in the world that's how he
reflects his joy with the mitzvah. So a
person the us all that we do a mitzvah
with joy just for Hashem when he feels
that joy he's feeling Hashem's in the
world
that's when things are going
when there's something going wrong when
there's a when there's pain going on in
this structure now so
this defle this reflects a lack
that we see that himself has these
obviously anthropomorphisms these you
know ways that we describe of being sad
of being depressed there's a there's a
kill there's a sadness there
so this person that's going to the
mitzvah and all he wants is the joy of
Hashem he's so connected to the joy of
hem and to the reality of hem that he'll
feel if Hashem is there or not cuz
Hashem is in the mitzvah also and when
things are going well he's pulsating joy
in the mitzvah this person's going into
the mitzvah now it's like entering into
the of Hashem and feeling the pulse of
Hashem's heart and I'll feel ah it's
pulsing it's going well it's joy Hashem
is joyous there's no he feels that
there's something ah there's like like a
depression in the mitzvah not from us
like when we do a mitzah like I'm just
sad no he's like always so connected
He'll feel that he'll recognize this is
depression in Hashem. Hashem is sad some
reason. Some reason we don't know why
something's going wrong over here with
our relationship.
So that's
he's going to be able to see what
happened, what's going on.
He's even going to be able to pinpoint
what where this is coming from.
If he can't do a when he does a let's
say he puts it on and as he's putting on
he feels a
there's something that's against
um on let's say the beginning of the
year or the the peak of the world or the
peak of the something like the the
highest init
feels in the foot. It's something in the
end of the year. Whatever it is,
we should begin the week on Sunday
already thinking about Shabas, right?
You buy things,
buy some flowers. Have another plug
here. So, you have to get the going for
Shabas. Whatever each day of the week,
you have to go and prepare for Shabb
Sunday.
>> Yeah.
If you have flowers that could last from
Sunday to shabas, you should start
selling on [laughter] Sunday.
Usually it's like around 25 seconds
before. We didn't do the flowers. Ah,
cotton flower. I know we have flowers.
It shouldn't be like this. It's supposed
to be like that. But it's nice anyways.
Okay. Yeah. So, you're supposed to start
preparing on on Sunday. I'm sure you if
you're in the flower business, you're
already thinking about it on Sunday for
sure. I have another guy that makes
delicious sourdough here. Ah, and he's
said he, you know, he's making the
starters on Monday and he's hundling
with it already the whole week. Yeah.
Once a week, we're hundling in Shabas.
The joy of
Shabas is the is the uh is the goal.
It's the end line, the end zone. We're
trying to get to Shabas.
You already feel it in Sunday, Monday,
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday in
the in the
meaning the mitzvah that the whole world
was created.
The whole time, space and consciousness
was created using the using the mitzvah
through the mitzvah through this
in in um
imploring us to try to get to this place
of having the joy from the mitzvah
itself.
You shouldn't have to wait till the
shamish comes. Wait till Shabas comes.
You should already now in the mitzvah in
the week start to bring the shabas
already here.
You don't have to wait till the person
we shouldn't have to wait till we die
after 120 years. But we shouldn't have
to wait that long to get the the joy of
mitzvah.
I remember uh speaking uh we were in the
base medish a bunch of years ago and
there was some guys there were 18 years
old a whole bunch of interesting guys
and there were some guys there were just
like hanging out wasting time just like
you know like let's just get through a
year or two in yeshiva and then we'll
move on in life and I remember looking
to the guy I wasn't this big learner or
anything I was just starting out my
journey but I looked at him and I go
like is this what you want to do for the
next 80 years you want to like basically
space out and mumble for for domining
for an an hour a day and then you want
to just sit around bottling for the next
3 years until you can get out of it and
then all you have to do is bottle for
for the hour share that you have to go
through and like this is what you want
to do this is what you want to spend 80
years doing like just mumbling and
bottling it's like I was like if you're
going to do it anyways cuz I see you're
a good guy you want to stay religious so
just fill it
open up something that'll inspire fela
get going find something that that
inspires your learning find a learning
that inspires you that you connect with
that you're not just Okay, I'll learn
the gamar. Okay, there's question the
answer. Find something that lights your
fire. You're going to do it anyways. If
you're going to go off to Thailand,
okay, I understand. Like, go off to
Thailand, do your thing, have your fun
time, and see if you come back. But if
you're going to be one of these guys
that's sitting here for next 80 years,
just make it worthwhile. And it's for
all of us. If we're sitting here, we're
doing the mitzvah and we're coming to
Davening. So, help us. You know, we have
to work on ourselves like we were
saying, what's what's going to be like
what's going to what's going to get us
to this place? So it goes back to the
first year. Try to find the Tyra that's
going to inspire you. Try to find
something that inspires you. Try to make
it real inside your heart. That's why we
said last week that this is a connection
of that speaks about like so much about
connecting to why because he says you
know you have you have you have the on
the he said that each person should make
a out of all the you learn you learn
today come back.
How can I keep this? How can I do this?
Right? That's what the Aram the son of
the Rambam he says that that's what the
Yan did for 40 years in the desert.
That's all they did. They would hear
like one or two or from and it would go
through a whole list how they heard it a
few times and then he says they would go
out into the desert and they would just
speak to Hashem about the mitzvah. What
what does this mitzvah mean? How do I do
it?
I don't know exactly where I remember
years ago like hearing about it
says that and they would go out and they
would just
>> I don't know if he uses this
they would just speak to Hashem and they
would just speak and speak and speak
what does it mean how do I keep it what
does it mean to me how what what does it
apply to me what it what does it matter
to me you know like who cares to fill in
a few months ago I was like each week I
should try to think of something
interesting a question that I have on
fill in and think of answers to the
filling. So it'll inspire me to fill
like one I was just like why is it black
like everything black black you know
like so morbid like filling has to be so
dark like white filling would be so
pretty and beautiful you know fill in
this or so yeah I came up with some
shots of his things you know but like
whatever you do that's that's what they
would do in the desert and that's how
they would do it struck me also a bunch
of years back that that's maybe a shot
in
Gar says
right they
these certain they would spend an hour
before davening every is an hour getting
readyed
then they would spend an hour the garra
says
and then an hour afterwards debriefing
coming back so it's like the garra says
that's n hours a day of
when would they work how they make money
so it says they they whatever work they
did was misbar and it says how' they
learn says whatever learning they did
they never forgot So you could learn it
up. The shot that I always understood
stam is that a guy divins nine hours a
day. He better be, you know, hashem
better hook him up. Hashem you got
memory. It's perfect. Never going to
forget a thing. So that's you know
that's kind of the you know
transactional like I gave you nine hours
of my day to Hashem and I only have two
hours to learn though. You better make
those that two hours really worthwhile.
Or you learn it up that imagine you
learned one in the moran and you spent
three hours in davening about that
you're probably not going to forget that
very quickly [laughter] and fraud if you
spent nine hours in one day. So all you
have to do is take every every every
that you learn and make it into and like
we said last week that that's the nikuda
is to find the things that inspire you
to find the things that light your fire
deting and in in in learning and
everything and then to bring it into
your life bring it into your life
through gives us the gift that even if
we don't have this to do this every
single day for an hour or for 9 hours or
for 5 minutes or for 2 minutes whatever
we do let's say we dive
instrument we could try to find a place
like we said last week try to find a
place I find that this is one of the
most powerful ways of doing this try to
find a relationship that you could find
between the tire that you're learning
whatever it is and a word in tavi it
could be a word in ashri it could be a
word in
that word you just stop and spend five
to 10 seconds thinking about it if you
want according to some you could even
speak about it like the rebas would
always speak from but whatever you want
to
and just just use it as a as a platform
to say, "Oh, this is an amazing Torah. I
have it now. Hashem, please help me keep
it. I know I struggle with this part of
it. So, Hashem, please help me to get
over it and to to work on it. Maybe if I
do like this and then the is illuminated
and it comes into comes into your
private life into your where where
you're going to make it real and then if
you have those those things maybe maybe
we're getting on to an answer of how we
get to this level of serving with the
mitzvah in the
of just that Hashem's
is in the mitzvah the reality of
everything is within the mitzvah and we
get that joy from the mitzvah because
once you start doing these things you
recognize and you realize that the scar
of what you're getting has nothing to do
with pizza and with sushi and with
people's recognition or anything. It's
just that you found something beautiful
and you brought it inside into the
deepest recesses of your heart and into
your life and it changed you. Ah,
Hashem, wow. And it changed you to
recognize that Hashem is within you was
in you. Hashem is doing this whole
thing, bringing this whole thing. And so
anytime we feel that it's a tremendous
level of
and that hopefully will bring us to that
of that we get just from being there
with the mitzvah with and then we'll be
able to also a little bit taste this
idea of whether is happy in the mitzvah
at this moment or if he's not and where
the might be and we'll be able to see
the and then next week we'll see what to
do with that like how does that how how
do we take uh how do we go from here.
>> How did I respond to you? You didn't
even mention that part.
>> Which part? Which the story?
>> M to He said, "If you're going to do it,
you might as well do it."
>> Oh, he he laughed and kept doing it.
[laughter]
>> He's like,
>> "No, he just laughed and just like kept
kept up doing his thing."
>> Not doing.
>> Yeah.
Good to see you.
>> He'll he'll edit it. I'll deal with it
afterwards.
>> Where are we connecting?
>> What do you mean?
>> Got to connect it. Every piece you got
to get
so quick.
>> Yeah. So, you put tape around it. That's
smart.
>> I was spray. Yeah.
