LDC Press Conference

you know okay now we're uh officially ready to begin again my name is Robin motions of weissford I'm the chair of the local Development Corporation and I'm going to be introducing everybody in a moment but I just wanted to sort of to set the background and tell them to the press conference but this press conference was is quote by the Electoral Development Corporation Allegra Development Corporation is the township Economic Development agency but it's it sort of runs as an independent Corporation where our own 501 C3 Corporation working under the umbrella of the township and the programs that we're offering today and really the discussion that we're going to be having is on behalf of the liquid Development Corporation on their programs we're honored to have the mayor with us and the mayor is the township liaison to the Lincoln Development Corporation but I'm sort of limiting the context of at least the formal presentation of this meeting to the Lakewood Development Corporation and the programs that it's offering anyone that's free to bring up any issue afterwards but right now we're focusing on the language Development Corporation and its programs um the there's no secret that the economy uh is in pretty bad shape perhaps something doesn't go by when you hear of another person that's lost the job or another business that's about to go under and there have been many efforts at many levels to try to use to use the word stimulate which become a common word and the federal government from some of the state agencies but here in Lakewood being the Local Economic Development agency here in Lakewood we felt that we needed to come forward with our own local programs and the motto with the Lakewood Development Corporation has always been Lakewood jobs for Lakewood residents now we consider if we get a Lakewood job floral Lakewood resident that's a home run if we get a Lakewood residential job or help getting liquid resident the job Adam Lakewood that's a double and if we get someone from Adam Lakewood to work in Lakewood that's also a demo and that's really what we concentrate on but I really our home run would be getting late with people that are having difficulties of getting employment to work in Lakewood in Lakewood businesses and that's the um that's really the win-win situation with both the business and the employee are at Great assets to Lakeland to the some of the programs thank you I just want to say that we're excited about this you know we've heard about the stimulus package coming down from the federal government the city is packaged here in the State uh here's a stimulus package happy right here in Lakewood Township we're finding a way to encourage business both to expand and come into labor um is it is it's a New Concept something that the Urban Enterprise Summers around the state have not been doing and really through the efforts of Rabbi Weisberg and Steve ryman.gov officer we put together a program which you can hear about which we think is is unique and different something to say to a local business you know when we get stimulus money from the federal government earmarked for certain areas for example Lakewood Township received a grant of eight hundred thousand dollars now that's a wonderful thing would be very useful to put in a lot of different directions unfortunately the only thing I'd use it for is so I can I can put up solar energy I can change light bulbs or put uh new windows in but I can't I can't pay for any help uh this kind of stimulus is going to put dollars into into people's pockets uh on on the local basis and that's really the seamless money should be for helping create jobs helping to keep jobs and helping people to expand uh this program's going to do that and I'm very excited about it and I think it's a wonderful wonderful concept of water compliment around Weisberg circum nutrition her staff and certainly Stephen thank you thank you mayor I just want to introduce some of the staff that's present here today um starting with Mr Russ corbia dead end who was the uh the uz director here at Lakewood and the director of economic component for many years and now Services many years yes many many years he now serves as a consultant to the LBC Mr Steve Ryman is the township director of Economic Development and to my right is Trish comsta Patricia Council who's the executive director of the local Development Corporation and to her writers Jehovah Abraham who is the director of Business Development to the Electoral Development Corporation and finally David decline who is in charge of small business services for political Community Services Corporation and this team that's sitting around this table is basically responsible for developing these programs and implementing these programs now overall these programs in total are worth a few million dollars It's a combination of some of the older programs which you want to inject some some more life into as well as a couple of new programs which we're introducing because of the situation in the economy today
