Lakewood PBA President Gary Przwoznick At Rally In Trenton

I got to know me way too well. The president of the Lwood TV is tragedy [Music] [Applause] together. On January 14th, less than 2 months ago, my Lake my local Lake PBA Local 71 reached a compromise with the township governing body that saved the jobs of five fellow officers and saved the town well over $800,000. Within 15 minutes of that compromise, while driving to our local meeting to tell the guys, I received a call that one of our officers had been shot. Instead of going to a few gay meeting, I went to the scene and helped EMTs pull my coworker and a good friend out of his vehicle in which he had been harmlessly murdered. Officer Chris Malos was a go-getter who enjoyed parking the streets and interacted with the community. He came to work that day to do his job. As a result, Chris was transferred to New Jersey Shore Medical Center where he was declared dead. I can't describe the devastation that we have felt in this loss. Life has been held horrible with tragedy. We lost fellow brother William only three short years ago. Last year, fellow brother John Wilson was shot in the face and lost his eye and three other officers were shot during the rain. Officer Wilson had to retire due to his injuries. Like the law frequent officers who were doing their job where we took an oath to serve and protect the citizens of Lightning. When we took that oath, we never imagined that we would attend funerals for our fallen brothers in the town. The CI1 retired and other officers who were injured just doing their job. The assassination of Chris serves as a reminder to each of us that our jobs are vital to our community. We are the good guys. We are being outnumbered by the proliferation of gang members and criminals that have been praying not only on the residents of our communities but us as well. In tough tough fiscal times, it is a known fact that crime increases. Yes, now turning to public servants as a way to save money. We are aware that times are hard and changes are necessary. But I think it is important that everyone knows that we are not the bad guys and we are not feeding at the public benefit straw. We are public servants who have been injured chasing suspect suspects committed to rescuing homeowners with fires responding to fat license. We live in New Jersey. We pay healthy portion of our day income taxes and property taxes and are still dedicated to the residents of our working community. I do not think the few those who take advantage of the public system outnumber the many. The large population of public workers do their jobs, pay their benefits, and work hard for the general good of our residents. Thank you. [Applause] Have we had enough? We had enough.
