How We Made "The Jewish Jedi"!

We got sick awesome reviews for the Jewish Jedi and we actually got a very funny video. Watch this. How did he use the force? Like from the menorah. Lightsaber. Oh, lightsaber? Yeah. Oh, wow. Okie dokie. Here we go. The Jewish Jedi. By the way, I love this logo. Yeah, okay. This is a menorah. This is a slider shot. Took a while to get. There's a slider behind the screen. [Music] Love this reveal. You always got to start off cinematic. Ralph, there's this guy outside with a lightsaber and he says he wants $1,000. Oh, really? Yeah. Why don't you tell him to come back tomorrow, okay? He's just like clueless. That's what I love. It's perfect. You know, innocent kid. Ralph, he said if you don't give it to him, he's going to break down the door with his lightsaber. Yeah, tell him that's totally fine with us, okay? And um if his lightsaber does happen to run out of batteries or something, tell him we'd be more than happy to give him new ones. Ralph, he looks very serious. This is the worst of times. Just Just lock the door and let's forget about this. Mo was perfect for the scene. Yeah, he's perfect for it. Um excuse me, sir. Okay, that's a legit lightsaber. By the way, that what it is is it's a toy and then we put an overlay over it video on top of the video and we cut it out and we move it frame by frame. Everything's done frame by frame like we say, the video is really pictures. It's 24 pictures per second. And if you just, you know, zoom in on what's going on in the picture, you can cut things out, add things in and that's how we do things. This isn't This is not a normal lightsaber right there. This is like a fire lightsaber. I like it. Is that fire lightsaber? It's easy. It's got like flames coming out of it. My boss said I have to lock the door, but you can come back tomorrow. And he said about that toy lightsaber, we have batteries for the toy. But how stupid can you get? He's like a toy like like that's as real as it gets. He's clueless. Yeah, the door didn't shut because there was something in the way. So, we just added in the sound effect of the door shutting and it just like everything goes together. It's like you hear it in the background like it. I'm sorry about that. Let me get back to work. This is great. Okay, so here's a big special effects shot coming up. I love this shot. We're removing the door. Yeah, yeah. So, watch this shot. Oh. I mean, walks right through, right? You just knocked down the door. Bam. You disintegrated the door. It turned into smoke. Yeah, so so basically for this shot, basically we took two shots. We put it on a tripod. Like we always say, if you want to get special effects, you got to put it on a tripod. Put it Put it on a tripod. We got a shot of of the door there. So, that's where you first see, you know, zooming in towards the door. The sparks and all that is overlays. We added that on top of that layer. And we got a second shot. We took down the door. We unscrewed the whole thing and we took down the door and then we had him stand there and then walk into the door. And then we put those two shots close to each other and we put an explosion in the middle so it mends those two shots seamlessly so you can't even tell. And that's basically what we did and all the fire and all that stuff are overlays. Those are extra layers we put on top of the um on top of of the other layers. So, that's how you get the sparks also as a layer on top of the layer of the video we shot. So, those are all special effects that we add in afterwards. Okay, so that's basically how it's done. Yeah, this is in reference to those that didn't get it in reference to one episode episode where they locked him in the closet, yeah. All right. I think you lost your stick. Thank you. That's cool. Love it. Love it. Simple. How do you get it to zoom Zoom in so slow. It's like great close-ups. This uh Mo blazer shot. [Music] My son, you must trust the force. Trust the force. Okay, special effects shot coming up. Oh, I love it. Love it. Love it. LOVE IT. LIKE LIKE WHEN HE USED THE FORCE of the menorah like and then and then he zapped like him and then and then and then It broke in. Yeah, he broke into like pieces. That's what he was talking about. How did he use the force? Like from the menorah. Lightsaber. Oh, lightsaber? Yeah. Oh, wow. BREAK IT. SO, LET'S GO BACK AND DISCUSS THAT FOR 1 second how he did this. Yeah. So, here's the funniest thing. You want You want to see something funny? Pay attention to Mo. He's on the floor, right? When you look at it, it actually came out great. It looks like he fell on the floor from the last explosion that comes in like there's You'll see there's a fireball that shoots out. It looks like it goes and you hear a big boom, right? Like a piece boom. And then it looks like he falls on the floor from the impact of the boom, right? But really what was happening, watch look. You'll see it. See he falls on the floor. If you pay attention though, he he really he cracked up. He started laughing uncontrollably. Yes. So, but it it worked out perfect cuz when you're when you're paying attention to this, you're just like, "Oh my gosh, he fell on the floor." But actually, he fell on the floor from laughter. That's from laughter. Hold it. Hold it. Hold it. Hold it. Serious face. Serious face. No, no, no, look. So, the way we did this is very simple. Everything goes on a tripod and once everything is on a tripod, we just add different layers of of the We had different layers of effects of electricity shooting out of the candles and stuff. Just little, you know, a little hard to explain exactly how we did that. But and then we added light to the room like a little green, you know, light that's like flashing. Like that was the last boom. You saw the fireball boom that comes. Then, okay, so this is cool. Then he overheats cuz of the fireball boom. And boom, his pants fall. He's just dead, right? He's just gone. by the power of the menorah. So, how we did that again is there's two shots. One shot is with him standing there and shaking. Um then we added an overlay of the sparks coming from his his shoes and then shooting up. Then we quickly cut as that's going to a different shot of the on a tripod. So, it's the same angle. The background's exactly the same. But a different in the same spot, we had someone drop his clothes and we put his shoes on the floor. Ow. So, you put those two together. Him in the frame and him not in the frame, but his clothing falling down and his shoes. And you put them right next to each other super quick together with um his the the effect of the, you know, the lightning coming up which kind of like helps it blend all together and helps you not see him. And bam, that's what you get. It just looks like he disintegrates. Yeah. Yeah, but you you work super slow with this frame by frame and it's really cool. How long does this take? Actually, this one didn't take that long. Probably took a half an hour to do. The other one probably took like hour or two. These are Yeah, these were actually These are actually pretty simple ones. The door falling off took a long time. I don't know, maybe 5 hours. I don't know. That one had a lot of trouble with, but Yeah, and then we added some smoke. Yeah, okay. Okay. And then yeah, this is we did not shoot this mean shot. How'd you get the clouds in there? Took it off the internet. Took it off the internet. And then I panned it down. She's not talking in this thing. We added in his audio afterwards. And it ends off like nice peaceful, you know, like back to work like nothing ever happened. And that's the Jewish Jedi. Okay? Yeah.
