The Connection Between Shemen and Zikaron - Rabbi Shlomo Katz | Chanukah 2020

we all know that chanukah is the holiday of oil of shaman and our sages in the gemara and the track date in horayot tell us that oil is good for memory for zikaron you know what's so interesting about memory i could be standing by beauty by light by wonderful things but if something triggers my mind and i have a memory of something that once brought darkness to my life i don't see what's in front of me memory is a very tricky thing it takes us away from what's in front of us right now but when i'm sitting by the chanukah lights somehow all i remember my memory only takes me to the good i only remember all the memories i have are all the miracles you've done for me so when i'm tonight by the candles tonight's prayer is very very simple please ribanus may all the memories i have of our relationship always be the ones where i felt so loved and protected may all the memories i have while i sit by the hanukkah candles of anything that has to do with you and me and my children and all my loved ones only be ones which bring me closer and [Music] closer you
