tremendously asha hershey and all
the people that are involved in kala
tarakula for the incredible opportunity
to share some inspiration and just a
small thought that will hopefully uplift
us
during sarasota my phone rang it was a
young fellow successful young fellow who
was really getting closer to hashem
and he said to me rabbi i want to ask
you a question
do you guys sell
opening the ark opening the arm for an
ela
and i said to him actually we don't i
said why are you asking he says because
i want to buy it and i'm willing to pay
good money
i said i'm going to be honest with you
we don't usually sell opening vrm for an
ela
how do you decide i said i try to find
someone who
maybe had a difficult year something was
wrong in their home in their health and
their livelihood and i figure listen
opening nila is a great source it's a
great merit let them open the arun for
ila the closing prayer the closing feel
of yom kippur
and then hopefully that will have a
positive impact while davin with more
kavanaugh with more focus and
concentration and just the fact that
they're standing in front of the iron
credits at this holy moment suspicious
time hopefully we'll have an impact
that's what i've been doing all the
years
this fell said to me would you be
willing to sell it to me for the right
price
i said maybe i'd have to think about it
i don't know let me think about it a
little bit
about 15 minutes later the fellow calls
me back and he says rabbi what he goes i
just pulled my car over because i'm so
excited to tell you what i just thought
of
i said what do you just think of he says
like this he says i'd like to buy
opening the arm for naila and i'm going
to pay top dollar for it
i said i told you i'm not sure if it's
for sale it goes i don't want it for
myself i said so what do you want he
says i want to buy it i want to have the
merit of giving away
the this incredible honest incredible
keyboard of opening the arm for the ila
to somebody who really needs it i want
that school i want to have that merit he
says it's a win-win okay it'd be great
if i could have it i understand he says
but the opportunity to sponsor that
another jewish person who really needs
something could have something very
special in their life i think that's a
beautiful thing rabbi
is it a deal
and i said i can't think of something
more beautiful than that of course it's
a deal so it's great i'm going to make a
very substantial contribution find
somebody who needs it give it to them
let them open the our own i'll be in the
crowd and i'll be happy knowing that i
was able to help someone in a time of
need and this is such a beautiful
concept or idea and i think it's really
important to think about this not during
a series
during rosh hashanah kipper the high
holiday season drink l
it's important to think about it now
sukkas is over we're back into day to
day grind we're back into regular life
and we have to realize that the
inspiration and the lift that we got
during this period of time can't just
dissipate it's important it's critical
and it's crucial
and this concept of this idea of
thinking about other people being
sensitive to other people not just
thinking about ourselves is so important
and it's ultimately what will carry us
through this year let's each take a few
minutes to try to think in our own lives
how we can upgrade our benadryl very our
interpersonal how we could start
thinking about other people and not just
thinking about ourselves and based on
the veteran will give each and every one
amazing upcoming year
