how do we define a leader
there are many ideas that come to mind
but i want to share with you one
that to me is most critical
to being a leader
the gemara tells us the end of sata then
the times of mashiach
the leaders of the generation
kellef will be like the face
of a dog
what does that mean that the leaders of
generation will be like the face of the
dog
review that when a master walks with the
dog and the dog is running ahead of the
master
it appears it looks like the master is
following the dog
but if you pay
a little look a little closer you'll see
that every so often the dog turns around
and if the master turns around
and starts walking the other way
the dog turns around and follows the
master and walks the other way so while
it looks like the dog is leading the
master in reality the master is leading
the dog maybe charles lanter explains
the times of mashiach before mishiach
the leaders will be weak they'll be like
the face of a dog that even though
they're in front of the nation but
they're always looking back and seeing
do they have the people's approval
what are people saying
they're dependent and looking towards
the people
leadership is somebody that lives their
life in such a way where they are not
trying to win other people's approval
they're not trying to get likes
it's not a popularity contest
they're living with one mission
and that mission is
ratzo and hashem to do what hashem wants
to live our lives
for what we believe in what we feel is
true what we believe is right that's our
focus that's our goal
what happens when we live our life in
such a way that we're focused on doing
what's right we're not trying to win
popularity contests we don't always do
what's popular because we're committed
above all to do what's right
what happens is that people turn to us
and they see
us
and they see our
direction our example
and they follow that example of people
that are committed to al-qarash baruch
to hashem not people that are
wary
as much as what everyone else thinks
that's what it means to be a leader
if we live our lives the proper way
maybe we're not cut out to be the
spokesman
for our
community
maybe we're not going to be that leader
in the public figure sets
but just being people that live our
lives the way we should being people
that are focused on the will of hashem
that makes us leaders that makes us
people that others turn to us
and are inspired by us and learn from us
how to live their lives we should be
zoho to be true
leaders thank you for listening
