welcome everyone every single friday night jewish mothers jewish fathers throughout the entire world give their children a bracha and they bless them yes echoing the bracha that is given by yaakov to his grandchildren we bless our children to be like ephraim menashe and of all the jewish personalities of all the role models that we have why specifically this bracha is and perhaps the answer is that ephraim and menasha were unique they were not the children of yaakov avinu they were his grandchildren the sons of yosef and they become shvatim they get a portion inherits israel in a certain sense these grandchildren they exceed their potential they're given the bracha not of grandchildren but they're given the bracha of children they go beyond what is their entitlement and they get even more perhaps that's the ultimate bracha that parents give to their children not to reach their potential but to expand their potential to be even greater than their potential to exceed their potential that's the bracha that we introduce our children to every single shabbos you don't even know how great you can be you don't even know how incredible the potential is inside of you that you can even expand that potential that's the bracha that we share with our children every friday night you don't know how amazing you are and how amazing you can be friendship
