welcome back to klm
the last class we had
i put a riddle on the table i offered a
million dollars because i didn't think
anyone would be able to answer it
i'm going to repeat the riddle of course
the riddle is known now but here's the
riddle
what do the following activities have in
common
spirits or omer or washing your hands
that's one chakras the morning service
kibuta of aim honoring your parents
and finally onig chavis
that that should be puzzling unless you
heard heard the uh
answer what do they have in common
so according to to fairies israel
they're all
easy mitzvahs and it says in percyavos
he's explaining paragraph it says
rats limits the kalaka maha morta you
should
run to a mitzvah kala
ferris israel understands kala means not
a minor mitzvah
what makes this minor okay but an easy
mitzvah
now i just the the reason it's a
very hard riddle is certain things are
obviously easy
right is washing your hands before you
say mow down a knee
in the morning or washing your hands to
eat just washing the hands is that hard
or easy it's easy
it's simple to do so that's one category
okay
let's jump the other end another one
obvious onig shabbas
why is owning chavez easy
it's so pleasurable right who doesn't
like to eat good food
and and drink a nice bottle of wine or
whatever you like
right so that's easy now the question is
and we're not going to delve into it
this week i'm going to kind of leave you
in a mystery
but the question is the morning davening
that's a long service especially if you
go to
the shoal i i bet if you took a poll of
teenagers
and asked them does any teenager in the
world
think that chakras is easy i doubt
they'll say yes
so chakras is easy in a certain sense
okay but i'm planning i've gotten thank
god a lot of feedback about these easy
mitzvahs so i'm planning an easy missile
series
and we're gonna discuss upcoming why is
chakras why is the morning service easy
okay then we have the other one honoring
your parents
does the talmud think honoring your
parents is easy
not at all you're right it's not it says
because
why we discuss a little you have such an
obligation to them they brought you into
existence
they cared for you so long et cetera et
cetera
so another mystery that we're going to
leave unsolved right now is
why is honoring your parents an easy
mitzvah okay
but that since we're doing the easy
mitzvah series we'll get to that later
but we've already discussed spirits of
omar and now we're going to focus on
onig chavis
and and learn from that now the uh it's
very funny
we're at klm we're building a website
and uh yeah i have some people helping
design it and come up with the right
framework so one of them one of the
designers says
he really he realized i'm doing an easy
mitzvah series he says
they're going to click that the most
right
and i learned from rabbi poston about
this idea called click
bait right so if if you're familiar with
the internet
and youtube and things like that so what
is click
bait they come up with a title that
is like a bait it entices you to
listen to what they have to say and it's
very the
the strategy clickbait is is is classic
i i mean i've seen one
things like this the simple trick
to get straight a's in university now if
you're in university
are you gonna click of course the simple
trick or how about this one
a five second hack to make a million
dollars on a daily basis
no you hear that right the so but the
thing about it is
i think we're suspicious of those things
too right you know
it sounds great and maybe it probably is
right exactly so click bait
on the one hand it's very clever it
draws you in
but you know we're kind of skeptics so
here's my question to you
easy mitzvahs are easy mitz's click
bait with all due respect for hashem
right in other words are they really
easy
right and are they like these simple
ways to make millions
or not right maybe there's something
underneath
these easy mitzvahs so the answer is
yes and no okay they really are
simple hacks to make millions
and on the other hand they're not at all
okay so that's what we're going to
discuss
uh and first let me just give you
we gave a class and there was a lot of
interest thank god
on spherusa omer and so let me just use
this
model of how it's easy and how
way maybe not uh
simultaneously okay so let's just take
um spherica omer
yeah the real one i want to focus on is
washing the hands but let's start with
spherus omer
okay what do you need to do it's
easy in the sense it's simple to do
meaning
you make a blessing and you count and as
long as you're listening to the one
leading the davening where you just ask
somebody what was yesterday
you know right how how difficult is that
right so since it's easy
um instruction number one is
run to do it and what does run mean
do it with enthusiasm and joy
right do it with semka right all you
have to do
my acronym uim up your mood
for how long does it take 20 seconds
right
for 20 seconds just do that with energy
and enthusiasm
and have and most importantly have in
mind the mitzvah serving hashem
simcha because you are if you're happy
and excited and enjoying it
then let's turn eternalize it
by having mine that i'm serving hashem
with simcha now i want to give the other
example that i just mentioned
washing your hands now washing your
hands
we don't necessarily calculate it that
it
is a mitzvah in itself meaning
when you wake up in the morning right so
you're washing your hands
to do what to say modernity right
or you come out of the restroom you're
washing your hands to make a blessing
right ashore yatzor and that's a dime or
you're washing your hands to have a meal
right so
our minds are thinking about the
blessing we're going to say or modeni
but you know what look what hashem does
the the actual pouring the water on your
hands is a mitzvah
right so number one have in mind that
i'm
doing a mitzvah and most importantly
right be do it basimka and have in mind
that i i'm serving with simply right so
i've been practicing this before i get
to the alma tells you diamond mow that
knee when i'm pouring the water in my
hands like
wow and here's here's here's what i've
been saying to hashem
i can't believe this is a mitzvah
unbelievable
right you hear this he he sanctifies
the mere washing of the hands and gives
us eternity for it
so easy mitzvahs are if you will click
bait
right do this mitzvah right
but do it as a mitzvah number one and
have in mind serving hashem basimka and
there's more we can have in mind
we'll discuss that by owning chavez okay
do you hear this
number one to run to an easy mitzvah
means
to express enthusiasm and
most importantly have kevana for what
you're doing
right that here this is a training
ground for serving hashem the
okay so that in that sense it really is
easy okay and it really is
millions and billions i mean to say
billions is is a
disgrace for what awaits us or
to to say um the level of bonding you
can achieve with hashem just from a
simple mitzvah is unbelievable
okay now there's a second
part that i said it's not
so easy in another dimension it is
right but it's not why
because since things are easy we are
prone to prac
to practice mindlessness
not mindfulness mindlessness right
see that's the same most people are
washing their hands not thinking
anything they're just thinking about the
next act they're not
present in the presence of hashem you
hear so
there's that danger there's a danger of
being robotic
etc okay so that's the other side
and for that we have to do some work
uh to make the easy mitzvah valuable
all right now we're ready to go to
onigshava so we said
the first type of easy is simple to do
like washing your hands or counting the
omer
right the other two mitzvahs chakras and
kibut off
we'll discuss another time but now let's
go to onigshabus
it's easy in the sense that it's a
pleasure to do
and this we want to understand the two
ways all we need to do here is master
two things right how to run to it
and then secondly how to be careful
of the pitfalls due to the fact that
it's easy
okay here we go
this is the first thing we do with
easy uh look
look at top but let's just run through
quickly again
uh the four types of easy right number
one we said it's quick and simple to do
we're going to use tonight in a
telesedime okay
number two you're accustomed to it like
chakras
number three it makes sense like
honoring your parents and number four
it's pleasurable like onigshavas okay
so what is the instruction of ben azam
piercus he says rox limits the color
run to these type of mitzvahs what does
run mean
what does run express it expresses
enthusiasm
simcha and energy right
now so let's let's let's take a look at
the mitzvah of nutilis udayam
you do it when you're going to say moda
ani you do it
when you're ready for davening and
you're going to make a blessing on the
tlc diet
that's another time you do it when
you're washing for bread
okay now the thing is this and i
i have garrison edelstein sweet to thank
for this because he
he kind of pointed this out you know
when i think of the midst of the tea as
a diamond i'm thinking of the bracha
and the kavanaugh for the bracha or
modaknee we know that modernity
is a spiritual workout okay but let's
just step back for a second
the mere act of pouring water on your
hands
is a mitzvah it's a mitt's thought
and boy boy is that an easy mitzvah okay
you may have to learn the number of
times but
it's not so hard correct easy schmeezy
right so what do you do with that
so um i i mentioned to you
anything that's easy and i hope you're
doing this with spirits of omar it's
like 20 seconds
uym up your mood and do it with joy
but don't just do it with joy look at
the thing i said below
perform with simcon energy and ham
him have in mind him
the cottage have in mind the mitzvah of
serving hashem
simka a great place to practice
serving hashem simka is when it's easy
okay so um how are you gonna use this
information
tomorrow morning uh when you're going to
wash your hands maybe you should get
some
uh get a sandwich to do this right
though washing your hands say a cottage
i'm doing this to fulfill the missile
washing my hands
as you commanded me and it i i can't
believe that i get to honor you
and give myself eternity from just doing
this little act
and i love serving you and i'm going to
do it
okay so that's easy number one we are
we're not going to talk about two and
three
because i'm planning with the help of
hashem visit hashem to give sharing
on those topics of easy okay but we did
spherus omer which is easy one so
serious omar and easy items
have in mind serving december and uim
but now let's go to onig shabbas
right ownik shabbas we want to do that
right and uh and again you could say
for sure it's going to be the sim card
right but what you want to do
is him right now we're going to have to
talk about implementation about
remembering this
this class making the commitment to use
this on shabbos
okay but let's just talk about this
onikshabas
you nee you should have in mind while
you're eating drink
i'm serving hashem okay i don't mind the
mitzvah bonus shabbos of course
and then also serving hashem
right so that that that's what you
should have in mind
so um i i'm gonna
yeah let's discuss this right now okay
here's what i suggest with onigshabus is
as follows um um
you want to here i i really um
encourage everybody to try to do this
this shabbos right
as you're eating i i wrote a script for
you maybe
i'll post this okay but here's what i
suggest
you declare sometime while you're eating
and drinking and having fine wine or
whatever you enjoy
right this is the this i thought you
could say to hashem or feel to hashem
okay hashem i can't even believe that
this is a mitzvah
you must really love me and i love you
back
as we discussed okay see if you can make
that declaration
so the first aspect to mrs being
easy is run meaning do them the
uh with simple enthusiasm but there's
another dimension to easy mitzvos let me
uh uh come back to you for a second
okay all right so by the way
you know you can use this fact of
being basimka uh as a training ground
that with if you get your skills and
your
energy and your enthusiasm up on these
easy to do's
then when you get to harder mitzvahs
you're gonna it can it can be awakened
in you so that's that's section number
one of easy mitzvas
but now ben aza according to paris
israel
is pointing out there's danger with easy
misfits
there are pitfalls to easy mitzvos
okay and uh so remember i asked you up
front
is hashem doing clickbait that's for
real meaning
five minute hacks and you get millions
of dollars a day
yes in that in the sense we thought as
long as you do two things you have in
mind that you're doing a mitzvah
and you do it basimka yes it's easy in
that sense
but no there's another depth to this
to this mishna and to ben azai according
to ferris israel there's another
whole other dimension he's
telling you be careful because
since they're easy you're you're
prone to pitfalls and you won't
have klm you won't have proper kevana
and the terrace rail said a beautiful
thing
we mentioned less than he's saying
sanctify your intentions
right but now we need to see what we're
up against with these mitzvahs
there are pitfalls let's take a look
okay okay i'm back rabbi michael
yes okay great so here we go the next
thing is the pitfalls i'm just getting
this
here
um one second
here oh okay i went wrong way okay
no we're not done yet here we are
okay thanks to my wife okay look at this
these are the four categories again one
quick and simple like matthias says i am
two accustomed to it
like chakras three it makes sense like
honoring your parents and four
uh it's pleasurable like one chavez
let's look at the pitfalls with each of
these
when it's quick and simple you're prone
to
mindlessness right the the opposite of
what's so popular right now mindfulness
mindlessness right how many people
are thinking that they're doing a covet
shamayim they're glorifying the heavens
when their hands
are having water poured on them right
there
it's there's a lot we're doing that we
can do it
mindlessly so that's the trap the
pitfall
of easy to do is out of mind
it's it's mindless okay um
now let's just go through the pitfalls
and then we'll go back to the fixes
okay easy number two when you're
accustomed to it
i i know everybody um
you know this relates to charles
question everybody knows
that when you're accustomed to do
something when it's a habit
it becomes it becomes mechanical and it
becomes a rote
rote is not a a positive thing
uh uh when it comes to mitzvos i don't
want to even scare you we'll talk about
when we get there
third uh one the problem of misses that
makes sense
right like of course you're gonna uh
prepare food for your kids or help them
with your homework of course you're
going to do that so you're going to do
it for the wrong reason
just because it makes sense to you to do
it right
so that's a pitfall where the more it
makes sense the more you're doing it
automatically you know someone gives you
something to say thank you
do you know when you express cars at all
you're doing a mitzvah derice of walking
in god's ways
right you hear this there's so many
things we do
that we do automatically because they
make sense and therefore
he's not there cottage broke was not in
the picture
okay that's the pitfall of easy number
three
finally easy number four which is
tonight's topic
pleasurable right so what's the problem
with
a mitzvah that's pleasurable i think
you'll agree with me
we become self-focused right
right and then when you're focused on
yourself
it's no the mitzvah is not new
i think you i think you understand and
agree okay
so i'm only again i'm only going to
discuss
easy one and easy four and easy four is
our main focus but easy one
uh the problem of the telescoding
of the omer let's take we we talked
about the omer last week
a blessing and counting right so you can
do it mindlessly you could just
do that and look we mentioned just
have in mind that mesosphere is
something but you can do it mindlessly
so
what is the fix look below think and
feel the mitzvah
right and that's what we're trying to do
in these classes and that's what we
tried to do last time
we said there's such rich rich
content in the midst of serious omer
you're you're you're pining for the base
of mgdosh
you're um trying to awaken the
incredible moments of horcini
you're remembering you're strengthening
your muna by remembering the mind right
so you're thinking about and you're
feeling okay
again here let's go to the nutila sedan
right
you know what one of the times is you're
you're washing uh you're washing your
hands
because you're like a coin serving in
the base of migush
there's a there is some say there's a
mitzvah to think i'm a servant
serving the the the creator of the world
right
so if you think if you think when you're
washing your hands that way
or here how about this uh when you wash
hands for bread
you're really helping craig cowan and
other koa neem
prepare for when they enter the base of
mig dash so they were careful with truma
so you're doing a you're tr you're doing
a uh
um a kindness to uh to the koa name
and et cetera and you're sanctifying
yourself okay you get the idea
is when the mitzvah is super easy to do
you need to think and feel into the
mitzvah okay
let's go to our premiere tonight
onigshavas so easy four is
is pleasurable the danger self-focus
the fix attachment hashem to vegas so
we're going to discuss
this now okay allow me to i want to come
see you again for the moment
okay let's start with this
um uh if mrs glass from south
africa now in jerusalem here's this site
i first heard this from your son
um it's a true story about the cutscere
rebbe
so the cutscore uh was invited by one of
his town meet him for shabbos he spent
the whole shabbos for him
so this talmud is obviously so excited
what an honor that cutsco rebbe
is spending shabbos with him so on lel
shabas
you know serving he serves him food the
custard is eating
and he like overhears he's not saying
it's so loudly but the cuts are saying
the glow that's me the bow that's me
um yeah he's eating the bow that's me
right
so if i don't know how your hebrew is
but look vow that's me
saying in my honor in my honor as he's
eating the food
in my honor shabbos day
the speed like saying what what is going
on here
the rebbe is saying i'm doing this for
my own the rebbe's own honor
third meal is no different okay so the
dominant finally on mozi shops gets
enough courage
to ask israeli what was going on and so
the
you know the the rebbe mccutz was known
for being an ish emmis
right so he says look
uh everyone else says the bow choppers
beau chavez you know they're eating this
delicious uh won't say fish for the
sense of
where the delicious steak right the
south african steak
et cetera that the bone chop is the pho
so the cuts are saying i got to be
honest
you know i'm not you know on his level i
i gotta be honest i'm doing this for
myself this is so
delicious you know it's me that's
i'm eating for me and and i'm telling
you i announced
having mine owning chavez i've announced
it many contexts and is that
it is so you people are so
myself include so immersed in the eating
process and so
completely animalistic you know what i'm
saying
you can just get really caught up in the
pleasure right so the glow that's me
now i had to tell you
that according to the raw we have to
move
past the kavod's meat because he says
like this
you know where's the source of the
mitzvah of onakshabas
it comes from yashaya hanavi and as
we've learned in klm
when the source of the mithra comes from
the torah shivaksa
from a prophet it is not a full dorisa
like
if it was in the five books of the torah
however
it is almost a dorisa and it's a
very strong abundant it requires kavanah
okay by the way you know owning shabbos
is is is also fulfilled by lighting the
candles
okay that's cover chop it's also onyx
shop it's it brings pleasure
so uh whoever lights the candles in the
home should have in mind the mitzvah
medievary kabbalah of onigshapus but
let's go back to this
so the vilna gohan brings a proof from
yashaya navi that you know yashaya
the ramachan talks about the incredible
hashem right that there are the ultimate
pleasure will be to rejoice in hashem
the world to come
you sh it comes from the the the verses
about owning shabbos okay in in local
context
the wrong hall extends it but not only
that
that it talks about that but it talks
about a nakhola
an inheritance and the gemara
understands an inheritance without
borders
in other words you can get different
experiences
in the world to come but some are just
beyond imagination right unbelievable
unbelievable aspects of eternity
so what the cross says is he he proves
it from the verses
that you have to do uh onigshabus
for hashem for shabbos right it has to
be in other words
onachavas has to be the shema okay
it has to be for the sake of rejoicing
in the shabbos not for the sake of one's
own rejoicing
okay hashem's happy with your rejoicing
don't get me wrong
but for the full dimension it has to be
for the sake of owning shabbos
okay good now the question is
how do how do we do that right how do
we make sure and and let's be honest
it's not as simple we know eating is
intoxicating right not just drinking
isn't that eating is intoxicating
pleasure is intoxicating
it is so it is not easy to be
present in the presence of hashem when
you're eating
okay on shabbos now to tell you truth
this class is part one because onnik
shabbas
the strategies that exist there's a few
and i want to make sure we have all
these tools in our tool test
so you know by the way i want to point
this out
another challenge you know here's
another riddle for you
okay who's a guest who
who um comes every shabbos
and there are absolutely horrible guests
yet you have them over for every shabbos
and yet there's this other guest who's
so incredible
so amazing what a the guess who would
dream of having
and you barely pay attention to him
right i
i think you know right the yatahara is
always invited
and he gets us preoccupied in ourselves
right so he's a terrible guest to have
on chavez
whereas a cottage broke right you know
the
we're going to talk more about it but
he's the guest that you should really be
focused on
at the table all right so let's discuss
how to
do this okay um i mentioned this
today we're gonna have a shorter
workshop i'm just want to get these
principles out like st
phase one of owning chavez so uh
vigor miller has an incredible insight
into the gemara
shabbos he says like this uh anyone if
the kumar says
anyone who uh has three meals on
shabbos he's safe from the worst
suffering
the the then of the judgment of gehennam
he spared from the birth pangs of the
mashiach the the
the difficult times in uh when mashiach
comes
and also the war of gogan magog the the
negatives
right horrible things and you just have
three meals in shabbos you're set to go
no gehenna right so reverend miller says
pay attention to the gemara's words it
doesn't say ko
oh hell anyone who eats three meals in
shabbos
is spared these things he says koha
makayam
anyone fulfills three meals fulfills
says rabbi miller
is you fulfill the purpose of the meal
and how do you do that
by integrating the messages of shabbos
he says
and he himself says he says you know
most people in chaves are chewing
themselves into a stupor they're chewing
into the stupor
but what we should be doing is chewing
on the deep ideas of shabbos
while we eat you know set it up both
ways
it can just it can just get you drunk on
yourself
or food and drink
is a way to integrate you know that's
why kiddish is with wine
and we put eating and drinking it can
really help you integrate the
the deep messages without having to have
suffering
because rabbit mother says suffering
teaches us the key messages
about the world in a kardash so he's
saying hashem is offering us a much
better
option onigshabus if you integrate the
messages of
shabbos you'll be spared all those
things because you got the message
and you integrated it and you
internalized it and you can
eternalize it okay good so that's what
we want to do so
message number one and that's what we're
gonna finish with tonight
is what's the first thing you should be
thinking
chewing on while you're eating and
drinking and fulfilling the mitzvah of
owning chops
again i remind you since it's easy
as a pleasure have in mind the mitzvah
if it becomes clickbait
if you have in mind on each other's and
secondly have in mind simcha
and declaration you know how amazed you
are that this is actually a mitzvah
that was part number one now the pitfall
we said is self-focus
how what do we do how do we get out of
self-focus
we attach our thoughts and feelings to
hashem to vegas
but there's a special to vegas on
onikshabas which
is to zero in on the messages that
hashem's trying to convey about shabbos
okay that's the that's what we're up to
right now
okay so again let's call on rabbi miller
to set this up
you have a kid uh who uh the mother
wants to send him
to the store and he's a freaking helpful
kid we won't
explain the causes he's a forgetful kid
so the mother wants to make sure
that um he checks the list and gets the
milk in particular
so she ties a string on his finger
okay right and and then she sends in the
score with the list and you hope that
works now let's go over to shabbos
a fascinating riddle again bradley
miller says
let's take the the shabbos
eating drinking right so that's
that's one song
[Music]
compare it to ms morsher leo meshabas
that we
recite right what has more to do with
shabbos
or mismo shirley on the shabbos if you
are honest
unless you've thought about this deeply
if you're honest
the only mention of shabbos is the first
line
miss shirley omishabus right
yomze mahubad is filled with shabba
shabba shabbas khabib shabbat
shabbas et cetera et cetera so robin
moore says guess what
ms moore shirley omishabus is more
focused on chavez than the other so
let's go back to the boy
the boy has a string on his finger it's
supposed to rhyme
to look at the list and get the milk
okay so the boy
knows that this string is very important
right
because if he doesn't have the string on
his finger he's going to forget
everything
so he's a folk you go on the string
string he goes in the store and comes
back
he forgot the milk why
because he was like the whole times
focusing on the string but not what the
string was pointing towards
okay what's the nimshaw was the message
here
yongsan is saying
honor the shabbos would drink enjoy and
shabbos is important right but it's not
telling you
the essence of shabbos why shabbos is
important
for that you need to go to miss morshir
leo mahashavas
right because there it's saying
it's good to thank hashem and rejoice
in the creation in other words the the
the miss marshall of shabbos the whole
first section
is about what shabbos is about
that's what you should be focusing on
that's what you should be
chewing on when you're chewing on the
food is
the mice abrasions that the world came
into creation from no
nothing now who who were exemplars
and having such a type of shabbos
guess who avraham and yitzhak
okay in the minha prayer on shabbos we
say
avraham ya gal yitzhak your
name right talking about shabbos it says
abraham would rejoice gila arena
gila he would ya gail he rejoiced
and yitzhak your name he would
sing joyfully about the mice braces
about
shabbos you hear they were in a state of
ecstasy because hashem created the world
yeshma island
right the mice abrasions the creation is
beyond deep and beyond wise and
beautiful and
amazing and kind we could have so much
to make us
if we focus on mice braces right
celebrating so if you will and this is
where i'm gonna uh
close right now the way to the step
number one
to avoid the pitfall of self-focus
with onak shabbos step number one
is to focus on hashem and what he did
to celebrate if you will to show
celebrate the ultimate accomplishment
a sims accomplishment of creating the
world
and creating this such a magnificent
place for us right
you know i was thinking of like a muscle
for us too
is um and it fits really well with the
gracious rabba
um you know that the gracious rabba
talks about shakianu
about a person who built a home he built
a lavish home
and then he makes a shakiano what's the
lavish home the mice are gracious
right so you know after uh
many years on building making a building
right or
like a beautiful building uh or a home
whatever
so you have a hanukkah tobias or you
have a dinner
right you have a banquet and a dinner
right this dinner banquet right
so what are you doing you're you're in
the dinner banquet you're honoring
the one who let's say made this building
possible
right so that's what we're doing that's
that's real owning child is you're
delighting in the
shabbos in the mice abrasives right it's
a dinner banquet for hashem
he's the guest you really want to pay
attention to at the table
okay so that's
step number one in dealing with the easy
mitzvah
because it's pleasurable right so just
one more
review and we'll stop we have five
minutes just to discuss if you'd like
but um again mitzvahs that are easy
should be done with joy and enthusiasm
and kavanaugh for
the mitzvah itself and for serving
hashem
phase one phase two misses that are easy
have their pitfalls
and we therefore have to figure out what
are we going to do about it
so when it comes for you example spherus
omer
right you could just make you could just
say the blessing quickly
and count and you're done but that's
doing it
with mindlessness that's practicing
mindlessness
so here so you think and feel into the
mitzvah by
learning more about it here by owning
shabbos the problem is being coming
intoxicated with yourself
and the and the and the food et cetera
so the way out of that
is to to to to broaden this and say
hey owning shabbos i'm i'm i'm doing
this
to celebrate hashem's accomplishment i
have two other strategies that will come
next time
okay let me just uh stop share
uh okay have i stopped sharing rabbi
michael
yes yeah yeah okay great okay so
uh so um that's it for now
i just want to encourage people uh
any questions about either spherus homer
or onex
how do we relate to the cut scope is i
mean like we shouldn't even attempt at
them i mean obviously i don't know
no no okay no i wouldn't want to say
that he was uh
yeah so i think he was being at you look
he was teaching
in my this is my humble opinion okay he
was teaching
that let's be honest you know the the
first step
uh the first step is to get a kind of
be honest about where we're holding
right so if we say covered shovels
mechanically but we're really just
lavishing our taste buds we have to
realize that's what we're starting but
but for sure i'm sure that he would say
that
and then my humble opinion i'm sure he
would shoot his kavanagh to the
heavens you know but he wanted to teach
the talmud that's my humble opinion you
hear it
so we just be honest but but rabbi
michael
if we really make a commitment right
you know i like yaakov dickman's thing
of
he he printed out a modeni and he puts
it by his bed you know
parrots wrote in his sitter
you know shaol teaches people the idea
so
what i'm saying is if we make a
commitment and we know what where we're
holding originally but let's i would be
delighted for you all to tell me that
you either you said to hashem
uh you know hashem i can't believe this
is a mitzvah boom that's that's like
really
do you hear what i'm saying rabbit
michael i think we can do it
i do i do have it thanks okay
rabbi wait pray yes so
i i love the idea of
shabbos as a sort of a banquet of
tribute to hashem
right as you said that you know some so
often banquets are fundraisers
and and and i'm thinking that you know
we're really raising funds for ourselves
we're making money
right beautiful but but but you know
don't don't you're not supposed to you
know right we're
so how do we balance that okay okay
beautiful
yeah i mean first of all well i think we
should take charles insight and say like
this
you know most fundraiser right rising
banquets are fundraising for the
the place right uh for the person who
they're honoring et cetera yet so here
hashem
is uh has a bank banquet and he's really
raising funds for us that's incredible
so let me ask anybody can answer
what mitzvah when you think about that
what mitzvah can you
fulfill
when you think about that point perhaps
i think you can love you can love hashem
for giving you the incredible benefit of
you know exactly and praising him
you're you know it's like you know it's
like you know
you know i thank you no i thank you i
thank you i thank you
right exactly exactly
exactly right isn't it incredible
we're making we're celebrating and we're
the ones going to get all the
the raise the million dollars yeah it's
it's beautiful
and by the way but um it's also an
act of years hashem to appreciate and
opposition to appreciate hashem gives us
reward we don't have to be
self-centered about it
very good how spirits are over going
with people
uh let me just tell you a story uh you
know that beautiful uh
poster and the artist uh approved us
sharing it
so we made a hebrew version uh and i put
it in the elevator
of our apartment building and uh so
the uh i've had three
people in a row ask me the same question
which was the the surprise in the class
last week which is
um we understand zechariah mgdosh
right that that serious humor is
yearning for the mig dash we understand
this
uh mom at harcina according to the
savior but
how is it so it was beautiful i got the
schmooze with the uh
with the neighbors but uh but okay so
try to keep that going a bit uh i'm
gonna try to also send you
some physics for the key serious omer is
going
for a few more weeks right um but now we
have you owning shabbos on the table
and again if anybody has suggestions of
how we can
make sure we carl uh tishler brought
this up you know
we need to work on strategies to
um to remind ourselves in the moment
of these precious uh mitzvahs right so
and i'm gonna believe they're trying to
send some error shots i would love for
people to
send send their reminders rabbi michael
you can have a picture of your putting
your watch on the other
on the other wrist okay everybody uh
thanks very much for attending
okay
[Music]
beautiful thank you welcome welcome sure
