WATCH: Alan Simon, the Mayor of Spring Valley, speaks with Rockland Daily on election day 2025.

your concern about the uh election today? >> I don't really have a concern. It is a free open election. Candidates have, you know, are there. There is for the most part Democrat and Republican and uh may the best person for this village win. >> Did you vote it already or not yet? >> Not yet. You planning to vote? >> I will on the Yes, I will. On my way home. >> Thank you, Mr. Mayor. >> Are you appointed last week an individual to be the village judge? Two of the positions were uh being filled and then the third judge unfortunately passed away. That's uh Judge Vincent Alfieri. He was a very nice man, a very kindhearted man and a very decent human being. And uh it's maybe a good time to thank him for his service to the village of Spring Valley. Uh there is a Democrat and a Republican. Uh the Republican young man Michael Kaplau has 10 years experience in the criminal system and has done landlord tenant work and that's essentially what the job entails. Uh the uh young lady, her career has been geared to the family court and it's not what it entails. I have no idea how well she'd be able to adapt to the system. And uh quite frankly uh in appointing people one must judge by the past and the past is what somebody's been trained to do. Uh and being trained to do something for 10 years means that they have the capacity to do that.
