Israel can't help herself. She keeps
turning to the superpowers. She keeps
looking for a Pharaoh to negotiate with,
a mighty empire to guarantee her
security. Israel is relying almost
entirely right now on President Donald
Trump and the powers of Washington DC.
They're forming this international board
of peace and an international solution
to manage the very land that Hashem
brought the Israelites into, the
promised land promised to Abraham. And
it's almost poetic and tragic that the
same strip of land that God said we
weren't ready to walk through is the
same strip of land that we keep
struggling with. Gaza was always the
test. And Gaza really sits on the border
between Israel's destiny and Israel's
political strategy. And the question
never changes. Will we be a nation that
stands on its own under God? Or will we
always be looking back to Egypt for
help? And obviously relying on nations,
that's not going to work. That's not
good for Israel. It's not going to work
for the for the world. Israel needs at
some point to make a clean break. Drop
the mic and turn away from the world and
do what's right. The world will follow
just like the servants of Pharaoh
followed. And so we have the blueprint
instead of looking to Egypt or relying
on the superpower or posture ourselves
in a way that the nations it's like
before the Israelites left we see the
right balance and relationship between
Israel and the nations. Look at what
Pharaoh says in Exodus 12:es 31 and 32.
Then he called for Moses and Aaron by
night and said, "Rise, go out from among
my people, both you and the children of
Israel, and go serve the Lord as you
have said, and also take your flocks and
your herds as you have said, and be
gone,
and bless me also."
After all the plagues and the revelation
that God is the master of the universe,
Pharaoh asks to be blessed. He didn't
just acknowledge God as the power and
authority. He recognized that Hashem is
the source of blessing in the world. He
requests for Moses to pray for him that
God will bless him. That's the task.
That's the mission to know that we are
called to be a blessing for the world
and that God's blessing comes through
Israel. That's our destiny. It's to be a
blessing to all families of the earth.
And for that, we have to stand alone. We
need to separate ourselves from the
nations. And although it would be easy
to work things out in the short term
trying to navigate between world powers
and Prime Minister Netanyahu, he's a
genius. He's able to work it out with
Putin and work it out with Trump.
At some point though, diplomacy can only
bring you so far. Israel has to stand
alone and set an example for the world.
And in that way, Israel will bless the
world.
Bless the pharaohs of the world and the
nations of the world. And like
everything in the Torah, there's a
message for us on a national level and a
message for each of us on a personal
level. You know, sometimes we ask
ourselves, why did it take us so long?
Why this ciruitous route? Why did I have
to go through all that ordeal and not
just going directly to my destination
right through the land of the
Philistines? It's because we are being
molded into something greater,
more refined. We're being created
instead of relying on others. The long
journey is building us and making us
into the person that other people can
rely on. a person who will be a blessing
to all of his loved ones and the ones
around him.
