Your father told me to find you before he passed away. I could never find he left you a billion dollars. What? Me? I spent my whole life with a like a bum and I was a billionaire. That's what it's like when someone's going to say, "You know what you had? Why were you walking around the streets with your shopping cart? Why weren't you learning for hours? You know what? Hashem left you. He left you trillions. It was a piece of him inside of you. What are you doing? No, it's not for me. I can't. I I don't have You had it. You have endless potential. And we don't want to squander it. Hashem created us with a mission with a very unique purpose and we have to toil. Adam man is created to toil. I was listening to another class. Rabbi asked a very interesting question. He said, "We find that people who are extremely wealthy, they have more than enough money to last them 20 lifetimes and their children and their grandchildren. So why are they working so hard? Why are they waking up the same time going putting in the same hours in the day? What are they doing it for? What do they need the money for? They have it. Why don't they go relax? Why don't they go chill out. The rabbi said something very powerful, very insightful. He said, "You know why? Because it's boring. How long could just sit by a pool and sit on the beach? There's nothing to do. You're going to kill yourself." You know what they love about work, about what they do? They love making another million dollars and making another sale and conquering another business deal and selling another building. They get more pleasure out of the toil and the efforts than they could ever get by relaxing by a pool. and what people dream of their whole life. Oh, I can't wait till I have enough money till I could just buy a new house on the on the ocean and and and what what are you going to do? You try to do it for 2 weeks, 3 weeks, four weeks. You go out of your mind. We're created to toil. And you only feel good about yourself when you're toiling, when you're working. fortunate is the man who takes his toil in Torah. Hashem gave us enough to have a sip in Torah for the next trillion years. How much Torah there is to be learned. How many mitzvot we could feel accomplished every day in Torah. So why aren't we doing it enough? Because everybody in some respect is going to regret. Our rabbis are telling us, "You're going to regret. I could have done more. I could have done more. Why didn't you?" Perhaps we don't appreciate the value of what we're doing. We don't realize the value, the ripple effects of our deeds. how farreaching they are. There's a famous midrash. The midrash says, "Thank you. We don't know how farreaching every deed is. We don't know how Hashem is setting us up. It looks like, oh, just this one just happened to pass by me now. Oh, the one who didn't invite me to his party. Yeah, he just happens to be here right in front of my face. Nothing just happens to be your setup. It's a setup. Every moment is set up.
