[Music] Hello everyone and welcome back to Inside Arts Scroll where the books you read and the people who write them come to life. Today I am privileged to be joined by Rabmoi Burkowitz in honor of the release of the brand new biography about the ribba. Thank you for coming out to art school. My I'm welcome for that. It's my pleasure. It's a pleasure to have you here and I know it's a unique to have you here because you knew the ribbon in a very very personal way. Uh and tell me if I'm wrong but I think you knew him in a way that maybe many people didn't know. Yeah. Uh who wrote this book did a magnificent job as he always does painting a picture for us who didn't know the so that we could gain an appreciation for who he was. But today having the to sit with you, we want to get your perspective on who the Reb was, what he meant to you, and maybe certain perspectives that you have of the Reba that other people didn't have. So again, thank you for being here. Um, tell me a little about yourself just as a background before we get into how you got to know the reba. Where you where you from? I come from Bora Park. I grew up in New York, New York City. My father actually was named and he was a town of the green belt and we and also my father took us to many many sadikim before the arrived to America. So I got to know many many Mhm. It was a different time. Now you grew up in Barak. Where did you learn as a I learned I learned in I learned to to um to America to Bora Park. I learned in Bab. Mhm. The whole story and I was like, "Oh my gosh." This is he's telling the story to be told. Unbelievable. Unbelievable. I'm telling you. I was like, "Is that what led to writing this book when you Yo, I no he writes anyway. I just gave him a little I told him if you're printing the book, whatever put in that that story with Rabbi Gman." Right. Right. Right. He put it into the book and he saw he was listening and I had other story rabbi g myself he came to the rebark the reb was by him all shabas and mig he came from and the rebels till shabasik he was already m shabas the reb was able to go in shabas till 12:00 m shabas and we had me and the rebel were learning perkus together and rabbi grman arrived and the minute he arrived was a young he told all of us we had a few people at the 15th time in the we have to get up that's went rise up he made us all rise up is here that's what he called it yeah yeah he liked me said every was like interesting yeah the basic stuff he bas it on the everything there. I was not able to you was not ready and was not able and then they went to the mik had these gods to ask him say he didn't want to say he didn't feel good he said that he has was a big cold and he used to very often happen by him such a thing is in this time I was masha with him and it's happened by me once You know that's he say he was saying that he saw such yeah interesting. Yeah. Yeah. Now I know we we could we could talk for for quite a while but time is running out. Yeah. I can give you one story for time running out. I can sit a whole night as a neighbor. And uh we we spoke for hours because you're and as you've mentioned to me in our own conversations that besides for the ribbon you were to be with with many other maybe we'll have you back another time to talk uh to talk about those but yeah you wanted to say a story what story I wanted to tell you is I going to tell you asked me how's the safer going how people like it is I said to I answered you. We say cried very much when he said that night. Mhm. And he was domining that night once. Another thing I before we finish is I wanted to say tonight is we have now it's Thursday after this already Thursday night. We can use that.
