IDF Lieutenant: “hostage deal is not good for Israel.”

I have here with us Lieutenant Colonel Jacobs of the IDF of the Israel Defense Forces thank you for being with us today I wanted to ask you some questions about the hostage deal and about the ceasefire that is going into effect now and us as civilians have almost no understanding of what's really going on and I wanted to ask you somebody on the inside somebody that's living in Israel right now what your thoughts are on the situation so as you know in the past year and almost a half uh we have hostages that were kidnapped uh from their homes and for the bases into Gaza and they're living in the most difficult conditions in the past uh too long year and almost a half um this is a very big moral conflict we have now with the hostages there's what's right to do and what we want to do what's right to do is to continue the fight the battle and the war inside Gaza until theas would would just want to give us AES because of the pressure of the army and what we want to do is to get the hostages today tonight back home to their homes um this is a bad deal what's going on now with the security of Israel because if we get back 33 hostages only 33 out of the 98 we have uh it's actually sentenced ing the rest could be to death uh we don't know exactly who's alive who's who's not alive we just know that if we give back or if we release one almost 2,000 terrorists from our jails they're going to take it as a victory and as we have in we have uh um a lot of uh um information that these guys are going to kill more than one and more than 10 and more than 20 citizens or soldiers when they go back to doing what to do like terrorism so when we give back when we release these H these uh terrorists from the jails they're going to do more damage and than releasing the hostages not to talk about the soldiers that died in the past you know um month two three half a year a year um with all the projects we have and all the war missions we have inside Gaza that we're going to retreat and do as if nothing happened so if it is in fact a bad deal then why is Israel accepting it why is it what if it is in fact a bad deal then why is Israel accepting the deal first of all we have the pressure from Trump and for the American uh government now before like the replacement which with Biden and uh blinkin and the pressure of the all the ammunition all the support the Americans are giving us to do this uh deal and listen we want these people back we want our hostages back so it's a terrible deal and some people say and I listen I also had a debate with myself what to do with this I know that like I said it's right and what we want to do um but uh we want these people back want the girls the soldiers you want the babies B family want to back to their homes I don't want to be like you know the prime minister of Israel now to decide this decision it's very hard decision to decide but um that's why I want this deal because it's a terrible deal it's a very very bad deal with all the you know what's going on in the West Bank and all what's going on in the Udan Chon in the north and everything we know that it's going to do more damage and uh that's why is want to do it because for a year and four or five months the pressure of the hostage families and the world is working what pressure first of all why is Trump applying pressure he's not even in office yet and officially Biden is taking this as a win under his belt so what what benefit does Trump have to apply pressure right now I agree 100% when he said that uh if he goes into Power until Monday right and the hostage are not back he's going to give like a big hell to the Kamas right meanwhile he's giving hell to us this bad deal is is his pressure and Biden's pressure and we're gonna we're gonna have a lot of damage from this deal so I agree that the person who s had the decisions is not Trump and not Biden is our our prime minister BBE and the problem is the high command in Israel and I can say this a lot of people in Israel are thinking this and a lot of middle command like generals and Colonels are saying we supposed to do XYZ we're supposed to this force and use our our tactics but the high command and the ministry of Defense are doing much much less and not as we're supposed to do to finish up the Kamas the worst worst thing is happening now in Gaza is all the humanitarian Aid that's going on every day tons of tons of T of of food and also a lot of illegal things that's going inside and a lot they're actually smuggling all kind of like drones and all kind of cameras and also guns and cigarettes and illegal food that they have to sell and to get money we're actually funding our own enemy and that's howas is getting stronger and Powerful more powerful and they have a privilege on us in instead of us choking their their necks and saying give us back our host m is we're giving them everything that we have no you know no power in them that's a problem wow wow and by the way my friends came back from Gaza a few days ago and they're also like a middle command so we know sort of where the hostages are but we can't go inside to those refugee camps because they're full of Kamas terrorist and human human Shields if we come close they start shooting into the sky and say we're going to shoot hostages and also their own neighbors if you come close so we have a problem we want to get our hostages back and the soldiers back and everything but we can't if we give a lot of pressure to these people maybe yes but we're not doing enough pressure you know I saw a video of the labbi screaming he was so angry he he was screaming holding the the tablecloth where he was sitting screaming that this redeeming hostages for exorbitant prices like they're doing which is extortion is the equivalent of spitting in the face of the Israeli citizens and it's so dangerous that we saw so many miracles throughout this entire uh War and now at the final moment to give everything up makes no sense whatsoever it makes no sense I agree 100% And the difference between Israeli Army and other armies in the world that we have the Jewish spirit this Spirit we have theama they have the soldiers have are amazing and they want to go on continue this until we finish with the war my guys are going back the fourth time the fifth time into Gaza or into Lebanon into West Bank or whatever they'll leave the families leave everything leave work just to fight again this war to our independence War because we know it's the bright thing to do his spirit is amazing they're going again and again and again to finish up this war and like you said Hashem we have also God's help which is a big differ big difference in everything and we have to win this war at the end and not have a ceasefire and not you know to stop it in the middle we know what happened when we gave back one soldier in 2011 Gil Shalit with 1,027 hostages or terrorists we give him back for one soldier of ours that 1,27 we had we gave back y sinir we gave back think people who killed more than 30 to 40 soldiers and citizens in this street trade so we know it's not a good we know it's not not one soldier and that's only 1,27 guys you know in Hala in Jewish law the concept of redeeming a captive is called p p I'm sure you've heard of it before and you're it's a Mitzvah it's a commandment to get back hostages but only at a fair market value one for one one for two one for three but one for 50 one for 70 one for 200 is completely against Torah completely and it's a problem it's a problem because we're the Jewish nation and the Jewish nation has to fight Wars like a Jewish Nation right and unfort unfortunately we're we're allowing our compassion to lead instead of our our minds to lead again it's easy for me to say thank God nobody that I know is a is a hostage so it's easy for me to say but you also we also have to think of the greater good of of of the Jewish people here's a question for you what is the sentiment of the of the Israeli population right now are they happy are they angry is it mixed is it somber is it joyous what's the what's the feeling right now in Israel so uh it took me two hours to get home from work from Jerusalem today because of uh the a group of people blocked the entrance of Jerusalem demonstrating against the deal these are a forum of V it's called of families who lost their their their sons and daughters in this war and they are demonstrating not to give back not to do what what their price they paid for their their families and their dear people K were killed in the price of this deal but if you go to T Aviv and you go demon over there you'll see the opposite do everything you can give back everything do everything you can just to give bring back the hostages listen Israel big do what's funny about it is Jerusalem represents the direction of Torah and Hashem and religion and Tel Aviv represents the opposite secular thinking it's funny it's it's it's symbolic right listen the majority of Israelis I just saw like a survey did in news um they want the hostages back of course depends if you are with the Coalition or the opposition in the in the government if you think right or leftwing more the leftwing want the hes back no matter what and more the right-wing say not in every price this price we're paying is too big price to pay also I believe that and I know for a fact if we got by the way I say to the my friend who's a member of the knesset over here uh he said listen if they're giving back all the 33 or some dead so so give them also terrorist that dead terrorist back if they're giving us part part Dead part alive let's give them also same thing with Terrace part Dead part alive don't give them names just so they're not giving El names we have to get either all of them back in once all the 98 hostages at once then I will agree for a big price but then we get him back we'll finish up the Hamas we'll go in strong all tanks Air Force infantry and finish off the job not do a half job like you're doing now but what you're saying is you there's more than one way to get the hostages back you could go in by choking off their supply lines you could go in by choking cutting them off at the feet right and that's the way to tr that's the way to properly get them by force instead of capitulating that's what you're that's what you said before no I think when you said the spirit of Amel with rabi we have to be strong we have to show the Nations we're strong we have a big strong Spirit and the way to do it is to be a powerful Army and a powerful people and you come inside strongly they'll respect that Force and they'll give up but if you come like you know you know we'll come soft and then give you humanitarian Aid and give him this and give him that and listen to the pressure of the United Nations was always against us no matter what we'll do and the ha trials and the and the American Army nowadays American uh government sorry no matter what we'll do they're not going to be with with Israel so we have to always do what's good for us and not care what people think about this I think
