how to connect with your child I'm going to say something very bluntly which is children's lives are boring they have trivial little issues and they come to you and they say oh the teacher took away the ball at recess and they want to tell you all about it we're thinking that's your biggest problem in life if only this was the worst thing that I had going on right now and we tend to Discount whatever it is that they're going through but here's what I explain to you for us what they're going through right now is Trivial but not for them because it's the first time they're going through it and they're learning how to go through it and when they learn the skill of how to deal with these small things then they will know how to go through the big things so if you don't take interest in your child's life when they come to you to tell you about the little things that are going on in their class and in their neighborhood games and whatever it is that seem so trivial but if you don't take an interest in that and let them talk to you and be their guide then you're not going to be able to be their guide when they're going through the big things
