In Parashat Vayikra, we discover something powerful: God doesn’t leave us guessing. He gives us a pathway—a system for building real connection. Because love isn’t just a feeling… it’s a way of living. When the Mishkan was completed, everything changed. God was no longer distant—He was dwelling among us, calling to us from within. And He’s still calling.

How does a finite broken human being
draw close to an infinite perfect God?
He doesn't say, "Figure it out." He
doesn't say, "There is no coming close
to me. You're just too far."
He gives us a system, a structure, a
pathway through the korbanot. Because
love, real love, isn't just a it a
feeling, it's a it's a framework. It's a
commitment. It's a way of living. And so
So, where where are we when Vayikra
begins? Where are we in the Torah?
Right? We've just finished building the
Mishkan.
We just finished the construction of the
Tabernacle. The divine presence, the
Shekinah, has descended into the camp of
Israel. God is living amongst us. God is
no longer speaking from a a distant
mountain like Sinai. He's not thundering
from the heavens. He's now dwelling
amongst us, within us.
Uh he's always living within us, but the
awareness and the consciousness and the
potency of that is beyond anything we
could we've ever experienced, you know?
And now he calls, you know, not from the
sky, not from a distance, but from
inside the tent, from within our camp.
And that's love. The infinite,
unknowable, beyond all comprehension
creator of the universe
is saying,
"I don't just want you to believe in me.
I want you. I want you to come close to
me."
