How can we dance during a Jewish massacre?

so it's the most sacred and joyous of Jewish holidays we're sitting in chill we're praying we're getting ready to dance and rejoice and somebody comes in and reveals the horrifying news of what's going on in Israel our hearts just sunk and now we have to make a decision do we dance how do we react to this are we insensitive by dancing are we neglecting the holiday by not dancing everybody was just trying to process the shock and what do we do and we made the decision to dance there's a terrorist attack going on hostages murders and you know we don't even describe it and we're dancing why and I'd like to share with you three insights as to why we've all danced on this very confusing holiday number one you can't mourn on a holiday mours is postponed so despite all the deaths Judaism believes that the joy of the holiday the happiness is not a mood but a responsibility we have a responsibility to be joyous and it's it's a confusing feeling you know in our heart we're crying in our face we're crying with our legs we're dancing because we want to do God's will that was the first thing that kind of went through our minds but then we thought about it a little bit more uh deeply and I was reflecting on one of my favorite verses in tahil and Psalms the Lord is your Shadow God is our shadow he's here to protect us but the balm has a a different interpretation a shadow follows the person B says God follows us and when we open ourselves to divine blessing when we open the channels through Joy God reciprocates and we we honestly felt that dancing on Sim Tor is doing a service to our brothers and sisters suffering in Israel because our trust and and joy is opening those channels opening the channels of blessing and then there was a third thing that crossed my mind we're celebrating not just because we need to we're not celebrating just because we need channels open but beyond that we're anticipating a brighter future we're anticipating a positive future we're anticipating good news we're not ignoring or bearing our head in the sand but we're we're hoping and praying for a brighter future and that it's soon and there should be no more hostages there should be no murders there should be no more brutality there should be only peace peace for our brothers and sisters in the holy land and I'd like to just read to you a very meaningful Psalm into hm where it says this is chapter 149 kest let the faith full exalt in glory let them sing upon their beds let the glorification of God be in their mouth and a double-edged sword in their hand to execute vengeance upon the Nations punishments upon the people to bind their kings in Chains and their nobles in Iron feathers to execute upon them the prescribed judgment this is the glory of all his faithful praise God God the glorification of God in their mouth a double-edged sword in their hand the gar and says what is this double or sword that we have it's the praise of God in our mouth that is the double-edged sword saying the shama twice a day declaring that God is one that God is relevant the God is true despite how difficult it might be twice a day every single morning every single evening this is our weapon that's not to say that we don't need to take uh physical measures and that we need the IDF to do what they need to do but for us that are feeling helpless over here say the shama every single morning every single evening declare that God is relevant and God is real
