You’re Being Judged—But The Judge Is Your Father #shorts

There's a unique prayer that we say on Rosh Hashanah, throughout the 10 days of repentance. >> [music] >> It's called Avinu Malkeinu, our father, our king. Why do we put together the a concept of father and king together in one breath? These are two opposites. As we mentioned, one is representing [music] fear, the other love. So, the idea could be understood in light of what we've said like this. Really, we are forced to face the king of judgment on Rosh Hashanah. Melech Ha'Olam, Melech Ha'Mishpat. We are being judged by the king of the world. And this is very, very fearful, intimidating. Life is weighing in the balance. The book of the righteous and the book of the wicked are opened. Will we be granted life? Will we be granted blessing? Or unfortunately, the opposite. We need to try to tap into God's love and care for us, which is essentially the root of creation. So, in this prayer, by mentioning Hashem as our father together with our king, what we hope to do is fuse these [music] two attributes, the attribute of chesed and judgment, in order to overpower the divine judgment, giving it a sweetened, [music] softer expression, that we should be judged favorably.
