The best news that Israel's had in the last couple of weeks is that America has done a deal with Iran and left out the Israelis. Ever since Donald Trump came out with his extravagant claim of removing all the residents of Gaza and turning it into the Riviera, the Israelis have been living in this never-never land, this pipe dream where the 11th Cavalry headed by Donald Trump would gallop over the hill to the rescue of the Jewish people. Now, if you think about it, it's really a pretty foolish idea. Donald Trump may be sympathetic to the Jews, he may have a Jewish son-in-law, he may have business contacts who are Jews, but in the end of the day, Donald Trump is interested in the United States of America, period. And in truth, that's what the president of the United States of America should be interested in. When will we wake up and realize that the only protection we have is from Hashem, from God, the master of all. Only Hakadosh Baruch Hu, only Hashem protects His people. Nobody else, nobody else protects us at all. Let's face it. If the Americans can put on their dollar bill, "In God We Trust," how much more we, the Jewish people, should be saying, "In God We Trust." We don't trust America, we don't trust Trump, we don't trust anybody except Hakadosh Baruch Hu, Hashem, God. Nobody except Hashem. And to the extent that we put our trust in princes, in politicians, in our allies, to that extent will God leave us to the vagaries and the currents of world politics. As Dovid Hamelech said many, many years ago, "Al tiftechu bindivim, bevelo adam she'ein lo shua'ah dot." Place your trust in princes, in mortal man, who cannot bring salvation. The right side of history is to be on the right side of Hashem. And the right side of Hashem is to do His mitzvahs, to love Him, to fear Him, and to proclaim His majesty over all the world.
