If this person never changed, would you
still want to marry them? Welcome back
to the 10 Commandments of Dating. This
is commandment number eight. Thou shalt
not date potential. So often, I'm I'm
hearing from people that, "Oh my god,
this person has the most amazing
potential. They're so spiritual. They're
so driven. They're so motivated." But
hold on a second, where are they at
right now? People can be on a high, and
then they could come down from a high.
Recognize that we're talking about
proceeding to walk down the aisle with
this person, commit to making all of our
decisions with this person. We're
incorporating who they are, their
ideals, their goals, their values, and
where they're really at. So, where are
they really at?
If you're walking down the aisle, and
it's on condition that this person is
making a change,
so then what are we walking down the
aisle with? If this person never
changed, is this someone who we want to
be with? You, as well as the person
you're with, deserve to know that where
they are right now, you are happy with
them. You want them. You want them where
they are right now. And if you don't
want them where they are right now, then
what are we doing? We're marrying a
picture, a vision. And yeah, they do
have potential. You know who else does?
Everybody has potential. Everybody is
righteous at the core and has tremendous
spiritual potential. Question is, who's
living it?
And even for people who have made great
moves, are they on a high right now? How
much time has it been? Has it only been
one time around the calendar cycle that
they've been living in this drastically
different way? Is this a time to lock in
with them? Or perhaps maybe we should
give it some more time to see where
things really concretize.
Dating potential is a dangerous thing.
What we want to do is see, where is this
person really at, and then look to make
decisions based on that reality. Follow
for the rest of the 10 Commandments of
Dating.
