Praying before Difficulty - Rabbi Yaakov Altman

[Music] what today we're going to speak about is one of probably the things that impacts your life on a regular basis I wouldn't say more than anything else but it's definitely up there the top 10 things that impacts your life on a regular basis okay if it doesn't yet impact your life on a regular basis you might want to consider it and pick yourself maybe it perhaps should have a place in your regular in your life okay now this class really requires a lot of introductions which we're going to skip which is not really so nice to do because a lot of people are going to hear it on my exactly sure what's gonna come from different places but we're going to just get a little piece of the puzzle and explain that piece very well now the topic is the following before I tell you what the topic is I want to give you one introduction sometimes you have what's called the anesthesia effect if you ever had general anesthesia what happens is they say count down backwards from 100 or count up to 101 - next thing you know you hear T T okay what happens you woke up they say would you do anything well yes you're did 45 minutes after the surgery and it's over read-only alright but exactly that was right sometimes what happens when you come to a class the person speaking says the following topic is and it gives the damn a copy just like oh no it's one of those topics it's not like that okay so even though the top it's going to sound like that trust me it's gonna not gonna be that way okay ready okay I'm gonna go a little bit fast because we're a little bit late so try to hold on if you difficulty always pray before difficulty very straight yes we're going to talk about that don't worry we're gonna get there okay great question now always for difficulty Americans a reason why it and he saw that if he didn't pray the entire Jewish people would die except for maybe one person so he prayed and his prayer was so successful that only 36 people died now when they say only 36 people to show you how much danger the Jewish people were in at that time it was a seven-year war it was a year of a war there was a conquest of the of the of the Land of Israel and in that seven year war the Jewish people didn't lose a single battle except for this one no one died even this battle to actually won and this particular battle 36 people died so in other words 36 people died in the entire seven years and it was in this battle and had Adam Amin who had Abraham not praised the entire Jewish people the majority of viewers people have been wiped out so the governor says this is an example the Talmud says this is an example of praying before difficulty very simple here ends the boring part of this class now fasten your seat belts ready okay here we go number one why let me play is to store that in my son thank God is okay but he was in the car act with it on Friday I didn't find out about this until this morning because he was away he's on his way up north and he said to me you know I buy benched go male which means they made a special blessing that when you're saved from danger he was driving the car he was choosing the passenger seat and some was driving next to him the driver was driving who's next to the scene right and all of a sudden the car just smashed into the into the median he has no idea why the driver said he doesn't know what happened they think it was a car the tire blew out and the car suddenly smashed in went across three lanes twice the top of the car flipped the top of the the the hood flipped up and then flipped off he said he thought for sure he's going to die he said the resources the car was going to flip he said thank God the truck that was coming right behind him just missed them went around them otherwise would've been terrible right so exciting now I thought to myself that's an example of praying before difficult yeah and a regular basis pray to do it people in general pray we will talk about that soon that we pray on a regular basis be protected from all types of harm I'm going to see why okay why is this reason number one very simple reason sometimes there is a Gazzara there's a decree on a particular person or a community or a group that they have to have some kind of difficulty once the decree is made it's very difficult to remove the decree but if the decrees if so to speak God is considering whether to make such a decree on someone or in a group it makes it easier to stop him so to speak for making the decree if you pray beforehand once there's a problem to remove it is much more difficult to prevent the problem there's an old thing I think it's the samurai thing but it might be Confucius that I remember who's actually right it says solve one problem keep a thousand away definitely true some ones when you give the problem in the bud you solve a lot of problems make sense now here very simply there are tremendous number of calamities that could happen to the Jewish people god forbid and you hear this class he said you know I want to pray for the protection of the Jewish people so what are you doing you're praying loud no one should get hurt all the pregnant ladies should give birth at the right time it shouldn't have too much pain the baby should be fine the mommy should be fine right no car accident right no one should get an ingrown toenail even small stuff just the general protection shouldn't be heard from earthquakes or fires or attacks of any type or terrible famine any kudos disease there's all kinds of things to pray for now imagine this you hear this class and you start praying on a general generally speaking on a regular basis for the protection of the Jewish people now you come up you go through your life 120 years and you come up there and as you walk into the pearly gates so to speak there are no pearly gates to get there you come into the world the world to come they say to you welcome to the great righteous woman and you look around you say huh and they're pointing at you or you or you why is that they said well you single handedly saved the lives of 10,000 people you say what me well how could that be where when you know you go through your mind today could I Drive an ambulance not was a doctor no did I you know as a soldier maybe you are but I don't 10,000 people that's a lot of people well yeah you know that guy over there he was supposed to die from heart attack but because you've been praying for the Jewish people they do well he got better quickly that person stopped the car accident didn't have it right well then it's a slight bump or a fender bump protocol a fender benders a slight bump and nothing happened many examples like that right so you can find out at the end of your life that in the merit of your prayers many many calamities will prevent it that's one reason second reason this is very important very simply speaking God wants relationship he wants relationship not because he needs it because it's good for us it's good for us you imagine a person who has let's say has only one parents he doesn't know what happened to okay the other parents missing and turns out the other parent had a Benicia and the other parent is actually living a few blocks away but the other parent didn't realize that you're there whether the person is there right if you could get in contact with the parents that's for no reason no reals not a bad reason left you wasn't cut it'd be nice to have an extra parents around this is good right hopefully right if there's a relationship that you can have that's going to be helpful and beneficial to you it's good to have it God says to the extent you have relationship with me the better off you are that's the whole discussion I'm just assuming that it's true right now but let's take that for a given as a moment now God says listen it's hard to have relationships marriage is not so easy thank God my wife and I married for 21 years which is that 11th child about three weeks ago thank God I was great very sure about this big something like that hang a little girl yeah the oldest one is about this big all right let's bigger than anything toll the minute we get along well now anyway so that works the Jewish people are in Egypt and they're suffering terribly for hundreds of years terrible slavery they cry out god save us take us out of here save us save us right all of those prayers eventually got to such a mountain of merit that God answered their prayers and put them out of Egypt now God says ooh that's what I want Nelson to this put that on hold for a second there's a metric that says which is part of the Talmud that says a metaphor to describe this there was the king traveling through the forest and he's travelling with his entourage of men and everything a whole whole thing right and here's a damsel in distress of princess going help me save me she probably wouldn't throw him away but you get the idea right and he sees a band of marauders and thieves surrounding her and she had protection around her but the demand issues that was working with her did they weren't they weren't strong enough to fight off all these Marauders all these beasts so she said King save me save me so he swings in their swashbuckling and saves her and says wow they start talking a little bit thank you so much for saving me and heat now he's not married and she's not married he's heard about her and she's heard about him he's the king man so he said you know would you mind maybe we can you know arrange something we'd get back to your palace I'll have my people call your people yet no problem so two days later he calls the palace he calls her Palace I'm high the king can I speak to the princess please I'm so sorry she can't come to the phone right now yeah now when the King calls you usually take the call okay maybe she's indisposed who knows what right a few times keeps calling and calling and calling and calling she doesn't answer the Royal smell no pun intended yeah now listen to this it's just wait a second I checked her out I had looked into her background I looked into her family she's wonderful we're perfect for each other and she was interested at the time why didn't she want to talk me I want to hear her voice again so you know what he does it's a little bit Bastardly it's a little bit devious but it's for good reasons right he hires those robbers that ran after her the first time and he says next time she goes into the forest go attack her again but don't hurt her just scare her I'm gonna come in at the right time she's going to cry out to me and I'm gonna save her now it is kind of mean right it's not the way it's our relationship but that's not this metaphor it's not the beginning of the relationship the relationship started way before the Jewish people already had a connection right it's not a new thing so God says that's the same thing with the Jewish people we cried out to God we wanted we heard God heard our voice he said that's what I want to hear I want to hear your voice but then he took us out of Egypt and we cool okay we're out we're fine thank you you know I'll call you later got glasses wait a second the whole purpose is taking you Anna so I can have a open relationship nothing's blocking now we could just get married you're not in the house of slavery anymore right we can we can have a good connection instead the Jewish people cooled off God says Paro get back here hey boy yeah so far comes back and he runs after the Jewish people and then we cry out again gods that's what I want now listen to this this is a little bit scary but it's a good thing also part of the reason we have difficulty is just to get it to talk to God that's one of the major reasons now when God says you're talking to me already I don't have to send you to difficulty now it's not the only reason it's one reason but one of the major reasons in life are difficulties because just because God wants me to talk to him it's one of the major reasons yes excellent question the question is how do you explain to people that talk to God every day a lot difficult so we said that this is only one of the reasons why people have difficult snot the only reason and also sometimes it's still the case that someone's talking and have a relationship with God but their level of relationship can get much higher I heard a very wise man once say he's married to his wife probably about 60 years now very wise man he said you don't really love your wife than your wife the wife doesn't really love dogs in Italy a very good 3040 years as I don't know I'm mad for 21 year I think I love my wife every time if you're doing it right hopefully you get the new levels of relationship deeper understanding it's not just like the newlywed you know I didn't know about that about you know I said I don't know about you yesterday she's on another look at all everything right but there's always a deeper level of understanding and knowing each other the same thing with God okay now listen to this when I was a little kid I don't know I did some heinous crime heinous crime must have been four years old five years old and it was pretty bad I was probably like you know throwing my brother's a little crib over or something terrible like that right so he has a little bit not that kid right anyway so my father's running after me so if the crime was big enough he would get like this little tiny little like a strap wasn't hard it wasn't a big deal you know it's just to scare me right so he was after me it gets a little strapped right and I'm running it to the safest place I knew in the apartment was a three-bedroom apartment is enormous you know I can imagine right so I ran into the closet now the closet was about this deep which for me was about the size of a football field without only three yeah but that's about almost the same length as my father's arm especially when he leans in right so I'm going in there and back something and he's grabbing I'm I'm doing the dance making sure nothing hits me right right and he says to me he looks at me with total clarity and calmness he says was it worth it and I said yeah so I got the point so he didn't have to give you the punch I don't have to get the smack the point was well worth went in no problem yeah the point the person was not about the point about univer and wesson I did so sometimes God says if you pray to me ahead of time you have a relationship ahead of time I don't have to send in a difficulty okay it's a major way good now sometimes it happens that you're in a difficult situation and God wants to save you but you make it easier for him if you ask him ahead of time before you get into danger now everything is easy for God what does that mean it means easier in other words you should pray ahead of time because it's easier for God so to speak to save you before you get into a bad situation how is that true story this is amazing by the way yeah the rule is God doesn't like to make open miracles now what that means is he makes laws of the universe and in those laws of the universe doesn't like to break them in other words it's a local gravity he doesn't want to suddenly suspend the laws of gravity when thoughts floating around right doesn't work that way so as a result really he could do things to save you but in order to save you when you're in a pickle in a difficult situation you already the situation it might take a miracle he'll say to you just call me before you in the situation and I'll prevent the whole thing behind the scenes true story give an example two stories two stories when I was about 18 years old I was going from New York to Washington State we stopped off in some small city I don't know where was could be was Utah I don't know where it was I have no idea where we were and we're changing place we get on the new plane we're in the runway on the runway getting ready to take off about two or three planes ahead of us I look out the window and I see flames coming out of the front of the jet shooting out I see it again next week on plane fire burned I write the guys like in other words that's normal intensity says no that's not normal he says I'm a flight engineer don't worry I know everything about planes in about 30 seconds the pilot is going to make an announcement that we're not taking off 15 seconds later ladies and gentlemen we're having technical difficult time to go difficulties plays left left yeah we're gonna have to switch planes out all right as we getting off the plane I asked this guy who's a flight engineer right what would have happened had we taken off and we found that after that is on fire he said don't ask that question so on yeah true story is 18 years old one thankfully uh it's very scary very scary hopefully I'm happy they family for having for all of us yeah now second story probably my closest friend driving is one of these guys who takes care of his car very very well always changes the oil he write down exactly Emily miles he's our you know carving you're driving with his family his wife and his children in the back right green light presses the gas the car goes president hesitates never do that before never did it afterwards right as soon as that happens the car doesn't go forward a huge truck blows the light the other direction how do you think and well people don't hit my truck right I've asked him the story happened more than 10 years ago I had some recently that a year ago I asked him tell me did it ever happen before nope never happened afterwards nope the only Thomas car ever hesitated with that one time now okay it could be a coincidence yes but it could be it's an example of praying before head good next reason number three why do pray before difficult is amazing God willing and have you married no as married right God willing right you find the right person at the right time but it should be a great side thing a great man yeah you get along with him perfectly yeah he thinks you're the best thing in the universe right that's right yeah forever right now fast forward you're married and then fast forward now you're expecting and now fast forward it's time to go to the hospital you say to your husband honey it's time to hospital he's like yeah so he says what's going to happen right so you might have to call an ambulance your husband but no no he's a good guy he's okay he's going to help you I go to the hospital everything's fine now at that point is this fair to say that you're going to want to pray that everything works out well a lot of people pray this will please you know everything should be I should be finding good being right so now if you pray at that time you can only pray a certain number of prayers but if you start now you can put in thousands of prayers before that happens for tens of thousands of press now that sounds like not that big of a deal but to go into a situation when you have under your belt thousands of prayers ahead of time in two totally different stories now fast-forward bottles of it's a girl a mouse in a pink the Sam's on your house yeah wait a girl do is give me a threesome yeah it's amazing how many cute little outfit they all look kind of the same actually it was okay whatever so now fast-forward Mazel Tov it's her BAS Mitzvah Wow again you know whole big party at miles up she's at college she's engaged whoa time's going by quickly right fast forward she's expecting fast forward she calls you up mommy I'm going to the hospital meet me over there mommy I'm scared you say listen Rockhold bootsie's rincey whatever you the car right yes don't worry ever since rabbi Altman's class in the vey many years ago I've been praying for this moment we've been praying for 20 years for this moment don't worry that sounds funny but at that point it's not funny at all it's like why are you praying for 20 years tonight that's a big deal okay now another one there's a system of Prayer now your prayers don't really go up they don't really go anywhere but let's say it's as if your prayers go off between here they go through certain worlds and get to a place where there's a clarity that has only got God's really everywhere but there's certain places so speak where there's at that place so to speak in the spiritual world you can only see you see clearly there's only God that's the prayers get to at that point now they have to pass through a lot of different stages now let's say it's challenging to pray you don't really see God you can't hear him it doesn't openly talk back to us right now clearly don't have open answers if it hasn't Susan that's great but like you doesn't have most people right so that's the case it's very challenging let's see if finally praying your focus your mind is clear your thinking about God your priestly prayer is going up now if great Kevon was called great intention now up there in some I am up there in the spiritual world you have these big spiritual pieces and have battle axes and they see the prayer coming up and go there's a good one there's another one right now what is that about yeah I finally got my act together I finally prayed recently everything was going well and now you have these guys blocking my prayer what's that about I thought God wants the relationship what does it mean yeah so listen to this those guys are called macaques regime their accusers a McCotter egg is an accuser so a person let's say doubters let's say I want to be the first Lamborghini Rev like yeah you know I Drive to drive the seminar you even a simpleton takes me a while to take the buses I'd much rather have the Lamborghini yes they might not come for my class but at least that come because what's the Lamborghini Randy there he is right so I pray for a Lamborghini right or Ferrari and I'll take whatever you want right so the prayers go up and all of a sudden Mike my folder my case gets open wait a second rabbi Altman says last week you got upset at your son you came late for that class a whole list of things maybe you aren't so nice to the bus driver or somebody else right now suddenly open off your and they say that's called the mccottry it's an accusation they say maybe you don't deserve that and here's the thing those macaque redeem those accusers only block the prayers at the time of danger at the kind of urgent need when there's no urgent need they're not there they're not opening their mouths block the prayers so if you pray ahead of time before there's a danger your prayers go straight up without a block make sense it's a bit of a technical thing but it's important now one of the things could pray ahead of time about specifically is that there shouldn't be any macabre game there shouldn't be any of these accusers if you ever make scrambled eggs if you make scrambled eggs just put the eggs into the pan without putting any type of grease or anything on the bottom or any butter isn't like that oil forget it yeah if you put the oil in first the eggs get a nice slide off when they're done everything's easy right when you pray ahead of cognitive shouldn't be any accusers what you're doing is you're greasing the pan so if you wind up doing something that's not right the accuser shows up it's like whoa and he falls off at least it doesn't block your prayers it's very important now what I'm going to say right now is a little bit of a challenge let's see if we can understand what this means sometimes you pray for something you deserve it meaning God thinks you deserve it you want it and it's good for you and it's good for you it's not sons your everything is not good for you but this is actually good for you you think it's good and God agree it's actually good for you but your prayer stops you from getting it how is that again be careful most of us I won't matter if you know it is good for you God says well your prayer is stopping you from getting what you want how is that the other question very strange okay that's a good that's a good idea if your intention is wrong that's true would you say if your intention is wrong your prayer is stopping at Lord's had you not create so to speak or if without the prayer factor you would have gotten it without the prayer fact I want to say it that way you really deserve it strange right Silas that works we said God wants to hear our voice he wants us to connect then sometimes we don't reach he tries all kinds of things that we don't wake up then he says oh you want that Lamborghini you want that good good husband you want that house whatever it is you want that good job you want that good house aren't you praying like crazy if I give it to you you're gonna stop praying oh that's terrible now what in other words I want to give it to you and you deserve it and it's good for you but you're finally talking to me if I give it to you going to stop you're gonna stop talking to those thanks so much now what terrible right I notice my prayers get you want me to pray but sighs if I pray it stops me from getting what I want you're the problem so what is a very simple solution what do you do for this I'm not going to stop praying you can feel free to give me what I want God because as soon as you give it to me I'm going to keep on praying that's not going to stop now that's a little bit hard how do you keep praying how in the world they keep praying with intent this a child let's say of a couple ones ever child they pray for years they finally have a child how do you keep praying with the same intensity there's a way two ways gratitude take the intensity of begging asking requesting yearning and turn it into gratitude god I don't know how to thank you Wow again on and on that never ends gratitude never ends never ends especially with something big which most things are pretty big anyway I heard a phrase once appreciate the little things because one day you'll find out that they were the big things definitely true now this is an incredible thing if you pray it has to be with the intention of God you can feel free to grant me my prayer right now because if you grant me right now I'm going to switch all of that intensity into thanks that's an interesting thing God wants to cry out and intensely to him there's actually a verse that says scream out to God and thanks and you lush and beside you the word anywhoo means to speak up loudly to scream so you can change the intensity of asking to the intensity of thinking it does the same trick now here's what's amazing let's say a person is a little bit stubborn and he or she prays intensely for what they want as soon as they get it they stop that means wetting what gets them to pray a lack missing something pain difficulty so God says all that works I'm going to have to take away other things from you so that you pray more but let's say as soon as God granted you you just go crazy and thanks you just don't shut up about it I got it I just you know I know it's 25 years ago you gave me this e I just I really appreciate that yes at one time I need to use the bathroom I found one or you know how to in Quran Cornell everything's fine we're at a headache uh my headache went away or or or or or they on and on and on God's like wait a second if you think that's good try this and then you get more so which is better for us in this world to be the one that only responds to pain or one the responds by thanking clearly right so when it says w-4 difficulties doesn't only mean before difficulty means davon intensely with banks look around some of the things I haven't say wow thank you I appreciate that now some of you may know what I bet so you might know not know I'm talking about right I'm pretty white kid right so I go to the beach it can be difficult yeah or this be careful yeah I've had times I've gotten sunburned so badly so badly sunburned I couldn't leave my house for about a week it's pretty terrible very very badly yeah thank God hasn't happened many years I was very careful since then yeah I've had kids like that also it's a big thing yeah most of my kids are red have red hair red haired people up usually generally speaking putting it on pretty light yeah anyway so you never realize I never realized in my life that the skin on the top of your feet could be in pain they just can't put socks on because the top of your feet are in pain thank you there's no pain over there yeah no pain on my back on my legs yeah sometimes when you get a really bad sunburn you like your skin is two sides are too small you can remove you can't go to sleep you can't stand off began to I think yet don't want breathing sometimes are there's a lot of people thank God for now quick review why should I pray ahead of time number one you prevent calamities and the Jewish people come well so many climbers get prevented that's a tremendous source of merit for people also number two you can brew in addition to preventing calamities it also means it's going to be a relationship established let me ask you something something I left out two things are left out in the relationship part I'll tell you a very strange thing then a statement this is a very strange statement I mean it's a metaphor it's not real it's real but it's a metaphor okay the Talmud says in the future which actually applies to now the places of learning are going to be excuse me for saying places of indecency where people hire themselves out excuse me now damn thing No okay make it clear right in the future the places of learning or do excuse me houses of prostitution hospice all god forbid what does that mean it's a metaphor now listen to this this sounds like a joke I don't mean to make a joke I don't mean to be offensive I'm not trying to be offensive it's it's just it's an idea it's a serious idea it's not like it's not a joke at all what is the difference between a wife and a woman who sells herself commitment and what was the other woman what's the other one no commitment and what the commitment means you care about the other person the other one or the person's own selves there's no relationship at all it's all taking it's not giving right when the Talmud compares places of learning to Bravo's what that means is that people going to get to the point where they learn only for their own pleasure or largely for their own pleasure not because there's a commitment sometimes a man it happens every time the woman also that you come back late from the house and come back wait you went to a wedding or something else you must know I didn't praise the evening prayers you put you're already in your bed about to fall asleep when you get out of bed at that point to pray it's not because you love to pray it's because you committed my two little daughters now the hero Ethel she's my three-year-old she's quite a mouthpiece super cute red-haired girl about this big it stands up about six feet tall I don't have to listen to you I know and you know that's filtration I know you don't thank you three years about this ball yeah and suppose this yeah except that cute little face got red curls all around very cute anyway and the other ones my other one is is that to me no profit little she's only three weeks old now so when either one of them cry in the middle the night I'm not getting up because they're cute especially when two o'clock in the morning and then three fifteen and then for 15 and then for 45 okay right you doing because of commitment that's close relationship so it's the same thing here when you pray you don't only pray when you feel an immediate need if you want to demonstrate the love in the relationship you have to play when there's no immediate need I'll give an example this many many years ago your parents will probably remember this long-distance phone calls were expensive there's no internet it actually have long they go through electric wires across the country is expensive yeah so if you wanted to call from one place to another even if it's a different area code is expensive so people stop using long-distance phone calls they were using less and less than very expensive thirty five years ago would cost you they could have a two hundred dollar phone bill thirty-five years of a lot of money right so they came up with the whole advertising scheme reach out and touch someone that was intelligence keen yet you see an old guy sitting there reading the newspaper ad newspapers on Thursday his wife similar thing with the glasses and she's on a rocking chair knitting okay the old phone actually had a bell inside her know like these rotary dials I remember those things I have them right so phone rings pick the phone yes hello hi dad it's Johnny tawny are you okay yeah dad why is it what the long-distance call is everything all right yeah yeah dad everything and your wife is she okay yeah that's just fine and the children are they okay dad everybody's fine so so why'd you call just because I love you dad reach out reach out and touch someone yeah you make a phone call with somebody you love them because you love them not because you typically need to think right now I'm sure everybody in this room has somebody then you make a phone call to they'd be very happy to hear from you now some and somewhere a grandmother's something like that some play some play eris whatever it is brothers and sisters like they'd love to hear from you right same thing you call up guys they got everything's fine just want to say hello that's the connection you can't make that connection if you only pray when you need it make sense okay good now we also said because God wants to hear a voice he will sometimes send us difficulties to get us to wake up if you pray ahead of time of difficult never happened you don't need the relationships already there okay also you go into a difficult situation it's it's likely that we're going to know somebody in our life coming needs an operation a certain point I don't want to pray for them don't wait go wait pray now God in case anybody needs an operation is to go nice and easily they shouldn't need an operation if it is just to be minor who knows what there's all kinds of things to pray for a whole long list if you wait you can only pray a few times oh I left something out very important sometimes you can't pray at the time with difficulty you're not able to a person wants to pray for his own health or own health but she's in the coma god forbid or she says she keeps you incapacitated whatever you can't pray it's not able to pray at that point she pray ahead of time then you okay yes [Music] great question how do you pray with intention for things that are in the future you don't know about them there is no shortage unfortunately there's no shortage of things that happened today when you see something that happens think you know that could have been me or somebody that I know let me pray for everybody who could be protected from that again okay good now there's another thing by the way sometimes you have a feeling that don't make yourself crazy if you want these people to worries a lot don't don't do this don't worry about this so I have a feeling you have a really intense feeling that something's wrong sometimes God sends you one of those feelings because something's about to be wrong he wants you to pray ahead of time to protect yourself it doesn't happen too often but it happens now and then you can't if you're a nervous person then forget all about this okay you have to be normal and healthy very important none of this my wife was in seminary many years ago and she had two roommates it was in Cleveland and it was the wintertime it was snowing outside one of the roommates was on the road and suddenly she and her roommate felt very nervous for the third roommate who was out in the snowstorm and they said quick let's pray so they started saying to him the third thing Psalms and praying for there their roommate and fine a few hours went by the roommate came back they said are you ok you ok yes actually how do you know what do me how you know well I had an accident make a long story short they noted what time they had they had prayed what happened she's driving along all of a sudden she hit some kind of black ice or whatever it was and her car lost control and jumped over the railing onto the other side and she said she saw the the face of the man coming dead-on at her and she like in horror and looked like until both cars came slowly to a stop and cars just bunk gently and that was it she wasn't hurt from the car jumping the median and she wasn't hard from the impact incredible it happened at the just about the same exact times like a few moments after they start praying now it's very unusual that doesn't usually happen I've asked my wife does that ever happen after that no has only happen once in her life so it doesn't happen too often yeah it never happens but sometimes sometimes ok now the other reason we said it's important to pray at home is because you can avoid these macaque reggae music users the accusers are not there at the time of no difficulty don't wait for difficulty then it makes it difficult to get up there make sense ok now last thing was if you pray sometimes your prayers themselves are stopping your requests from being granted because God says I have a way to motivate you make sense so if you if I give it to you're going to stop at that point you have to say God I'm willing to keep on praying I'm not going to stop it's a little bit of a trick I learned this lesson actually for my wife many years ago when our third kid was born before the child was born were praying intensely everything should be fine praying and praying and praying she's in labor I think like 10 hours right more than intense labor for 10 hours but a period finally intense prayer baby's born she's holding the baby she's quick let's start praying I said why are you ok I was like the commercial yeah yeah is the baby ok yeah wife Rachel we just praying and thankfully for God to give us a healthy baby and I should be fine the baby should be fine why should we stop because he said yes I thought myself man you got the short end of this deal honey [Laughter] classic example women anyway now any question okay now it's a process you don't really know what's going to happen in the future you can't be afraid that bad things going to happen but the main thing is to focus on the relationship that's a whole discussion by itself I'll just say one way to do it when you pray you have to realize that God is no less real than any person you would speak to and is not any less aware of us than we are when we speak to someone else and when someone else is looking at us it's just as real as any person so when you talk to person he's like oh they're looking at me I can't just do whatever I want okay so we're going to talk about that another time okay all the best play is so good
