No matter how far you stray, no matter
how many times you fail,
success is inside of you just waiting
[music] to burst out.
Most people have good in them and
therefore good comes out of them.
The sages tell us
that
even the Jews that don't do mitzvahs,
the empty Jewish people and by way of
extension the non-Jews that also don't
do
what God really put them in this world
to do, even these empty people
are really in essence full of mitzvahs
like a pomegranate.
Now, for the banana analogy we're
talking about the seven mitzvahs that
they're not doing and for us we're
talking about the 613 mitzvahs that
we're not doing. Contrary to the the
what you think that we're empty, we are
still full of mitzvot, the 613
and seven,
like a pomegranate is full of
pomegranate seeds.
And the question is, what's the lesson?
What's the message?
The idea is that we may not even be
conscious that we're doing a mitzvah,
but a person is created with good inside
and that good finds expression.
It could have a hard time finding an
expression, could be not constant. Even
if they have issues, even if they want
to reject divine commandments and they
want to say that they're not so good,
they helped their mother, they helped
their friend, they loan money, they
and they they they So people do good
without thinking of it as a mitzvah and
so what the sages could be saying based
on this this approach is even the person
that that that you might look at him and
journalistically say, "Oh, he doesn't do
mitzvahs."
He is still full of God's mitzvahs
because life is full of mitzvah
opportunities. Without even realizing it
we're we're doing mitzvahs.
So what some want to say, which doesn't
work out scientifically or
agriculturally, is that a pomegranate
really has 613 seeds
because our Torah has 613 mitzvahs.
[music]
And so for this analogy to be accurate
and correct, so they're saying that just
like a pomegranate is full of 613
mitzvahs, I mean, [clears throat] seeds,
so too even the Jew that's empty, he
also is full of
of mitzvahs like a pomegranate is full
of pomegranate seeds.
And
so, there's a few problems with this.
What's the first obvious problem? If you
open up a pomegranate and you count
them,
you you you are not I doubt you're going
to get 613.
So,
that's that's problem number one.
Problem number two is
we're talking about people that don't do
all of the mitzvahs. So, what what is
with the 613? They're not doing all the
mitzvahs.
So, why are they full of 613 mitzvahs
that they actually reject,
but they're full of those mitzvahs? It's
a little bit counter It doesn't make
sense, at least to me. And the third
problem is
an even bigger problem
is that there is no Jew in the world
that ever lived
that can compare himself to a
pomegranate. If a pomegranate really
supposed to come with 613 seed seeds,
then there is no Jew that ever lived
that can compare because no Jew ever did
all 613 mitzvahs.
>> [music]
>> It's impossible to do 613 mitzvahs. So,
what does it mean that that even the
great Gaonim, which we said that's a
problem,
>> [music]
>> are full of davka 613? No Jew was full
of 613 mitzvahs. So, this makes zero
sense.
The real lesson has nothing to do with
how many seeds are in the pomegranate,
but a deeper idea. Here's the idea.
Since my soul,
in essence, is connected with the
mitzvahs, the mitzvahs are my soul,
and the mitzvahs are God. It's God's
expression in this world. God is
mitzvahs.
God in the likeness of God that we speak
about is mitzvahs.
It's his will and wisdom expressed
through 613 mitzvah channel.
And the soul that he created especially
that he endowed with the Jewish soul
with the with the
power of the divine part of the coming
out
So our essence is channels. We are
that's what we are in essence.
>> [music]
>> And even my body was created as a
garment for that just a jacket for these
613 expressions.
And therefore whether I'm doing them or
not
>> [music]
>> in essence that's still what I am.
I in essence am 613.
That's me. Whether I can activate it or
not whether it's on it's still lies in
potential or not on it's still my
essence.
That's what we're saying that the
essence of every person out there
whether he's created to do seven
or whether he's created to do 613
is this true essential expression are
those
and if he's not doing them he's just not
being himself. He's not being real.
But inside deep deep down inside
somewhere in there there still is that
that's the ultimate true reality that
he's just not connected.
Like we say that God says to Abraham go
to yourself.
A person could be far from that true
being that's inside of him but it
doesn't mean it's gone. He's just lost
or distanced from it.
When God says to to Adam [music]
where are you? So so Adam was lost he he
lost his his spiritual and and and life
compass but it doesn't mean it
disappeared. He's he was he was lost but
but the real him is still inside hiding.
Maybe buried but the real him never gets
never disappears and that's the point.
No matter how we're doing whether we're
succeeding or failing our essence never
changes. We are children of God. We are
holding the holy souls and we are
pomegranates that our essence never
changes. We are full of our essence no
matter what we succeed or fail to do
and that's hope. That means no matter
how far you stray, no matter how many
times you fail,
success is inside of you just waiting to
burst [music] out.
It's It's there.
It's on the tip of your tongue. Success
is right there. It's so tangible. You
could You could touch it almost.
All you have to do is want it.
It's the closest thing to you. We say it
in the Torah.
All that God
wants and asks of us
are the easiest things ultimately to do
if we just we just take one step
further, one [music] step deeper.
Our essence will explode and we'll see a
great light shining from us. And when
this world goes through a process of
taking that one step closer to its true
self,
to the God its creator, which is the
fabric of existence.
God is everywhere.
If we take that one effort, one step to
just reveal that which is already there,
we have Messiah, we have unity, we have
success, [music] we have eternality,
and we have a sweet, sweet new year.
