[Music] my name is rabbi Daniel Sean Bock I'm a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist based in New York and around the world via Skype today is the last in a series of videos concerning internet and cell phone addiction if you've been watching this series you have learned the reasons why people become addicted why they maintain addictive thinking how they can overcome denial projection and rationalization tonight we're going to go to the final step if you've tried all the other things mentioned in these videos and Phil need help I invite you to take the next step the next step is if you've tried to do it all on your own and you can't do it it's time to join an Internet and cell phone support group what is so powerful about a group there's no question that is an individual you're facing so many competing forces in the world so many powerful forces people can make you angry your boss can yell at you life can be difficult at times it's hard to make living some people struggle in their marriages some people struggle with the parents other people struggle with their children and many people just need a little bit of help a little bit of support from other people can go an awfully long way I've seen this for years in other forms of support groups there are magical things that happen sitting in a support group watching other people share about their own problems about their own difficulties one begins to see that other people share their problems in this world and in a good support group where people are supporting one another and listening non-judgmentally one begins to believe in the power of humanity the power of chloral that others can give you life and others can actually love you and help you get out of your predicament when you do that effectively in a group you start feeling a sense of camaraderie you start believing deep down inside of yourself in between the groups that there's someone to turn to but there's a group of people that actually care about you that can give you so give you strengthen life and make you feel better about yourself and therefore I invite everyone here to begin the process of joining what we call a 12 steps group the 12 steps were started over 75 years ago initially to help alcoholics overcome their addiction a few individuals began a movement called Alcoholics Anonymous and the last 75 years hundreds if not thousands of groups have popped up all around the world to help people with alcohol addiction drug addiction gambling addiction and unfortunately today the new phenomenon the internet and cell phone addiction these groups are based on something called the 12 steps these twelve steps are an amazingly powerful way a ladder so to speak that you climb up step by step to overcome your addiction the 12 steps begins with admitting your powerlessness then developing relationship with God admitting to yourself all the wrong things you've been doing admitting to other people all the wrong things you've been doing asking forgiveness to the possible people you've heard in your life and then when you get to that 12 step the top step then you go at and help other people by sponsoring others helping them overcome their addiction bertha shem and the jewish community there are several groups now that have begun to help people with internet addiction one of them is called guard your eyes calm a wonderful resource which can help you overcome your addiction Baruch Hashem I'm proud to announce the beginning of another 12-step group to overcome internet and cell phone addiction I'll be running this group every week to help people around the world overcome the challenges that they're facing in terms of the Internet one of the most powerful things about this new group is it's going to be 100% anonymous and I find this to be so important you don't have to come to a group in person and to expose yourself in this new support group it's going to be online and 100% anonymous people from around the world have already called this group and many have reported feeling relief overcoming their sense of denial overcoming their fears of isolation and low self-esteem because it began talking to others in this group and they began to find the strength to finally overcome one of the most powerful things in the world that so many are facing today that is cell phone and internet addiction to find out about how
