“I Lost Everything and Found Faith”

And more than anything today, I believe in the Holy One, blessed be He. My faith today and my return to Judaism are something I probably never would have done if I hadn't gone through this. Suddenly searching for Hashem for real. >> Can you explain what it was about this event that made you search for Hashem? >> The fact that I lost everything. Suddenly I had nothing to be happy about, you know? Before that, I could be happy with, I don't know, external things, you know? Like money. And suddenly I lost everything. I had nothing. And I searched. Suddenly I was asking, "Wait, so why am I here in this world?" You know? Suddenly I set out on a real search to find the meaning and why I'm really here in this world. And if I'm here, then there must be some reason. And the first thing I found was meaning. The whole idea of meaning in life, of having a mission. And that was the first thing that moved me and gave me the strength to want to live again.
