rabbi Ribicoff what if a preteen or
preteen aged or kid does not want to go
to school what do we do with them these
days you already said we don't lock him
in the closet anymore correct can I take
that back I guess I agree a hundred
percent robot classical what he said
just I had a different dimension to the
whole the whole question I think parents
get nervous when Chavez want to go to
school what's going on maybe the word
about you know going off the D going off
with Derek maybe there's issues and
religion and things like that that they
also get turned off but I think a lot of
these things they don't happen overnight
it's something that's a it's a it's a
process that that takes time and as a
parent I think that we're missing out a
lot of times of really communicating
with the child being there working with
them when it comes to homework when it
comes to test studying spending time
with them and in talking to them and to
find out how are they doing in general
you know how is the social life are they
getting along with the school what's
going on in this why you going to the
parent teachers conferences to find out
from the teachers you know how the child
is doing again it doesn't happen
overnight that the child you know let's
say it doesn't like school or spelling
or having issues and problems it's
something that takes time and if you're
not an active parent and being there
it's not just having kids and that's the
end of a then let let the wife they care
about the school take care of it and
that's the end of it you still have to
put in a time and effort into raising
the children being involved in their
lives when it comes to the day to day
growing up of the children is one thing
that my wife instituted many years ago
at the beginning I hated it she would
take out the kid once a day at a school
and have a lunch or a snack with them in
the middle of a school time and for me
it was like I'm paying tuition why are
you taking the kid out of school I
wanted to get every minute as they can
once a year once a year but then over
time I noticed that the kids look
forward to it they they love that
special time with the pen brush and we
do have a big family and it's it's you
get lost in the shuffle sometimes and
when a child feels that you're special I
wanna give you one-on-one with mommy
with daddy you know the child feels
great they feel they feel like they you
know they want to succeed they want to
make mommy daddy happy they want to be
there for the for the parent and and and
you build up a rapport with them you
have a connection with them you have a
you have open communication that they
shake you know you able to talk with
them because you don't want them talking
to their friends you don't want them
talking to the computers you don't want
to get things off the streets if you're
an active parent and they know they have
where to go to when they have their
issues I'm gonna have the problems of
the struggling into whatever it is in
life they have the channel where to go
to that's you and you'll be able to talk
with them and to give them the right a
scuffle the right advice the right tour
perspective on what life is all about
instead of getting it from the streets
or from a fun places which are which are
you know immoral or just not not problem
for them to hear or to see so if you
build up that connection with the child
you'll be able to get that that
connection with them and understand what
your responsibility as a parent is and
this way hopefully a child you know one
day won't just wake up and then decide
they're you know they're having their
issues a problem you know you'll be on
top of it to be able to control before
it gets out of hand
