>> Good evening from the south of Israel.
This is Elizer Brody with Amuna hour
number 250, landmark number. Tonight we
have a special dedication,
our very close friend Igor Olshtein. He
in Miami, Florida, he lost his father 2
weeks ago. So we're dedicating tonight's
lesson to Rafael Israel ben Barrel of
blessed memory and his neshama should
have a wonderful aliyah. They should be
in a really good place.
So we'll learn tonight that joy is a
person's primary remedy in life, no
matter what he's suffering from,
emotional, physical. As any of the
doctors, they have to pick hospital
clowns to make people happy, to bring
them joy, because that really is
conducive for healing. And we find that
joy is beyond the intellect. There's
nothing intellectual about joy. You
can't reach joy by way of intellect,
because joy is in the realm of emuna. So
if we discover that Hashem loves each of
us unconditionally, then that paves a
direct path to joy in life. And that's
what we're going to learn, how Hashem's
love knows no limits. This tonight's
lesson is entitled Love Beyond Bounds.
And there's no boundaries to his
compassion. Just as he's infinite, so is
his mercy and his loving kindness. So
once again, with Hashem's loving grace,
tonight's lesson is entitled Love Beyond
Bounds. And I want to first to talk
about love for a moment. There's a big
difference between a love for a child
and a love for a spouse.
Good Shabbos. I don't know that last
there was an epidemic of marital
problems, shalom bayit problems. I never
it was so many marital problems. You
could see that for a husband and wife to
love each other to get there, they
really have to do a lot of work.
But, as soon as a mother gives birth to
her baby, that baby goes to bus seat
right away instant love for that baby.
The father instant love for the baby.
You see the mother and the father
hovering over newborn baby. You don't
have to work to love your children. That
comes natural. So, we see that loving a
person's children comes natural,
but loving a person's spouse the spouse
is acquired even though acquired it is
or acquired it is couplets the second
half of the neshama, but a person
doesn't realize that. Person has to
really work hard in emunah and uplift
himself above limitations of this world
to get really bind make a soul
connection with the spouse cuz body
connections they're very limited. And
person that that's why people ask me,
"How come they don't find their
soulmate?" So, because you're looking
for your body mate. Look for your
soulmate and you'll find your soulmate.
So, there's an interesting phenomenon
in Western society that even emotionally
healthy people
they experience a lot of thoughts of
fear and worry and concerns, whether
it's economic security, like in the more
in the United States where it's personal
security, more in Israel with enemies on
the border bombarding. Well, this is
either way any side of the ocean it's a
type of anxiety that causes unbelievable
torment to the soul. If we look well, we
know the doctors tell us what anxiety
does to the body. Anxiety does stress,
which is all types of diseases from
ulcers and and cardiovascular problems,
even heart attacks, heaven forbid,
strokes, all types of things. But, more
than anything even beyond the physical
problems,
anxiety which have it to the soul. Soul
is not built for anxiety. So, I have to
get to what what a person do? So, since
there's so much anxiety in the world,
how does a person protect himself?
That's where emunah comes in because
emunah uplifts a person way above
anxiety. Once again, when you connect
with Hashem, the more you connect with
Hashem, the more you connect with
happiness, the more than we realize that
Hashem is doing everything for the best.
Now, why did we preface with the love of
a parent and the love the difference
between love of a parent and the love of
a soulmate? Because Hashem is a father
because as it says in the Torah, it's
our father in heaven. But
your children, your beloved children of
Hashem. So, Hashem we're children, we
all carry. How do we know we're children
of Hashem? We have a divine soul that's
part of Hashem's DNA. It's our part in
our DNA. That's the tiny spark that's
called neshama, the divine soul that's
up in the brain. And this is has the
same characteristics of Hashem. It
defies time and space. We can close your
eyes and imagine, if you're my age, you
can imagine 50, 60 years ago on the
other side of the world, the other side
of the ocean. If you imagine you imagine
who your first grade teacher was 60
years ago, 70 years ago. And they come
right back that the the neshama goes
wherever it wants, whenever it wants.
It's above time, it's above space, like
Hashem. Because it has the
characteristics of his father. And so
that's what it could do. So,
if Hashem
is our father in heaven,
and we know that Hashem is unlimited,
and he's all-knowing, and all-powerful,
not like us, not like us parents. We
have our own personal limitations that
sometimes limits our love for our
children. If a person is an egotistical
parent, then he's more worried about his
own ego, the gratification of his own
ego. The child has to be subservient to
his ego rather than welfare of the
child. We'll talk about that. But not
Hashem, not Hashem. Hashem there's no
way it's only 100% our own benefit. So,
this in
back to the modern society, you have a
situation in modern society where okay,
we have this given anxiety, all of us
all of us. And
the more we work on emunah, the less we
have the anxiety. The more we have real
emunah, the lower our anxiety level
goes.
But then we come in contact with modern
society, with the workplace, with
competition, with media. We're being
bombarded right and left that you're not
good enough if you don't have the 21 if
you don't the 21-in biceps, and if you
don't have six-pack abs, and if you
don't have a size four and you're did
did this that all types of things that
you're not good enough. And that gives
person uh subconsciously feelings of
inadequacy. There's all kinds of
algorithms in computers that they see
what a person serves on the computer and
hits the person right in the Achilles
heel. That's a particular company that's
advertising. That's why you see the they
they they send you advertising that they
don't tell you advertising about the a
a spaceship going to the moon cuz you
haven't expressed interest in spaceships
going to the moon. But if you expressed
interest in certain new car, all of a
sudden you get these advertisements of
new cars because the the these are the
algorithms and knows how to attack you.
And if a person looks like economic
problems, well, right away you'll find
out that
even if he's in a well, just got enough
to eat, and he has plenty of food on the
Shabbat table, and his rent is paid,
electric bills bills there's always a
feeling that given that you're not rich
enough, the neighbor's got more,
and people get really confused by all
this competition and all this feeling of
inadequacy and adequacy. Feelings of
inadequacy are the opposite of emunah
because emunah our sages tell us in
tractate Avot, the ethics of the
fathers, that the barometer of emunah is
sameach b'chelko. When a person is
content with his or her lot in life.
That doesn't mean that you don't want to
strive to do better. Of course you want
to strive to do better. But what you
have right now, what Hashem gives us
right now, thank you Hashem, this is
great. If you giving what you give me
right now, Hashem, this is what I need,
what I need for my soul correction, and
beyond that, I don't need it. So we see
that the root cause of all this
confusion and sadness and mental
disorientation and feelings of
inadequacy, it's a person's displeasure
with himself. And the displeasure with
himself, what is that? Simply, that's
the opposite of a Buddha cuz opposite of
a Buddha would would the a Buddha is
where a person is happy with his her
life. He's happy with the with the way
he is. Why you know, now when you know
that Shem is loving father,
Shem is not going to look at Aliza
Bender and say Aliza, why are you not
Sue Ryder? I say Sue Ryder, why are you
not Elisheva? And like that everybody
has their they have their own thing.
Shem wants Sue Ryder to be Sue Ryder and
Aliza Bender to be Aliza Bender and then
everybody will have to be that. Then you
want to say that Julia's got to be Julia
and nobody else. That's it. So, what are
we looking at other people for? We're
comparing. Have you ever seen a giraffe
complain that he's not an elephant? No
such thing. A giraffe knows what he's
got to do. The giraffe has a long neck
to do what he wants. A giraffe is not
elephant
is not jealous of elephant's bulk and
the elephant is certainly not jealous of
giraffe's neck. He's got his trunk. He's
got what he needs and he needs what he
do. So,
if a person
doesn't love himself,
he or she can't love anyone else.
But the key to loving yourself is to
know that Shem loves you just the way
you are. You don't have to listen to
Helena Rubinstein and you don't have to
listen to the Mercedes commercial that
you're nothing in life if you don't have
the girl in the white gown and you don't
have this $200,000 Mercedes. That's it's
garbage.
If you getting get along I'm happy as a
lark and I get along walking in the
park. I don't even have quirk in that. I
don't have a scooter. My feet you go
walk. Thank you Shem that you give me
these healthy legs. It's wonderful. And
then you look what Shem gives you in
life and you did. I don't need wheels
for for my soul connection. Simply do
not need them. And everything I live in
a very convenient place, a very
convenient city that everything is right
close to home. And if I need to travel,
we have excellent public transportation
here. You got a bus and at my age you
have travel free on public
transportation. It's fantastic. And even
with the
would cost me for the price of the
annual test of a car, I could go special
taxis wherever I want. If I need a taxi
to get somewhere to go to a wedding in a
particular place that's far away from a
bus stop or something like that, get
travel taxis all year long and it
doesn't come to the price of a test of a
test and like cars are licensing for 1
year.
So, we know we're not perfect. British
people just just the way we are.
So, imagine back to the love of your
children.
So, your children are not perfect. Who's
got perfect children? Nobody.
Um
Suppose you have as after sham
sham you more than one child.
Because one child gets a better grades
in school than the other child, do you
love one more? Or maybe one plays the
piano and the other one doesn't, do you
love the one that doesn't play the piano
less? Or one made the football team and
the other's not an athlete.
No. We know that a selfless parent loves
every one of his kids. And if they
don't, that that's not love. If the love
is contingent on any any single thing.
If the love is contingent There's no
such thing as conditional love. We learn
from Hashem. Hashem's love is beyond
bounds. It's unconditional. So, really
the way your love for our spouses
it it's got to be unconditional. And
we're going to get that by praying into
the spouse's soul cuz the body doesn't
stay. You're not you're not 25 under the
under the wedding canopy your whole
life. Get older, you get older. But the
more you put body aside, the more you
have a soul connection. With my wife and
I in our 70s, we never had such a soul
connection like now and the discussions
they deepen we didn't get get it get it
to each other. It grows it grows it
grows. And we all the time say that
love is wasted on young people cuz they
don't know what it is. They didn't
because they haven't yet connected to
the soul. They're still bodily oriented.
Hashem loves our soul. Hashem loves our
soul. What When does Hashem not love our
bodies?
When we subjugate our soul to our
bodies. When our bodies are subjugated
to the soul, this exactly what Hashem
wanted. Hashem wants our body to be
subservient to our soul, that we use for
each one of us is his or her individual
soul correction because our bodies as a
means of getting close to Hashem as
fulfilling Hashem's commandments because
you can't fulfill Hashem's command to
You can't give charity if you don't have
a hand to put the the coin in into the
to the poor person's pan.
And even so, if a person can give if
he's he's got a voice and he doesn't
have hand if he doesn't have the hands
he so the war veteran did he can ask
someone to to go into his account and
and give the poor person some money. So
we we need all we need all our faculties
to do Hashem's will. Do Hashem's will.
Now Hashem doesn't complain about us.
This is a
Gemara but fairish it's a it's an
explicit Gemara in tractate Avodah Zarah
page three. Hashem does not complain
about his creations. Hashem doesn't
complain about the giraffe why you're
not elephant. Hashem doesn't complain
about elephant why you're not a giraffe.
As so Hashem knows exactly
the spiritual DNA that he gave us,
exactly the soul that he put into our
body. Hashem does not complain to a
person why they are not anyone else, why
Mike is not David and why Barb is not
Sue. They know they what Hashem wants is
just like you are.
But Hashem is upset when you are not
using your own potential to be yourself.
And to use your own potential to be
yourself it comes back to loving Hashem.
Know that Hashem loves me and Hashem
gave me all the tools that I need. So if
Hashem
didn't make you 6 ft 10
and you can't shoot three-pointers from
40 ft outside, then maybe Hashem doesn't
want you to play in the NBA.
And if Hashem didn't make you the the
Twiggy and and you're not a 98 lb
gymnastic that could do a a triple salt
and backflip, then maybe you're not
meant to be on the US or the UK Olympic
the gymnastic team. Okay, so we say
Hashem doesn't complain. But sometimes
we go punch-drunk on the offensive.
We have this inner
inadequacy. The moment someone says to
them, have you ever seen people even
they think before a person even I think
the criticism's on the way, they're
right away defensive. It's like we say
in the in the tank core that the
the tank that the hatch of the hatch it
goes up. Okay,
should she on. The the hatch it goes
right up and they're right in defensive
mode. They don't have to be in the
defensive mode. Because Hashem doesn't
complain about us. And if you listen to
most people, they don't complain either.
They don't complain either. But what
time we have uh we think in the in
Yiddish there's an expression often
God's got blind to it.
For a person
uh the hat is burning on his head.
If a person has complaints about other
people, has complaints about himself,
then he thinks everybody has complaints
about him. So it goes without saying
that all these negative thoughts and
what to be this way experience them. And
I would like people sometimes you have
them and you can't you can't explain
them. You can't even explain that all
these negative thoughts, what makes you
feel bad, these are these negative
thoughts are the worst torment in the
world. But but
yeah, they have a power to overcome a
person
only when a person is not in the happy
mode.
I could say that people say it's easy
for you to say to be happy. It's
>> [laughter]
>> Oh, I could say somebody I got a notice
from the bank today. Notice from the
bank that somebody in Canada, how they
did it, somebody in Canada used my
credit card to try and take a cash
discount from a UTM, and the credit card
company here, they're right on the ball,
they right away canceled it. Well, what
a chaos, what a balagan, right away
credit card's canceled and payments and
this and that. Spent 2 hours on the
phone with prime time. They're
preparing for tonight's lesson. Do it
for Hashem, for Hashem. 2 hours on the
phone, okay, Hashem, this is from you,
this is all the best. This is It's a
nightmare, never happened to me before.
Your credit How did they How did it
happen?
Maybe some hackers or something like
that. But in Canada, look at it, they
know I'm I'm here in Israel, and baruch
Hashem, I was in the butcher shop today
and bought meat for Shabbat, so they
know I can't be simultaneously in
Ashdod in Israel and in Canada. So, they
don't know how hackers got this,
something don't know, but this is the
ills of modern society.
But then, what do you do? Stop, time
out.
Time out. Remember, Hashem loves me.
Oh, where do you learn, ladies and
gentlemen, that Hashem loves you? Three
words of emunah. Three words of emunah,
if you've read our book, the three words
of emunah, it's about three words
written Torah, ein od milvado. There is
no one but him. There's nothing in the
world but him but Hashem. There's no
hackers and no gods, it's only Hashem.
Hashem wanted this to happen. Hashem
wanted to see
if I could practice what I preach. Oh,
Laser, tonight you're going to talk
about happiness, you're going to talk
about connecting to Hashem. How do you
feel, my son? Now you get ripped off,
your credit card is closed off, you do
you know can't do thing they got to have
a new thing. What a balagan, what a
chaos, and informed the the people they
suppliers about the the new credit card.
That million billion dollar thing. No,
it's all from Hashem. Thank you, Hashem.
Thank you, Hashem. This could have been
somebody stole my health, didn't steal
my health. Credit card number, no
damage. How much financial damage did I
suffer? Zilch.
The moment it happened, the credit card
company right away knew something was
wrong. And that's it. They didn't honor
it. Right away they got up with me. Kind
of got up with us immediately. That's
it.
You're not in Canada, are you? I said,
"No, I'm in Australia. I said, "It's 90°
today. I'm not in Canada." Okay. I said,
"Right there. There it is." So, we see
that Hashem
when Hashem tests us,
it's a sign of love.
It's a sign of love. What do we say? If
Hashem doesn't pay attention to us, it's
something that you're not interested in.
You don't pay attention to them. But
someone you're interested you pay very
much attention to. That's the whole
thing.
So,
a person's remedy in life and that's
without emunah I don't without emunah I
would go crazy. Without emunah I'd go
crazy. But it's this is something I've
done First person that's talking about
myself I'm talking about something that
happened today. Which is that it's 9:15
in Israel. This happened at 1:17 at 8
hours ago. 8 hours ago. So, you're we're
talking about something fresh out of the
oven.
I'm not talking about something
theoretical.
So, what do you do when you're in a
situation where something seemingly bad
happens to you? You get seemingly bad
tidings. The doctor says this, the
lawyer says this. You cling to Hashem.
Hashem, I don't see anybody. I'm blind.
It's nothing but you. Ain't old me vado.
There's nothing or no one but you. It's
all you Hashem.
And it's not just some flowery idea.
Hashem loves us each one of us always.
There's no exception to the rule.
And guaranteed Hashem loves you umteen
more times than you love yourself.
His love it's the best thing in the
world cuz it's love with no strings
attached. No ulterior motives. No
angles. No catches. No small clauses.
And it's important part of emunah. Very
important part of emunah. And believing
that Hashem loves you unconditionally.
Wanted to take one night lesson with the
doing series when to take this one
lesson and to reinforce our basic emunah
to just remind ourselves that Hashem
loves us unconditionally. When the very
lesson said every single week to remind
myself to remind each one of our beloved
group members Hashem loves you. So do
we, but Hashem loves you especially.
Hashem loves you especially
unconditionally and that is the type of
emunah that's going to give you peace of
mind and happiness always. Cuz whatever
happens in life, it's all from Hashem.
What joy this overrides the intellect.
The intellect comes in the intellect
says, "Oh, you've got to be worried and
the job market is no good and the
economic situation is no good and the
security situation is no good and
Hashem
Rabbi Nachman writes in Torah 54 Likutei
Moharan, discourse number 54 that Hashem
personally orders for every person every
thought, every speech and every deed
according to the particular day that
person's life in the particular
circumstance and what that person needs
for his or her daily soul correction and
for the big picture, the general soul
correction. This is all designed to
bring a person closer to Hashem and this
is the epitome of divine direction. We
took eight weeks we really learned to
learn about divine direction and this is
Hashem's limitless mercy within the
context of his divine direction that he
just not Hashem didn't create the world
and put it into process and give it to
the angels to to run and Hashem went on
semi-retirement. No, Hashem is not
playing golf in Bobs Golf Springs and
he's not then
the with the with the Trump's
resort or whatever you call Mar-a-Lago.
He's not no, Hashem is running the
world. Hashem's busy running the world
and that's why we have to Hashem thank
Hashem always for every single heartbeat
comes from Hashem, every single breath
comes from Sham, every single brain
impulse, it's mind-boggling. You know,
you ask a neurologist, how many brain
impulses does it take to lift a finger
90° from here to there? 90° every degree
is one
a bit that this 90 million brain impulse
it it's crazy. It it's crazy. The
numbers that you can't even imagine. So,
imagine when you sit and you learn if
you're in in university and you're in
physics and you listen to a physics
lecture for 45 minutes.
How many brain impulses?
Can't imagine. There's no numbers to
make to make no numbers to imagine.
So, Sham's divine direction and his
control of our brain, our abilities.
Every single it's mind-boggling. We
can't even imagine it. We spoke about
Sham's control of the universe in macro
and in micro in our introduction of 13
principles. You go back and and see that
on laserbeams.com.
Uh his divine direction never stops.
You know what else never stops? Sham's
mercy and Sham's love for each of us.
I'll tell you one thing that Sham love
never stops.
So, the love is for each of us. His
particular love for you, no matter what
your situation is, no matter where you
are, no matter how you're up on yourself
or how you're down on yourself. In fact,
when you Sham when you're down, Sham
will lift you up.
And when you're up, Sham will rejoice
with you. Baruch Hashem, because his
mercy for every single person is
infinite. It's beyond our imagination.
Now, just to think about this is a
source of encouragement. Okay, right
away, every one of us we're in this
world cuz we all have challenges in
life. They may be health challenges,
income challenges, marital challenges,
child education challenges, you fill in
the plug. Fill in the fill in the the
the blank.
Just remembering, wherever you are,
that Sham's love for you, his compassion
for you is infinite, That's a source of
encouragement. Well, Shem, why are you
doing all this pain? Because Hashem
wants you to learn Emunah despite the
pain.
Champion athletes have a lot of pain.
Special
special unit soldiers, special forces
soldiers, they have a lot of pain. The
higher a person is, the higher a
person's performance is expected to be,
the more a person has to suffer in in
training. So, we want to be
Emunah commandos. So, we have to
strengthen ourself in Emunah, and that
is why look down Hashem that uh
most of all of you are are close to me,
but then we have a few new new names
here. Hashem, welcome.
And uh
share with the problems, share with the
group, share with me individually.
And I know your life is not easy.
But you're an Emunah commando. Despite
that, you're learning Emunah and getting
stronger. Not only that, say one other
thing. We said that less than 250 weeks
been on the air together for more than 5
years.
To see
your spiritual growth
in the last 5 years,
it's so gratifying.
Something that makes me most happy in
life
is to see the people close to me how
they grown in Emunah. Not only that, but
many people have been coaching other
people in Emunah.
Okay, so strengthen ourselves in Emunah
means strengthen ourselves in full and
complete belief that Hashem loves
that Hashem is absolutely good and
everything he does is for the very best.
Now, if we open up the compendium of
esoteric Torah, the Zohar, the Zohar
says that people are obligated to be
aware of Hashem's honor and to get to
know Hashem. This is an obligation each
of us has beyond the the
basic fulfillment of our commandments
required for for Jews 613, for Noachide
is the big seven. They
Maimonides said it's not your seven,
it's 30. We won't mention that. You can
see that in the moon and the Noachide.
But that's a 30 that you add to the
seven Noachide mitzvahs that adding the
the the slander, the
the prohibition against slander, the
commandment for loving your parents, the
commandment for for honesty in commerce.
So we got the 30.
Okay.
The Zohar says that for each one of us,
beyond fulfilling our commandments, we
have an obligation to get to know
Hashem. So the more we get to know
Hashem, that means that we can't fulfill
the commandments like Brazilian parrots
that like or like robots. No, Hashem
doesn't want parrots, it doesn't want
robots. He wants us. So
the more there's something upward
dynamic that we're going to learn now.
This is great. The more
we get to know Hashem, the more we want
to thank Hashem.
And there's a big benefit to this says
the Zohar because the this is Zohar
words of Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai that
the more a person gets to know Hashem,
the more Hashem does that person's will.
If you want Hashem, Hashem answer my
prayer. Get to know Hashem. The more you
get to know Hashem and come closer to
Hashem, Hashem will be glad to to do to
do what you want, do your will. Not only
that, Hashem says
even without your asking. But there's
there's such a level where Chanina ben
Dosa that's what it's a big tzaddik in
the Torah. He would before he needed
something, Hashem would be be right
there and it give him before he even
prayed for it. And so the Zohar says
even more than that. When a person gets
to know Hashem,
that it invokes he or she invokes
blessings from above and from below. And
there is a uplifts blessings and brings
down blessings. So that's the key to
heavenly treasures. It's like Hashem
gives you the key to the heavenly
treasures. So when a person gets to know
Hashem, Hashem uplifts that person. And
the higher person ascends, the better
gets to know Hashem. And the more they
get to know Hashem, the higher it lifts
him. And that's the beautiful upward
spiral. So we'll soon be you this. and
going to map it out like a physics
equation. With the Gmar and Bubba Kama,
page 16, says that there's a type of
human spine that's worthy of becoming a
snake.
I said what it that this is this is
really scary thing that there some
people that in the afterlife because
they did live an upright life.
Sham takes their spine, puts it in the
snake. They become reincarnated snakes.
Why?
Can't believe what the Sham said what
what they did what the
the Gmar says. Person doesn't prostrate
himself when he says the Modim prayer.
What's the Modim prayer? It's an
important prayer of gratitude and the
latter part the latter third of the
Amida. The Amida is a prayer we say
three times a day. We say it during the
week. We say it on Shabbat. We say it on
Rosh Hashanah and Kippur all year long.
And this is one of the most important
prayers in the It's a prayer of
gratitude. Modim. Modim means that I'm
grateful. According to Halakha, we have
to bend all the way. So, what does a
snake have to do with the Modim prayer?
It's the atfet what we call the atfet
principle in old Isaac's trail of
trickery a turn for a turn. It's measure
for measure. Modim means we thank you.
And Hashem created the snake with two
upright legs. It's the Gmar in Bubba
Kama said two upright legs but the snake
was an ingrate. The snake wasn't happy
with his own mate. The snake
coveted Eve. Eve was beautiful. The
snake
The snake was and he had he could could
speak like a human. Was upright like a
human. The snake didn't want his own
female snake. He wanted Eve. He wanted
to take Eve away from Adam. So, Hashem
cut off the snake's legs and the snake
is the symbol of the evil inclination
and as ingratitude and lack of These are
the two cardinal characteristics of evil
inclination, ingratitude and lack of
So, when a person fails to say the Modim
prayer, we thank you Hashem, he gives it
and gives only a simple perfunctory bend
at the waist. Doesn't want to invest in
the effort. So, instead of bowing all
the way down, he acts like a snake.
And the snake is spine is worthy of
being a snake spine. So,
what what's that ability prayer have to
do with Hashem's unconditional love?
Okay, here's the equation. The more
person gets to know Hashem, the more he
or she recognizes Hashem's blessings.
With all our free gifts, and the more he
or she thanks Hashem, then the higher
they go. Let me show it to you right
here. This is the love beyond balance
equivocation. You have here you have a
moonah.
And that arrow means yield. When
something yields, a moonah yields
getting to know Hashem. When you have a
moonah, you get to know Hashem even
better. Okay, when you get to know
Hashem, you have increased the blessings
from above and below.
And you get even more
reasons for gratitude. When there's more
reasons for gratitude, you get more
awareness of Hashem's boundless love for
you.
And then more expressions of gratitude.
Hashem gives you more reasons to thank
him. So, that uplifts him, gives more a
moonah. And you get more a moonah, get
to know Hashem, more reason for
gratitude, and you thank him more, and
you go higher and higher and higher and
higher. This goes upward and upward and
upward. So, that means there's no limit
to your ascent as soon as you strive to
get to know Hashem, and Hashem gives you
reasons to to thank him, and you get go
higher and higher and higher. So, what's
it getting to know Hashem? If a person
thinks that Hashem is giving him a rough
deal, a bad deal, that Hashem's being
unfair, excuse me, that person does not
know Hashem.
So, therefore, when a person thinks that
Hashem is unfair with him, despite what
what Hashem is really has this boundless
love,
then it's going to invoke the exact
opposite. That's going to bring him down
and bring him ingratitude and complaint.
The more they ingratitude complaint, the
less they get to know Hashem, the less
get to Hashem, the less blessing, and
down and down and down. But here, we go
up and up and up. Up and up and up, we
thank Hashem, and we have more more
reason to thank him. Hashem does our
will, we get closer to Hashem, more
reason to thank him. And that's what he
did. Okay, if you like, maybe I'll I'll
post this that you can I can download
it. I'll do
>> [snorts]
>> So,
right now,
the the people in
So, what what what about the Jewish
people here in Israel and in the UK and
in the United States? The United States
are fighting for lives. It looks like
all these progressives, socialists are
coming to power. And as they do, you can
see in Michigan all these
Muslim congressmen that are
anti-Israel. It's not anti-Semitic. It's
not in It's not in style. They say
anti-Zionist. Anti- Anti-Zionist, they
mean they're anti-Semites. They don't
differentiate between Zionism and
Judaism. It's just something more
socially acceptable. It's a a more
socially acceptable to hate Jews the way
they choose. So, we're fighting a
difficult war. If it's here in Israel,
we've got those enemies and we're in
constant threat from enemies in all the
borders. And if it's in America and the
UK and in France and in Germany, wow,
all this anti-Semitism. And even you
think in the in in the religious
neighborhoods in Brooklyn, where they
did the Hassidic neighborhoods of
Brooklyn, that people are getting
I mean, it's getting smashed and coming
home from synagogue, all types of
things. So, it's not just material and
spiritual enemies on one side, but it's
all around. And that means that we have
to wake up fast. It's a wake-up call
from Hashem. Hashem's a loving father.
So, why is Hashem doing all this to us?
So, it's simple.
Well,
the first reason is Hashem wants us to
spread more and more of it.
Hashem wants us to let everyone know, to
teach everyone that He loves them. That
this is all for the best. Why for the
best? Now, let's look why it's all for
the best. So, you see, if we
First of all, if we don't understand it,
we accept it with emunah. But, the more
we have emunah, then the more we gain
privilege to divine wisdom, and we get
divine understanding. Then, we
achieve
a measure of divine understanding,
understanding what Hashem is doing in
the world is through emunah. You can't
learn it in a textbook, and you can't
learn it in uh organic chemistry 303.
You know, not the master's program. So,
the second is Hashem wants to strengthen
of our observance
of the mitzvot between man and fellow
man. These are the mitzvot that are
common for all of humanity. Uh
Jews and Noahides or Emunahides,
whatever you like to call them. Okay, we
have Rav Auerbach His rebbe was a
secret kabbalist named Yehuda Zev
Leibowitz, of blessed memory. And Reb
Yehuda Zev warned a person must do
everything
to avoid causing anguish to a fellow
human.
And whatever you do,
don't raise your voice at another fellow
human. Don't yell at another fellow
human, cuz threatening and raising a a
threatening gesture, raising a hand, is
it it's unthinkable.
And self-righteous people with bad
tempers, they're enveloped in stern
judgments. That the judgments they're
judging other people, they bring it
right down on themselves. It's a
boomerang. So, don't go there, and don't
be jealous of them. So, we have to have
compassion for each other. Give in to
the other person. Let the other person
have their other right away. Yeah, I'm
not going to take another 2 seconds and
you have a car accident. Go ahead, my
brother. Go ahead. I need I'm not
competing with you. Go ahead, you go in
front of me. So, we have to be smart
and not right. And then, okay, it says,
you know, they they have they On the
cemetery, they have the guys and you you
know, I had the right away, was on his
tombstone. That doesn't work. So, here's
a big problem with us. If the Jewish
people had love for one another, no
enemy would have any power them. And you
know, we learn this we learn this from
Ahab. There was no Ahab was the second
seventh king of Israel after the civil
war between Judea and Israel. Israel the
northern 10 kingdoms, and Judea was the
southern two tribes of Judea Judah and
Benjamin. And the other 10 tribes were
the northern tribes. The northern tribes
they separated they had a civil war and
they separated. And their seventh king
was named Ahab. Ahab's wife was named
Jezebel. Ahab and Jezebel were the two
biggest idolaters in all of history.
And Ahab won all his wars.
And the Midrash says, "Well, how did
Ahab win all on win his wars?" Well,
King David won his wars, too.
But King David's soldiers came back
wounded and that lot of casualties.
Ahab's soldiers came back without a
scratch with the smell of aftershave.
So, the Midrash says, "How's that that
King David all the young soldiers got
killed right and left and Ahab's
soldiers they all came back?"
Well, explain our sages explain that in
Ahab's generation there was no slander.
This was something they would spite
their idolatry, they did not slander one
another. Didn't speak bad one another.
And there's proof of it. At the time
there was one prophet
in the kingdom of Israel that remained
loyal to Hashem that was Obadiah.
Obadiah Obadiah the prophet he was a
servant in uh the palace of Ahab and
Jezebel. Jezebel killed all the true
prophets. She didn't know that that her
servant Obadiah was a was a prophet.
And Obadiah found another 100 true
prophets and he hid them in two caves.
50 in one cave, 50 in another cave.
Well, meanwhile, Elijah the prophet
cursed King Ahab. He said, "Because of
your idolatry,
it says there's not going to be a drop
of rain that falls in the kingdom of
Israel."
For 3 years there was not a drop of
rain. It was the worst drought ever.
There was a hungry for grain,
everything.
So, for an entire year
Obadiah
brought every day bread and water to
these 100 prophets, the 50 and 50.
Now, just imagine how much of bread
subsistence ration and how much water
subsistence ration to bring to 50
people. After I made a calculation, that
we we call them the in the Israeli army
for a word from the British army, the
jerrycan. It's a It's a four-gallon
can, like 15 L. Those 15 L,
maybe 10 of these, 150 L.
At least a person in the the heat of
Israel would need to He's He's
on a donkey. How many donkeys do you
want to a wheelbarrow train and taking
this these two caves? Who's that
Everybody's going to notice that.
And to know to turn over to
to
a tattletale on Obadiah to Queen
Jezebel
that he's hiding these true prophets.
And she would have his head. She would
have given half the kingdom for such
information. Nobody revealed any
information like that. Nothing. Nothing.
And this is the the praise for that.
They got rewarded that they won all
their wars. They had no casualties.
But in King David, look in the book of
Psalms. We talked about We learned the
book book of Psalms how there was a Doeg
and Ahithophel and the Giphites and all
these people that slandered and revealed
when King Saul was jealous of King David
and tried to find his whereabouts,
revealed where he lived and revealed
where he hid was hiding. Oh, well. All
this stuff and that the why they had
they had all these casualties in the
war.
So,
just then we don't back have talk about
emunah. Why why why a moon?
We have to
feel sorry for someone that doesn't
know
the laws of wholesome speech. Doesn't
know that it's forbidden to lie. It's
forbidden to say the shame of the
slander another person. It's forbidden
forbidden to make fun of another person.
Say something a moon a lot of people
don't know. It is forbidden
to say a derogatory nickname about a
person.
Because the person's name
is from above. That's the characteristic
of that person's soul.
So if you say something derogatory about
that person, you're putting a derogatory
label
on the soul that the shame gave them.
That's bad news. We don't do that. Don't
do that. People don't realize what
they're doing. There's a lot a lot a lot
laws to learn because
the your father you're you're you're the
son of a king. You're a daughter of a
king. You're a prince. You're a
princess. And the king cares about your
prestige very much. So if other people
step on your prestige, they believe in
your prestige, the shame doesn't like
that. So we certainly shouldn't do it to
other people.
Now
suppose
the king's son or daughter gets lost.
They're lost. They go off.
Imagine the reward
that the king is willing to give to get
his beloved son or daughter. You find
his your majesty, I found your lost son.
Your majesty, I found your lost
daughter. What? They come into the
palace. Whatever you ask for you're
going to get.
So
let me take it and put this close to
home.
Heaven forbid, imagine that a child
should be lost.
And we're beside ourselves in grief.
We call the police. We call the rescue
squad. We call the national guard. Who
knows who we call? And we're panicking.
And we send all our friends to to go
search where the where the child was or
where it was. Call the newspapers that
the the the the child is missing.
How are good we to feel
if
someone brings a child back,
Okay. you know how you feel?
That's how Hashem feels when you spread
emunah, when you teach emunah to someone
else, when you teach Noachide laws to
someone didn't know them, when you teach
Hashem loves them that they they they
have
any idea, when you teach the three words
of emunah, when you teach what we
learned tonight, what we learned
tonight, teach that to someone else. Or
even don't don't bother teaching it.
It's enough that you take the MP3, we
have one on beams.com, you can take all
our lessons and download the free MP3s.
We don't charge for it, baruch Hashem,
because we're wonderful sponsors. We
don't charge for spreading emunah. You
can take this and spread it. Hey, my
brother, my sister, did you listen to
this lesson? That's all. You did that,
it's like you did the the
uh outcome is not up to us. Outcome is
up to Hashem. But the fact that we made
the effort to spread emunah, it's as if
we bring Hashem's back lost child. There
is no limit to to no limit to the reward
we get. So, imagine
that you're a child in the war
and you become separated from your
parents because of war.
And you go for years thinking that you
have no parents. This happened in the
Holocaust right and left. And then
suddenly you become reunited with your
parents.
That's what you do when you show a
downtrodden person that he or she has a
loving father in heaven. They're
downtrodden because they don't know that
they've got a loving father in heaven.
They think they have no father in
heaven. But you show them, hey, you're
the king's son, you're the king's
daughter. This is really Show them, you
prove it to them. Wow, that's like
bringing that lost child and bringing
him back to his parents. Just because
you see a person wearing a fancy suit
and carrying this alligator skin
uh James Bond case and and don't think
he's not downtrodden. First could look
very rich. People will walk about the
the facade, the Western facade. And
recently, I've I've had I get lots of
letters from people. Had more than one
letter from people who used to make
fantastic livings in the investment
world
and now they lost all their money.
The value of the dollar going crazy, the
purchasing value, what they they're
pretty particular commodity of dealing
in while it's not interested. People
have lost their jobs because of AI,
artificial intelligence, and people that
had
the people I don't want to say where,
but big house with a swimming pool and a
tennis court
and now they have this tremendous
mortgage they can't pay.
But you can see that they're trying to
keep up the image cuz they have to keep
up the image, keep up the Jones. Guy is
a a lawyer and he has to show he's still
a big roller, is an investment banker,
had to show people he's still a big
roller. So he's driving a fancy Lexus,
but that Lexus is on leasing, it's not
his car.
And they might even be religious.
There's a lot. See, people that are
religious but they don't have a moonah
and they don't know that Hashem loves
them. They're in big trouble.
They're in big trouble that they're
again they're practicing
practicing the commandments of Torah
like a robot, like a Brazilian parrot
with no heart in it.
When a you don't know, when you're not
aware of the fact, when you don't
realize internalize that Hashem loves
you
then they lose taste, there's no taste
for prayer, there's no taste for mitzvah
observance. So what connects us to
Hashem?
Prayer and gratitude. Prayer and
gratitude that we pray that this is the
connection to Hashem because without
prayer and gratitude a person drifts
away from Hashem.
And when he drifts away from Hashem, he
or she loses their vitality and their
energy in life.
They they
not only energy in life, they will live.
Because as soon as a person thinks of
Hashem doesn't matter what situation,
you think of Hashem and you long for
Hashem you become stimulated, become
awakened, and you get new energy. That's
COVID the prophet said that Hashem will
live with you.
Isaiah the prophet said that those who
seek Hashem, they get renewed power. And
that's why people are close to Hashem,
they make do on much less sleep because
their love of Hashem gives so much
energy.
It's they're they're they're on they're
they're moving. They're on a high. Okay,
so easy to understand
example
of a young man and his fiance.
Ah, this guy's looking forward to the
wedding. Oh, is he looking forward to
God as he love that young girl. He loves
that young girl.
Something after they get married and
when honeymoon wears off and the nuance
wears off and all of a sudden he sees
that he squeezes the toothpaste from the
bottom and she squeezes from the top
that drives him crazy.
And I get letters. Yeah, yeah, the
people they're complaining about be like
that. You get letters like that. And I
say, "My brother,
how did you feel when you're engaged?"
How did you feel when you couldn't wait
to next time you saw her? You couldn't
wait to next time you spoke on the
phone. Okay, think about that. Think
about that. Renew that. When we think
about Hashem and think about Hashem's
love for us, we renew that love. So,
it's important like say we care about
each other and we strengthen one
another. And the greatest strengthening
we could do for one another is to remind
each other of remind each other about
how much Hashem loves us. And
it it you get it close to it. The
the solution to all the problem. This is
the remedy to everything like we said at
the beginning. So,
one of the greatest things we could do
on earth is bringing someone else close
to Hashem.
Now, that you
think of the greatest gift you give to a
person,
there's no greater gift than the gift of
emunah.
So, if you want to see miracles,
cherished brothers and sisters, then
start thanking Hashem for everything in
your life. And don't ever forget, don't
ever ever forget how much Hashem loves
you. Put on the sign in room in the
house, "Hashem loves me. Hashem loves
me. Hashem loves me."
And we should pray that all of humanity
get to know Hashem and do what we can to
spread emunah in the world, and it's a
lot easier than you think. All you have
to do is send somebody a link to an
emunah shiur, send somebody a a link to
an emunah book, and turn them on about
that cuz if you want Mashiach to come
without wars and without terror attacks
and without intercontinental
intercontinental
ballistic missiles,
we just went through that not long ago
that the two short months ago.
And then we have to start loving Hashem
unconditionally cuz don't ever forget
that once we deliver Hashem
unconditionally,
Hashem is going to fill all our hearts'
wishes for the very best. He's going to
build the holy temple
here in the land of Israel and rebuild
Jerusalem and bring us Mashiach speedily
in our days. Amen.
