Hatzolah Paramedic Parlor Meeting

[Music] the I have an opportunity to work with and is able to open his house [Music] I'm not as active onul maybe as I was when I was a little younger but I still have an opportunity to go on many calls and there are plenty of our members who are active Waxman told me that the uh the main thrust of the program tonight is our Paramedic program before I take a few minutes to talk about The Paramedic program I find that sometimes it's good for a member of atalah to come out and and describe our feelings and what we go through when we go on calls recently I unfortunately had the opportunity to somebody a father who lost a very young child we were on that call child had no medical history child had nothing wrong young boy there was nothing wrong with the child unfortunately bisha decreed that that child should not live past the 10 the young age of four or 5 years old I remember walking into the house and one or two other members who went went into the house then also and the father as soon as he saw us he started crying he told us how what you did for me what do you say what do you say to a father what do you say to a mother who's burying who just buried a 5-year-old child what do you say you say I'm you try to feel for them they have a us look what they're going through I remember many years ago we had a similar call and and a lot of us had a very hard time members had a hard time going to sleep members had a hard time doing homework with their children was very hard it was hard it's hard to bring this home we spoke we spoke to him we asked them we said how do we go home and feel go we play with our 5-year-old an hour ago two hours ago we were doing CPR in a 5-year-old two now two hours later we're expected to just come back go to work come home do homework with our children sit down at a sh how do you feel this know we feel perhaps maybe we haven't done enough maybe if I would have driven a little bit faster maybe if I would have disregarded one more traffic signal maybe if I would have taken even though I was in middle of something important at work maybe if I were to move just 10 seconds faster maybe I would have made a difference in a child's life sticks with me to this very day and with a lot of our members he told us you are who has decided what is happening with this child don't walk around and think when you save a life when you had a young person and you're able to save the life their hard stopped and you brought them back to life and now you walk around and you say this person has seven children the seven L youon because of me is an Al that's not in now because of me said don't take credit decreed that something should go on in that house that day and you were to perform this Mitzvah and then when things go wrong you don't have to take the full blame and that's a Manion that we live by that's something that we carry with us that's something that we feel just to volunteer 3 years they could go to 3 years they couldn't go to B Mitzvah 3 years they couldn't come to par 3 years they couldn't go away with their three years that is how long it takes before you can go on your first paramedical here in Lakewood those are the protocol and realize what these people gave up it's two to three nights a week every single week going to class on Sundays going to class taking training going for courses takes a lot we have nine people people on out solo who have already gone through the program and are already certified as paramedics we have another five who are currently going through the program recently we were on a call with a young 50-year-old person with no medical history skinny not a smoker not a drinker watches himself Prime candidate for for for having a long life in the medical terms obviously it's called with chest pain he having some ches pain how paramedics got there the people who gave up three years of their life and this is what makes it worth it this is the that makes it worth it they got there they identified what was wrong with him they gave him medication and in less than an hour and a half later he was on the table in Jersey Shore Hospital in surgery and is doing fine now was a recent call this was a recent call where the person told us that the doctor said that it's because of the paramedics who were able to identify the problem who were able to give you the medication who are able to transmit to us what they found that is why you're alive today now of course like I said before like all we're only but in the they save this person's life to save the person's life because like the said before by when it came time to light in they were out taking a medic course when it came time to doing homework with their children they were out doing a medic course when it came time to go to a first cousin's Hass they were out taking a medic course when we all decid that it's a good time to go on vacation to Take 5 days or 6 days and go to Florida or toell wherever it may be they were sitting and thinking of medic course and what are they asking from us from the community they're not asking us to give up 3 years they're asking to help pay for the training they're asking to help pay for the equipment that we need so that we could continue to provide Paramedic Services
