Cabin. Mansion. Cabin. Mansion.
Cabin. Mansion. Cabin. MANSION. CABIN.
MANSION.
HOW Y'ALL DOING?
HAD EITHER A cabin or a mansion, which
one would you take? Do I have a lifetime
supply of wood and it's on a hill?
Yes.
Then cabin any day.
We were just wishing. Yeah. Yeah. Why
you wishing? A lot of money dude. A
million dollars is nothing. You just get
it.
Prove it.
All right, come through.
What can I do for you guys?
Can we borrow a million dollars?
A million dollars?
Yeah.
Do any of you guys have credit score?
We have credit cards.
No. A credit score.
Oh, no. No.
Give me one good reason why I should
give you guys a million dollars.
You're kidding me.
No.
Does this have extra chocolate? Yes,
sir.
[Music]
Not going to lie, this cabin's pretty
sweet. This was a move. Parachuted out
of Haiti.
A Lamborghini
running it over that bridge.
That was insane. Yeah.
By the way, what does that loan do?
I don't know.
Don't know? No.
All right, well.
Hey, you know you could have just rang
the doorbells.
From his facial expressions, he looks
pretty mad.
Yeah.
Where is my money?
[Music]
Guys, can I can I come in now?
Next time when you want to borrow a
million dollars, have a game plan.
Hello there. This is Akiva Balsam from
Kosher Vids, where we bring halacha and
ashgacha to life. Today's amazing
subject is borrowing and lending money.
So, let's get this straight.
It is forbidden to borrow money if you
don't think you're going to be able to
pay back and if you don't pay back, IT'S
AN AVEIRA.
OKAY?
Are you done yet?
No.
And also, if the if the loan is due
and you still can't pay back, you got to
sell your household items, okay?
[Music]
Man,
you got to calm down.
Oh, better.
So why all of the emotion?
Because I'm sure all of you have had the
wonderful experience of lending money to
someone
who just didn't pay back.
And if you don't believe me that this is
a common occurrence, why don't we just
go ask the people? Of course, it happens
all the time. Yeah. Yeah, that would be
a yes. More than this amount and this
amount.
So yeah, a lot. Yeah.
Way too many.
No, but there was this one time a few
weeks ago that I borrowed money and
didn't pay them back.
Um so basically, one time I lent someone
money and they didn't ever pay me back.
Well, the answer to that question Akiva
is yes, I have. Now from my friend Moshe
here, what's he got to say about that?
I I yeah, I'll give give it to you back.
All right, um
So, to all you borrowers out there,
don't borrow money if you don't have a
plan.
Now for the lenders. Hey lenders, if you
think lending money is a nice thing to
do,
you're wrong.
Lending money is an obligation and
there's nothing you can do about it. If
someone asks you to borrow money, you
got to give it to him.
Period. No questions asked.
Hold on one second.
Hello.
Hey, yeah.
Akiva Balsam, Kosher Vids.
Yeah.
Oh.
No, no, no, no, no, I can't. No, I just
can't. Who is that?
It's a guy watching the video live. He
wants to borrow 10,000 dollars.
So give it to him. You just said you
have to. Why don't you practice what you
preach?
Hey, yeah, sure we'll give you the
money. No problem.
Yeah, I was just joking before. You know
how it is.
Yeah, sure. And just remember that here
at Kosher Vids, we always got your back.
Sure, have a good day. Thanks.
The truth is, you're not always
obligated to lend money to someone.
There are two factors that have to be
met in order to be obligated in lending
money. Number one is, you can afford it
and after you lend the money, you can
still live comfortably. Number two is
the person you're lending the money to
is trustworthy to pay back. If both of
these conditions are met, you can afford
it and the person is trustworthy to pay
back, then you have an obligation from
the Torah to lend the money. The mitzvah
to lend money to someone
is much greater
than giving tzedakah because
the person is less embarrassed.
Okay? That's as far as the halachas go,
but the concept behind this whole thing
is incredible. By the Torah obligating
us to lend money to others, it's showing
us its view on money. Money is meant to
be much more than just a means to
fulfill all our personal desires. It's
meant to help out others.
Your money is much less yours than you
think it is. It is preferable
to lend with a written document
or with two
witnesses.
This will prevent
any future misunderstandings,
especially with bigger loans.
Okay? Well, that's it for today and boy,
did we have a good time. Speak for
yourself.
But but did No, the answer is no.
Well, that's it for today and boy, did I
have a good time.
But don't worry cuz we got more Kosher
Vid goodies coming up in the future,
including the halachas of a duck getting
stuck in a zoo before shabbat without a
cell phone.
That's not true.
Oh.
[Applause]
[Music]
Hello and welcome to another one of
y'alls
Oh well, the answer to that question is
yes, I have. Now from my friend Moshi
here, I'm not sure so I'll have to hand
it over to him for the answer to that
question. That happened?
[Music]
You were only right.
