I once had the opportunity to take a
very special jus one of my rub am one of
my most prestigious rabbis that i know
and i had the opportunity to take him to
a cemetery to visit the grave of his his
rabbi and it was a boiling hot day and
we were going to Bnei Brak bnei brak and
it's kind of like the Sahara Desert
maybe like Death Valley there's a lot of
heat there might not say that on the
thermometer but when you're there you
feel it trust me especially if you don't
have hair because then you get sunburned
easily your head turns like red like a
tomato and everybody knows you were in
the Sun so we went and we went to the
grave of his rabbi and we prayed there
and as we were walking out it was a
breeze a wind draft wafted through the
air and the rabbi said and Yiddish I
left the air it's a present from God now
I'll be honest with you I was very hot
and the air really felt good but I was
more in the mood of getting into an
air-conditioned car with a nice diet
coke and the rabbi said we have to
appreciate a little breeze is a present
from God we may not look at it like that
but it's so important to realize God is
everything God creates everything God
does everything little things and big
things alike when something like that
happens we don't want to see it
we may not realize it but that is
literally God saying I know it's rough
for you but here take some air here take
a drink a few months ago I turned on the
sink in my house and brown water started
coming at guey if he I don't know better
adjective for it but if he was the bet I
don't know if that's in the dictionary I
don't know if Miriam Webster came up
with that one but it was disgusting I
don't know what happened and for a few
seconds it was putrid water obviously I
didn't drink it thank God but sometimes
when we turn on the sink and good water
clean water comes out we don't
appreciate how easy God makes it for us
to take a drink to prove the point look
back in history you wanted to drink
somebody had to go out down to the river
a few miles away get a big bucket bring
it back and now shy made it easy you
just turn on the sink little things that
are really big small miracles that are
huge miracles to appreciate the goodness
and the kindness RM and everything
literally all the things that we do all
the things that we can do all the things
that help us along the way are there
gosh m wanted us to have it if a person
is able to think of a way to explain
something for example for example such a
simple concept I'm saying the words for
example and now i'm going to give an
example now I thought of that example
how did I think I don't just popped into
my head I'm breaking it down for
somebody I'm breaking it down into a
more an easier way that's easier to
conceptualize where I come up with that
from that's right God is speaking to me
and I can make things easier for you and
truth God speaking to you too if a
person would realize all the goodness
and all the kindness and all the small
miracle
that exists in the world for his benefit
that would help him see the hand of a
ship that would help him relate to God
in a much deeper in a much more open
fashion there are some of the things
that we don't even realize we take
completely for granted without
appreciating this is really I should
there are so many things in our
day-to-day lives all we have to do is
open our eyes try to see it try to
appreciate it a very special man once
told me that he wants me to keep a
notebook of the small things that God
has given me every day the boosts what's
called in Hebrew it's called physic
gives you a little energy a little push
to go further little reminders that I
Shem says like I got you back wants me
to write them down and he said at the
beginning you'll have one or two a day
but you're gonna see how many things
there are in your life that God says I
got you i'm with you i'm taking care of
you whether it's something that your
children do that makes you happy
something like the air just being cool
nice weather hashem wants you to enjoy a
sham wants you to benefit sometimes you
have something like cholent cholent is
the famous typical Jewish shabbos meal
it's potatoes and beans and barley and
meat it's not a stool it's showing
there's no other way to explain it I
invite you all if you haven't tasted it
yet please look me up I think I'm on the
internet if I'm not scream loud enough
I'll hear you you gotta taste a child
you put it in a crock-pot you let it
cook for about 24 hours you eat it you
let it go into your stomach that takes
about another 24 hours and then it's an
enjoyable thing
but it doesn't always come out the same
sometimes it does sometimes it doesn't
you know why I don't know why either but
when it does come out show appreciation
when something sometimes you take a
drink and for some reason just satiates
your thirst Shem wants you to feel good
wants you to feel good about yourself
somebody gives you a compliment and that
compliment helps you through today that
compliment somebody comes over and says
you know what you're a great guy and you
just you have so much confidence you
feel so so great you go through the
whole day and you feel awesome and then
of course at the end of the day the guy
says it was a mistake I was talking to
somebody else but when you feel that
boost of energy a sham wanted you to
have that somebody walks over to you in
the street and says a nice word a kind
word you got to be appreciative to the
person who said it but also be
appreciative to the one who sent him it
doesn't just happen randomly to happen
at this time i once sent an email to
somebody a therapist a therapist that i
had referred somebody to this therapist
a student of mine i referred him to a
certain therapist for therapy that was
about four years ago and i met this
student who had already finished therapy
and gone on and built a great life let's
say two years ago and he told me you
know that therapist you sent me to she
really helped me change my life so I
wrote an email to this person and I said
I met so and so and he said you really
helped him change your life and I got an
email back and this therapist said to me
you don't know how important how much I
needed that email how much I needed that
to feel self confidence how much I
needed that to get through my my life
right now I'm having a difficult time
and I really really needed that do you
know how much I said you know how much
kindness God
has done in that little email number one
he helped me meet this individual number
to the individual happened to remember
that I was the one who referred him he
happened to tell me that it changed his
life I happened to email her and she
happened to need it at that point God is
in everything God is there for us God is
there to help us to guide us along and
to make it easier for us all the
benefits and all the pleasures that we
have is a sham sayin I want you to enjoy
my son take one have a good time enjoy
yourself benefit from what I want you to
have but what we need to do what our job
is to say thank you thank you God for
everything you give me I want to see
your hand in every aspect of what you
give me even the small things don't
sweat the small things benefit from the
small things thank God for the small
things because they're all there from
him to us
you
