If we I mean 8:39 we actually beat the other lecture. So, we're pretty doing pretty good. If you would see, I you know, I actually was about to be on time. By the way, according to all the plans, everything was perfectly align. I was I was, you know, you got to ask Elvina. She's like she she's she's running the show behind the scenes. She she's my proof that I was supposed to be on time. And I was like, "No, no, today I'm going to surprise the crowd. We're going to start on time." and and sure enough 8:39 so it's going to be a very powerful lecture just because of the topic I think it's enough but without further ado we have a lot more what to talk about so we're going to start the lecture I want to dedicate it to Ysef Mat and Angela young man passed away a few years ago tonight it is hisitem should have mercy on histo and every other. I'm starting to So 3 hours of this >> you you're from Florida. >> So but in Florida they have air conditionings. >> So So yeah, I'm going to be in Florida uh in the end of September. I'm going to be in Florida. So, uh, yeah. Yeah, I know. Florida just came from Nevada and Phoenix and Los Angeles and Nevada. Wow. I I went outside to the porch where I was staying and I had like a a a bottle of water. I left it outside for 2 minutes. I came back. It was warm. It's like unbelievable. I mean, I live in Israel. I know what heat is. But, uh, I'll take the heat anytime over the cold. Uh, Um, we uh chose a very powerful topic tonight which I thought will draw much more people mainly because that's one of the biggest questions that most people ask me is uh how do I know the path that I walk on if it's the right path and how do I really know what's my path what how do I know what's my purpose in this world or all all these questions nobody can come and tell you oh you to do A, B, and C. But nevertheless, that's really the biggest question that anyone needs to if not know the answer, but at least ask the questions. So about I don't know give or take about 15 years ago, I had a business adventure and I shared this story many many times, but many haven't heard it. And for the ones of you who did, you're going to get refreshed and a different angle of the story. But about 15 years ago, I had a bold idea of a great website, something that the the interesting is that they don't even have it today yet. And I had this bold idea because after I got married, and I'll explain more into the lecture, my profession was I was a photographer. I was a wedding photographer which was a great endeavor for me because was right after I got married and I would take two, three, four weddings a month and the rest of the month sit and learn Torah. So I was able to learn seven years in yeshiva and not only support myself but support myself. Nice. I made a lot of money. So you see when Hashem wants something to happen you know when you really want something to happen I wanted to sit and learn. sashem gave me parasa in unbelievable sheffa and I was able to sit for seven years I learned and here and there worked. So throughout the because of the profession I had this bold idea to the photography niche and I had a lot of money and I decided to go and do this uh this website this software and I found this individual who was supposedly a very good programmer. we got into a engagement. He understood the project and we started of course was the price growth and all that stuff and we started working and you know um with great anticipation the first month second month third month after 3 months I'm expecting to see something I also we had some type of a term how it's going to come how it's going to evolve to make a long story short nothing was ready nothing was happening months after month and more money and more and this and that don't ask a year into the development and somehow I don't even know how I didn't get already focused much before that but I I I'm invested so much and I have nothing literally nothing anyways we get into an argument and he keeps blaming me you keep changing you keep I I keep changing this is the what we decided in in the beginning anyways he failed to to do his job and another month goes and another month goes and more charges eventually at some point I was invested in this whole uh adventure over a quarter of a million dollars. And what did I have in return? A headache. Nothing. And then at some point I was like, "Okay, at least if you didn't build this part, build this part. I'll start marketing." We were trying like this and like that. And at some point I understood the guy's not going to do it. And then of course we got into an argument. You didn't do it. Where's all the money? But you know how business is. And uh needless to say it evolved into a greater argument to like really to a point of like a big argument. We're talking a lot of money and much more than that. Now I was facing in this challenge a certain challenge which I shared with many of you. The fact is that the that person was a individual that lived in our community. It wasn't some offshore Indian that I can scream at him or sue him or well not the offshore but nevertheless a person from our community more than that it wasn't such a big community I was the individual was the only levie in our minan so that means that I had to call him up to the Torah four times a week and give him a blessing while I really want to choke him and the great test was not to slander, not to gossip, not to start telling it to everybody, not to get angry, not to cut his head off. I mean, there was like bigness, you know, here. I was going like half a year through an unbelievable test from all directions. First of all, the financial part and then just the the we'll call now the spiritual part which was not to gossip and not to get angry and not to look for revenge because the ones who were not connected tell him he saw him this is a lawsuit. So I I had such an ission with not to lose my temper and not to lose was a huge huge test and I shared that part of the story many many times the part that I didn't share of this story is that it brought me into a greater doubt in my path. Am I on the right path? Hashem brought me all the way till the to the to the moment, gave me the money, gave me the idea, gave me the desire, gave me a horrible programmer, and then it didn't work. Now, now the question is, forget about the Nissan. I'm telling you that the Nison, the test, how to deal with the situation was one of the hardest I ever had in my life. First of all, not to violently go down and rip his head off, and I'm not joking. He got me so angry to a point that we were going backwards and forth. And then for like a month or two, there was quiet. And then he sends me a message. Wow. That I still owe him $30,000 for the last few months of development. And at this point, I wanted already to really go down and choke him. No joking. And then to hold on, not to gossip about him, not to tell anyone. And people knew, people were asking, you know, what's with the project? Yeah, everything's fine. Everything's okay. Not to get angry. And then Hashem, Hashem, when he wants to test you, wow, this individual moved to my building. Every morning the elevator opens. Ding. And Mr. Schmo is there like, I'll take the stairs. I'll see you in Shul in 10 minutes. Can you imagine on a test and there was many other aspects in there that that was a great great great test a for my patience and not to get angry and not to get even and greater of all the you know what it is to shut your mouth when you you fuming and with that came other tests and so many different things. But the ultimate test or the ultimate crossroad that this endeavor birthed is that it made me wonder maybe I'm not on the right path. Now bear in mind that this is about don't catch me on the year about seven years into my chuva. Okay? Seven, eight years into my chuva. I'm a young man. I got married very quickly after I did chuva. Very quickly Hashem blessed me with kids. I got busy very very quickly with my life in a way that you know my story right I had a near-death experience one year that I started doing chuva which was probably the hardest year of my chuva getting rid of all my bad habits getting rid of all the loose ends really starting to make a huge change in my life and there was still no yamakit feeling nothing there was just me turn changing my behavior my how I think everything. Then I go to jail for two years. That's where I do chuva and not in a nice yeshiva with a rabbi and air conditioning. And I did chuva on the floor bleeding. Now when I come out of jail, you most of you will know the story. I'm just recapping it. I come out of jail, I meet my rabbi, I started learning, and a few months later, I'm already, you know, full force into my chuva. And everything happened very, very fast. Right away I met my wife very quickly. I got married very quickly. I we had my our first child. First year of my life I was just learning Torah. And sorry not first year of my life. First year of my married life I was learning Torah. My wife says you sit and learn Torah. I will work. We were poor like unbelievably poor. And Hashem was testing us then. But you know regular challenges of somebody who starts their path and after a while that I was married and I shared all these stories but I want to kind of put it all together because it will give you a very very clear perspective of the concept of what I'm trying to say. A year, a year and a half into my marriage, we are invited to some wedding, some ba chuva, very small wedding. My rabbi calls me, "Can you come? There's barely any people. There's barely a minan here." Okay, we get a few people. We do the and the gives me a video recorder like this big and he says, "Can you record just the kupa that I have a memory?" I took my uh task very seriously. I ended up filming the whole wedding, which I enjoyed. When I was a teenager, when I was in one of my schools, I learned cinematography and video editing. I always that was my niche. So, at the end of the wedding, he was so excited. He's like, "Wow, you had a you have I can't believe I have a video of my entire wedding. Wow. Wow. Wow. Wow." And then he gives me as a as a I don't I don't know. He's like, he's like, "Uh, maybe you should open a photography studio." Now, we were so poor. I have sometimes such funny stories. I mean, when you when you are poor, it's not fun. And you look back, it's like, we were so poor. My wife would call people, invite ourselves for Shabbat. You having guests this Shabbat? But nevertheless, I would learn Torah most of the day. My wife would come to the yeshiva. I would come out with the dinner that they serve in the yeshiva and we would sit on the bench and eat together. And we were really, really, really poor. And why am I saying that? Because suddenly my wife says, you know, that's a good idea. Maybe you become a photographer. And as I said, not once and not twice, what the Torah says to whatever your wife Sah tells you, listen to her because she's a greater prophet than you. So I took my wife serious and the next day I was a photographer. I went and brushed up on some techniques. I found Adorama in the city. You rent equipment. Chick check. I had business cards. The next day I was a photographer. everybody. Oh, I didn't know. Oh, yeah. Yeah. For years. Year years. And then I got my first gig, so to say, was my friend. I told him, I'll do the pictures. And I kind of like very quickly tried to build some uh book a few friends. I said, I'll do the the the the weddings for you. And you know what? Within a year, everything started blooming. The stories. And I shared it many many times that they were we were so poor that one yum kipur I took on myself first of all to give myself the 10% of what I make as much as I was poor and more than that I shared that story many times with the aliyah in mina of yonipur with the mirona remember this aliyah I it cost me $770 and that year I made 70,000 $77,000 a hund times more. Exactly like with Jacob. You give m you do whatever you need to do. Hashem is going to fulfill what needs to happen. It's unbelievable. So it really was like that. And that summer the yeshiva where I used to learn they used to go every summer to the catscales and we used to go with them. I wasn't really a part of the yeshiva but I didn't want to go to like an official coil. I wanted to stay with my rabbi. So I it was me and a few other married men. We were stayed in the sashiva and we would go the whole summer the whole summer. No phones. There was no service there. No internet. Just Torah from morning to night. 6:00 in the morning. We had a river there. Go dip in the river. Learn Torah till 10:00 at night. You finish and after you come down, breakfast is on the table. Go back to learning. Time for dinner is on the table. Ganed. I'm telling you, Ganadan, no phones, nature, 40 students, and a few rabbis. So that summer, I really took on myself learning. Anyways, I did what I needed to do to align myself with the kadosh bahu. And you know what? Lo and behold, the next year the business, I came back from that summer, I had 13 orders for weddings, had enough money from deposits to buy equipment, and boom. And that year, boom, $77,000. 1000 times exactly more what I paid to be called up to the Torah of Tiona after. And I'm telling you, it took me a year to pay that $770. I mean, we really didn't have money. And then after the first year, second year, business became better and better and better. And not only that, everything started going in a very smooth way. Another child comes, another child comes, business is grow, excuse me, is growing. My spirituality is growing. I'm telling you, I learned in in Yeshiva all day. And sometimes I would do two weddings a month. And then you have months like that. You don't have any weddings. The whole omare, you know, the ser. So I really worked x amount of days a day in the west. You still learn to gives me from everything. So everything started to work out. I have another child. Paramasai is good. We're saving money. We're ready to maybe buy a house. Everything is going good. Now when everything goes good in your life, especially your spiritual growth, you ask any questions, you complain to the to the master of the universe. You just thank him all day long. Now this uh you know little came after maybe uh five six years of torture. It didn't come after it came after a lot of tears time in jail the whole period after that years of being poor. I mean it's not that I didn't get that break right away. It was years but nevertheless no questions asked because nothing seems to be wrong and then that event happened that I told you with a failed adventure with the program with the software now besides the nission of controlling my anger and besides the nayon of not opening my mouth and not being angry forget about everything just don't be angry can you imagine the nissan of forgiving that person bringing to yourself in your mind to a place you that you completely mo to this person when you have all the reasons in the world to to hate to curse to resent and needless to say to slander and to gossip and very difficult nion and the nission rippled to my wife because it was all the same group of people so she also had to zip her mouth but a Much greater question was born from this event. Maybe I'm not on the right path. First hiccup on the path for the last six, seven years the path was okay. Everything seemed well at every two years a kid went and grew. I'm sitting and learning Torah all day long. I already reached levels in my learning of Torah that I was satisfied with my own learning Torah. This is after two years of the first two years in yeshiva that I didn't understand nothing sitting and learning all day long and like a cement head not understanding nothing was already a level of frustration I don't understand I'm reading it I don't understand I already got to a point that life is good I'm married I have kids I have time to learn dua it's like a dream come No. And not only that, the the what's the word the the what we thought what what the business model showed that if that uh software would have gone out we had a whole business model how much money it's going to bring revenue this would have been like a something gigantic and more than that in my the back of my mind I was like you know how many jobs I can give to people from the community Now at that time I was doing so well in parasa that the next year I took on myself to give 20%. So that business even it became much better to a point and I was mash I'm telling you I was making so much money. So with money you pay 20% 20%. So I was giving and giving and that was really the time of my chuvine. If you remember, I told you how one of the rabbis told me for all the stealing and embezzling that I did, how he told me to feed people on Shabbat. Remember I told you that hundred times? That's where all the money came from. I suddenly money. I would go quietly to synagogues in Shabbat to buy $2,000 worth of coke cuts and alcohol and put it next to the synagogue. Nobody knows who it is. So, I was very My mind was, okay, that's my purpose. I'm I am a businessman. I know how to make money. I have good ideas. I'm going to be a baka. That's what Hashem wants for me. Give me a lot of money. I will just, you know, help with money. I don't need much for myself. And then cames this event that now I'm questioning. Oh, maybe it's not the path I need to go on. Maybe Hashem doesn't want me to be a businessman. Maybe Hashem wants me to do something else in my life. I mean, such a disaster. Maybe a little hiccup in the business, but such a disaster. That money is long gone. Of course, I of I understood in my mind, I was fine with it. I understood that Hashem took that amount, which is a percentage, a fraction of the amount that I stole. So, it's not even mid. It's not even measured to measure. Hashem told me, "I'm giving here a 90% discount cuz you're not going to be able to raise the money to give back to what you stole and embezzled and cheated." I understood this is a huge tikun. And from that huge tikun, this turning point was born the question, maybe I'm not on the right path. Maybe my path is not to be because my dream, as I mentioned to you many, many times, my dream, if if it was not up to me, you would even know me. You would never even hear of Rabbi and Nava if it was up to me. I would sit and learn Torah all day long with myself as I mentioned not once and not twice. I would go to some mountain with a goat, learn Torah. I don't need this whole thing. I don't want it. I didn't ask for it. Don't take it the wrong way. I don't like it so much. Come and follow me. Be with me for one day and you'll see. I mean listen I'm saying it in the perspective of the regular alone let's call it okay you think I ever thought I will be a public speaker from all of my trades and all of my qualities that shem is like he has it's not even a sense of humor at this point she is like like it's like everything against my personality is that what I need to do. So it's not my choice. If it was my choice, I wasn't planning on being a heretic was after my cha my plan. I sit I have money I learned to I wanted to learn Torah to in depth to how do you say enlarge in my depth. What do you say to broaden my my knowledge? I had of course and I had dreams and aspiration. and I want to finish this m I want to do this. I want to finish the whole thing I had in my mind I need to do this and that. Let me have some set income and I'm doing good and I'm going to learn Torah. And bear in mind that by the way in that seven years that I'm learning Torah and building a business I also spoke and taught Torah. It wasn't that I was in the shadow. It was just not on YouTube yet. But I very quickly after I got married I would do lectures. That was that was like a a given but for me it was like a you know part of my you know part of my part of my part of my okay so once a week I do a sh once every two weeks I I'm invited to a lecture so after this event a big question was born is maybe I'm not going on the right path and needless to say needless to say that that birthed many more questions and events that made me wonder more even maybe it's not my path maybe I'm not doing the right thing maybe cuz after that was a chain of events that it really brought me to a place that the parnasa was not already that good and things were starting to get hard in life another baby less parnasa more issues and suddenly the of life started then one time somebody invited me out of nowhere to do an event, a lecture in Los Angeles. And this was really one of the first times that somebody flew me out to an event. I would do classes here in the shores and in the synagogues. And this person flew me to Los Angeles and I did three events. And not only on that on these three events they took me here and took me there and that for three days it was the first time that I was officially Rabbi Anava. That was the first time because prior to that I didn't care if there's a title. I even remember then I changed in my email to Rabbi Anava. Somebody said told me oh congratulations you got your I told him I got my five years ago. He said, "What? What?" He said, "Well, I don't need to write rabbi that the title doesn't mean anything besides me. Rabbi, give me another 50 years, then call me a rabbi." But nevertheless, that was the first time that I was an officially rabbi and I had two unbelievable lectures. Now, this was the beginning, the beginning of the beginning. So hole was packed and for two three days I was on a high that I never felt not on some illegal substance and I came back. You know how in certain communities they will more relate to that. I came back. I was just like you know what means lights. You know, you get revelations. You you you you get a spiritual high. You walk like like this. You're actually high. And I came back from Los Angeles like so excited, so pumped up. I came to my wife, don't ask. And this and that. And I And this is like imagine now you half of you come to lectures. So you know the you know the drill. I'm late. There's a lecture then questions and answers. Then everybody's asking me questions. And then at 3:00 in the morning, I leave and everybody's asking me questions from here to tomorrow. I just have a little question, Rabbi. 72 mill minutes later, I'm like, "Yeah, yeah, yeah, yes, you're right." And I think you should say, you know, this was one of the first times, so I wasn't used to having 400 people standing in line and asking me questions. And not only that, I was like on fire. I was like I felt like a character kid. You know that Daniel Laruso >> that he was doing wax on and wax off for so long and then came the moment and because I was like asked questions and I was like shooting answers and I was like you know flooring myself because you know I consumed so much Torah it never was processed and and given out and suddenly I'm like unbelievable like I'm every answer I'm like laying nailing Unbelievable. So, needless to say, I came back home. I was like in some high. Wow. Wow. Then came another incident. If you remember, some of you who follow me, the trip I had to Montana. I don't remember if there's a specific lecture online with the word Montana to tell you where to go. But I had an adventure going to Montana. Something not normal, out of this world. One of the weirdest tests I ever had in my 22 years of Chuva journey. You're looking at me like, "What?" Montana. So, let me give you in two minutes what happened in Montana. >> I was a photographer. Somebody hired me to do a wedding in Canada. I booked my flight. It was some little town in Canada, not like a big city like Montreal or or Toronto. And I had to fly one place and then fly to Utah and from Utah to Anyways, we're sitting on the plane, something happens. Engine turns down and uh sorry, we are uh something wrong with the engines. We're going to have a delay. Waiting, waiting, waiting, waiting. And at this point, I'm like, I'm going to miss my connection flight. Now, this is not like a JFK. you missed your flight, you have another 122 flights after that. This was like some little airport in Utah. The the next flight is the next day. And I'm waiting and waiting and okay, finally the engines go on everything where I'm reading tim plane takes off. I'm like then turbulence, bad weather, this that we have to go different route. I'm like no, no, no, no, no. Missing the connection flight. That's how I I was always like that. And I land. Of course, I need the next flight. They tell me the next day. I'm said I can the next day. I'm the photographer of the wedding. I need to be the next day in the hoopa. Okay. We can fly you to Seattle. We can fly you here. We can fly you there. And then they tell me, uh, okay, some other person comes and says, wait a minute, which city do you need? So I said, the city, I don't remember the name. So he says, why don't you fly to Callispel, Montana? And I'm like, what's what's there? He's like, "It's only 150 mi away and you can rent a car and drive." And I'm like, "Ah, amazing." I get on the flight, I land. It's not really an airport. It's really like a road that they converted for planes to land there. And there's like a little booth maybe big the size of the entrance of this shul. And we land there in Callispel, Montana. I go out of the plane, you know, you go out of the plane, you're like on the runway, you know, the engine like the and you walk in and like and I'm telling you, maybe it took like 10 seconds. Everybody disappeared and I'm like standing there. It's like 1:00 in the morning. I have like seven boxes of all my equipment and I'm like, where the am I? So I called I called Balabai, the the father of the groom. She tells me, "Where are you? What's going on?" Cuz I kept telling him. So I told him, "I'm in Callisville, Montana." He's like, "What?" I'm like, "Why? It's only 150 miles away. I'm just going to rent a car here." He started laughing. He's like, "Rent a car?" He's like, "There's no car rentals in Call, Montana. That's how small this town is." And needless to say like you idiot. Who told you 150 miles? He's 150 aerial miles >> to drive. You have to go through the Rockies and it's about 400 miles. Will take you about 9 hours driving in the snow. And then he tells me, "Wait for a second." He calls me back after 20 minutes. He says, "Listen, there's a friend of ours who lives about 45 minutes away from you. He's coming to the wedding. He's going to pick you up and at like around 3:00 a.m. and you're going to drive directly. You're going to come to the Koopa. I get to the hotel. I had like maybe two hours to wash up to to to you know kind of. And then the guy comes and picks me up 3:00 in the morning. I see I look in the car. I see like this kidic guy but with a cowboy hat. How it sir? Much oblig. Anyways, we started driving. We drove I don't know like me like like maybe like eight eight hours, nine hours. Now, there wasn't time to stop. So, I was praying shahit in the car. So, after two hours of driving, I started praying when he stopped to fuel a dich curves and snow and the drive was breathtaking. And we're talking I'm meeting this man. And it happens to be we find so much things in common but unbelievable things and well we became friendly and all that and finally we get to the border and I'm telling you you never saw such a border if terrorists wants to come into this country all they need to go is to call Montana you can come here with nuclear weapons through that border it's like in the middle of nowhere there's like a little little hut and some Nazi sits there and then when I come I stop comes comes out to me blue eyes like I'm telling you like this Nazi looks at me and the other guy all bearded kipot everything where are you heading where are you going what are you doing I mean because you know maybe once every 3 weeks somebody passes there so they can't believe somebody passes there like who's the idiot who's driving here you must do something illegal if you coming through this passage you must have something illegal no everything is good with There's nothing illegal. Give us our passports. Give us your passports. We're waiting, waiting, waiting. Then we get a call. Come in. I'm like, oh, here we go. So, he starts asking the other guy, "You have anything illegal in the car?" And he tells him, "No." Happens to be that he was bringing all the alcohol to the wedding. >> And he also brought them religious books. So he had like maybe 50 books which is to the Canadians that's already commercial. Uh that's commercial. You're not bringing a book. And my heart is pumping. I I don't like this situation. Then they come to me and he takes me into another room and he's like, "Were you ever arrested?" >> Okay, here goes the wedding. To make a long story short, they deny both of us to enter. They turn us around. Go back to the US. Now I have to call the the wedding. We we're supposed to be there in a few hours. No wedding. Lucky for me, there was a professional photographer in the community who wanted to take pictures of the wedding. The bride didn't want him. She wanted me. So now the other guy got his break. He did the wedding. Anyways, everything worked out perfectly. Just that we missed the wedding. And then this guy brings me back to Montana. Now I have to catch a flight back. And I come to Montana and I'm like, I mean, you bring me all the way up here. I didn't eat for two days because there was nothing to eat. I thought I'm going to come straight to the to the to the the the family. And the tests that I had, I don't want to share right now. Some of them are not rated R. They're rated very R. I mean, you can't even imagine how the Satan appeared, what he did. And and I was like, come on. So at some point I call my wife and I tell her everything and she tells me did you put fill in today? I'm like no come on. She was like maybe the guy next to you didn't put fill in. I said he put it fill in. She was like maybe somebody needs to put fill in. I'm like why are you bringing that fine po? After a while my wife tells me I think you need to put fill in on somebody. Anyways, long story short, uh I a few other uh details here. Doesn't matter what just to make the story short, I understood that I landed in Montana in a town that they barely even have an airport there that I have to find a Jew. I made all this said not for nothing must be a Jew that I need to meet and affect his life. So I started asking people first of all we went to a hotel and I check in and the lady's name is Schwarz and I'm like oh Schwarz check and I'm like oh Schwarz you Jewish. She's like oh no I'm so sorry. The ners always apologize. I'm so sorry I'm not Jewish. I said you have nothing to apologize. It's not your fault. But nevertheless she's like no no I'm so sorry I'm not Jewish. My husband although is. I'm like ah great. Where is your husband? Well, he died 10 years ago. And I'm like, okay, that's not going to help me much. Maybe your husband had a your husband had a brother or a cousin or some distant relative. No. So, I started asking around, "Is there Jews here?" And I'm like, "No, you I think you have the law wrong, Lord." But it's right your right right direction. But nevertheless, suddenly we get to the airport and there was some uh whatever uh uh delays. Kamuan as usual have to be delays. And as I'm going out of the car, I told you that the airport is the size of the shoe. So I see the people who do the check-in and the plane is there. And then I rush into the hotel and I see Larry and Larry looks at me and he starts crying. He starts he's balling. Now the driver's like, "Praise the Lord." Now he starts cry. He calls his wife. You don't have a whole drama going on. And I'm like, "Larry, don't ask. I I came all the way here for you." So he cries even more. Took me like half an hour to calm him down. And I'm like, "Listen, you got to shut up already. I have a flight in a few hours. Let's get business done here." And then he tells me how he was Jewish. Uh he did a beritzvah. This time I was like telling to my wife we're moving to Montana. I'm going to open a synagogue in Montana. There's 300 Jews there and I'm going to be their rabbi. And my wife is with me. So first we have to understand what's the concept of a purpose. Why do I need a purpose? Why did I come here? What do I need to do here? serve. >> Of course, we need to serve Hashem. Needless to say, it's your part to understand that, find that out, and pursue it. That's the second part. The first part is what you're going to concentrate on tonight is understanding and not only understanding but also making it part of your entire outlook that you understand that you are now a doll. Most people don't know. Most people in the world of the Torah, they know to pray. They know how to eat kosher. They know to learn Torah. They know many good things. No focus at all on on refining your characteristics, which is a major part of your tikun. So everybody around you will cater what you need to do, which is part of my purpose. Sometimes your purpose has nothing to do with physical or or material success and you're going to be a regular person that has a regular job that lives a regular life. Who says that's your purpose? Your purpose is to refine yourself. So, Hashem is going to bring you all the situations including the poverty or the lack of money and the annoying wife and the challenge kid and the annoying mother-in-law and everything else that you can start refining yourself. Learning to forgive people, learning to shut up, learning not to gossip, learning to control your anger, learning to control your your words, refining yourself. If you don't know how to refine yourself, what are you doing in this world? The main thing that I'm focusing on in my life is refining myself. I learn dua, I pray, I do everything. But my main focus is how do I refine myself? And every encounter that Hashem puts in front of me, that's a challenge to refine myself. In this challenge, hold your breath. Don't get angry. In this challenge, don't say anything. In this challenge, you heard juicy. Stop it right away. You don't don't ask for the information. You have challenges like that 100 a day. And a lot of them is just testing your characteristics. If you're going to lose the temper or not going to lose the temper, are you going to be patient? Are you going to be understanding? Are you going to forgive real quick? How you going to deal with this situation? And 99% of the time you fail by the way because you don't see that as part of the challenge as part of your task. So first of all and most important one needs to understand that there's a path I need to walk on and that path means there's a certain amount of things that I need to do whether it's certain amount of mitzvot certain amount of Torah that I learn I need to fulfill certain things in the gate of incarnation explains that most people when they first come to incarnate it's not because they sinned in the previous life and now they have to fix it that comes after 40 incarnations in the beginning is is that a person comes and gets incarnated again because they didn't fulfill all the mitzvot. There's a few others. But we can't do that. So you keep coming back here to fulfill what you didn't do the last time. Shm says, "I'll give it to you in installments." The problem comes that when you come here, you also sin. So the next time you come, you have what you didn't finish the last time plus the sins now. And Hashem has much less expectations from you than you think. By the way, it's very good and noble from you that you have some discipline to be harsh on yourself and to but Hashem has much less expectations from you. The expectations he has is to do the minimum and to try to do what you need to do in this world. The problem with most people and that's what I told this individual yesterday. I said most people they don't understand that this world is an investment. You have a few years to be here like walking through this corridor and whatever you do in this world you're taking to eternity. Most people didn't internal internalize that because if they you would internalize that you would understand that you rather learn Torah for one hour than being on Instagram. And you would rather spend your time involved in some kindness, charity, helping than being on YouTube or Tik Tok or whatever junk you are. Those four people that night went very, very far away. And what was burn born from that night. But nevertheless, 7 hours I was there. 3:00 in the morning, I was driving back home. I put in the GPS exactly an hour. My mind is about to explode. You know, it's seven hours to answer people's questions and to convince them and to show them and to show them like this and like that. The humility that I was able to apply in that encounter brought me to understand okay very clearly by the way we're ready to change path on my track. You know how the train goes for miles and miles and miles and then meets the fork and the train goes here. I understood very clearly in that encounter and it took a lot of power of chuva and a lot of resistance. And I'm telling you it was one of the hardest challenges I had in the last 22 years. And when I matured and so to say uh graduated the challenge I understood that a huge upgrade is coming and sure enough shortly after a huge upgrade came spiritually. Suddenly I became not a regular observant man. Suddenly I was rabbi pum everything changed. Suddenly I have a reach. People listen, they learn. I'm I'm influencing people. Total different level of spirituality. My audem changed completely in a level that's exactly what I was became 40. That's exactly when I became when I went to Israel. My spiritual level I had such an upgrade. Such an upgrade. I felt the spiritual elevation from which level to which level I can't tell you. But I knew for no doubt from 125 levels of the the climbing that the soul needs to do. I said this was a huge jump. You want to compare it to the to the snakes and ladders that I told you before the board of the stakes of the ladders have a hundred spots on it. You have a certain amount of days in your life. You roll the dice and the dice tells you four. You go one, two, three, four. If you roll the dice and this is the mazal, you know, rolling the dice is luck. You can't tell the dice what number you want. You can blow air on it. You can go like this. You can do whatever you want. You cannot tell the dice what to do. It's mazal. You know what mazal means? What hashem wants. So you roll the dice on the snakes and ladder board. Either you're lucky and you fall on the ladder. You go up in your level. You jump a few levels ahead. You don't do anything. You don't sin. And you don't do mitzvot. And sometimes you can get to number 97 and there's a snake there and you go all the way down to number two. That's your life. Up, down, up, down, up, down. Look for opportunities. You want to land on the on the on the ladders, not to land on the snakes. You know when the ladders are great. I send you notice notifications when to pray and to say what. You know why? That's a ladder. It's not nothing else but a ladder. It's a day when I say it's a powerful day because it's a ladder. It means that if you roll the dice in your intention to fall on that ladder, you will use that ladder. You will be ignited to the next level and you just need to fall. Be careful not to roll the dice and fall on the snake cuz you're going to go back. That's that's how I see the this world. Just roll the dice the right way. Now, since it's mazal, you don't even know where Hashem wants you to go. So your your understanding is that I need to walk on the path where Hashem wants me to go. Very simple. Very simple. Now once I walk on the path, you reach to the ultimate success. By default, you'll be happy. By default, you'll be satisfied. You'll be content. You won't fall into despair when things go wrong. You don't have solution to the situation. In most cases, Hashem, it presents a situation. Now, you need to figure out how to do it. And in most of the occasions, you don't have the solution. So, when I bring myself to a place to understand that I am I'm a Hashem, Hashem wants me to do things. I don't know what. So, focus yourself. Align yourself with the light of Hashem. He will tell you what to do. Now that brings to the next parts that one needs to understand. First I hope I was clear enough that you need to leave this door tonight to understand. It's a switch in your in in your understanding. Some people do it instant. Some people need to work on that. But your entire understanding is needs to be that I have no control of everything. Nothing is in my control. Nothing. Not how much money I'm going to make, no who I'm going to marry, if she's going to be a good wife, not good wife, who's going to be my in-laws, how healthy I'm going to be, who where my kids are going to go. So first thing one needs to understand when you leave the door tonight is that you have zero control over anything and that includes in it that nobody can do nothing to you. Nobody can do anything negative to you. Somebody does something bad to you, it's because that's what Hashem wanted. Once you have that set in your mind, then 90% of it already is is is easy. And then there's only one way that a person can do a certain act that might take you 20 years to learn how to do it. And it took me many years to learn how to do it. Took me a long time to figure that out. And the irony was that all that time the answer was very clear. I know I look relaxed and I smile and I have also a life to deal with. Just seven kids, that's enough to keep you very occupied and worried and concerned. And then a wife. You don't want to get married. Take a deep breath. So, it's not in my life that I'm like licking my fingers all day long. Well, this is an Israeli term that life is good. You you eat honey and then you lick your fingers all day long from all the food you eat. I don't lick honey all day long. I eat gravel all day long. But I understand that that's the engine. The gravel that I chew all day long, that's my ladder. That's the ladder I fell on. Are you going to use it to complain or you going to understand that that's the ladder that's taking you to the next step? and the job was done for you. You don't even have to come up with solutions. You need to do your effort and Hashem will find the solution. How many times you were in a in a in a place and Hashem just found the solution. He just popped up a solution whether it was financial, a place to stay, she do whatever. I can't really lean on Hashem. is making it in such a way that you have to bring yourself to a point to believe that you can only lean on Hashem. So stage one you do tonight again like I ask in any of my lecture don't just leave the door and go home to your Netflix series or to whatever junk you watch on Instagram and let the make you forget what you learned here tonight or whatever that is. Take the time. Make uh some uh some thoughts in your mind because you want to bring yourself to a point to understand and it takes time by the way that I was created to serve my master. Some men wake up at 4:00 in the morning, but they don't pray till 4:00 in the afternoon or maybe they wake up late. It's irrelevant. But they don't pray early. They don't go to shakar. Then they put fine on at 4:00 in the afternoon. Now each person can interpret that in one in a different way. The one who's successful can say, you know, I'm such a great a Jew. I wake up early. I fulfill Hashem's desire. The other one can say, I'm such a failure. I can't get it together. I'm Hashem is disappointed. I'm never going to be able to do it. The reality is that the person who's able to wake up early, it's easy for him because in a previous life he had the struggles of waking up and praying and all that and he was able to do chuva and rectify that specific aspect of his life. So he mastered the mitzvah. He fulfilled the mitzvah. So in this particular life, it's not hard for him. It's easy because he already mastered it. He did it. So this mitzvah is just like yala just do it. And on the same level can be a person that uh that has a mansion with 15 rooms and he can't host one person in his house. Can't do the mitzvah of hosting another individual. And on another side of town, a person has a two-bedroom apartment and everybody sleeps on the floor and the whole place is a Why? Cuz that person this mitzvah is easy. Why? Because he did it already. You don't have to do it again. And do it again. I mean like reach to a tikun. So what's hard for me? It's not that I'm a failure. It's not that Hashem is after me. No, Hashem is telling you, you fool. I'm telling you, I'm writing on the wall. What you need to focus on. If this mitzvah is extremely difficult for you must be that that's the mitzvah you need to put the most effort because you didn't do the tikun in a previous life. You didn't fulfill this mitzvah. Maybe not in thought, maybe not in speech, maybe not in action. Why you being so stubborn? Why you being so hard on yourself? My I can't get it together. No, that's the mitzvah is hinting to you that it's that's where you need to put effort. Why don't you understand here? If it's easy for you, continue doing it. Just understand that most likely you did for this mitzvah. Then it's easy for you. No, no. In the mitzvah or the sin hard for you, focus on it. You sin in a certain aspect over and over and over and over. It doesn't matter right now what it is. It's not that you are a failure. It's not that you can't get it together. It's not that you you put yourself in this willpool that you can't get yourself out of it. It's Hashem telling you in simple words, I know it's going to be hard for you, but that's the weak limb you need to work on. That's the weak link. This a this sin this sin. If I need to know how to learn how to control my anger, then Hashem is going to give me an annoying wife, an annoying kids, an annoying boss, and I'm never going to find parking and all the annoying things to constantly poke me. And if a certain limb, a spiritual limb is weak, I'm going to give you challenges in that so you can strengthen it. Shem is telling you everything that you need to know. You just need to know how to stand align with Hashem. That's following the Torah, the mitzvot. You are required to figure out what's this purpose and apply that right away. Since you don't know how to figure it out, the answer is very simple, refine yourself. Once you clean the majority of the dirt in the beginning part phase of your chuva, then the refinement is what's going to give you the clarity to understand what she wants from you. Very simple. Don't have to do much. You don't have to be some prophet. You just need to refine yourself. I had a certain encounter two years ago. Something very very big and something serious and of course big questions came up. A why did Hashem brought me down this path? What do I need to learn from that? What do I need to physically do?
