We just went through Tisha B'Av and now we come
to Tu B'Av. Tu B'Av is a day that we celebrate
the closeness to Hashem that we can achieve
through our teshuva. Every single year in the
desert those who are 60 years old on Tisha
B'Av would go to sleep and would not wake up
the next morning. And this went on for almost
40 years. And then one year those who were 60
went to bed and woke up the next morning. And
they thought they made a mistake and they did
the same thing the next night, until on Tu B'Av
they realized that Hashem had forgiven the Jewish
people and they were now ready to enter into
Eretz Yisrael. It was the righteous women of
the Jewish people that established a celebration.
They would all wear beautiful white gowns and
they would go out into the field and they would
dance together to celebrate this closeness with
Hashem. So let's celebrate this year. Let's
celebrate the closeness that we have with
Hashem. Let's celebrate the purity of the Jewish
people. And let's do so by thinking of others.
