Episode 6 BEYOND THE 7 with Rabbi Aaron Dovid Poston

[Music] hey good day folks welcome back to our sixth installment or six lesson beyond the seven live from Jerusalem with rabbi Aaron David Poston I'm so enjoying his series folks this is something that we're getting a little more depth especially for us but I know it's a depth of teaching that is sound but gives us a logical understanding of many many many more things that are beyond the seven but are universal when you just understand the way rabbis sharing them so I'm just gonna turn it right over to Rabbi because without the teachings and the guidance in Torah from a learner rabbi we're lost we're lost we need to hear it from them so a rabbi how are you doing today it's always a joy to spend time with you thank you so much for staying up so late in in Jerusalem to share with us once again how are you doing good thank you Dan and welcome to all the people that are joining us listening Shavua Tov again to all those people far east of where we are and for those people in Europe and wherever else you are in America Canada South America maybe you'll hear this now live maybe you'll hear it a few hours but welcome we have that quite an interesting class tonight that let me say some of it will be a little bit controversial we'll leave it at that until we get started but thank you definitely that's again beautiful okay so should we start I want to mention the topics that I'm going to discuss and we will eventually reach and I hope to put a good amount of time into chapter 18 of Mississippi Shireen of the path of the just but before we get to that so I want to mention a part of yeah in the parsha and how it relates to the north heights and we just turn this off because okay so in Chapter 7 and partial also you have this idea of the twelve princes of the tribes 12 liters of thought there was a verse where they were taught to carry a paddle so that if they had to go to the washroom in the desert they covered it over so that you know when I forgive me yeah this is a command for when they come into the Land of Israel and they go to war so there is I would call the paddle call the shovel call it whatever you want but it's a necessary and there's a leather lesson besides that that when you come in and you actually have to defecate or go to the bathroom not to do it within the camp but the words you shouldn't have anything evil so obviously when you talk about group even proof you know as opposed to like a one-minute clip I get a 30-second clip or a few words from a lecture that are usually probably taken out of context so no you don't want to be a gossip monger right there is a myth so trust me there's a mitzvah to call out people when they're wrong but we're gonna talk about how to do that you shall not hate your brother in your heart now you hate the evil but you don't hate the person now that's it's very strange but listen to the rest you shall reprove your fellow you actually have to give him rebuke why would anybody give anybody rebuke affected by what you do then it's in my interest to give you review because I want to reproof I want you to correct your way I don't want to just call you out and make fun of you my goal is to get you back on the right path so now we have to think how is that done by sending out videos with half a minute clip of what this person said is certainly not effective I don't see it being effective at all I think with the goal some of these people is to get to Pete other people not to listen to them that's it not to actually review so whilst one second let's continue and you do not bear sin because of him me if you can do rebuke effectively right you will not bear the sin now if you're not effective the truth is you did your part so you won't carry his sin you do what you can but the next part is more interesting you shall not take revenge you should not bear a grudge against members of your people and now drum roll please you shall love your fellow as you thank you for the drum row rebuke has to be done out of love if it's not that out of it's not performed with a loving heart first of all you know how someone ever gonna listen to you right you have to approach them with concern for them that I feel that you're doing something that's damaging to yourself and it's also going to damage other people so you have to come from a point out how effective so I find myself the most effective way in rebuking many of the people that I come across that I want to rebuke is find someone else who they trust who they already have a loving relationship with who they know cares about them that they trust and tell that person so my suggestion to these people is to approach the person's rabbi or a group of Rabbis that they would listen to now if you can convince them first that the person is doing wrong so maybe they'll take the responsibility to speak to the person gently and kindly and prove to them to change their ways now if you can't convince them then most likely you're not right that's as simple as that you go to Pete in other words how am I gonna be most effective I'm not the one right I don't know them and I tried to call them they hang up on me so find someone who can be effective and if I speak to them and they turn around and say no you have it wrong which I will actually tell you interestingly enough some of what they're speaking about I found offensive because there is a true value in in some of the things these people are saying in other words they're there they're in we're talking about classy dude and tonight in our thing which I mentioned we're going to talk about Bravo 17a but what what Rob yoculan said at the end of job it's going to also have some insight into what we call I see dudes classic dude is gonna see is and I found these words very strange because what there's these people who want to rebuke these rabbis they're less 17a that but my brochure Seaver of North Weinberg where he says what can you do for a chené chené doesn't need you and yet this they're claiming these rabbis are saying God needs you but guess what in the chapter we're gonna read on classic dude from our perspective we are to a certain extent saying I want to please God which is it's absolutely mind-boggling but that doesn't make someone a heretic right we're talking about the wrong cow in miss Celia sorry in chapter 18 this is the whole reason I thought about it because Hashem gave me this gift of preparing for this class chapter 18 and I see dudes and these particular rabbis are being picked on are amongst the perceiving and within their thought process they think what can I do to please God and God needs me it's not they're not they're not arguing the fact that God doesn't mean anything just we're just talking in the language of man and I think that when you read the here the whole Shh class the whole context they're not a heretics they're not a P Curson it's just a different flavor a different approach and I think that if they these rabbis are attacking them talk to their rabbis who have taught them though they will come to the conclusion that you're right it is a different approach and perhaps these people themselves could make a slight correction if they're misleading people if that's true I don't think they are but if they are they can make a slight correction but to call them evil and I mean the words that I hear them say it's just incredible so that was my rant for tonight I hope it's clear I hope you know come go to my rabbis and tell them you know I've discussed this with them so I don't have any problems saying it's a troll trolls appear nasty they may have a point but yeah if they're if they're like you said if their aim is to just get people to stop listening to rather than to understand the context and come together yeah I think you're right on the money so we will discuss this a very point I was surprised the ROM cow who is not a hussy I mean in in the sense of what these people are Hassidim and and yet he will use these terminology of what a huset is in relationship like a son to a father I mean we will see it ok so I I beg you anybody disagreed with me about what I said stay tunes from what I'm not sure they're all English as a mother tongue so that's related the first one it's a development of character traits this is not me this is I'm reading development of character traits is one of the main aspects of Judaism I will say correct and they didn't ask you this question is more a statement that's absolutely true that's what I've been telling you all along it's not about rituals every single ritual that we do is in order to bring you a sensitivity in your relationship to the spirit okay in how you can relate to a Shem and to other people in a more productive manner so the person asks how can a non Jew a Noahide improve his character according to Torah and oral law without practice the same liturgy I think what they mean is since they have 7 and we have 613 they're obviously not the same so I will just stress I think this is the answer that you have 7 overall reaching principles in them let me just also stress that you also have every logical Mitzvah so within those seven apply because it's logical and probably should apply when it's logical right when it makes sense so even though you have the word is you're not you don't have the same liturgy I'm not sure what liturgy means but you can practice what you learn and we're gonna see sure they're gonna go back over the home it's love learning Torah is order in order to fulfill a non-jew should be learning the Torah whatever parts of Torah in order to fulfill so there are I don't know that the percentage but I'm gonna say like 85 95 percent of the Torah applies to non-jews in this in this regard in terms of how to how to behave even though you may not be obligated in all the finest details with to go through them but the principles you are and you should be deriving the principles in in each area of your life okay the second question is my impression is the many many members of the Noahide movement were christians it's probably true i don't know but this point so they came from the religion but now don't have one so now their religion list so i would degree there basically but i mentioned in a previous class about being jew ish in other words you still feel connected to a larger community right well whether this have been a north movement which is connected to Judaism right it's a non Jew practicing Judaism but I think that everybody means and I think we roll all came to this conclusion in the in the corona isolation units that we all have in our own homes how important it is to have a community so you have to find like let me just read the press the question for an adult that have the experience with former religions take a new path is hard but we have the fundamentals for the decision fine but for a child is harder yeah how can we teach them not to be an idol worshiper at the same time not belonging to a Jewish community so I think it's about community you have to find I believe you have to whether it's online or physically in your community you can start a local Facebook page and maybe there's other ways you can take out an ad in a newspaper and maybe this classifieds some of them are free and you just every week pump it out looking for other like-minded people who are in to the Seminole had laws who want to help I'm not use were create a community because I don't mean creatives in a religion but created communities in terms of fellowship where you can do Bible study
