hello how you
doing I'm barem how are you I'm doing
great you know something I I I listen I
watched a podcast I listened to a
podcast a few days ago and um he talked
he spoke there about Steve
Jobs oh okay and Steve Jobs the founder
of Apple and it was very he made a very
interesting point that I didn't know and
uh I would love to hear your your take
on it okay he says that Steve
Jobs really was into
funds okay and he had a he had a very
big passion for funds different funds
different letters and and he was Mish
into that and the reason he started
exploring computers was because he
wanted to see if there is any way that
he can bring certain funds that he he
really loved to the
wal and he did he didn't see that with
any other uh computer so he decided he's
going to try he's is's going to try to
figure out if there's a way that he can
make it work the funds that he
has and because of his Lo his because of
his love to funs Apple computer came
out interesting okay and I found that
very interesting because a lot of times
people think to themselves you know I'm
a loser I'm a this
that and you don't know people don't
know in hindsight it's very easy
sometimes to connect the
dots the problem is that you can't you
can't connect it ahead of time you have
to wait and then see how the dots are
connecting so
perfect right what I would love to hear
what you have to say as such a
thing it's what's resonating with me is
you know I it's just this past week and
say for SCH it was it was occurred to me
you know here we see parro who who's par
is being um brought with all different
types of opportunities to get out of the
situation they're in right and no matter
what he he finds terum oh you know
whatever signs you're bringing me my my
magicians can do as well and whatever
whatever you're doing you know you're
turning things into dumb might just he
he he keeps um ignoring the
opportunities and just walks away even
though they're still in front of his
face on the other hand you you haveu
who's out in the wilderness and the SN
is burning now if he took Po's approach
he could have just walked away and not
paid okay so you know something caught
on fire whatever you know whatever he
could have found a terret but he didn't
he stopped and he was curious and he
wanted to see what is this about and
it's because of that that he became
M what it tells what what occurred to me
is how often do we throughout our lives
have snz surrounding us we have and I
think I think everybody would admit
we're surrounded by opportunities we're
surrounded by you know we we we can't we
can't turn our head fast enough to see
all the different opportunities that
we're surrounded by the question is are
we gonna be like parro and just say you
know I am who I am I am where I am and
I'm just not GNA pay attention I'm not
going to take advantage of any
opportunities I I'm I'm I'm I'm
satisfied where I am or when you know
are you gonna take Mo B's approach and
say stop for a moment hey look at that
that's interesting what can I do with
that how can how can I act with that how
could it possibly affect me or how can I
affect what what role do I play here
what what what role is the opportunity
offering me you know that's maro's
approach and I think you know there's
such a tremendous yite and I think
that's what Steve Jobs is saying is he
had a he had an urge to do something he
was looking for all the different
opportunities that that that would allow
him to to to fulfill that and he just
said I have an idea but I'm going to
just get vit go Vitter with my regular
day job and not think about it he
wouldn't have become Steve Jobs but you
know
it's it's of course it's a combination
of a lot of factors but one thing that
occurred to me when from last week's
para was that just look and take
advantage of opportunities don't it may
be not every opportunities for you or
not the right time but don't ignore it
yeah but but it's even deeper than that
what what what caught my attention is
you had a passion for something you
wanted so bad something you didn't dream
that it's going to turn out to be Apple
computer right you didn't dream it's
going to come out such an amazing
success story from this and and and by
somebody following their Passion by
somebody following their their their
love for
something you never know what's going to
happen and and then and then what's
going to you know in Yiddish how do you
say in Yiddish um when somebody is very
successful and then you're looking for
an excuse why he is more successful than
what I think I should be inish they
say you ever heard that yeah
sure means basically thank you you know
him why are you not making it the same
as this big guys
make you know doesn't he's a different
story so I I I I you know I think like
two years ago I had a whole on one of my
podcast that I spoke about try you know
do whatever you can until you become the
because every started with a similar
story you know oh Steve Jobs Steve Jobs
no Steve Jobs didn't start as Apple
computer he started with one thing he
started following his passion his
passion for fonts in hindsight you can
connect the dots but if you look at
ahead of time you can't connect the dots
I am now speaking to you and I have no
idea if one day I'm going to connect the
dots of speaking to you in this specific
time I'm speaking about this specific
subject and maybe somebody's life has
changed because of what we spoke maybe
my life is going to change going to
improve maybe you I don't know and then
we're going to connect the dots and then
I'm going to have such a an amazing
success story for myself or for some
other listener whatever and then
somebody's going to say say you know SP
about this and this and
this you know it's it's it's people
can't get inspiration because they only
look at the success they don't see the
dots that had to be connected in order
for the success to happen and B the dots
were connected Bes the dots were
happening Bes the dots were created
there was no story there was no dut
connection right 100% And when I and I I
I'm I'm totally I'm I'm not only
agreeing with you but I'm just enhancing
that by saying we talk a lot about Um
passion and we talk a lot about you know
just get not giving up but we also have
to recognize that you know it's not an
excuse to say well I did everything you
said but I just didn't have the
opportunity the answer is no that's not
true we're surrounded by opportunities
the question is are you paying attention
to them that's the only thing I'm adding
to that is is that point but I want to
point out to you about what you're
saying about passion you know there's a
book called grit it it's a it was a very
popular book when it came out several
years ago from a professor in the
University of Pennsylvania and she
studied what what what allows somebody
to become successful okay and she wrote
a paper on and she actually proved this
to be true according to her research
that there's an equation that she came
up with for Success you know what is the
equation of success it's
Talent Plus effort equals
skills skills plus effort equals success
okay again Talent Plus effort equals
skills skills plus effort equals success
so of course Talent means what we're
naturally good at and we have to know we
have to know what we're naturally good
at but you'll notice in that equation
what comes up twice in that
occation effort effort effort when do we
put forth effort when we're passionate
about something when we feel driven to
do something that's what encourages us
to make to put forth effort so I'm
saying what you're what you and this she
talks about in her book but the point is
know what your talents are and and and
um equate them or work work together
with with you know with with um your
passion and Infuse your your your talent
with f with passion and that allows you
to develop the skills that you'll need
as an outcome those skills together with
that passion will ultimately lead you to
be successful in what you're doing so
you know I I'm just I'm saying what you
what you're pointing out has been
studied and has been proven the role
that passion plays and feeling
passionate about about about what you're
doing um and like I said I think it's
also just you know be aware of the
opportunities don't don't don't ignore
them yeah I would just add with a lot
of we need we can't breathe without yeah
effort you know I I I I I noticed a few
days ago that I was involved in certain
projects and I started the day so
passionate so motivated and I I was
doing the right thing and everything
went well middle of the day everything
shifted every everything shifted I
didn't have the passion anymore I didn't
have the
motivation and if it I I sometimes I
have to force myself not to destroy the
good things that I did
already because I lost everything and
then I thought to myself what happened
what happened in the morning you were so
passionate you're so motivated you did
great stuff you you were you were
inspired others you and then all of a
sudden everything
changed and you know what I
realized it said something it's
something I ate for
lunch that's it that's it I destroyed
myself I destroyed the half a day of my
life because of something I ate for
lunch and it's it's so important you
know you wouldn't take
poison and in we do it to ourselves all
the time we think ah no I'm the type of
a person no baloney you're not a type of
a person you're destroying yourself I'm
talking about myself by the way you know
I'm I'm a passionate person I think you
can you can say that you can you can
tell it I'm a passionate person I'm a
motivated person I do a lot of things
that others wouldn't won't do because I
love doing it and then all of a sudden I
lose it because I ate something I
shouldn't eat okay and so so you need a
lot of you need a lot of self-awareness
to make sure that you put yourself in a
in a situation that you should be able
to do the effort you should be able to
have the the the
I think the effort is the the the the
single thing that you have the most
control
on and when when I say when I say
control it's not only control to make
sure that you do the effort because a
lot of external factors can come in that
will prevent you from doing the effort
for example having a smartphone near
your on your desk with WhatsApp open
could destroy your effort you know
you're letting too many destructions
come in the middle and of course as I
discussed you know eating things that
you shouldn't eat especially when you
want to have a productive day right well
and I I think your story illustrates
another important point in that is that
you know what it's not always going to
be Rosy not everything's going to always
you're not going to always feel infused
with passion and excitement we have our
ups and we have our downs and be
prepared for that and just if you have a
down day or you if you're just feeling
that lack of passion doesn't mean that
you've lost it it just means you've had
a bad day but that's okay abely part
being a human being I once I once gave a
lecture somewhere few years ago and I
spoke I spoke to salespeople in the
insurance business and I remember when I
was in the insurance business I had so
many times that I was so down after
hearing so many noes and I couldn't work
for a few weeks and I wanted to leave
the business and then all of a sudden
things started going very well and I
made nice money and people listened and
I I I you know I I had success no what
they not going to leave such a business
it's so good everything is
AA and what what Ur to me Ur to me is
that so many times people making are
making long-term decisions based on a
short-term
slum and I said that in the in the
meeting there in the presentation I gave
don't make long-term decisions when all
you're going through is a short-term
stump right absolutely it it's so
important because people you know some
sometimes they're in the dark and I
agree it's very it's dark it's painful
and you don't know how you're going to
get out but just think to yourself if
you ever were in the dark before and if
you got
out and you got out you know every time
through a different story and uh mem
you're going to get out of this also
don't don't destroy your life don't take
on a job that you you don't want to take
on when you just have to push through
another two weeks
so a lot of people are are um you know
it's it's I think it comes back to the
instant
gratification um that Americans suffer
from
right absolutely yeah and then hopefully
one day you're going to be able to
connect the the dots um to see why
everything made sense and why everything
helped you to get to uh to where you are
hopefully to a successful outcome um I
want to share with you another thing
schulam if you have another few minutes
mhm
that um from Ila
musk okay you you you you play around
with the big boys don't
you I'm trying listen I'm I'm I'm
reading about them and I I listen to
their podcasts and
presentations um so listen to
this ilam musk had a goal many many
years ago to build the Model
S Tesla
and after making the whatever it didn't
make sense that they should be able
didn't have the the M the funds to it to
fund such a such a thing and uh so so he
had to put it on
hold so what did he do in order to be
able to build the model S so in other
words the model S was the dream this is
what he wanted to get to he didn't have
funding and in order to get funding you
need to have a certain level of success
in order to get the funding you need to
show your your uh you know your resume
what did you do already you know in
order for banks to fund you now he's El
mask but back then who who would look at
him so he decided that he's going to
come up with a model
three which is going to be much much
cheaper to build and it's something that
everybody should want to have it and you
know everybody wants the cheap car you
want to have it and it's going to be a
no-brainer it's going to be at a price
point that's it's a no-brainer and he
did have the funds to do that so you
build the model three in order to build
up the company to be able to build the
model
S so in other words the model 3 was only
an introduction to the model S it was
only like a something that he had to get
done in order to be able to get to the
dream right and what when I when I when
I heard that I thought about this so
many people they have big dreams and
they don't accomplish it and they can't
go for it because of the it's very hard
to get to the big dream
dream and justifiably so I understand
you know maybe you need a lot of money
maybe you need to be in a certain
situation in life to be able to get to
the to the big to the big dream to work
with you know we talk a lot in the book
about you know the book that came out
the key to your success we talk about
some people should do what's their
talent and I know you talk about it in
your in your uh in your your line of
work to help people um identify what
their talents are to work only in the
talents what their personality is but
sometimes you have to understand that in
order to get there you need a model
three first right so I sometimes ask
people when I speak to people in my
membership groups in the community that
I have I ask people okay I understand
your big goal but what's your model tree
absolutely and I I think this is what um
I can't think of his name now in the in
the coaching program um it'll come to me
but I will I will quote his name when I
when it comes back to me but in any
event they they call it the bahag I
think the the big hairy audacious goals
like you have to always have these big
goals that are 10 20 year old 10 or 20
year goals or visions that that keeps
you going and driving you have that you
know if somebody's if somebody's really
taken with having a Rolex watch keep
that Rolex watch in your in your mind if
it's getting through shot keep getting
through Shas what what you know that has
to be a long-term goal that keeps you in
the game but then go and and but then
take that and figure okay in order to be
there in 10 or 20 years what do I have
to do now and what and what do I have to
do in the next three years and in the
next five years and the next 10 years
you know break that down like Elan said
in order to get to the mod next week the
next month the next today the next day
whatever it is but you know it all boils
down to this youo of being intentional
and having that mindset that it's you're
G to make it
work and you know but but be being
realistic about it as well I want to
tell you something you know you know
remind me how do they say good morning
in
Yiddish yeah it's a
test good good
morning good morningg yeah go ahead Good
Morgan okay it's Morgan what does Morgan
mean in
yish I always assum that me morning
tomorrow oh
Morgan tomorrow I'm going to I'm I'm
going to meet you so so in yish tomato
is M so I once heard somebody said why
do you say get Mar why don't you say get
hun like today good
today okay in English you say good
morning because it's morning but why do
you say good morning it's like tomorrow
why not today good good get get hunt
hunt today okay so he said something
very very deep he said because most
people when they get out of their house
in the morning they they already made
made up their mind that tomorrow is
going to be a good
day today is probably over but tomorrow
uhuh have something to look out for w so
you say good morning you gave up on
today so I'm just saying it because he
said you should know this year next year
and know also today you should have a
focused day what do you want what do you
want in the long term and what do you
need to do today in order to be able to
get your long-term
you know life is just too short to not
take advantage of every moment that we
have you know it's just you know I said
something to somebody today I told them
you know he told me okay you know what I
don't have time this week next week I
said you know how many weeks like this
do we have like next week what do you
think just weeks okay next week next
week next year you know it's it's it's
very very important to understand not
only the longterm go but what do you
want
today right and who says there's going
to be a tomorrow anyway you know take
advantage today who knows what's going
to
happen says galic okay so again let me
just summarize we spoke about the the
connecting the dots in hindsight and
then the model
three what's your model three okay I
would love to hear send me an email you
know I'm send me an email you listener
or put a comment in YouTube or somewhere
you know where you I want to hear what
your model what your model 3 is
we will be in touch of looking
