As we see the answer to that, but it was
always [music] always a kaili to be
mikayem the
the heirois. And I think that
heiro really applies to every every
chossid.
Sometimes we doubt ourselves. If we are
a kaili,
we have the keichus, we don't have the
keichus, I don't I don't have the
merits, I'm not in the mood.
The Rebbe said that every single chossid
has the
capacity for all the all his keichus.
I'm Yossi Kleinman. Welcome to Among
Chassidim by the Rebbe, an ongoing
fabrengen about life as a chossid, our
vibrant [music] connection with the
Rebbe, and inspired living shaped by the
way he teaches us each and every day.
Shalom Aleichem, Benji. We're ready to
do part two. How's it going?
Great. Looking forward. Okay, so
in part one,
as I mentioned then, we didn't even get
into all of the folders that you have
here with so many kvis veyads then
documentation I don't know if it's kvis
veyads or answers from the Rebbe,
documents, letters.
Um so it would be very beneficial if you
can go through some of them and
highlight can't do everything but
highlight those that
you want to highlight. So let's do that.
Okay.
Um
so as I mentioned during the part one,
um because
my zeide wrote in so often
and be and considering the amount of
things he was involved with throughout
the years,
I I can't say he he received the most of
any chassidim, but he he received
thousands and thousands of responses
throughout the years. So um
to narrow down exactly what to address
it was it's a little of a challenge.
But um we'll do our best with the time
we have. Um
so starting with um
his yichus with the previous Rebbem,
so as I mentioned part one, um
when he was a bochur in Bnei Brak in taf
shin ches, taf shin tes, those years,
until he came to the America on
on Zos Chanukah taf shin yud, he was
constantly asking the previous Rebbem
for shlichus to go to them.
Um b'shem all the bochrim, of course. So
when his request was granted,
um
that
that started a whole whole revolution in
Lubavitch with the first group of
Russian bochrim coming to the to
America. So
so even the time when he was in Bnei
Brak, he communicated with the previous
Rebbem. This is just one letter to him
from chof vov Nissan taf shin zayin. The
previous Rebbe writes to him in response
to your question about um
about learning and understanding
chassidus,
the
the main idea is to understand the
concepts. You don't have to worry so
much about knowing the words. The
previous Rebbe writes "Farshtein the
inyan."
B'gashmius u'v'ruchmius ozri b'kashmius
u'v'ruchmius. And the previous Rebbe
the previous Rebbe will help you to to
understand chassidus, but the main the
main thing is to farshtein um the inyan
and not to worry so much about the the
wording of the ma'amar.
Um there's a bunch of
things over here answers over here about
ma'amitz. Think about how much how much
money did the bochur have. But ma'amitz
was such an iker of hiskashrus that you
did whatever you could um
to send in the previous Rebbe a few
few coins. And so far these letters that
you're showing are
they don't have the previous Rebbe's
signature, it's signed by the maskir.
>> Yeah.
Um
yeah, this was from sent from New York
all the way to France.
Um and this is another very very
important letter which many of us can
learn from.
The previous Rebbe was writing to my
zeide here.
Um that he should be mesader himself
b'shkida u'v'simcha nigleh u'vdach,
u'l'hispalel b'mussinus b'li arichus.
Daven slowly, it doesn't have to be at
length.
And b'lei leilech b'darchei avoda
sh'l'maala m'musi.
You know, you shouldn't
exert yourself to do something to do
to you know, be active in avodas Hashem
when you don't you're not holding at
that madreiga. So you have to know where
you're holding at. You have to know um
you have to know your your darka in
avodas Hashem u'v'cholo u'v'cholo. And
um the previous Rebbe is telling him to
do the Tanya b'peh.
And um
and wish him hatzlacha in all of his
inyanim b'gashmius u'v'ruchmius. It's a
beautiful letter, but what really hit me
was this
this idea of when you daven it should be
b'mussinus
b'li arichus.
Which um is a very important heiro. How
old was zeide at the time?
>> Uh this is taf shin ches. He was born
pei zayin, so he was about um
he was about 21. Hm. So he's an older
bochur already. Yeah.
Um
and a bunch of other letters over here
about ma'amitz
um and other and the previous Rebbe gave
him
heiro to learn z'vicho
and
um and shchita. This was in um
this was in taf shin ches. Him and a
group of bochrim then went to Ireland
uh to do shchita. I think there was a
Zalman Shur was with him.
His brother Shonberg.
Uh there was a whole group of chassidim
then. I think it was led by um
Nachman Schiman and Zalman Schiman and
um Eliyahu Plotkin.
There were a few chassidim then in
Ireland.
>> in Ireland doing doing shchita.
>> Yeah.
It was a it was a very
big deal then because I think that's
what they allowed shochtim to do their
work.
>> Shaul Duchman was part of it then. Yeah,
I think Shaul Duchman was born in
Ireland. Okay. A lot of chassidim were
living there then.
Um okay. So here this again is many many
uh
a lot of it is again as I said it's
ma'amitz today. I mean I don't know how
much emphasis it had but then it was
like a iker hiskashrus was to send
money.
And then there's here is a letter
wishing him mazel tov for receiving the
visa.
And uh
the previous Rebbe should help him that
the nesia from France to America should
be uh k'shura u'v'cholo u'v'cholo.
>> date? This is chof vov Marcheshvan taf
shin yud.
>> Wow. Okay.
So
and I think I mentioned part one that
during their ride to America, the seas
were very stormy
and uh they were expecting the worst.
And um my zeide wrote to his father
afterwards when he got to America that
um holding the letter this letter right
here
that the Rebbe sent me gave me that
bitachon that everything will work out
and we'll get there safely.
So um this is the letter here.
Um and then this is the the chiddush of
the previous Rebbe when he got to
America which I'll be discussed last
time. You said that the Rebbe
he he he discussed with the Rebbe
afterwards. Yeah.
Um
okay.
Um just going now into the uh when he
got to America,
so this is a very powerful answer from
taf shin
mem aleph. It was my zeide was going
through a lot then with his shlichus.
>> aleph.
>> Yeah.
1981.
>> Yeah, the reason why I'm bringing that
up now is because my grandfather wrote
to the Rebbe then.
They were going through a lot then in
yeshiva and shul and his personal
matters.
He wrote to the and there was machlokes
in some of the places. So he wrote that
he's not a baal machlokes and he's not a
ben baal machlokes. He has no
connection. My zeide is writing to this
to the Rebbe.
And
um he writes from the day that I arrived
in America,
kol magmasi, my entire
I I strived only to be um
to be to kochein all the inyanim that
the Rebbe wants from us.
Um he writes the everything that he went
through that when the Rebbe wanted me to
be involved with shul I did it and when
the Rebbe wanted me to be involved with
yeshiva I did it. Everything from that
moment on
um
and he brings shidduch fabrengen of base
year taf shin yud when the Rebbe
fabrenged with the bochrim then to
avodas Hashem atzmi avodas Hashem azulus
to you know, devote themselves to their
avodas Hashem and to
the hashpa'a to others.
Um but it's a very powerful letter that
he he writes that
um I made it up my mind then that I'm
throwing myself into the inyan of
unbelievable nefesh.
And he asks a brocha a brocha then that
all the ma'asim and everything should
work out and um
yeah. I I don't I don't have an answer
on that. Is there an answer? Yeah.
So Shmini Atzeres taf shin beis, it was
a very uh it's a very known fabrengen
then chassidim would refer to it as
Shabbos Hagadol. It was a few weeks
after the Rebbe's 50th birthday and um
this is after Pesach already.
And
um there was a very big koch still from
from that big
um the jubilee year.
Um during that fabrengen of um Shmini
Atzeres the Rebbe took a lot of mashke.
Um
I think this the description then the
Rebbe like turned his head um
backwards or upside down, one of the one
of the two.
And
um the Rebbe singled out many chassidim
during that fabrengen. This is upstairs
[snorts] in the zal.
Um my zeide then got a lot of kiruvim
from the Rebbe. One of the expressions
the Rebbe said then was every atzvus
davetut tut til l'maala
v'avon v'sugam
maala m'taam daas.
Und der Eibershter hot im geholfen er is
matzliach.
Um
and he held onto the barrel of wine
during that fabrengen for a few moments
and he expressed uh
the idea that mind over it.
The Rebbe said that that uh that term.
The Rebbe was telling Berl Junik about
the Rebbe asking him and the Rebbe
referred to him as mind over it.
And then there was also the
So the farbrengen one mamesh almost the
miracle that I would say it's shane
shpats. The bachum davening chassidus as
if you better Yona and David Askin.
Um
could be the rebbe said that sitting was
what that was was a lot of kiruvim.
Um during that farbrengen. The rebbe
said it's late. Yeah.
Shane shpats that bachum davening chazan
uh
in the shul chazan chassidus.
That was a big shul and then they were
both very involved with like I mentioned
in part one but the chazarah's daf.
Going to shuls during
mincha.
And the chazaning chassidus sichos uh
whatever it was.
The rebbe was making my sichos I don't
know which a few years later it started
but it was still you know from the
fourth rebbe from sefer hamam niggunim
whatever they had then.
That's um
that's what they chazered. Um
These are
These are a bunch of smichos that he
received over here from various
rabbonim. This is from the baruch she
frin.
This is from uh
from
various other rabbonim here. Oh, this is
from the shishum in Paris from the
mission whoever they much be the
rabbonim then were.
This is from Rabbi Beckersky from Rabbi
Bin Yeminson.
From Montreal he came into New York then
he fired bachum.
And um basically this is he was doing
all this because the rebbe was was
talking that bachum should receive
smicha and they should
receive yeda yeda and the whole So you
got a multiple smichas.
>> Yeah, yeah.
Okay. Um and then
Uh this is a another very powerful This
is actually the original hagoyis over
here on a
the farbrengen for shmini tishrei yud.
This was um
during that tekufa that my zeide was
very involved with the sichos. So I
guess somehow or another um he was
involved with um
the the publishment of the publishing of
this so he received the uh
the kisvei yad Can I see that? Sure.
So the rebbe
So this is like a hanacha basically of
the of the farbrengen.
>> And there's all these hagoyis. It was
was it printed with these hagoyis? Yeah,
I said I think I sent it to him so he
has it.
And how come he has them?
Well, it's a lot of a lot of hagoyis
here. Mhm.
Okay. You asked last time about
different expressions that the rebbe
said that the rebbe had said about him.
One time I heard this from both brothers
of Pinye Korf alav hashalom.
Um it was chof av yud gimmel and they
ran out of mashke.
So um I think Reb Zalman Gurary asked my
zeide to bring a bottle.
My zeide al always had in his locker
whatever it was then um in 770 he always
had my zeide in his mashke prepared for
you know if Case of emergencies.
Exactly.
So um
take when my zeide came back with the
mashke the rebbe said David tuts vos my
zeide tut.
David does what we
asked him to do.
Um
we ask him to learn with bachum learn
with bachum to make them misnagdim to
make them misnagdim.
Alts vos
vos alts vos my zeide tut there.
That was a um
They were It's interesting that they
remember that cuz they both like
personified like kabbalas ol. You know,
Avraham Lent and Pinye Korf. Mhm.
So that I guess that's what stuck with
them cuz that's what they relate to the
most. They said they remember the guest
they had the rebbe in.
They were telling me how the rebbe
expressed that on a on a chassid.
That they tut vos my zeide tut.
>> Yep.
So yeah that that kind of sums up his um
his time chosid yeah.
Um okay these are the hagoyis on that
farbrengen from this year.
It's actually printed in the beginning
of teirus menachem tishrei aleph.
It's a very encouraged for especially
bachum to to learn that entire
farbrengen which is a large part of it
that the rebbe was my gear.
You don't have the original. No, I don't
have the original but um this is a copy.
Um
I think the original Reb Yisrael is in
Reb Yisrael's frishos.
Um okay this is a very powerful yechidus
with the rebbe's hagoyis on it which I
did not mention last time which on the
part one.
Um
My zeide is here is asking about This is
from er lechaim kislev tishrei yud beis.
1951.
Um
My zeide is asking a brocha here for
various inyanim with things that are
going on in his life as person in his
learning in his personal life things
that bachum struggle with.
And he asked that the rebbe brocha
that the rebbe should help him to be a
emes chassid. That he should be a keili
to be emes chassid.
Um it's interesting that the rebbe
actually writes here aleph beis gimmel
daled the different points in the
yechidus.
So the rebbe writes over here the keili
of the brocha zein emes chassid.
Veinike chashveinis in them.
The things that he mentioned that are
being involved with him the things from
sir sir me avodah v'cholo. The rebbe
says to have less
to have
>> Translate what you're saying. So the
rebbe said that the brocha that to be a
real chassid a true chassid is to stop
thinking stop indulging yourself in all
the all the
the misteis that you did. And all the
your all your setbacks and all those
things that
you know you shouldn't be involved with.
Stop indulging stop getting so caught up
in it.
Um
The lashon gidus that I wrote over here
in pencil
a rein griblen zich in them.
To I guess not to indulge yourself.
Um iber gemen zich zum lernen chassidus
v'hanhogo b'darkei chassidus to devote
yourself uh to learning.
Uh chassidus in the uh conduct of into
conduct yourself in the darkei
chassidus. The eibershter will helfen
zolt take a zein emes chassid.
Hashem should help you that you should
take a be emes chassid.
Cuz that's that's really what uh he
wants That's really the bakasha of every
single chassid.
To um
to uh to be a emes to be a keili to be
emes chassid.
Which reminds me
um the rebbe used a very similar
expression to him uh once. This is in a
letter
from chof zayin nissan tishrei lamed.
He was tach then was going through
financial struggle.
And um actually have it right over here.
And um he basically asked the rebbe for
a brocha and he wasn't even taking a
salary for himself then. They were in
such a bad matzav.
So the rebbe basically said that um
that's not the correct hanhogo.
Uh this is the rishus Reb Sein Sein Sein
Sein Sein
to um take a salary for yourself.
And then he asked at the end that he
should be zocheh
to be a keili to be mekabel
the rebbe's um to get be mekabel heiros
of the rebbe. I'm just going to read it
for you right here.
So he he writes to the rebbe here that
um
he's not taking a salary from tzach and
the rebbe wrote in nochin klal.
That's not the um
Not proper. That's it's not the proper
approach.
And um the rebbe wrote had he said the
rishus Reb Sein Sein Sein
b'kayitz b'zeh l'kaches.
To uh to take the salary.
Uh there's some other personal things in
the in tzach in the in that doch.
Then the he write he writes at the end
v'yaze Hashem Yisborach Hashem should
help us sh'bimeishich hayomim ad beis
year. This was right before beis year
chof zayin nissan. Until uh beis year
I should be mechaven
um to know what to do.
Which is very I think very applicable
today for after gimmel tammuz that we
should have the we should all be
mechaven to the rebbe's kavana.
B'she'eska l'heirus m'furashos
b'she'eya fisha eyeya keili to be
m'kayem the rebbe's ratzon and to be
gayn nachas ruach m'tzach harachav
umitzos. So we're He wrote that he
should be zocheh to be a keili
to heirus m'furashos to be m'kayem the
rebbe's ratzon. The rebbe
uh crossed out the words fisha eyeya and
I should be a keili and he and he wrote
k'var me'azu.
Already from um he wrote in the
beginning of the doch from this year
from the beginning of his work in tzach.
Kach v'kach.
And he um the rebbe was making reference
that he always was a keili to
Mhm. be m'kayem tzara which was a very
very powerful um
um testament to his work.
Um
that was
just in regards to his avodah in tzach.
Um obviously we can't go through all
this knowledge this is just a bunch of
yechidus and his chassan yechidus
which it was a very very special
yechidus.
Um what the rebbe says where the
couple's panim should be and where he
wanted the rebbe to come to the kabbalas
panim so he made the kabbalas panim in
the zal upstairs in 770.
Um he said actually what the rebbe said
by farbrengens under the window.
Um
and he wanted the rebbe to come out that
was the first chassan that the rebbe
didn't come to kabbalas panim. He
stopped going to chassans from the
wedding before already.
Um
I think it was the first chassan also in
770.
So um he and he asked my zeide to make
the chassan in the farband where the
keili is today in order for the rebbe to
um to be there. And as you mentioned in
part one the rebbe walked by went on
Kingston that night instead of Brooklyn
in order to
encourage the sing the singing and the
dancing. But the rebbe told him he's not
coming to the kabbalas panim.
Yeah, he was told the entire time he was
trying He actually wrote this in the in
the yechidus in tzach noch he wrote the
He he's doing it like he wants the rebbe
to
to uh go and the rebbe says das daf men
basically read them with baalei batim
and them. Basically what to say there is
that um chof zayin I don't think like
making changes in order order not to
make other people jealous.
V'cholo v'cholo.
>> Who's baalei batim?
Um I guess those who are more in the
know about how things would the say
there's Mhm. Okay.
Yingel light.
That was the
to threaten with
Yingel light.
Doesn't mean you're in my hand is not
better. Whatever I guess it's more
convenient for people. That's where you
should
all the arrangements should be.
Okay.
Um
Right. It is it's very interesting.
There's a bunch of Shana Tova letters
that he received throughout the years.
Um, so ready to have Shana Tova letter
he was a bachur that ever wrote a
beautiful uh
beautiful titles on him.
>> who get Shana Tova letters. Like Yeah. A
lot a lot of people get
>> I heard that if you wrote to the Rebbe
throughout the year, you got a Shana
Tova letter for whatever matter it was.
Um,
you got a I guess I think that was a
that was a
>> a continuing to be expanded.
So that I guess you have to ask the
maskirim how that worked. But um There
was many people that were getting a
Shana Tova letter but
certain
certain uh group of people. Interesting.
Yeah.
So it's actually very interesting if you
notice
almost every single letter
there's a different title for him.
Mhm. So I think basically it's depending
on his what he was dealing with during
that kuffa.
Malach Malach Shamayim is a tzibur
Here it doesn't have that column that we
had it in a few times uh
to the title.
Or just Reish Pei.
Um
The Rebbe's adding stuff by the
signature.
>> Yeah. Everyone else at the end Rebbe
would
usually add something. Um, it's like a
flag on it. But it's a kedusha and it's
a teiva. It's a teiva with that and a
column. It was always a or not can't say
always but there was very often a hisafa
um to letters to him.
And it's again it's very interesting to
see the the different uh See that Malach
Malach Shamayim. And uh
is a tzibur almost every other uh title
is different.
Sometimes it's a tzibur with a column or
sometimes without the column.
So um I don't know all the column but um
the Rebbe says in the in the sicha in
Tishrei when the Rebbe writes titles on
a chassid
it's not stam on on anyone. It's not
stam. It's actually uh
that's the amitas inyan. Over here the
Rebbe adds Moreinu Harav. Yeah.
The other ones didn't have Moreinu
Harav. Just had
an end of a column. What were you saying
the last one was what?
I think the the environment is with the
column.
>> Yeah. Yeah.
That
Yeah, these are just a lot of Shana Tova
letters and um
birth of children.
Okay. Um, this is the
this is the early years um
in that um in that capacity.
It's beautiful pictures from
um this time in Berlin and I'm sorry in
Montreal.
That was before that.
Here?
I see some Rebbe's with the Rebbe now.
Oh yeah, this is a letter that the Rebbe
that he asked on his brother Label's
behalf.
He would often write letters by kashas
to Label. I mean from his brother Label
Morocco to the Rebbe. That he's
he's the Label was asking if he should
uh rent a house or he should buy a
house.
And um
whatever the response was on that.
Um, the Rebbe actually writes over here
underlines the the that he should rent a
house and should be about stach bagor.
Kadoshim bechav ask eltzin.
The Rebbe says as I indicated with the
line Yeah.
Yeah.
Um, okay.
Um
So this is a very interesting uh
news clip from the Cincinnati local news
from August 1952
of him in America shlichus.
And
>> Famous picture. Yeah. I'm just pointing
this out because the Rebbe Chana uh he
went to Rebbe Chana he told him before
what he where he's going and who he's
going with. He writes about this in his
zman.
And Rebbe Chana asked him if he could
try to be back for Chaf Av.
Mhm.
You know, she felt a certain closeness
with him because he was involved with
the original in the original Chaf Av
Tishrei Yud. He was Rebbe Shas the
histalkus of
of the Rebbe's father and
of course was a kallah with his siblings
to be meshamesh and his parents to be
meshamesh. Rebbe's parents said amatas
to the
Rebbe Chana wanted him to be there um
for Chaf Av.
Um
Yeah, there's there's much more of that
as well.
But of course we're limited on time and
uh film I guess.
This is a very powerful um
doch over here. He writes about things
he was going through and here writes he
writes he's giving his personal expenses
for the Rebbe for the Rebbe's
um you know, expenses.
He's what? He's writing he's giving from
his personal money to for the Rebbe's
expenses for whatever the Rebbe wants to
use it for.
And the Rebbe wrote nilkach betach.
So that last one is skavul betach
nilkach
He took it. It's it's a much Yeah,
that's strong it's a stronger term. I
received it. I took it. Yeah.
Wish I could have multiple uh
inyanim understanding.
Um
Yeah. Over here you see the Rebbe would
cut the
the bottom of the of the pan
because it was a private inyan and just
give back the person's name and their um
in the bottom of the doch
in order for the maskirim whoever it was
not to um
not to see what the chassid wrote. So
there's a bunch of like scraps of papers
here.
That The Rebbe The Rebbe would The Rebbe
is writing Rebbe
>> Rebbe did The Rebbe would take it to the
oil. He would take he would rip off to
just give the response
and then um He gives the response in
that pan. Yeah.
What does it say?
Uh
This is another actually another nilkach
betach. Panim skavul.
Just like in you know, a bunch of like
swirls.
Panim. Yeah. Panim panim.
Um, this was then. Okay. Um, throughout
the chafs there's a lot to go through
with pigishas and a lot of sharp
answers.
Um, you have to remember the Rebbe was
raising a new generation of a fatza and
just because it was a sharp answer
didn't wasn't chass v'shalom it was a
chelek. It was rather that that's how
the Rebbe was guiding a new generation
to um
to you know
get this new mentality up and running.
Right.
>> Of of spreading chassidus of being there
for another year to of doing poilus on
time. I know that in the yuds that's
Zach got a very sharp answer
uh from mitzvah to krias shema for this
is tishrei zain or yud zain or so.
The Rebbe writes muznach beyoser. It was
was very much neglected.
And why wasn't people contacted before
earlier?
You know, he did visitations in
hospitals and wherever it was. He just
showed up on the spot whatever it was.
There should be communication beforehand
but this is all brand new. No one knew
how to run these things.
So you know, cannot hurt today these
things are just you know, this is our
This is our uh
bread and butter. You know, this is what
we do best. But um
then it was all brand new and um
everything had to be done
um according to the Rebbe's kavana and
uh Later years the Rebbe gave some
answers that like
20 40 years
>> 20 40 years that I'm
holding you by the hand now you're on
your own. So yeah.
What you're saying is that
these answers that he got were was was
that period of the Rebbe holding them by
the hand.
For example, this is
uh
This is from Chaf Chaf Shvat Tishrei
Mem.
Um
They wrote to the Rebbe that mitzaref
b'zeh
um enclosed is a brochure for Purim
which is coming up.
Um, it was edited by various people.
We printed 30,000
um small format and 20,000 in bigger
format.
And
um we hope to
include these in the mishloach manos to
going out to people. The bachurim are
going out to mivtzaim in various army
bases whatever it was.
The Rebbe writes there v'ishlach fanal
v'ishlach fanal lifnei v'chulo
underlined. This is the same brochure as
as years before.
K'pashut sh'af echad
underlined three times. She's peinen
underlined three times. V'chulo no one's
even Did anyone even look at like look
it over to see that hash to Purim
b'motzei Shabbos v'chulo v'chulo.
Did anyone see that it's
the minor different that the updated
v'chulo v'chulo? Yeah, the wrong day of
the week.
>> yeah, I mean you have to remember people
are under pressure to get things out and
not always were
they always so mindful of yeah, very
changes.

Thank you very much. [music] Enjoy the
rest of the podcast. So,
yeah, this is actually very uh powerful
answer. This is
So, there was a concept called there's a
publication called
was very active before their hair. Mhm.
It was something called the Ufaratsta
Journal. Yeah.
This was like the their hair
beshaitai. I've heard from some
[clears throat] people that were
involved in it. Yeah.
Mason Mason Rifkin today lives in
Florida. He was the main publisher.
Yeah, when their hair started he told me
that
the first edition the first
version of such a thing was was the
Ufaratsta. Yeah. journal.
Okay.
So, they wrote over then this lamid vov.
Obviously, the Rebbe didn't mean very
much in shtachim not giving away
territories Yehudah v'Shomron in Eretz
Yisrael not giving back any territories
to um
to the Arabs.
So, they wrote to the Rebbe that um
mitzuref b'zeh
in this article in this upcoming
magazine we'll be featuring an article
on the Rebbe's shita of um
of not giving back land.
So, this is mamash like it's such a
nuanced response.
Pashut shelo hatfis zeh. The Rebbe
saying not to print the article on his
own shita
on his own stance on giving away
territory.
Sh'arei tzarich l'yas Ufaratsta. The
name of of the publication was Ufaratsta
Journal.
The whole the whole idea of this is
Ufaratsta amitis. True Ufaratsta.
No.
Meaning to say this has to reach people
whose stance on giving away territory,
meaning they could be pro that for
whatever reason, is um
is heipech mai shita. So, Ufaratsta
means that it should also reach such
people that may have a different shita
Yeah. than me. Yeah. That's what the
Rebbe is saying. So, So, the Rebbe not
to print it. But at the same time the
Rebbe said Yeah, and the Ufaratsta it's
it's not an Ufaratsta piece. Right.
But at the same time the Rebbe is
screaming about
literally every farbrengen. The Rebbe is
screaming about that.
But on the other hand, when it comes to
inyan Ufaratsta to be sensitive not to
print it because
you know, it should have its
appropriate effect
desired effect.
Um
just write throughout the doch how many
people looked it over and it's already
to go.
And it's basically basically be to be
gay nakas ruach that we're going to
print like your shita on this.
And the Rebbe said um
not to print that. So, in taf shalom the
vov um 1976
um
after Pesach there was a very big
shidduch.
Um the Rebbe coined it shnas chinuch.
Um the year of Torah education.
Um the Rebbe then spoke like b'eimer the
first six of which will be which would
be 12 psukim.
Um and in general there was a very big
shidduch then to
enroll Jewish children in Torah day
schools and in the summer and and um
and summer camps.
Um
So, tzach then
produced a brochure.
Um here it is.
It said
tachlis it said actually what will your
child um
grow up to be Jewish? Question mark.
That was the um
that's how they you know, marketed the
campaign.
To really you know, hit home that that
point of like you never know where your
child's going to grow up to be if they
don't get a Jewish education now.
Um when they sent in that um brochure to
the Rebbe
they got an answer which uh
I was told by Rabbi Yisrael Yisraelitzky
in Tel Aviv shliach in Tel Aviv in Tel
Aviv who was very involved as a bachur
in the polls of tzach.
The Rebbe wrote um
hadrei Yisrael
al pi p'shuto Yisrael hu o um makim the
shailo.
Yidden even though they you know,
sinned meaning they didn't get the
proper upbringing um they're still
Yidden Yisrael. So, what's the question?
What are they asking the Rebbe?
>> How can you make that How can you
advertise it in such a way? Um there's
no question. But it teaches you a big
lesson.
When you're marketing you know, so they
clickbait and all that type of things
you want to you want to Right. get a get
the hook. But if it's not proper
not iska halacha you can't you can't do
it you know, even if it's good
marketing.
Yeah.
In general I mean on that note there is
a ton of hadracha. Obviously, we can't
we're limited on time we can't go
through everything now.
That tzach received especially um in
regards to p'kashus.
The men's and the women's p'kashus.
Um there's one famous one from uh Taves
taf shalom mem hei
where they made a brochure.
Um what is
Purim more similar to Halloween
or Yom Kippur?
Think about it. It's very it's a catchy
theme cuz l'chairo I mean Purim
Halloween and
you could do a Purim Kippurim. It's a
nice uh
twist play on the words.
Anyways,
they got it was such a sharp answer
back.
The Rebbe said basically to burn every
remaining copy of it.
First take off the base hei.
P'latz that's something that tzach
always got a heidel. Make sure the heisa
base hei underlined two times always on
base hei was a very big heidel.
Um and all publications that have base
hei and um
I was getting back to the answer.
Um o um ma hashva'a b'chlala question
mark exclamation point. I think there
were multiple question mark exclamation
points then.
Um
I said I don't have the mind in front of
me now but it's it's around this
printed.
But but yeah,
on the note you're saying that it's
sometimes can really be you know,
appealing and engaging um to have such a
headline.
But of course um this is not iska
halacha. And so, the Rebbe doesn't say
put it in shaimos or to throw it out to
burn every remaining copy.
Destroy lashmi whatever the lashon was.
Um
so that's that. So, getting back to this
answer
um the Rebbe the Rebbe wrote hadrei
Yisrael al pi p'shuto Yisrael hu o um
makim the shailo to ask will they grow
up Jewish? So, they changed it to be
does your child know what it means to be
a Jew?
See over here they made multiple colors
for you know, the Rebbe shita.
>> will your sons and daughters be when
they grow up? Jews of course.
But will they appreciate why? Do you
know how?
The Rebbe.
Yeah, and um in general all these
publications as mentioned the Rebbe
looked over and in great detail because
you need to remember
the Rebbe was then laying down the
foundation for all um
for all you know,
Lubavitch's po'alus until you know,
until the time until Moshiach comes.
And till today shluchim are operating
based off these off these eitzos and
this and these this hadracha that tzach
received then and of course other
shluchim received but tzach was the main
um meised
which was operating these
mitzva um um
uh and executing these mitzva.
Um
So, okay. So, just going this is lamid
vov going back a little bit. Um
I as mentioned part one a huge chunk of
my grandfather's life of his
life of activism
um was the years of taf shalom mem dalid
and taf shalom mem hei. Those two years
um it was like a marathon of mitzva um
po'alus and uh eitzos. Things were
coming out in a in a very fast paced uh
uh motion and um
what's his name um
was Yisrael Yisraelitzky and Nachman
that said that
after farbrengens that go from meised
would go to his office downstairs in the
Levi Yitzchak library. We had his
office.
And he would call uh shluchim. Nachman
Sudak London, Rabbi Azimov in Paris.
Um you shluchim America.
And then it was already you know, 4:00
in the morning with the time the
farbrengen end over here. Mhm. In Europe
and other places um in Eretz Yisrael
it was uh already much later.
So, he would say much from Nachman.
Nachman du schlafst?
With his vomit. Uh because of schlafen
the Rebbe what did he do? Or the Rebbe
just spoke about the farbrengen that we
have to do machen zich a that every
child gets a Jewish education and that
you know the next the upcoming Yom Tov
that has to be with the ganze shturm. We
can schlafen.
So,
he has to go to tell me sometimes he
would say, "Wait a little bit. Let's
wait for for the oilam to start going to
sleep now we'll call."
>> [laughter]
>> Yeah, I know.
Yeah, so um
that was his kol halachot for everything
operate in general from I was speaking
to a shliach a friend of a shliach.
They were on shlichus like in the mems.
He says, "We didn't have plans. We got a
fax."
Not the Shabbos, we knew what the plans
were for the for the week, you know.
Yeah, the the general give orders for
the week.
>> Mhm.
Yeah, yeah. So, um
Taf Shin Lamed Alef Lamed Hey, again
those were very very um in Lamed Alef
Vav.
Those years before before the heart
attack in Chaim Yonah Teitelbaum that
was like a very very big um push for all
the mems of Chabad.
Um
and of course as the head of Tzach
Moishe Teitelbaum which actually was
responsible was responsible to execute
these pullus.
Um the head of it was was Moishe
Teitelbaum. So, all these hairois the
one to nash went through him to the
Moishe Teitelbaum etc.
Um so, there was Baruch Hashem
everything there was there's a ton of
ton of hadrachon answers to um
to update and what was happening since
the farbrengen and what they were
printing and and uh
etc. etc. All the resources. It's
interesting um during that tekufah on on
Tes Zayin Adar Taf Shin Lamed Hey
Moishe Teitelbaum's parents uh from
Eretz Yisrael Reb Yaakov Yosef and
Dreiza Raskin were in New York then for
a chasunah of their Eina Kel.
Um Eina Kel Brodman.
Rivka Brodman which was then getting
married to Yitzchok Yitzchok Groner and
Gurary who trace their shlichus to the
Rebbe from Holon.
Um and they were zocheh then to to have
a yechidus.
So,
I mean Reb Yaakov Yosef and the Rebbe
they had a very um
there was there was a lot of there's a
lot of answers to him and the Rebbe had
a lot of hakaras hatov that he was from
the um
Reb Zalman
with his father.
And um and Amata together with his
children. So, there's a lot of history
there. So, in that yechidus of Tes Zayin
Adar Lamed Hey the Rebbe told him the
following.
I have that nacha of it right here.
Which testifies very much on um
my grandfather's uh askonis
during that tekufah.
The Rebbe told him as follows.
Um
Firstly, the Rebbe says
Reb Yaakov Yosef was macht er.
Um ach ach pan no to his wife. The Rebbe
turned to his wife upon him tzeif face
with a beaming face.
And he asked her how she was doing.
V'cholo v'cholo, it was all with a very
simcha simchadike
um you know atmosphere.
And then he writes as follows. I gave
the Rebbe then the pan
um
concerning my son Dovid and his personal
matzav.
The Rebbe took the pan
and um
he said that he will bring it to the
tziyon
um in addition to the um
other panim that I gave him. I guess his
own pan.
And the Rebbe wrote the Rebbe said as
follows.
He writes his chiddushei Torah is Dovid
v'cholo v'cholo. He started by praising
Dovid in all of his pullus. For omar the
Rebbe said
er er tut a sach
er macht Yidden
er tut a sach in Yiddishkeit.
Rebbe lain dem tzetel offen tziyon.
But uh to translate that
um er tut a sach he does much
uh er macht Yidden he transforms uh
Jewish lives
er tut a sach in Yiddishkeit he does
much in the realm of spreading
Yiddishkeit.
Um so, it's just very interesting just
on a very human um
level to see how just seeing Dovid and
Chaim Yonah Teitelbaum he's reporting
updating and what what's being done
after farbrengens um and what the
bochurim are are up to what the shluchim
are up to to see that the Rebbe like
telling parents
by the way your son is is doing very
good work here.
Um
and my work in a Chabad house in
Illinois. And I just wanted to you know
inform me about that.
So, it's
uh
you know it's it's uh touched me very
much to see that uh
how the Rebbe related to parents about
um
you know everyone saw that Dovid Dovid
was with Chaim Yonah Teitelbaum he's
someone that's asking for advice. The
Rebbe sees it as as a parent and a
child.
It's a totally different lens.
So, um
that is that.
Um
and just to
go over one brochure
um of Tzach
they wrote in then that um
they had they they then gave a brochure
for all the um tziyonim and every single
you can see over here for example. This
is actually an original.
For the envelopes of Tzach they um they
had they printed them tziyonim in every
one of them. For first there were five
and then there were 10.
So, the Rebbe's writing here is all
English ha guys.
Yeah, this is on every right the Rebbe
writes under every right doorpost.
Um every book home should have a basic
Torah books. Chumash, siddur, Tehillim
the Rebbe added an etc.
And added daily
extra daily
yeah.
>> Candle lighting for Shabbos.
And the Rebbe changed the crossed out
for x'd out for the Rebbe added Shabbos
and Yom Tov.
And then approximately
it says by women and girls under 3 years
of age the Rebbe wrote approximately.
>> She light Shabbos candles.
Mhm. The Rebbe wrote it yeah.
But
I think the the edit is also very it's
very interesting.
Like most people here they write hey a
um you know they put together a campaign
to light uh Shabbos candles to write
light for Shabbos.
For Shabbos can mean on Shabbos itself
chos v'shalom. So, the Rebbe made sure
to add the word erev.
This is like an envelope.
Yeah, that was uh every envelope Tzach
every really all the stationery even on
the back of this.
You notice.
You have all the all the campaigns. That
was Tzach's main thing they did.
This is after the uh the ha guys. Right
and I think they have it.
Yeah, on the right doorpost.
Approximately.
They wrote erev Shabbos and Yom
Every Shabbos and Yom Tov eve at the
proper time. Yeah.
Unfortunately
>> say approximately 3 and 1/2 percent of
the It doesn't say approximately? No.
Unfortunately they they were times where
the Rebbe's edits weren't um
incorporated.
And for whatever reasons either there
was it was a copywriter or whoever it
was
um that didn't um
incorporate the Rebbe's hago'os on
previous um brochures. So, the
mistakes were repeated again and again
and that got the Rebbe very upset. Um
that how many times um
will the mistake will be repeated and
there was one sharp answer that Tzach
got.
Um again this is this was a lot of this
was very new. So, you know we would all
probably do make similar errors.
Um at a certain point the Rebbe wanted
very much for uh Tzach on their own
initiative being Lubavitch. Tzach again
was just serving at the uh
forefront of all pullus.
Um
that on their own that they shouldn't
have to send in every single last thing
to the Rebbe and that the Rebbe should
have to fix everything. The Rebbe wanted
um
to train us that we should chatchilah
publish things but if in mesukan
Um
this is here a tzetel from Beis Chaim
Taf Shin Lamed Zayin.
The Rebbe wrote
um l'chaira in quotation marks
um
kvar bo hazman
the time has arrived shibekoiach atzmam
on your
own initiative yeitz mil'eira now
v'cheitz b'tzeiva eif mesukan.
You should we should be publish you
should be publishing these um
publications
um in the correct manner. I shouldn't
have to go through it every single time.
Um the Rebbe writes for example
they wrote that um taharas hamishpacha
please keep this important tradition of
family um purity. The Rebbe wrote
tradition. This is a mitzvah chashuvah
b'yeiser.
Um
and to be the Rebbe
>> they write the English word?
Yeah, tradition. And he writes in Hebrew
but uh
it's not a tradition
um b'alma mitzvah chashuvah.
Um v'cholo underlined. L'zara b'loshan
sh'lo yuv'n chashuvim in Yiddishkeit
not to exclude that others are aren't
chashuvim rather
but you see how on top of these things
the Rebbe was.
Um then he writes at the end the Rebbe
writes at the end betach yesh eid
v'cholo.
Meaning definitely there are more uh
edits
um to be made.
But uh it's it's a very interesting to
see how the Rebbe trained us how to how
to think like him.
He he was doing this uh over the years
and
it's not even like in the notes. It's in
Zion that I was like already gave you
all these instructions.
Why are these mistakes being repeated
again?
Um and again it was it was edited by a
team of experts.
And they were trying their best, but um
either they didn't know
previous hug guys.
Either you know or they didn't know what
that was incorporate what was in there
or what wasn't.
Whatever it was it wasn't like Google
Docs back in the day where you could see
uh you know everyone was able to was on
the same doc. Everything was being done
in a very um
you know, just on paper.
>> [sighs]
>> Um
so that was uh that was that. Um
this is there's a lot to discuss on the
mitziam.
Um
Yeah, but almost anything that ever
saved how many things could be said and
I want to move over a little bit to um
Yeshiva. Mhm.
Um so actually I was his first I was his
first uh job um in the Yeshiva of Brisk.
I was already a bocher in in good humor
or so.
He got married a dollar so he already
started a year or so before his marriage
to get involved with um Yeshiva. He was
a mashgiach and then he would he taught
students for the younger bocherim.
Um and then he took a more of an
official capacity um in the Anholo.
Um after um
the kuf the kuf of tavis tafshin gimmel
Zion together with Reb Yisrael
and Reb Sholom Marozov.
So the three of them as you see over
here they would uh
that kuf and on they would constantly
update the Rebbe on all matters of
Yeshiva.
They they would write to the Rebbe
on uh the matters of the bocherim.
>> young Anholo. Yeah, and the Rebbe said
then he will have them the uh
younger Anholo, minor Anholo.
And the and the Anholo then
and he appointed the three.
Um
but yeah the the three of them were uh
were you know were the Rebbe's boys and
they every every single every single
thing in Anholo
um they would update in the Yeshiva I
mean they would update the Rebbe with
And the mashgiach and the Rebbe what to
do with this bocher and that bocher.
Yeah, and they got hit up practice for
various bocherim things were some things
were very sensitive matters.
Certain things uh you know things that
the bocherim have to that Anholo has to
deal with with uh bocherim. You know the
zones and the young bocherim and the
nasty tape.
Bochurim.
The three of them also were in charge of
the uh konam which came out and which
the Rebbe
um
instituted that kuf on
of uh tafshin yud tes.
Um the Rebbe wanted he was talking very
much in the farbrent and the Rebbe said
it should be also
in the minyan tedder.
And he the Rebbe wanted uh seven
bocherim to say people in him in
chassidus.
I think he would say Shabbos was the
time that it would happen. And seven
bocherim to take a chiyus people in him
in uh nigleh.
So uh I think Reb Mentlik and perhaps
Reb Sholom Marozov as well were in
charge of nigleh.
And
Reb Zeiden and Reb Yisrael were in
charge of um
the department of chassidus.
Um
the three of them got a lot of hidrus
over here.
So if you see the bottom over there
my zeiden asked the Rebbe
um if the Rebbe can give him the
instruct him what is it that what is the
hismanus What is the What's the job of
the of the Anholo?
>> Yeah, what is the appointment of the
Anholo?
The Rebbe says in kaviyala me b'frat
shiyach the Rebbe is not saying who
should do what.
Avuma ikarim. Avuma ik my karim.
Like kulam shichaz what is lacking by
the bocherim. They thought their koach
there's no koach.
But will they got poach even less than
the koach.
Not not now now there's not a koach but
there isn't even less of that.
They building with none learning nigleh
or chassidus. Maybe not feeling and
davening.
Kain and
zugibunkait. This is this is printed.
There's no feeling of
connection to the Yeshiva.
K'vias say laha. It's not Anholo.
It's not the bocherim.
Sh'ein mashpia
al Anholo that affects the koach and the
learning and nigleh and chassidus.
Avar
tamidim
k'n hanacha k'n yud Zion Zion alef
It's a little hard to read because it's
mamish on the bottom. It's a copy also.
Yeah, and it goes around.
>> Sh'Yeshiva lay this Animin I started
this on.
The bocherim don't have this connection
to the Yeshiva because they feel that
Anholo
and this is
that they don't have any that Anholo is
not interested in their well-being their
status.
They feel the Rebbe see you either
should should care even to help them in
any which way.
Well
um
so it's understood the Rebbe says how
this affects the time in the in the
Yeshiva.
The main thing iker v'goyel eiger zev
meshech.
Tam of kanoch and how is this happening
for already a few years?
Doesn't concern anyone. Yeah.
Is this Anholo? You make a
is this uh
What's the loshon? Halezeh menahel
Anholo. K'dei.
If I do you get this that you call it
can this be called Anholo?
Or menahel ruchni? But the interesting
thing is
even after these answers
and my zeiden they get hit up my
farbrengens. There was one farbrengen
you do and I think it was alef.
But you'll be soaking booklets and the
Rebbe wanted it to be printed and there
was some disagreement how it should be
done whatever it was.
Everything the Rebbe then said um
a person could be a melech but you don't
have to be melech malchei hamlachim.
That was and the people wrote in and the
Rebbe still said it should be shiyach to
him.
That he's still the person in charge.
It's very interesting how the Rebbe
operated that you know One of the one of
the guys in Anholo was telling me that
off air he was saying that when they got
these sharp answers from the Rebbe it
wasn't like
you know the way they took it was it was
It's kiyuv. Yeah, like the Rebbe is
telling them what to do like even even
You also you're worth the Rebbe's like
energy that
to invest in you. Yeah, even if it's
sharp but okay yeah, like it wasn't like
it it was it was a positive. Yeah.
Over here they write about the different
of the Yeshiva the Rebbe writes you view
the gish shlita. The Rebbe was very
careful that uh not to step into the
shiyach's territory. Also it's
interesting
>> They should bring it to mashgiach. Yeah,
because he's in charge of America's
Yeshiva
so this is shiyach to him. Right. You
know what's uh
interesting to see the two
departments of Lubavitch.
Um
and then um
yeah, there was it was constantly um
updates of meetings of Anholo.
Um Reb Chaim Dovid meetings in Anholo
that the shiyach always wanted to hear
what's the drashkin.
It was a famous uh
thing we spoke about in part one. Mhm.
After he was going to what's the
drashkin like that was he knew that he
was like the Rebbe's shliach in the
the Anholo. Anyways
um
this is a very um
I don't know if I I think the hakafos
should print this in the the back of the
Yeshiva's one one week in the in the
Yeshiva's.
This is an answer mamish two weeks
before chof Zion Adar. Tafshin nun beis.
From yud Adar alef tafshin nun beis.
Tafshin nun beis. Nun beis.
Um they wrote to the Rebbe here my
zeiden actually Reb Sholom Marozov and
Reb Yisrael bocherim they're asking.
So just a little background after Reb
Shiyach passed away
um
this is mem tes. First after Reb Mentlik
passed away mem ches then Reb Shiyach
passed away a year later.
Nun Adar.
So the Anholo took on a different uh a
higher role. Anholo ruchni is basically
took on like the entire Yeshiva
everything going on. Like my zeiden then
became like mashgiach of Anholo.
Everything's the position started uh
you know, shifting up a bit.
So I see in a few of the dochis um
that he wrote from the sifus of meetings
of Anholo he signs mashgiach and
um in his name.
Um I think later he was also I think
technically had to be the president just
for legal matters.
But uh over here they write the Rebbe
that uh seems like they're giving 6% of
the salaries for the Yeshiva on order I
guess the matters of it was dochuk
bochurim it was a little you know the
financial matters of Yeshiva wasn't too
good.
So they they write to the Rebbe how
they're going to I guess I think I think
that the shiyach is that they're going
to take less for the salary
um until the matters is more stable.
The Rebbe writes here
um and they asked that it should be
b'vadi a yigum nachas ruach to the
Rebbe.
Which is a yigum name
that matters of the Yeshiva should be
b'rachav u'g'dal v'cholo.
So the Rebbe writes godel kapashut
and this is just two weeks before chof
Zion Adar. Godel kapashut
b'fi mashnemer b's halcha b'rachav
b's halcha b'rachav and tell him it says
he should
I'll go braid.
U'b'vadi
sh'tzarich li'as hascholo [snorts]
b'gashmius
d'inyan ha'chiyuruchni t'im chitzonim.
This ha'chavah
Yeah.
Um
>> This is start with t'im chitzonim.
With the inyan ha'chiyuruchni.
Right.
Ask atzeinu and the Rebbe asked
l'chiyura chasa iker.
Kama talmidim they taste full by Yeshiva
me'eis hasivah k'dames. How many more
bocherim were added to Yeshiva since the
previous meeting?
Um another answer that's very powerful
answer. Another answer he received was
godel as chos t'im chitzonim. That it's
mikarev the Beis Moshiach this nun alef.
Um have it somewhere over here.
Um and then for every um and for every
milestone of Tam Tamim
um he would get another uh answer um
about that number. Let's say for
example, this is
Tavshin and olive.
Um it was 93 years of Tam Tamim. So,
that would compare that to Tzad Gimmel
Kaelim Shul you made in Beis Hamikdash
Kol Yom.
Like it says in the Mishnah, but Yachad
Im Machain
um how do you say that? Tzad Gimmel. So,
I guess it was actually 94 years. Cuz
the previous year was Tzad Gimmel. And
um
And it's interesting to see how every
year that I have connected to that year
of Tam Tamim. Um again, this is all from
Mem Tes and on.
Which it seems like the Rebbi also took
on a new
a new shlav in the role of Tam Tamim.
Um
that same Tzetl the Rebbi wrote in Skav
Beis Hamikdash.
Um V'vadai Sh'b'negiyus L'maiseh Sh'shai
F'maiseh, but
Yaikah D'vai V'chulu. This was about the
um
Farbrengen of Tes Vav Elul marking the
Yesasos of Sh'mish Ish V'ish Nachum.
So, um
yeah, there was a lot of um there was a
lot of Hadrocho
um in those last uh
4 years or so
from uh
from Mem Tes in an incredible way.
But, um
that was I just wanted to skip from
Tzach to Shivas because this was
basically his whole life. You'll see
like an envelope from Tzach for Chveish
Matzbo contest in Tavshin Mem. Which I'm
not sure who you even got to, but that's
that was a whole inyan pertaining to me.
He's like writing the Bochurim who are
going to America Shlichus.
That that after Shlichus for whatever
how many weeks. Everything was one was
one massive uh Different hats. Yeah.
You see that clearly actually by when
the Rebbi gave out dollars to thank his
team at the end of Farbrengens.
That started uh I think Chai Elul Amud
Daled.
So,
my Zeide is there like um you know
helping out the Rebbi.
Leave a crown on his head and then my
Zeide is like in the middle.
They were two actually uh serving the
same position with Adam Masader. But, in
that moment like in that time he was
serving like
uh like three positions.
>> Adam Masader and Holla and and Tzach.
>> And Tzach, yeah.
And Tzach's
um yeah.
Like Mrs. Sternberg says when she was
called into Yechidus um
with Leil Bedikas Chametz uh
I think it was Lamed Daled Lamed Hey,
one of those years. So, she walks in Gan
Eden Hatachton. And there were four
people there. And Mrs. Teneshik. Yeah.
Mhm. She was called she was called
Mamish out of Pesach to Yechidus.
The four uh was JJ Hecht was there.
Uh Yossi Weinberg
Reb Chodakov, my Zeide, and they were
all wearing Gartlach.
And she had to like figure out why each
one was called in.
Um you know, JJ Hecht was at the radio.
Yossi Weinberg um I think was at the
also the radio. So, he was involved with
the Vaad L'Hafotzas Chassidus.
Um my Zeide was involved with the tanks
and Mivtzaim.
And of course she she was um the Shliach
for uh Neshek.
So, um some just I thought about that
because of the positions, but but during
that time of Tank Mivtzaim you Mamish
saw that
that um all of his various positions
that he uh
that he played.
Um
Yeah. Um and one of the Pelos of um
of the Tam Tamim
Chlul Tam Tamim was just B'derech Klal
was learning B'shkideh B'smachah Nigleh
V'chassidus. That's that's what his
Shlichus is. There's no Pelos.
One of the rare times that the Rebbi
wanted Tam Tamim
to get involved with the Pela
was the was concerning um
the Sifrei Torah Klali.
Tavshin Mem Beis.
You're familiar with him? Yeah, sure.
So, um
I had the Tzetl here before. It's a very
interesting Tzetl where
he writes that uh
we are trying to figure out how the uh
letters should be split up.
Which Shnif should take what?
And the Rebbi from the Rebbi writes his
response.
Everything about this Doch is not
Negayah.
How many letters were Tachlis were sold
where were where were already bought.
>> Purchased. Purchased.
Um and in general that was like seems
like that was the Rebbi's approach. Of
course things have to be done in Seder
V'seder and figure out.
But, like I think the Rebbi wrote Kozev
Kol Keitz was a Inyan Eker Klal
underlined. Kein Kaman uh Nishmu
Niderishmu B'pel. How many were signed
up B'pel?
But, uh that was just in regards to um
Pelos of Tam Tamim.
>> [clears throat]
>> But, um
besides for that
um yeah, this this was life this was his
life. My my aunt uh I remember one time
saying that on his way on his way to
Shul
she used to think like the walk took
like a half hour or 45 minutes from
Montgomery. He lived in Montgomery in
between Kingston and Brooklyn to 770.
Uh but obviously it's a 7-minute walk
maybe.
But, the Vert is every every other
person was walking up to him and saying
"Give this. Give this. Give this. Give
this. Give this. I should have Negayah
the Tam Tamim Negayah Tzach Negayah this
Pela Negayah this Halva'ah."
There there was he was he was a Ish
Klali. So, everything was you know, he
had so much on his plate on a
on a regular basis. And
um yeah, this was his life.
K'ein Harah he was Zocheh to
to much Heiro'is. As we see uh the
answer to the Rebbi that he was always a
Keili to be M'kayem the
the Heiro'is. And I think that
um Heiro really applies to every every
Chossid.
Sometimes we doubt ourselves.
If we are a Keili or if we have we have
the Keichus we don't have the Keichus
and I don't I don't have the merits I
don't have I'm in the mood.
The Rebbi is saying that every single
Chossid has the
capacity for all the all of his Keichus.
Definitely willing, you know. Yeah, and
the Rebbi You just need to want
sometimes and uh and
you know, things take effect when when
things start rolling, you know.
B'derech Klal energy uh
has its uh impact. Right, and it says
that the Rebbi is working with the
people that make themselves available.
It's true. So,
every one of us
should be able to make ourselves
available to the Rebbi's
causes.
And then uh
Right. Uh I'm just thinking as you're
saying that
to make yourself available that means
you have to be plugged in.
I don't Besides for one or two times my
Zeide had to be in there to Shul for
family motive. Yeah, I think when his
mother his first Yahrzeit of his mother
and for some other times which even then
he wrote to the Rebbi for uh Shlichus.
Um yeah, I don't think he ever missed a
Farbrengen of the Rebbi.
From the first Farbrengen of Yom Echad
that we spoke part one of Beis Gimmel
Tavshin Yud
until
B'yakel Mem Beis
for one or two times I don't think my
Zeide ever missed a Farbrengen of the
Rebbi period. Yeah.
Um
Reb Goldberg I'll ask him. Um
I think his name is Yakov Yakov
Goldberg.
Who? He's a Shliach in Morristown. He's
a Shliach in Brazil.
So, he would say that He was mentioned
by uh
Pinchas Notkin in the podcast. Oh, yeah?
Sichos, yeah. So, yeah he was a typer.
So, we'll get to that in a second. So,
he would say he would tell his kids I
heard this from his kids just recently.
Um he told this to me, but his kids told
me this that my father always said in
Davening that I should ask him
that he has Ruach Hakodesh.
What's P'shat?
This was Motzei Yom Kippur Tavshin Yud
Tes.
I'm sorry. This was Motzei Yom Kippur
Tavshin Yud Daled.
Um
it was after the um
you know, every on the on Davening
V'chulu. Everyone home to break their
fast. In P'shutei Medach he spoke about
it in the Oh, yeah, he spoke about this.
Yeah, it's uh mid them all.
Um so, Reb Goldberg is in my Zeide's
room in 770 uh typing I think the Nach
from the Rosh Hashanah Farbrengen.
And he hears the phone ringing ringing
ringing. There used to be a phone where
the sink is today upstairs in 770 down
the hallway. Where the sink is today.
>> Payphone. Used to be a payphone there.
I got I heard they took it down after
the Rebbi spoke a Sichah like Mem Lamed
Ches that B'shaas M'lameid Torah has to
be like Shabbos.
No no phones.
>> Just imagine today
what today
it's a little harder today with the So,
they took out the payphone and okay. So,
they took it yeah.
So, they took out the payphone. Anyways,
the phone was ringing and ringing.
And he was ignoring it, you know,
whoever was and it didn't stop. So, he
finally got up
and he went out of the room and he went
down the hall to see who was calling. It
was my Zeide on the line.
He goes "What's happening in 770?"
So, he says "Stam it's it's empty. The
few Bochurim in Zal that came back from
their meal, but uh still still."
He says "I'm I'm in the middle of
printing the Nachah, but I'm in the
middle of typing the Nachah, but not
much is happening."
So, he goes "Mamish you got nothing?"
He goes "What should be happening now?"
Mid mid my he tells me.
As he's on the phone he's like looking
down the hall. He sees the Rebbi leaving
his room into the Zal.
The Rebbi in the 770.
Yeah, the Rebbi went all the way to the
I forgot I think the table like where
the window is whatever it is between the
two rooms.
And the um the Rebbi mid them all put on
a Sichah and he started saying a Maimer.
I think a Maimer from the Alter Rebbi.
There was a few Bochurim there Reb
Shmuel Zalman Shmuel Levin and a few
others.
And um so, he tells he tells the Rebbi
he tells my Zeide
that uh the Rebbi just left his room and
he and he hung up the phone and ran and
took he went to get his hand out. He ran
to Zal.
So, come over my Zeide did the same on
his end.
He went running from his house and he
came in the middle of the Maimer.
But, um
he said after that my Derech Eretz for
him was
next week. The Ruach Hakodesh. The fact
that he felt that he was so in sync.
Um
yeah. I'm trying to I'm saying on that
note that he I don't know if he ever
missed like I don't think he ever missed
anything the Rebbi was involved with
for bringing wise.
>> [cough]
>> And then there was then there was to my
social person when he wanted to look at
this my say the cult social sister's
house where he was staying and said the
same talk we want to make a taste of the
challenge for you. This was I think a
little tough and high.
And middle of the bringing the
barricaded of
went to the room went to the zone of the
boxing with the bringing the zone where
the talk was hosting the bringing.
And
he said it for the BSA that the devil
come in and
continue the bringing.
So just again how you see how the talk
was behind that that the devil bring
because talk initiated in general talk
initiated many for bringing itself.
Say something shall also look at them
are going out.
So a few that talk I know all time in
Winnipeg and I think it went out of
days.
It was a title
show me the written you went out also I
think here so.
I don't know maybe earlier just Seattle
the talk
put out a
medal that talk that will be hosting
taste of the challenge for him.
But
I mean in the charter planes from
England when they came in and
I think it was half of
I saw the the signs in the zone.
It said the same talk look my volume to
they were uh
taking a flight for the young and
obviously talk and see us of the heaven.
But yeah they're very successful.
And
that's my option in the orbit.
Okay that's my second.
>> we can.
That's your care God willing and thank
you so much.
>> Yeah till next time.
