Rabbi Reuven Kigel - What Does Having A Good Eye Mean?

hello everybody Rabbi ruen keigle talking to you from the EMT home office in Queens New York uh today I want to speak about having a good eye now having a good eye is very important as I like to speak about all the time because it allows you to be happy cuz instead of seeing the bad things in the world you see the good things in the world but the real question is how do we get a good eye right and there's many ways to do it I just wanted to hone in on something today cuz remember having a good eye involves training yourself to see the good right it does not come naturally but after a few weeks a few months a few years you become quite good at it so a good way to start is to pick someone in your life right pick someone in your life maybe your husband maybe your wife maybe your child maybe your parent and try to for a week give them a compliment every day on something then the next week pick a different person and give them a compliment every day on something you do this for a few weeks you'll get used to it and all of a sudden you'll have a very strong good eye muscle now why is having good eye so important because you have to remember everything that Hashem creates everything that God gives us is good and it's up to us whether we see the goodness or not so if you have a good eye you're always going to be see able to see the goodness of what Hashem gives you so I'll give you an example of something happened to me one time in my life I happened to be online uh in a in a nice kosher restaurant and there was an Israeli Guy online next to me and he asked me very politely how you doing so I said very politely bar so he said to me looked at me goes you know you're religious people I can't get a straight answer from you you're always bem right you're always saying thank God so I told him I said you know you're asking the wrong question so he said what do you mean I said if you really want to know what religious person thinks and really how he's doing then what you have to ask him is the following question because you have to remember everything from Hashem is good just whether you see it or not so this is the question you have to ask them this what I told him you have to say is the goodness in your life revealed or is it concealed so he pondered it what I told him for a moment and he said okay I was wondering is the goodness in your life revealed or concealed so I looked at him and I said back it's revealed that is the power of having a good eye you'll see that everything in your life is for the good and even if it seems bad when you're in the middle of it if you practice enough if you see the goodness enough you you'll be able to see the goodness in every situation have a great job
